Strange behavior for volume in calls.

I have some users with a strange problem, this do not apply to all my users. This is the problem reported from the local admin:
Symptoms:
When a user is called internally or by an external party, the call volume will sometimes start off quiet, and may continue to be quiet for the whole call or may jump in volume suddenly during the call.
Cause:
I have not determined the cause, and It is not re-creatable at will, but I have experienced it myself on several occasions. The users affected are using Lync certified headsets or handsets, it happens on both. By troubleshooting I am fairly certain this is
software related and its either Lync or the interaction between Lync and the Windows sound mixer/drivers.
Resolution:
I cannot resolve this issue, but have discovered a temporary work around. When receiving a call that is quiet in volume if you open Lync and click on the settings icon, the volume jumps up to normal levels at this point, usually you only have to do this once
and calls during the rest of the day are ok, but you have to do this every day.
Conclusion:
I cannot be certain if this is a Polycomm driver issue, a Microsoft driver or software issue or something else but users have complained about it on and off since they migrated to Lync EV.
Anyone having ideas on this one?

Right click volume icon in taskbar, select Sounds, click Communications tab, check the option “Mute all other sounds” is not selected.

  • Strange behavior of flex4 service call

    Hi Techies, I am stuck with strange behavior of flex4 service call. Our is a dashboard application where i have four modules(separae file for each) in a page. when page renders all these modules makes separate service call through remote objects. Though destination file is same but methods are separate for each modules. db+java takes 5 second for 1 and 3 module, 9 seconds for third module and 15 seconds for 4th module. Sinch LCDS calls are asynchronous ideally after 5 seconds module 1 and 2 should display data. similarly for 3rd module after 9seconds. For my wonder it doesnt go this way. data for all the modules appears simultaneously after 15-16 seconds.  It behaves like when data for all the modules is available then only it populates charts and grids. Looks like call is being made in sequence and once maximum taking method is done then control returns back to flex. Any pointer will be helpful to improvise this.
    Thanks,
    Rohit

  • Yosemite - strange behavior for all-day events in iCal

    I have been using previous versions of MacOS with my corporate exchange server for quite a while with no issues.  After  the upgrade to Yosemite i have found an odd behavior with inserting all-day events into the exchange calendar.  Same results on MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, both worked fine with Mavericks and now have this issue with Yosemite
    My previous workflow was to double click in the upper bar in calendar, open an event in the all-day area, type  in what I wanted to say, select the exchange calendar from the pull down (I have multiple calendars) and the event was done.
    Now when I do this when I switch the event to the exchange calendar I get  this error message:
    If I select OK the event is then transformed to a 12:00-1:00 meeting and a note is added to the  notes that the time zone isn't right
    Note: the meeting does go into the calendar in Pacific time (my default) and I can edit the event back to an all-day and remove the junk from notes and it stores away like it should.  But this is quite annoying
    Any suggestions

    I have the very same issue. I solved it once somehow but now it's back. I use Plaxo to sync between Outlook-iCal-iPhone and maybe that somehow has confused the phone. Let me know if you find any solutions. I will do the same.

  • Strange Behavior for web deployment of Anyconnect essentials

    We've got a weird problem that has popped up and we've been unable to figure out what's going on.
    We have instructed our user community to start their VPN sessions by connecting to our ASA 5520 with a browser to download (if necessary) and initiate the Anyconnect essentials VPN client.  Everything was working fine until a few days ago.
    We have had several people report the same problem.  They connect with the browser, enter their login information and are greeted with our "authorized use only" message by the ASA.  Then, instead of downloading (if necessary) and starting the VPN client software, the web page just goes back to the login prompt without displaying any error message.  The client software is never downloaded or started.
    We've been able to work around this by installing the client software manually (where necessary) and starting the VPN client from the start menu.  However, this isn't our preferred solution because this method won't have them automatically picking up updated versions of the VPN client.
    We have seen this behavior before when there was a pending Java update that had not been applied.  However, that doesn't seem to be the case this time.  Clients have recently updated to IE9, but I have personnally been running the Anyconnect client and launching through IE9 for months.
    Any ideas about what's wrong or how to debug this?
    Thanks
    Patrick

