Strange beeping sou

Sometimes when I turn on my Zen Micro instead of booting up it freezes at the Creative opening screen and then starts beeping, it beeps in a kind of pattern, i dont quite know how to explain it. The only way I can get it to do anything though is by taking out the battery and then putting it back in, usually I have to go into rescue mode and then reboot from there then. If that works which it usually takes a few tries. I am very frustrated with this since it does it with no rhyme or reason. The beeping kind of is annoying too and that also makes me upset. Please help!!

Hey friends I was reading this troubleshooting description and it fits with my problem. My Zen micro hangs with the Creative Logo and that weird-kindof-periodic beep (like a 2/6's or 2/8's duration beep)
The very real problem for me is that my Zen Micro never works again!. I tried and i tried every one of the options in recovery mode (scan, format, firmware and reboot) but it also hangs when it tries to do any option. For example it hangs either at "Scanning disc" or "Erasing firmware" messages,
Please help me i'm desperate 'cause nothing seems to work, i li've in Mexico and it's not easy to find some Creative Lab's Lab for doing check on my Zen or part replacement. Sorry about my english.

  • X40 strange beeps

    Hi everyone!
I don't know anything about computers!
I bought a used X40, and now I am hearing strange beeps every now and then. It seems to be coming from the hard disk. I say "seems" bc I have read that HDs don't beep. Well, all I can say is that it "seems" to be coming from there. It is not the really loud sort of beep that happens when you open or close the lid or do other things. I've turned all those off. Nor is it the keyboard beep from hitting certain keyboard combinations. It's a quieter sort of beep. Just sort of a "blip".
I can't correlate it with any activity. It will beep every few minutes even when I'm not touching the computer. It seems to happen after I've been using it for a while - just typing a Word document. It also seems to happen after the computer has come out of sleep mode.
Any ideas about what this means, or how to deal with it?

i think i know the sound. kinda like snapping a lid on tupperware, right?  it's probably the hard drive. i have three x40s and i just changed the hard drives around. the one has a 40 gig that makes that sound. the 60 gig doesn't and the 20 gig doesn't just the 40. it'll do it in any computer i put it in. the internal disc reader makes the sound,  when i was cloning it i could really hear it. it just makes that sound whenever, especially when i'm downloading something, or running an application. put your ear on the left palmrest when it does it and see if that's where it's loudest.  as far as i can determine its a normal sound for that particular hard drive.

  • Strange Beep When Shutting Down

Today, when shutting down Windows, I received a strange beep from my MSI Mega 865.  I checked the temp, and it's only 48C.  Any ideas on what would make it beep when it shuts down?
Note:  This noise came as soon as I chose to shut down, and prior to any shut down routines actually running, not towards the end of shutting down.
Might be hyper sensitivity on my part, but any strange noise from this Mega PC is highly disconcerting for me.

You guys are going to think I'm beep happy here  , but tonight, when emptying the trash bin, I got another strange beep.  The sound is very low, hard to hear, but it is there.
Would my HardDrive firing up / spinning cause some type of system beep?  Cause that sucker spun up pretty hard/fast when I emptied the recycle bin.

PowerBook G4 - Won't Start Up - 3 Strange Beeps then just LED flashes and sudden death - black screen.
Prior that the powerbook also couldn't start but I could see the Apple logo, so via fire-wire (holding T at start up) I backed up the hard disk.
Check via DiskToolPro the structure, defragmented. Via DiskWarrior rebuild the directory
and finally not been able to access the drive I reformatted the drive via fire-wire drive.
Re-started the powerbook holding C to boot up from DVD - nothing
Re-started again and it give me one long beep and black screen. An indication that my 1gig RAM is bad or gone (?) and the DVD is stuck inside.
Bought new one 1 gig, installed it and now I'm getting only three beeps.
I tried all, changed the slots several times and nothing.
    I tried more as:
c -- to boot from CD (again while the DVD is still inside and I cannot get it out)
cmd-opt-p-r -- to Zap the PRAM,
cmd-opt-n-v -- to clear NV RAM,

