Straightening an image whilst zoomed

As far as I know, (and please correct me if I am wrong) the only time you can straighten an image in LR is when the crop tool is engaged fully zoomed out. only
Sometimes the only part of an image which will give you an accurate horizon is quite small and it would be helpful if you could zoom in to the image, select crop from there and straighten the image (without cropping, of course)o
If anyone has a better solution please let me know otherwise could Adobe look at this for a future release please?

Under lens corrections Lightroom 5.7 (and 5.6) has a new feature to correct distortions such tilted horizons, it works quite well. If that is not good enough you can use the Manual tab also under Lens Corrections. Please see Lightroom Help | Upright automatic perspective correction | Lightroom 5, there is a good video tutorial by Julieanne Kost.

  • How do I just straighten an image?

    I don't see a simple way via the transform tool or otherwise to just simply straighten an image - rotate it about 1 degree or so and have it preview the adjustment.
    Why is there no Help section within the interface of the app?

    Please tap Transform and expand the dialog by tapping the triangle at the left.
    Enter your value (1 degree) in the angle field on the right and hit OK.
    Now you may want to go to the "&" menu, choose crop and trim the image.
    Thanks.

  • Blurry images when zooming in Survey & Grid View

    When I am in Survey View and hit the Z key, some of  the previews are blurry.  The same thing happens in Grid View.  However, in Loupe View, the images are fine when I the 'Z' key.  Using Survey View would make things go faster when making my picks.  Any ideas why this happens?
    I tried rendering 1:1 but the returns a mesage that says renders are up to date and rendering was done.

    This is definitely a bug. I can see it too, and it's little bit annoying. LR 4.1, Win7 x64.
    To reproduce just select two images, render 1:1 previews to be shure they are present.
    Then press 'N' to switch to Survey mode, and now press 'Z' to zoom in active photo.
    It gets zoomed, but looks like LR zooms in standard (smaller) preview instead of using 1:1 preview - the result is blurry and a little pixelated, it definitely lacks resolution.
    But when in the Loupe view (switch view using 'E') and zooming all work just fine - the image is at full resolution and is sharp.
    And even if I switch from Survey to Loupe with zoomed in image - it still stays blurry.
    To get sharp image I need to zoom out and then zoom in again.
    So in short - it looks like 1:1 preview is used only when image is zoomed in from the Loupe view.
    At least others seem to experience the same thing so I know it's not just me.  I'd say it's more than a little bit annoying because it causes you to second guess yourself and you constantly have to switch to a view to see if the image is actually sharp or not.  It really slows down the workflow.

  • Question on Photoshop Image Size Zoom & Crop

    Hello Everyone...
    I was wondering if anyone could help me out on a few questions w/ Image Size Zoom & Crop
    I use to work at a studio that had their own small software for editing photos. It was setup so you take an image RAW and you could CROP by zooming. So I could take the image and SCROLL to ZOOM in and it cropped away the rest without actually pressing crop. Then you pick what sizes you want, 1 8x10, 2 5x7 and sheet of wallets and WALLLLLLA it prints them out on 3 sheets of paper.
    My questions are:
    Is there anyway to crop by zooming?
    Is there anyway to keep the original size after cropping?  Example most of my pics are 12M when I crop they go down to 2 or 3. Why? If I have a picture of 4 people and I want to crop to one persons face but keep the original image size why won't it do that without resizing??
    It says that to get the best print quality it should be viewed at resolution 300 instead of 72? is that true? and why?
    Is there a way to keep the quality at its best and then just select how many and what size I want to have print out? example of the 3 sizes listed above??
    I hope my questions make a little sense.
    Thanks for your help in advance

  • Is it possible to set an image to zoom full screen when clicked?

    Hi Guys
    Quick question...
    Is it possible to set an image to zoom full screen when clicked?

    You can create a button that displays a larger image:

  • Tiger's Preview application does not antialias images when zooming

    On windows when you double click an image and zoom in it uses standard bicubic interpolation to give the magnified image a natural look.
    In OS X, when images are magnified in Preview the pixels are magnified 1:1 which gives a horrible pixellated look. On some images clicking "actual size" gives a non 100% scale rendition too.
    Is there any hack or trick to let preview magnify images normally or better?
    It's weird, you'd think some uat tester would have noticed the pixellated zoom and just changed the magnification algorithm.

