A google-search shows that this must be some kind of spam:

didn't anyone else notice that? couldn't find any info about that...

  • Commenting feature in packages page, like in the AUR's ones.

I noticed AUR packages page has a feature letting you to add comments. I find this particularly useful because it enables focused commenting by the users of such packages. You can easily keep track of bugs, possible breakage, any kind of problems with the package, and basically it would be very nice to have this kind of feature for the same reasons we already have it in the AUR site.
    Peace.

For discussion and "something went wrong but don't know what exactly" issues there's forum, IRC and ML. Using informative subjects helps finding relevant forum / ML threads.
Wiki articles have their discussion pages too, so if you're unsure about something, post there.
Finally, I find AUR comments lacking:
    1. You can't sticky a comment.
    2. Hell, you can't even link to a specific comment.
    3. You can't have threaded comments so if you are dealing with more than one issue at the same time it's a mess.
    4. Lack of bbcode-like (or similar) formating (although the bug tracker doesn't support formating either).

  • Anybody else having Arch mail being marked as spam?

i dont know who to tell this to - but i just received an email subject "AUR Comment for hydra" and it went into gmail's spam folder. Can't say I've seen that. My mail goes direct to my gmail account though, with no forwarding in between... Just hit the "Not Spam" button so the Bayesian filter can learn that you don't think it's spam.

  • [SOLVED] Quake Live AUR Package 64 bit support

I juts found this quakelive package on AUR: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=43938
I tried it, but it said no x86_64 support.
Then, I tried this patch, but I still get this:

I also read on the AUR comments that if I change the checksum it's possible to install it:
I have 64bit up and running but i had to change the checksum to fa54d8f7e7be7c7f04cbc52cf3e693ff. (Made the checksum out of the downloaded file, i know, not a good idea, but it works)
    Maybe new version?

  • Xbmc-git AUR package: discussion in here please

As we have some problems at the moment with GCC 4.4 breaking the compilation of XBMC and generally the AUR comments page is no BBS, i'd like to encourage anyone to discuss your issues here and not on the comments page.
    Thanks,
    haggy

    Good news everybody!
With the help of cptspiff in the xbmc irc channel i have come up with a patch which fixes these issues with GCC 4.4. It's not a bug with 4.4. as stated previously but rather a "feature" as it is a bit more strict since that version. For the record, an explanation can be found at
        *  http://udrepper.livejournal.com/20948.html and
        *  http://www.linux-archive.org/fedora-dev … trchr.html
The patch can be found at: http://xbmc.org/trac/ticket/6627 but i'm nearly sure it will find its way into the normal svn tree soon so that there's no need for another patch.
    Thanks,
    /Haggy

  • Istanbul in AUR is broken and out of date!

    Hello everyone,
I've just tried to install istanbul (screen recorder) from the AUR and is broken. Is there any way to notify the maintainer about this problem?
    Thanks.

You can leave a comment on the AUR comment page. If you have an user in AUR, you can also look up the maintainer's email address.

  • Linux-ck prerelease 3.3.0-1 thread - no discussion in the AUR plz

Mods - please don't delete this thread.  I started it to allow early adopters of linux-ck in the 3.3.x tree to post issues in a place that isn't the AUR.
    This thread is beneficial because:
    1) It allows issues to get worked out prior to a broad release of the package series.
    2) It does not bother folks subscribed to the aur page.
    3) Keep the signal-to-noise ratio high in the aur page.
Since so many people want to start using linux-ck in the 3.3.x tree but we still don't have a stable version of BFQ yet.  So:

D'oh, Sorry about that, it definitely makes more sense to use the forums. Deleted my AUR comments and moved my posts here.
Not sure if it's just me, but I am unable to build a working kernel with the 3.3.0-1 source package. My server (i686; SysVInit with XFS Root) won't even compile it. My laptop (x86_64; Systemd with compressed BTRFS Root) is able to compile it, but it complains that the disk is full on any action requiring disk writes (as a result, most of my daemons fail, and I cannot launch X). This doesn't occur when touching my ext2 /boot partition and df reports that the partition isn't full. I'm using localmodconfig and nconfig (changing only the processor type and tick frequency), though the same thing happens with an unaltered PKGBUILD.
The server's compile fails with this output:

    In reply to Zucca's Comment:
Temp space isn't an issue, I've got my boxes setup to handle kernel compiles. The server uses a 2 GB reiserfs partition, and the laptop uses a 3.5 GB tmpfs mount. I'm not using zramswap, so that wouldn't be causing issues either.
Would there be any odd compiler/log output if I were to run out of inodes? The server's compile abruptly stops with no erroneous output aside from makepkg saying that the build failed. The laptop only has issues under the 3.3 CK kernel, 3.2.12-1-ARCH is working normally (3.2.13-1-CK was fine too).