But it is the faulty Logic board?
There was a known issue with LBs in 15-inch PowerBooks with 1.5 and 1.67Ghz processors in which one RAM slot would fail. There once was a repair extension program that fixed the problem at no cost, but it is long-expired.
The problem with seeking a used logic board for these models is that so many had their boards replaced that it increases the chances of the boards in the used/pulled markets having the same problem you have now. The replacement program also came close to exhausting the supply of new boards,
If it turns out to be a bad LB and you can't find a replacement, consider how used computer pricing works: A used computer is worth hugely more in parts than if bought as a working unit. I.E, you can probably find a working PowerBook that will cost less than the logic bard alone. It also possible to find a used MacBook Pro for less that a replacement LB.
If you tell us your approximate geographic location, we can see what's available nearby. I'm also retired, and and visiting my wife's family this week so have even more time than usual to help you search.

  • Strange beeps on my Satellite A210

    Hey!
    I have Satellite A210- f16 (PSAELE).
I installed WXP over Vista and I got some strange beeps from the pc time to time.
Than I thought it was because wrong drivers (because Toshiba did not upped original drivers btw).
So I installed Vista back with recovery disk (I have adobe flash player problem btw - Ive removed all Toshiba software).
Now I get the same problem...there are strange beeps from time to time...
Does someone have the same problem(s)?
BTW: when will Toshiba put the official WXP drivers on the site? Does someone know?
    Thanks

    Hi
A friend of mine has a Sat A200 and he has noticed a strange, low beep from time to time coming from the notebook
He has spoken to a technician and he said that this could be a BIOS beep sound.
However, the notebook runs well and he didnt notice any issues.
So dont worry, lean back and enjoy ;)

  • P965 Platinum + strange beeps at start-up (USB related?)

    Hi,
I just installed a new PC based on a MSI P965 Platinum. Everything seems to work fine but at start-up (when you see the BIOS detecting USB devices and the primary IDE) I get some strange beeps. There are about 5 beeps, and they don't sound all the same. When i remove all USB devices these beeps do not occur.
I have succesfully installed windows Vista and everything seems to work fine.
I have already update the BIOS to version 1.4, but no change.
    Anybody any idea ?

you probably have a USB storage device that the BIOS is trying to boot and found it is not bootable, and hence BEEP
maybe you can disable Boot from USB in the BIOS to get rid of the beeping

  • There is a strange beep when an application is opened on Macbook Pro

I need your help please... I am using Macbook Pro 13, Mountain Lion. Recently, it is very strange that there is a beep whenever I open an application.....It is really annoying....Do you guys have the same problem? Please help me get rid of that. Thanks

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • T410: Strange Beeping sound

I've had my T410 for 1 year now. Since day 1, it has had a strange issue with emitting an intermittent beeping sound. Here are some of the details:
Does not happen during start-up. This is when the computer is running
Does not make a difference how long the computer has been turned on - sometimes it will beep within minutes of Windows starting
Beep is not prompted by any user activity - it will beep even if I am away from it
Beep is not transmitted via the speakers - when speakers are on mute, beep is as loud as always
Beep happens roughly once every several minutes, and is loud enough to be heard 15-20' away
    Beep is not regularly timed
Frequency of beeps has gotten worse over the last year
When computer beeps, any user actions hiccup. For example, if I am clicking a link at the time when the computer beeps, I will see my whole computer freeze for a split second, and the link won't be launched. I have to click again after the beep. Same is true for whatever program I happen to be using at the time
Interestingly, my colleague's T410 has the exact same problem. We talked about it and were baffled.
Can anyone help solve this mystery?
    Thanks!
    Additional computer info:
    Windows 7.0, 32-bit
4.0 GB installed RAM (2.98 GB usable)
Intel Core i5 CPU, 2.67 GHz

Some people have reported a noise when the disk heads park themselves. They do this when there is no disk activity for a while (which is rare). The following may help, though it's the Linux view:

