Strange associations

" surprising, it is like a jump in the time to the Windows 98 ". Other rare(strange) things are:
1 ª When I select an audio icon and press it apple+I, appears the information of the file but it turns out that to open 7.0.4 and 7.0.3 appear between(among) others, two types of QuickTime. The system does not allow me to choose any more than the first one, that it(he,she) appears for omission.
2 ª Doing the previous same thing on the file PDF I find the possibilities of opening with PDF, two previous QuickTime, previous Sight in his(her,your) versions 3.0.3 and 3.0.4, Safari 2.0.2 and 2.0.3 and usefulness(utility) colorSync. It(he,she) allows me to choose at first(in principle), unlike the previous thing.
There happens to you a little, that is not very drastic to come back to the normality? Thank you and a greeting.

Strange folder associations to dvd player

Hello!
I have very strange problem, some folders are associated within DVD Player. For instance when I click in dock on folder download, it shows me the fun and then when I press the arrow to see more items in folder it opens a DVD Player?
Same problem I have in spot search, when I search for folder name, it shows it correcly, but when I click on it, it opens a DVD player.
Please is there a way how can I reset this strange associations?

Gnome shell, media keys and strange X11 cursor bihaviour

Hi guys,
I'm new in this forum, but old arch-user. This time I'm experimenting a really strange issue.
I have a lot of packages installed (pacman, but AUR too), and I tried some beta packet, so I don't know if this issues is caused by me, or is a sort of out-of-the-box, but this is what happens:
During Gnome-Shell session (3.16.2 actually), if I press any media keys (my keyboard has prev-next song, play/pause, stop, vol up-down) my cursor goes hidden (all works, but I can't see pointer). If I'm in empty desktop (no opened window), after 20~50pixel in any direction I can meet again my mouse. Instead, if I have some windows open...random behavior...cursor could reappear after 50pixel mouse movement, or it could stay hidden after 4-5Kpixel. The only way to get cursor again in short time is go to gnome overview (the function linked with super key or upper-left corner, by default).
Additional strange facts:
- mouse is working all the time (link is focused, button is pressed, focus follow mouse event, and so on...)
- seems gnome top bar get same effect as empty desktop (20~50pixel and cursor is visible again)
- if I link key combination with media function (Ctrl + Up/Down for volume, for example), everything goes well
- I have a secondary bluetooth keyboard with same media keys, but this peripheral is not affected by this issue
Any additional informations will be provided, but first, I did my homework:

I already tried to use xmodmap (remapping), xdotool (scripting mouse movement), dconf ([...].gnome cursor active false), sddm (instead of gdm), and a ton of other trick found somewhere, but no luck.

Got is sorted myself.
I installed KDE which worked perfectly. Then went about trying to install chromium. After installing and trying to launch chromium I noticed it would just hand unless launched by root (terminal).
Which led me to check permissions under /home.
Turns out that somehow my /home/{me}/.config directory was owned by root:root . A simple chown -R ~/.config and a reinstall of gnome got everything working fine
NB: maybe someone with more insight can figure how/why ~/.config was owned by root from a fresh install and setup of systemd ??

ITunes behaving strange file association

I am using the most current version of iTunes (10.2.1.1) and it's behaving very strangely.
I am trying to load some new song files, but windows is asking for me to select a program to associate the file to it (.mp4). ITunes should already be the default player for .mp3/4 files, but it is not even listed as an option on the selection menu. I click browse and guide it to the itunes.exe, and yet when I click on the file, it trys to open in ADOBE. This makes absolutely no sense, and I have no idea why or how this started happening, but the short of it is, I can't load new songs into my Itunes until it's resolved.

It is a problem with files association.

You can drag file directly to iTunes and they should be play fine in iTunes too.

Strange email address associated with my apple id?

A few months ago I got an iphone5c to replace my iphone 4. I hadnt bought credit for itunes until a few days ago. This morning I tried to purchase an album but it said because this was my first time buying anything from the device I needed to prove I was the owner of my apple id by answering security questions, only I couldnt remember the answers from when I made the account so I went to change them. However they sent the vertification email to an email account I've never heard of! I didnt have a rescue email so i added one to see if i could send it to that but it was the same unknown address. I have no idea why the address is associated with my account, and i cant even contact it because most of the name is hidden. can i change the address? why is it associated with my account?

