Strange battery indicator problem....

I'm having a very weird problem with my iPod, any help would be greatly appreciated!
I recieved an iPod Video 80gig as a replacement under the Best Buy replacement plan. At first I was very happy, as I had turned in a 40gig photo...so it was a nice upgrade.
But I soon realized something was wrong. The iPod simply wouldn't charge beyond a certain point, about 3/4 up the indicator. I would have it charge for days, on both a USB and AC adaptor charger, and it would never complete charging. From there, the battery began to hold no charge.
Figuring it was just a bad battery, I paid to have it replaced. I was sure this would fix the problem, but it seems it hasn't. Once again, it won't charge beyond about 3/4 of the bar, no matter how long it charges. It will play fine, but the battery seems to drain at a progressed rate...not as bad as before I had the battery replaced, but still quicker than it should.
Strange this is, the place I sent it to, to replace the battery, did a test to make sure nothing else major was wrong with it. But nothing turned up.
What the heck is going on with my iPod? Is it actually fully charging and just not showing it? But still, something seems wrong. Maybe I just got a bad iPod back. I plan on returning it to BestBuy for yet another, but I would love to hear anybodies theory on this or if anybody else has had the same problem.
Thanks in advance!

dk07, glad to know I'm not the only one having this problem. I hope you can get it figured out as well. It is very frustrating.
Jeff, I appreciate the links, but I've been over those first two quite a few times, with no success. The last one is a bit more interesting though.
I guess what I mean to ask is; Is it possible that my iPod is actually charging all the way, even if I never get a "plug" icon and the bar never goes above 3/4 on the battery indicator, no matter how long I charge it? Can the battery indicator be 'that' off? I have yet to run into a help topic or tutorial that addresses specifically an iPod (with a brand new battery) never switching to the plug icon or never going beyond a 3/4 bar. I am willing to accept that the battery indicator may be inaccurate as to the actual charge, but the specific issues seem not to be as common as the general one; and that is what bugs me.

  • Iphone 3G strange battery indicator readings (not typical issue)

I know a lot of people are complaining about long charge times and not reaching full charge but my problem is quite unique and after many hours searching I have not found a similar issue.
I have noticed that my iPhone charges very quickly usually in less than an hour. I verify this by looking for the plug icon at the top of the screen and at the horizontal battery indicator seen when waking the phone from sleep.
The strange part besides my fast charge times is that sometimes when I charge my phone from about 20-30% battery life it will show the lightning icon at the top..then a few minutes later I will see the plug even though the phone is obviously not close to being fully charged...the plug will go away after a few minutes and revert to the lightning until it finally finishes. Is this situation a reason to get a replacement unit? I already installed the latest update. I am not noticing any signs of poor battery life or stuck indicator besides this one issue. Am I the only person that has the plug icon show when the iPhone is in the middle of being charged???
also I have reset the phone multiple times yet in the usage menu, it shows that the phone has never been reset. These are all minor quibbles may be but I want to know if it is justified to seek a replacement phone...thanks

Hey, i did experience the same problem. my battery would charge half way, displaying the lightning icon, and then the it would stop charging, displaying the plug icon. my battery wouldn't charge to the max. I was pretty ****** off about it so i went to my nearest apple store and told them about the problem; now i have an appointment to see a technician. After going to the apple store i used my iphone until the battery was completely dead and then i plugged it to my computer. After a few hours it charged completely (plug icon appearing when fully charged)???? i don't know what happened. Now i'm just testing my iphone's battery life to see the the problem arises again. so far it seems to have improved after i completely drained the battery. (tip)
I'm gonna keep on testing the battery and see if the problem arises again.

  • Battery indicator problem!

I have a nokia x6 and i have a problem. The battery indicator shows full battery until 30% left. (i used bettery monitor application.) and ther rest of the battery indicator lines dissapear very quickly. It happens in my E72 and 5320 xpressmusic too. What can i do for a more precise battery information?

The standard battery indicator is never going very accurate. However, you can try to make it a little more accurate by occassionally allowing the battery to run down and only charge when it beeps low battery. There is no need to wait for the phone to turn off as this could lead to other problems.