    Hi Patrick,
    Ideally, when you have Anyconnect Essentials enabled on the ASA, you cannot get access to the Clientless VPN (Web Portal access to the internal resources) however the Web Launch of the Anyconnect client does work with it.
    I see that you have implemented this a different way (workaround) by manually installing the Anyconnect VPN clients on the machines and then trying to connect it to the ASA, which works and this means that configuration on the ASA for allowing the Anyconnect connection is correct. Now it is not allowing you to launch it from the web portal on machines which means the download access has been restricted somewhere on the ASA.
    Could you please follow these two steps and let me know if you see something different.
    1. Get access to the ASDM and follow this: Configuration>>Remote Access>>Anyconnect>>Edit the tunnel-group on which you connection is landing>>Login setting. Please check if it says go to the clientless portal or launch Anyconnect. It has to be Download Anyconnect automatically.
    2. If you are not getting the prompt for the username and password on the webportal then go to Configuration>>Remote Access>>Clientless (not sure if it is under Anyconnect or clientless, please check both) where you get option: shut down portal login on the main page. Please make sure that it is unchecked.
    In your case I see that the users are getting prompt for the username and password however when you authenticate yourself you are getting error message: authorized use only then it could be something to do with the DAP Policies (dynamic access policy).
    Go to the dynamic access policies and you will get an option named as Anyconnect (please check if the correct option is checked under the same). If multiple dap policies are configured then please check the dap policy which gets pushed when the user logs in and make changes to that specific dap policy.
    Please let me know if this help else I would request you to open a TAC request and we will look into this issue. If you find something different then please share here.
    Thanks,
    Vishnu Sharma

  • Time Machine wants 16 days to do an initial backup.  ps shows PRI = 33 with NI = 0.   But I can not get sudo renice to set PRI less than 15.  And renice sets NI directly with strange behavior for PRI. Any suggestions?

    Time Machine said it would take 16 days to do an initial backup, and indeed, after many days it is less than a quarter done.   (The problem started when I put in a new bank disk for Time Machine to write to for its backup file.)
    Activity Monitor shows that the process name is   backups   with Process ID   6060.
    Then putting this PID in Terminal UNIX command ps gave:
    EdsMacPro-1:~ ed$ ps -l -p 6060
      UID   PID  PPID        F CPU PRI NI       SZ    RSS ...
        0  6060     1  1004004   0  33  0  2556488  29040 ...
    Wow!  A priority of 33!
    Don't know how that happened, but the way to fix that (I thought) is with renice.
    But renice doesn't work.
    After a lot of playing with renice and ps, it looks as though renice can not make the priority better than (no less than) 15.
    And the parameter you put in, that according to the man page that is supposed to be priority, turns out to be "nice index", with priority changed by sometimes subtracting or sometimes adding either this number or twice this number - down to a limit of priority no less than 15.
    EdsMacPro-1:~ ed$ ps -l -p 6060

    This is with OSX 10.7.5 and Terminal 2.2.3 on an early 2009 Mac Pro with lots of memory.
    What am I dong wrong, and any suggestions for how to fix my Time Machine process?

    The backup file size is 1.67 TB.*
    That's across the internal bus of a 2009 quad-core Mac Pro - which is pretty fast.
    Copying an hour's worth of MPEG-2 HD takes about a minute.
    I do a fresh backup from scratch about once a year, and the last time it finished over night.
    This time the first Time Machine backup is only about 1/5 complete after many days, and Activity Monitor shows essentially no use of disk drives or of CPU.  And in the first note I pointed out what is gleaned by using Terminal to execute the UNIX ps command. The priority of the running Time Machine process looks incorrect to me.
    I could be wrong, but I think the problem is process priority, not file size.
    I am unable to set priority to 0 or a negative number.  Can someone straighten me out on how to do that?
    [*The machine has four 1.5 TB disk drives in it plus lots of memory.  Two of the physical drives are configured as one 3 TB backup drive (RAID concatanated).]

  • Strange behavior for iCal alarms

    To run an AppleScript from an iCal alarm you do the following:
    In Automator, create a Calendar Alarm
    Select Utilities from the library pane
    Select & drag Run AppleScript into the workflow area
    Copy/paste an AppleScript into the Run AppleScript box
    Save the newly created Calendar Alarm with name (e.g. ArchNew)
    This will open the Automator Calendar in iCal
    Edit the Date/Time/Repeat/...... as you want as shown in the example below
    The resulting AppleScript will be stored here
    /Users/<user_acct>/Library/Workflows/Applications/Calendar/ArchNew.app
    Now the problem
    If at a later time you want to modify the AppleScript ArchNew.app using the AppleScript Editor, it will break the binding between the iCal alarm and the AppleScript ArchNew.app
    The only way I've been able to do this is delete the file
    /Users/<user_acct>/Library/Workflows/Applications/Calendar/ArchNew.app
    and then go back to #1 above and repeat the whole process with the modified AppleScript.
    Does anyone know why the simple approach of directly editing and saving the changes to the AppleScript ArchNew.app doesn't work?

    You still haven't provided your 4 digit Oracle version or the TABLE and INDEX DDL.
    Your 'problem' could be nothing more than DEFERRED SEGMENT creation where Oracle doesn't allocate space until the first data is added for that segment.
    See 'Understanding Deferred Segment Creation' in the DBA Guide
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e25494/tables002.htm#CHDGJAGB
    >
    Understand Deferred Segment Creation
    Beginning with Oracle Database 11g Release 2, when you create heap-organized tables in a locally managed tablespace, the database defers table segment creation until the first row is inserted.
    In addition, segment creation is deferred for any LOB columns of the table, any indexes created implicitly as part of table creation, and any indexes subsequently explicitly created on the table.
    Note:
    In Release 11.2.0.1, deferred segment creation is not supported for partitioned tables. This restriction is removed in release 11.2.0.2 and later.
    >
    That is why it is MANDATORY that posters provide their 4 digit Oracle versions. There are too many features that depend on the version being used.