    In ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Preview.plist, there is an entry called
    Root->Preview->PVImageHiResDrawingInZoomInMode
    which is set to zero by default. Change it to 1, save and restart finder. This should enable interpolation. It seems to work OK but no promises - they must have turned it off for a reason (it's actually pretty rubbish compared to the windows one and for some reason not as good as the one used in slideshow mode?!).

  • Photoshop CC distorted image when zoomed out. Text, edges and Straight lines.

    I get this distorted image when working on a file. When I zoom in its fine. But as soon as I zoom out all the lines, text , and edges start to become distorted. I've checked that all my drivers are up to date. I've re installed photoshop and still the same thing. Any Suggestions. ( files look fine when saved or exported, this just happens while Im working )

    That looks like a Moiré pattern.  Did you scan the image?
    If not, can you tell us what operating system?
    And is your video card driver fully up to date from the maker's website?

  • Javascript/AJAX - Show image whilst update is done and then hide it.

    I want to do an update with AJAX but I want a "waiting" image to display before the update and then hide afterwards. That way, if there is a delay in the update or a row lock, the screen doesn't just freeze, it shows a "please wait" icon.
    I am using code like this to save to the database when a field is de-selected (done for ease of testing):
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function deselect_field(f) {
      f.disabled=true;
      f.className=f.className + " saving";
      var v=new htmldb_Get(null,&APP_ID.,'APPLICATION_PROCESS=SC_TEST',0);
      v.add(f.name,f.value);
      v.get()
      f.className=f.className.replace("saving"," ");
      f.disabled=false;
    </script>The saving class sets the background. I have tested this without the un-setting and it works fine. I think the issue is the ajax call is made too quickly, ie before the screen has had chance to update.
    SO - my question is, how can I have the image (moving gif) display whilst the AJAX call is processing and then hide it at the end?!
    Rather not use JQuery if possible.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Thanks for the link. The issue I'm having now is that the process isn't firing (it's just updating a row in a table). Also, readyState of 4 never seems to get returned. I seem to get the call for readyState of 1 and then that's it. I've modified my code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var z;
    function deselect_field(f) {
      z=f;
      var v=new htmldb_Get(null,&APP_ID.,'APPLICATION_PROCESS=SC_TEST',0);
      v.add(f.name,f.value);
      v.GetAsync(f_async);
      v=null;
    function f_async() { alert(p.readyState);
      if (p.readyState==1) {
        z.disabled=true;
        z.className=z.className.replace("highlight_field"," ");
        z.className=z.className + " saving";
      else if (p.readyState==4) {
        z.className=z.className.replace("saving"," ");
        z.disabled=false;
    </script>As you can see, I have a debugging alert message in there. This only pops up the once with a value of "1".
    Any ideas?! Apart from using classes instead of displaying the HTML element, I can't see much else that is drastically different? Even so, I wouldn't have thought that would have any effect anyway?
    Thanks,

  • How to get the whole map image after zoom in?

    Hi,
    I use mapviewer API to generate map images and put them in JSP as well as in Java Applet. I called the method getGeneratedImage(). After I using the methods zoomIn() or zoomOut(), I got a new map image. But the size is fixed, so after zoom in I can only see a part of the whole map. I would like to use scrollbar to see other part of the map after zoom in.
    How can I solve this problem? I have the images as predefinied themes saved in database with MBR information.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    For the map request in MapViewer you may define the data area that you want to display, as well as the device size (width and height). The result is a java Image with width and height sizes. You can draw this image on a canvas with scroll bars, and if the size of the canvas is smaller than the image size, then you should see the scroll bars. But you have to code that. MapViewer will just return an Image with the specified size.
    The zoom in/out options just change the data area, but keeps the device size. Therefore you should use the API methods to set the data area (setBox or setCenterAndSize) and to set the device size (setDeviceSize), in order to control the size of your resulted image, and then draw it on your canvas with scroll bars.
    Regards.