  • N97 NAM Battery Indicator Problem

Hi, my Nokia N97's battery indicator does not seem to work anymore.  It always shows full until the battery runs out and then the device shuts off.  The battery indicator did work the very first time I tried it.  I fully charged it and then after leaving the phone on overnight, the device had shut itself off.  I assumed it was because the phone ran out of battery so I recharged it.  After 3 hours of charging, I decided to disconnect the device from the charger and thats when the battery indicator stopped working.  It's been showing full bars the entire day, even after heavy usage.  I tried a reset (*#7370#) but that didn't fix it.  The phone is fine, just the battery indicator doesn't seem to work.  Also, after doing the reset, I lost the Ngage games.  Does anyone know how to fix this battery problem and retreive the Ngage games that came with the phone.  Thanks!

I have Very similar problem. Battery indicator shows full for a day, two even once for 4 days! And on th next day it starts RAPIDLY going down it is hard to finish the day without recharge.
It is VERY annoying as all my phones warn me at least a day before ran out of power (E71 is Very Good example) .

  • N95 battery indicator problem. I'm becoming desper...

Hello. Two months ago I bought a new n95. I was so happy with my phone until three days ago I realized that the battery indicator was the whole time at full. And it kept indicating full battery until the phone shut down. So I decided to perform a firmware reinstall and hard reset. Immediately after the firmware reinstall the phone was indicating normally (only three bars). But yesterday in the night, after charging it, again the problem came up, and now my phone is again indicating full battery eventough I have used GPS, music, calls and everything to low battery down. I can't be reinstalling every time, something's wrong with my phone.
Can somebody help me? I don't know what to do, I'm really becoming desperate.
This phone never fell, or hit; in fact, it was treated like a diamond.
Thanks a lot in advance for your help and sorry for my english.
    Mauricio.

Hmmm .. I would suspect hardware: either the phone's not reading the battery power properly or there's a problem with the battery. Despite it starting to work after the reset, I can't see it being software somehow.
I would take the phone to a service center and see if you can have them test your phone with other batteries and your battery with other phones - make sure your battery's not fully charged when you take it in.

  • Lumia 820 battery indicator problems

I have some problems with the battery indicator. Sometimes it freezes at random percentages. Ex: i charged my phone; the battery indicator shows 100% and it remains at 100% even though i use the phone for many hours. I know the battery is not full and the indicator changes only when the battery reaches critically low level. Some other times it freezes at 77 or so. Ex2: during charging the indicator shows actual battery level(let's say 25%). But if i try listening some music, the indicator goes instantly to 100%.
i find these software problems a little bit annoying.

    hi mate,
have you tried performing a soft reset (pressing the volume down and power buttons together until the phone vibrates)? also ensure that you have the latest Nokia system app updates installed from the Store. have you also taken your battery out and replaced it after ten minutes. failing that, you may need to perform a hard reset (Settings > About > Reset your phone). make a backup before doing this to PC and/or online storage first of your data, as a hard reset wipes all data.
Failing the above, you will need to take your phone to your local Nokia Care for inspection: http://nokia.com/support

  • N73 ME battery indicator problem

    Hi everybody,
I'm happy user of N73 ME but recently I've noticed starnge behaviour of my phone. The battery indicator remains in the same position as after reboot. When its fully charged it will show 100% till it discharge and turn off. If I restart it will change to current charge value. I applied the newest FW, hard erased - it didn't help.
Do you know which part is responsible for this?
    Thanks in advanced,
    Marek

It happens on all Nokia phones i think.
If i web browse for a couple of minutes it will still be full bars but when i turn off then on it will show near the correct status.
On my old 6280 the bars dropped from full to 1 bar.
Nothing can *exactly* recognise the batteries status, It's just an estimate or near the actual status of the battery.Message Edited by 6280 on 02-Oct-200708:58 PM

    Hi  amy_t92,
Thank you for replying, I apologize for the delay in reply.
As per the query we understood that you are facing the issue with the battery indication is incorrect in your lenovo s510p laptop.
As you have mentioned that even after the energy management the issue still persists, please perfrom a battery gauge reset and check for the issue.
    To perform the gauge reset:-
Go to start search type Power Manager
Select battery tab and select battery maintance.
Click on perform under battery gauge
Also check with different battery if available, as this might be issue with battery.
Hope this helps! Do post us back for further queries.