  • Audio doesn't work after a BIOS update + strange beeps during bootup

    Hi,
I just bought a MSI motherboard,  915P Neo 2 platinum.
    1.
Everytime I boot up the system, I hear a set of beeps...it sounds like 1 long, 2 short beeps...so I followed the instructions and re-seated the memory and it still does beeping.
    2.
MY MAJOR PROBLEM RIGHT NOW IS
I did a BIOS update using MSI LIVE UPDATE 3 and after that the sound doesn't work.  I check for "unknown PCI devices" under WinXP but there are none.  I re-installed the azalia driver again from the originial driver cdrom and still no luck.
I hope someone can tell me what is happening here and help me to fix it
    thanks a lot in advance
    regards,
    Kittu

    Hi,
    Thanks for the quick reply.
I also did some updates along with BIOS.
    I am listing them below.
I installed the following updates which the "Live update 3" reported as applicated to my system
    MS-7028 v1.50
    Intel INF Update v6.2.1.1001
    VIA SATA&IDE RAID Drivers v5.1.2600.410
After this, I noticed the sound was not working so I re-installed the azalia bus driver and still the sound didn't work.  So, I checked the bios and changed the value of the audio-mode from AC97 to Azalia.  Then, again re-installed the azalia driver but the sound still doesn't work.
How do I re-install the CMedia audio driver ?
How do I clear the CMOS ?
    thanks,
    Kittu

  • Please help - strange beeping in hp pavilion dv6 6c10us laptop (windows 7 64-bit)

I posted about this problem several days ago, but no one responded. It hasn't gone away, and I'm beginning to get worried. My laptop is randomly emitting a high-pitched beep from the area of the fan. It sounds kind of like an alarm or a notification, and I'm pretty sure it's not coming from the speakers. It doesn't happen very often (sometimes it can go for days without making that noise), and I haven't yet noticed any actual malfunction in the computer in conjunction with it, but I still can't figure out why it's happening. There also doesn't seem to be any common thread between the times when it does happen, though I do notice it more when the computer is in the process of shutting down or hibernating. The only fix I've tried so far is updating the drivers; I can't think of anything else to do. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this beeping might mean?

    Hi,

  • Strange beep then my comp freezes

    Hi people, I'm new!
Got a bit of a problem with my MSI mb, at least I think its the mb, I get a weird beep or two then my computer freezes, usually when playing games like Medal of Honour, Sim City 4 and Battlefield1942.
Also it's beeped out of games but my comp doesn't freeze.
I flashed my BIOS to the latest version and it still screws up.
    I have a 2.6P4 a MSI 648 Max mainboard (i think) and an MSI GF4 Ti4800SE running WinXP.
I could give you some more info if you need it but you will have to tell me how to find it  ?(
If anyone can shed any light on this I'd be greatful.
    Thanx.
    Blue.

Also, Keep an eye on your CPU temperatures. They could be too hot therefore cpu overheat protection might be kicking in if you have it enabled in the Bios.
If you can please list your full sysytem specs and your powersupply specs.
    Thanks

  • MacBook Pro Fails to Start Up (Three Strange Beeps)

The MacBook Pro I've had since April of 2007 now won't start up. During use, the screen suddenly was crisscrossed with horizontal lines, and the screen and computer froze. Pushing and holding the power button didn't have any effect, so I unplugged it (the magnetic cord) and let the battery drain (which doesn't take long, since I'm pretty sure the battery is dead, and has been for several months). After letting it sit for awhile (unplugged everything), I plugged it back in, the gray screen came up with a start up chime, and then there were three loud beeps. The computer keeps running and trying to start up, I guess, but the computer screen stays gray. The light on the front of it flashes, and the green light on the power cord flashes green and then orange, and that's where it sits.
So. What's wrong, what can be done, etc.? It's hard to imagine that this computer which is pretty much exactly two years old is dead.

Wow. Okay, I got the screw off, and took out the RAM and reinserted it, and that made it quite a bit worse. Now the screen won't come on at all; it's completely black, even though it sounds like it's starting up. The white light on the front of the MacBook (where you open it if it's closed) blinks continuously.
Update: Took out the RAM and reinstalled it again, and now it's back to the original error described in the first message.