Novice user needs help with associations (strange problem)

Background
=======
I am in the process of updating several Hyperion reports from version 8.3 to 9.3.
Each reports contains a number of sections/frames (eg. Home, Segments, Basic, Location, etc), and each frame contains several items - tables, pivot tables and charts.
Three out of the four reports are working perfectly, and when I connect to each using Dashboard Studio (DS) I can see that the associations for all the items are assigned correctly.
The problem
========
Report 4 only has associations assigned to two of the sections, but the basic functionality (selecting stuff to update charts and tables etc) is working.
I now need to enable the "export" and "sort" buttons in the remaining sections and the only way to do this is to associate the remaining sections using DS. After doing this via the "make a best-guess association" button, the basic functionality is now broken - many charts, pivots and tables have had their visible properties turned off.
Observations
=========
All four reports have the following lines of code at the top of each section:
if (ActiveDocument.Qiq_blnTemplateInitialized)
{ ActiveDocument.Qiq_clsGlobals.Qiq_base_Frame_OnActivate(this) }
If I remove this code in report 4 the basic functionality is restored but there are now issues with the drop-down lists not returning to their initial (unselected) states.
So I think the issue is related to associations and frames. Any thoughts?

I would suggest you try a fresh installation of Leopard on your computer. Make sure you back-up your files that you want to keep before proceeding.
Use the install disc that came with your computer, either by inserting the disc in your disc drive and restarting the computer while holding down the c key, or by initiating the installer from the window that opens automatically when the disc is inserted.
Follow the prompts once presented with the installation environment, but watch for an "Options" button in the lower-left corner of the window. When presented with this, choose "Erase & Install" and select "Mac OS Extended (Journaling)". Continue to the next screen.
Look for the "Customize" button in the lower-left corner. With this screen, you're allowed to select what's installed on your computer. You likely don't need all the printer drivers, and you may or may not need the extra languages packs. X11 is your choice, but I choose to have it installed despite never using it.
Start the installation, and when the installer starts "verifying" your install disc, click the Skip button. Don't interfere with the installation process, and the computer will restart on its own when finished.

Strange Problem..No where the host is associated but still gives UnknownHos

i have a strange problem...
I connect to an smtp server to send emails.
the following is the exception i get always
it gives me Unknownhostexception : aatsv001 (my PC name)
but i had never used it to send mails..nor in the email addresses(recipients)..but still it comes..

Strange file association - Can't open directory

hi,
always when I want to open a directory in the gnome main menu, gnome wants to open it with the "Archive Manager". I think I've done this by updating the file associations in krusader (which, by the way, can't save file associations? ). Now, I can't find where to change the file association to nautilus again!?
Any suggestions?

Strange icon associated with Firefox

Yesterday I noticed that when I use ALT-TAB to switch between running programs on my desktop there was a new icon I'd never seen before. There was no text label on it, but if I went to it, I actually went to FF. I confiremed it is associated with FF by closing every other task. The icon only appears when FF is running. There is nothing under windows task manager to associate with it.
It looks like this:

I may have found the solution myself. Or at least a clue. While investigating something totally unrelated, I was working with ProcessExplorer and noticed in its process navigation pane, the same icon, associated with Trend Micro Office Scan.

Strange behavior after granting a role associated to an access policy.

Greetings.
I am using OIM 11.1.1.3 and I am using also the DBUM Adapter 9.1.0.4.
I Defined 3 roles in OIM after that I defined three access policies with the purpose of provision roles at a database.
Every policy is associated to a role and a DBUM resource.
At the end I have the following policies.
Policy Name OIM Role Database Role
1. Policy Role A - Role A - DBRoleA
2. Policy Role B - Role B - DBRoleB
3. Policy Role B - Role C - DBRoleC.
When a role is granted to OIM User using the Administration Console the correct database role is provisioned at the specified database. But If I revoke a Role from the user and grant the same role again the specified role is not provisioned to the specified database.
Example: An user have "Role A", "Role B" ,"Role C" at the database the user have DBRoleA, DBRoleB, DBRoleC.
After revoking "Role A" from the user the database have the correct roles DBRoleB and DBRoleC.
But if the "Role A" is granted again to the user the DBRoleA is not provisioned at the database.
I enabled the dbum log file and it looks like the wrong role was chosen and the DBRoleB is the database role to be provisioned. Because we see at the log file when the "Role A" is granted to the user:

Finally we opened a Service Request to solve this issue, and it was a bug "OIM SENDING WRONG ENTITLEMENT NAME TO TARGET DURING ADD ENTITLEMENT OPERATION" and Oracle generated the patch 13499465 for DBUM Connector. Oracle had to provide us a new Readme to apply this patch because it wasn't well explained. So far the patch seems to work, we are making some tests now to be sure that the issue is solved. I just want to share that with the OIM community.