  • Strange battery/AC problem on 40gb Photo

    Hi everyone,
My problem is that within the past week or so, my 40gb Ipod photo always says it's on AC power, meaning that the battery icon is always fully green and has the small lightning bolt imposed on it. This must change how the battery works, because now it won't put itself to sleep, and the battery drains completely unless I plug it in. The battery still has some ability to hold a charge, but not as much as it used to.
    Any ideas?
    thanks -

  • 6280, Getting HOT and Battery Indicator

    Hi,
I've discusssed this 'HOT' thing before but the only answer i got was to go 12KM for a Nokia Service Centre.
Basically after i play a few games and take pictures and make a 40 minute call the phone gets hot, The keypad feels like it's going to blow up into my face!
And Before anyone suggests a NSC Or taking it back to my nearest 3 store(500 yards away) Is this completly normal for this phone to get hot when using it?
    And the next question!
The battery Indicator, After i tiny tiny bit of use it currently says battery full, but it says on the 3 network website, 'Manufactures recommend you turn your phone off and on regularly for maximum performance' or what ever it says, Before i turn the phone off the battery is full right? but when i put off then put on when it comes to the homescreen it goes to 1 bar, this is ridiculos and annoying.
Why can't it show low in the first place? i mean really this is stupid i don't know when to charge the Phone!
    Thanks!

Don't tell me you haven't heard about the 3UK branded 6280 that went up in smoke recently...
The extra heat is usually due to the fact it's being used on a 3G/UTMS network as it requires more power than using a GSM network.
As you can't lock your handset to GSM (yet another reason I'll never use 3UK), there is not much you can do about it.
The battery indicator problem is common to most Nokia's I've seen.

  • ¿Problems with battery indicator?

Hi guys of apple community I have a problem and I would like to give me tips to solve the problem
The problem is that the battery indicator on my ipod touch 4G has a strange behavior while charging indicator shows the battery charged (but the battery is not fully charged) and there are times when the battery indicator indicates the battery is still loading (but I know that the battery is fully charged) This is not a problem that really affects me because the battery works fine I am concerned to know why these problems happen if something serious I have no guarantee to bring the ipod touch to repair
Could you tell me if this is normal or if it is really a bad thing? I tried several power adapters and multiple computers but the problem is not resolved
I have firmware 4.3.5 with no jailbreak

  • IOS 4.2.1 iPhone 3G - battery drain / indicator problem

Since past few days this iPhone has started behaving strangely. Battery indicator will show as low (red bar) even when it's been on charge. Power off and on and it will show full but then over course of about 15 minutes the indicator will drop down to below 20% (get the 20% warning dialog) then it seems to settle at just below that mark. power off and on and remains indicating low battery.
Don't know how long it will last with that battery level as I am not the user of the phone.
Not yet done a full reset / restore, this will be the next thing to try.
Anyone know what might be causing this? Does it suggest that the battey is dying?

You might try calibrating the meter by draining the battery down until the phone shuts off, then recharging fully. It should calibrate after two cycles. When you plug the phone in it might take a few minutes for the phone to come back on.
Or, the battery could be getting weak or the charging circuit could be getting bad.

The battery indicator on the left side of my Macbook Pro shows battery empty all the time, evrn though the battery is charged. It also takes two or three minutes to stand by. Both the problem started at the same time so I think they may be related. What could be the cause of the problems?

  • Strange battery problem..

I noticed that when i charge my phone overnight and take it off the charger the battery drops from 100 to 99 in less than a minute. This is my second iPhone 4, First one had the home button wiggles and that one never had this battery problem.
Now what i do is after the battery drops to 99 right away i do a hard reset and that seems to fix it, but my question is whats causing it? and is it software or a hardware glitch? and does anyone else have this problem? to be honest i don't want to have to exchange this again its getting annoying at this point everything else is fine and don't feel like going thro the risk of having another problem with a different phone. Thanks all

I try charging my ipod for 4 hours as usual. Then when its done i take it off the as and I turn it on and listen to a few songs for about 6 mins then the screen pops out a short message that says no power please connect to power, but the ipod mini already has full power, then it shuts off in about 20 seconds. I then press a button and it comes up a Apple sign it it shows it has 85% less power then couple mins later the battery indicator goes back to full power but it does the same thing over and over again. Then i try charging it again it does the same thing again. Whats the problem?