  • [Solved] redeclipse 1.5

    Solved 2015-04-06
All issues (for me at least) are now resolved; the AUR package can now be built, installed and run 'as-is' without any difficulties.
Red Eclipse has been updated to 1.5. The redeclipse AUR package is flagged as out-of-date; pending maintainer action, I had an interest in getting this to work on my computer, and was able to do so after some trial-and-error.
Update 2015-04-05: The redeclipse AUR package has been updated by the new maintainer (and upstream has tagged v1.5.1, so it is updated to that); however, I still had some issues with it locally, so have updated this thread to document them rather than clutter up the AUR comments.
I note below the changes I made locally, for the benefit of anyone interested. It is likely that some of these should be reported upstream as well. Feedback on either of these points is most welcome!

You will need to update the "<!--redacted-->" part in the source array, since I'm not sure I got a suitable server in the rotation to add here. You can determine a more suitable one from the AUR package comments, or from upstream's download page; the md5sum is the one published by upstream.
Update 2015-04-03: Resolved by the new maintainer using source archives straight from GitHub.
    (3) Compile, package, install and run successfully.
All other files in the package remained untouched.
The changes made above accomplish two things:
Prevent the 'make system-install' command from failing, either due to a missing directory (the patch file), missing makedepend (it requires ed now), or not finding the "_linux" suffix that now appears on the binaries after compilation.
Prevent Red Eclipse from erroring on launch with "could not find config directory"; the directory in question is included in the source, but is outside of the "src/" directory and is not installed/linked to by 'make system-install' directly for some reason.
Update 2015-04-05: Most issues no longer occur per PKGBUILD and upstream updates.
I hope this is useful to someone; as before, any feedback is welcome.

My thanks to @carl.george for picking up maintainership of this package .
Unfortunately, I still had some issues locally with the now-updated PKGBUILD, and have updated the original post to again reflect those changes made to get it working locally. I also wanted to illustrate the exact errors seen here that prompted these changes originally.
I will of course live with it if no-one else sees these (i.e. if they turn out to be peculiarities of the setup here).
    (1) Without 'ed' as a makedepend...
('ed' is not part of either the 'base' or 'base-devel' groups.)
    <!--redacted-->
Update 2015-04-04: No longer an issue per PKGBUILD update.
    (2) Without system-install.diff...
(redeclipse builds and installs OK, but then exits immediately at launch.)
    % redeclipse
    could not find config directory
    [Exit code 1]
    (3) Without the APPCLIENT and APPSERVER parameters on the 'make system-install' line...
    <!--redacted-->
Update 2015-04-05: No longer an issue per upstream changes.
    (4) Without copy and link of config directory...
(redeclipse builds and installs OK, but then exits immediately at launch.)
    <!--redacted-->
Update 2015-04-05: Now irrelevant as this is the subject of an upstream patch.

Always check the AUR page of the respective package before opening a thread. The answer is there often enough.

Some thanks should go to berbae. I just mashed up an AUR comment post of his with a little code fix I located in a blog post at the confignewton tech blog (dittoThanks).

Please swap out both of those patches (ipager.patch + ipager-gcc43.patch), instead using ipager-1.1.0-20120429.patch for a flawless build. The solution is obvious, after re-reading the manual.

But it would be nice to have the maintainer wakwanza make the changes in AUR and increment the package release to 1.1.0-9
Could you send a mail to him, and if there is no answer in one month, ask a TU in the AUR-general mailing list to orphan the package.
And then you or someone else can adopt it and make the changes.
    You're welcome.
wakwanza has been notified and on the clock since yesterday a.m. The aur commenting system generates an email to the maintainer with every new comment, I've read. But since this package's recent maintenance history is sketchy at best, I reached out to him/her myself. We will wait now.