  • In "Preview" 2 issues: clear last images opened & zoom not working

    Any images opened in "Preview" from the past, all open up when I select other or new images to view. Basically anything I've opened in Preview since the install of Lion all opens when I select new images or items to view in Preview. Just now, 15 separate windows opened after I selected 3 images from the same folder. The other windows all contain items and images I've opened in the past few weeks. This is crazy annoying. I've never seen this before. I looked in preferences and I can't find anything to clear last opened or something to that effect. Please advise.
    Secondly, in Lion, on both my Macbook Pro & iMac, I can no longer use my smart mouse, trackpad...to expand the items/images in my folders prior to opening them. Usually I could open a folder, see there are numerous images and use my fingers to zoom in & out on all the items of that folder w/my trackpad. Since Lion, no more.

    In case anyone else has noticed this issue, I found the answer. It's a Lion issue, so delete the following plist:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Preview/

  • Any solution to pixelated images when zooming?

    Wondering if there is a solution to prevent pdf images on transparent background from pixelating when zoomed in.
    This is a screen capture. There are two knife images. The large white knife is a pdf on a transparent background saved at 108 ppi in photoshop, it is part of a object state/slide show (saved as vector obviously since type is sharp) that fades in. Doesn't seem to matter what size/dimensions I use, it still gets blurry when you pinch and zoom.
    See here:
    The smaller black knife image at top left is also a pdf on transparent background, saved at 108 ppi in photoshop. It is not an object state,etc.
    The knife images look fine at full screen on the iPad, but once you pinch and zoom, both images loose focus and become blurry.
    Any solution to this? The images need to be pdf (or png - which I understand will not scale at all), because they are on transparent backgrounds.
    Thanks!

  • IPhoto 9.1.1: slideshow images are zoomed into blurriness

    New Mini 2.4, new Acer HD widescreen display, iPhoto 9.1.1 bundled. The mandatory library "update" on startup corrupted my library. Found a fix here to trash the iPhoto plist and reload the app. My old slideshows are gone, and when I select a range of photos and click "slideshow", I get the whole range in mini-thumbnails along the bottom; that's nice, but...when I play the slideshow, the images are so zoomed out that every last one is blurry. It looks like a nice photo in Preview after you hit "zoom in" about 5 times; it starts to pixelate, but this is just plain blurry. I posted another topic today about display size, and I wonder if these two flaws are related. The display puts a ridiculously small snapshot on the display, and full-screen simply puts the same dinky image on a field of black.
    The subject images are, admittedly, mostly 1.3mp and 3.5mp. A few I took with my new 18mp Canon behave pretty much like they all used to. I've tried changing the monitor resolution from 1080p down to 720p, but it doesn't make much difference. The older ones looked fine and were zoomable without pixelating on my old Acer 1914 LCD monitor, so I didn't expect such a radical degradation of quality simply by upgrading to an HD monitor. The older photos (99%) of my library, are pretty much useless for slideshows now.

    Create a new test library, import some photos and see if the problem persists. If not then your original library is damaged. Backup the library and try the three fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
    1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
    3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
    NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
    Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select options #1, #2 and #6.
    Click to view full size
    Fix #3
    Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
    Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
    1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
    2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
    3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
    4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    5 - Click on the Create button.
    Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Images that zoom and move jitter after render.

    I have a bunch of pictures that I put to music. Some move across the screen or zoom slowly. The images move smoothly until I render them, then it's like the images are on some bumpy path or something. They jitter or bump as they move.
    I have de-interlaced the images, have changed the image formats, added max flicker filter, ensured that my render settings were at 100%, have redone the motion, have doubled the resolution of the image file (just in case the pixels were conflicting or having trouble at that resolution), and have adjusted settings in the individual item's properties.
    My project was supposed to be delivered to the customer yesterday, but there's no way I'm going to deliver a jittery video. The problem is also equally noticeable on the DVD I produced . I have never had this problem in the past. Like I say, when the render bar is green, everything is smooth. After render, bumpy motion. All the motion (for the most part) is perfectly horizontal or vertical.
    Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    I had the exact same problem and was able to overcome it using a hack... this seems to be a bug in FCE.
    I fixed it by rotating all my original images 90 degrees, replacing them in the timeline, rotating them back, then applying the zoom effects. They look perfect now. (Strange but true.)
    Anyone with a better solution to this issue?