IMessage associated with random strange number

I gave my daughter my old iPhone 4S to use. Unlocked it and went to tmobile and got a micro sim with her number on it. It makes calls from her number but when she sends a message from iMessage it is from a random other number not even in our area code. When I went into settings the number is greyed out and cannot be changed. Help

Turn off iMessage on the device. Then do a reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home button together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone reboots, go back in and activate iMessage. It should activate correctly. Have you had any issues with your iCloud account on your phones?

File associations in Windows 8.1 for applications on a network location

Hi,
From Windows 7 to Windows 8 it has been done alot of changes regarding file file assocations. It seem that the main reason was security and was "patched" by having Windows read the hash for the applications instead of where the application was
located.
but there seem to be some major hicups and there is limited info on the web covering these issues.
First issue: when running: Dism /Online /Export-DefaultAppAssociations:\\Server\Share\AppAssoc.xml and then creating a GPO configuration pointing to
thi XML file. With this feature only common file extensions is supported and when users are changing to another computer, these settings is not possible to syncronize using roaming profiles.
Second issue: In the appassoc.xml file applications must be either appid(metro app) or common application on local harddrive to be registered and not a .EXE
file on a network location.
It seems a little strange if this is the case and if there is no other options for administratos to set file associations in more flexible ways. Does anyone have some more info on

You could use Group policy for file associations or you could deploy the xml file during image deployment. However as you mentioned that the file associations only applies to common application on local hard drive or metro app.

Dreamweaver file type associations

Hi guys.
Just a quick one as it will bug me for ages if I keep trying to figure out why this wont work..
Basically, in dreamweaver when in code view and right clicking a certain image or file and trying to open it in the file-associated program.. It's not working..
I've set up the definitions for .png files to open in Photoshop CS6, however, every time I try and open the associated file it says that Photoshop CS6.app cannot be found or there isn't enough system memory to open the program..
Obviously I have made sure that the path to the program is correct at /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Adobe Photoshop CS6.app and I know for a fact that I have enough system memory as I'm running 32GB.. It's confusing me to hells end and it would be really useful to have this functionality back (obviously).
I know its strange and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't try to open linked files from within a page (code or design view). If you double click the file in question in the Files panel it should open with whatever app is the default per your OS. If you still get the error messages from that method, there's something else causing it.

Photoshop CS4 - File Type Associations and Bridge CS4

I have both Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop Elements 7.0 installed on my PC running Windows Vista Home Premium, I removed Photoshop CS3 after installing CS4. The issue I have is that if I look at file associations in Bridge CS4 under Preferences, none of the file types are set to Photoshop CS4, they are set to either Explorer or Photoshop Elements 7.0. The even stranger thing is also that if I try to change the associations, Photoshop CS4 is not even displayed as an option, as Photoshop Elements 7.0 always is, I have to browse in order to find it. This works, but I find it strange. Also within Windows none of the file associations are set to Photoshop CS4 after installation, I have to change them manually, again by browsing for it. I remember that in previous installs of Photoshop there was the possibility to change or use default file associtions, does CS4 have this? I guess this is not really a problem, but I find it somewhat strange that Elements 7.0 is always offered as an option but not CS4 and makes me feel it hasn't installed properly. Anyone have any ideas?

CCleaner did the trick for me too!
But I still suspect something about CS4 installer is not right.
Under CS3 I used Vista "open with">"choose program">"always use" to assiciate bridge CS3 with my canon camera raw files.. At that time it did work.
After installing CS4, I wanted to do the same with bridge CS4 but it didnt work. In the "choose program" vista menu, whatever I was doing, I couldnt select bridge CS4 it was always comming back to photoshop cs4 or bridge cs3.
After using CCleaner, I could re-associate the way I want right away.
So my word to photoshop's installer developper: please try to reproduce this issue, it should be easy, and make the installer avoid this.

En servicio me resetearon el celular, y descargaron el sistema en mi Lap, pero ni así, alguien tiene idea a que se deba esto y como puedo corregir esta anomalia tan atormentosa.