Also you should have posted the link of the blog you found, but here it is: http://confignewton.com/?p=152
I didn't try to rebuild the package recently, I presume it doesn't build with actual build chain tools...
I will try your patch, but I prefer first that the maintainer updates the package in AUR to 1.1.0-9 with your modifications.
Thank you for the link. I did not want to cross any lines into website solicitation, so I proceeded too catiously there.
Yes, please try this and post back.

  • [solved] After sytem update ALSA only plays sound for root

Hello. Yesterday I performed a system update as usual, and after rebooting I found that my user account does not have any sound anymore. Root has sound just fine. I checked and my user is still in the audio group. I even removed him from the group, added him again, and rebooted but it did not help.
I get these error messages in a terminal:
    mplayer:
alsa-lib: pcm_dmix.c:989:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to create IPC semaphore
    speaker-test:
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:989:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to create IPC semaphore
    Playback open error: -13,Permission denied
Running these with a sudo works 100% fine. Alsamixer levels for my user are normal too.
    WORKAROUND: Restart timidity service.
SOLUTION: Do not run timidity as a service in the first place.

    Thanks for replying.
My root user actually doesn't play sound, I just tried to play some for testing purpose after my normal user suddenly just had silence.
Unfortunately those IPC-changes did not help. However, I removed my /etc/asound.conf file completely for testing purpose and voila, sound suddenly works again. So it seems the last update changed something that does not accept my asound configuration anymore. I will try to experiment a bit with its contents to further narrow it down.
    Ok, this is strange
    I commented out an entry
      period_time 0
and after that my user had sound again. Then I restored that entry and...sound still works.
I will pretend I didn't see anything and just move along I guess.

  • [SOLVED]pgl service error

I'm on a fresh Arch installation that I set up yesterday. I installed KDE and a few applications, including pgl-cli.
When I run systemctl start so that pgl starts working, it hangs for a minute and then errors out with "Job for pgl.service failed."
I tried deleting my settings and using the default ones from the package, but the same thing happens.
Every other service I enabled worked just fine (kdm, networkmanager, etc). Only pgl has this error. The wiki and AUR comments don't mention this error, so I'm stuck.
Does anyone have this issue as well?
    Thanks in advance.

It doesn't hang, it’s working really hard to download all the block lists you have selected (or not, the defaults are pretty extensive). You can see it chugging along by taking periodic peeks at “systemctl status pgl.service” to see the different wget being executed.
Anyway, I’ve updated the pgl packages to deactivate the source of the problem (i.e. systemd 90s time out) while I work on a more elegant solution.

  • A password manager for Midori

    Hello to everyone,
being a would-be Midori user that lacks a password manager, some time ago I made a script that worked as a password manager. Now I've made a Midori extension for this task and made it available on AUR http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=49314. From the README file in the package:
The password manager extension for Midori is based on formhistory.c and on my
    userscript for password management (http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/62098).
It works by reading the network passwords with domain "midori" from the login
keyring and storing them in a GHashTable. Whenever your browser loads a page
with a corresponding address in the GHashTable, a script that inserts user
and password is built and executed on that page. Whenever you submit a login
form, a similar script is built and executed, and returns the new data, which
is stored in the GHashTable and in the login keyring.
When you choose to never store a password for a site, the extension will store
a user/password pair equal to __never_store_here__/whatever. The user part of
the pair (i.e. __never_store_here__) is used to remember that passwords must
    not be stored.
Sometimes the extension fails to detect that a form has been submitted, so it
won't store your user/password pair. In such cases use the lpins utility to
manually insert the pair into the login keyring, like this
    $ lpins http://www.averystrangelogin.com user password
Note that the pair is inserted in the login keyring, not in the GHashTable, so
you need to deactivate/reactivate the extension so it'll read the new pair.
    Missing features:
    * I don't know how to check when the login is successful, so wrong user-
      password pairs will be stored.
    * There isn't a utility for listing/deleting/modifying passwords, use seahorse
for these tasks (Midori passwords have domain "midori").
    * I don't know how to deal with password forms that uses md5hash for basic
protection (like ubuntu forums), so the extension won't work for these sites.
Please note that I'm not an expert in internet security, crypting algorithms,
javascript programming or webkit programming, so use this extension at your
    own risk.
I sent this extension upstream, but the author, Christian Dywan, would like to have it merged with form history. Which is beyond the limited time I can spend on these activities.
Please send bug reports and comments in the AUR comments area of the package.

You should really consider calling support and having them clarify their licensing agreements for you, because you are grossly incorrect about almost everything you've said.
RoboForm Everywhere and only RoboForm Everywhere is an annual subscription (allowing you to use any RoboForm product on all of your devices for one annual fee).
the RoboForm Desktop and RoboForm2Go products are still a one time charge for the life of the version and do not have to be renewed annually at all. They do not expire.
Also, what older mac version are you hoping to revert back to? RoboForm for mac was just released as a full version (not a beta) within the past few months. Mac users cannot revert back to an older version of the Mac software because there is no older version. If you purchased a license of your mac, the current version is still included with the license you already own. There is no previous version.
Although the .rfp filetype is used only by RoboForm and not compatible with other password managers, you can still export the data to create a backup. You can also created a printed list of your data if needed.
You are not entitled to Windows 7 for free just because you bought Windows Vista and RoboForm (as well as most software) is no different. I understand why you may be unhappy about the upgrade but you should research more.
Also, LastPass has had multiple security breaches in the past year, RoboForm has had none in the history of the company, just something to think about.

  • Question about doBackgroundProcessing

    Hello experts,
I'm trying to understand how does the Background Processing work.
I spent a lot of time trying to identify an issue in a project and finally I found that BackgroundProcessing is deeply involved in my issue but I still don't understand why it happened this way.
Initially I had 2 datasources, DS_1 and DS_2, (loading at initialization) using the same Bex query.
In the "On Result Set Changed" event of DS_1, I'm calling APPLICATION.doBackgroundProcessing() to perform some background task (dynamic filtering of the dataset), I agree it is maybe not the best idea but it works fine just like I wanted.
Both datasources are displayed in a chart.
Then I had to add a third datasource, DS_3, using a different Bex query, that is also loading on initialization (all 3 charts are displayed on the initial screen).
This is the moment when I started not understanding the behaviour of the application. The 3 charts are refreshing in a cyclic way endlessly!
I quickly had some doubt about the background processing and I tried to identify which action in this process is at the origin of this strange behaviour, commenting successively all the actions.
At the end, absolutely everything is commented in the "On Background Processing" event, and the problem remains unchanged!
But removing the call of APPLICATION.doBackgroundProcessing() solves the problem, the charts display only once.
Then my question is: does doBackgroundProcessing method perform additional tasks to the one that are defined in the script. Why running an empty "On Background Processing" from the "On Result Set Changed" event generates this cycling refreshing of the charts.
I'm running DS1.4 SP1 on BIP (the problem doesn't occur when running in local mode).
For sure I will consider rewriting the script that was running in background and move it to a global function.
    Any explanation is welcome.
    Christian

Well, I'm still more conviced I'm dealing with a bug of design studio.
I have completely redesigned the datasource loading sequence, using a counter and loading them sequentially in the background process.
I have also completely removed the processing in the "On result set change" event for all the data sources.
This does not solve the problem at all, the charts are still blinking and refreshing every 5 seconds.
Then I have reduced the number of data sources and the number of chart, and started to investigate.
In fact I have 5 charts (linked to 5 datasources) in one pagebook, and 3 other charts (linked to 3 datasources) in the first page of a second pagebook.
If I set as non visible all the panels that content the 8 charts until all the datasources are loaded and then I set as visible the panel with the 5 charts, then the charts appear and do not blink!
But, If I set my first pagebook visible as soon as the five first datasources are loaded (thinking that I will continue to load the datasources for the non visible charts in background) then each time I load one of the remaining datasources, all the charts of the first pagebook blink and refresh 5 times! (exactely the number of charts). Then my first page blinks 3 x 5 = 15 times five seconds each so more than one minute!!!
Loading all the datasources before displaying the first pagebook is not a solution, because when I switch to the second pagebook, the 3 charts (for which the datasources are already loaded) blink 6 time! And when I return to the first pagebook, my five charts blink again five time (about 20 seconds).
At this moment I have no advanced logic in the Dashboard, no code in the events of datasource or pagebook selection, I only call panel.setvisible(true) or panel.setvisible(false) to show or hide a panel.
I'm wondering if it is not linked with a bug that has been corrected in SP1 of DS1.4 : It was not possible on BI Platform to load more than one datasource if the query was using hierarchy variables. In my case all my queries are using hierachy variables!
Well, first I have to find a way to show something different of a blinking screen at my tomorrow's presentation, and then I will try to build a basic test case and create a ticket...
    Christian