  • Strange behavior of BAPI_SALESORDER_SIMULATE

    Hi All,
    I am using standard BAPI - BAPI_SALESORDER_SIMULATE , to simulate the sales order creation.
    But this BAPI gives strange behavior for different customers but same material combination.
    I get incorrect schedule line for one customer.
    The material is a non-stock material and purchase requisition is generated for each material to vendor.
    The sales area is same for both the customers, while executing the BAPI.
    However, for same material but for different customer, schedule line appears incorrect and different for these two customers.
    Can you help me on this ?
    Thanks,

  • I get a strange behavior of the tab bar and of the location bar in Firefox 29.0 for Mac.

    I have just installed Firefox 29.0 for Mac.
    I get a strange behavior of the tab bar and of the location bar with this new version.
    Instead of the location bar, I get two rows of symbols. And it's impossible to write anything in the location bar.
    (I'd like to add a screenshot, but I cannot find a way to do it.)

    Thank you for your tip.
    I found the culprit: it was an extension called RSS Icon 1.0.6.
    I removed it and now Firefox 29.0 is working perfectly.
    Now I'll have to find a replacement for that extension.
    Thank you once again. Your tip was essential.

  • Safari 5.1 strange auto-reloading behavior for tabs in the background

    hi guys.
    I have been encountering this strange behavior recently. I had thought it could be something wrong with my system, until yesterday i upgraded my Safari for Windows to the v.5.1 on a Windows XP laptop, and found the same issue. Now i guess I can be quite certain this is a safari issue.
    System info:
    1. Macbook Pro 17", OSX 10.6.8, 64bit boot (i have 8GB RAM).
    2. Safari (Mac) is the lastest version (as updated by the Auto update), run in the default 64bit mode.
    3. The windows machine is an old Thinkpad T60 with Windows XP Pro SP3. The Safari for windows is Safari 5.1 (7534.50), also updated by auto update.
    4. I have not installed any Safari extensions/plugs that feature an auto-reloading -- as such behavior was never seen before i upgrade to Safari 5.1
    Since i mostly work on mac the mac has been kept most updated. But the windows machine which i use now and then, i don't update everything very frequently. And the earlier Safari 5.0 worked fine without the current issue.
    Symptoms
    1. Let's say I have 1 Safari window open with 5 tabs, and I have been working on the 4th tab for a while, and left the other 4 tabs "idling" in the background.
    2. And then i want to switch to another tab: click on that tab, and that tab will come to the foreground while being automatically refreshed.
    3. It looks to me this behavior happens after the inactive tabs have been idling longer than a certain period of time - then if you switch to them, they will be switched to and in the same time auto-reloaded. But I still don't know how long it needs for the "idling" before an auto-reloading "threshold" is triggered.
    4. In the beginning this was just on the Mac Safari (and i hadn't updated safari on the windows). But after I updated safari for WIN yesterday, i found the same behavior today.
    5. I checked all the Preferences settings and didnt find any option that indicates this behaviors.
    Guys. any ideas? anyone have the same trouble? Thanks a lot guys. This is really annoying.

    I'm running Safari 5.1 / SL v10.6.8 on one Mac with Glims installed and I never have a problem with tabs auto reloading. You might want to give it a try.
    It's free!
    http://www.machangout.com/
    Once the software is installed you can access the settings from Safari / Preferences - Glims.
    If you don't like the software you can use their uninstaller here.
    Hi Carolyn thanks a lot for the idea.
    The weird thing is... after i tried to uninstall and re-install a few apps the "auto-loading" behavior disappeared ... guess something was interfereing with safari 5.1...
    But thanks for recommending Glims. I took a quick look at the website and it looks great. will do some more research before i start using it. Thanks for the recomm!

  • Strange behavior of select for update

    I observed a strange behavior of "select .. for update" statement in binary xml table. Here is the piece of code:
    create table xmltab of XMLType XMLTYPE store as binary xml;
    Table created.
    insert into xmltab values('<x><y>y1</y><z>z1</z></x>');
    1 row created.

    extractValue(x.object_value,'/x/z')='z1' ;
    OBJECT_VALUE
    <x>
      <y>y1</y>
      <z>z1</z>
    </x>
    The following query doesn't return any row!!
    select x.object_value

  • Multiple calls to NodeList.item(n) strange behavior

    After adding some sys outs the implementation is gnu.xml.doc
    NodeList list = doc.getElementsByTagName("foo");
    // Odd behavior
    for(int a = 0; a < list.getLength(); a++)
      System.out.println(list.item(a) == null);  // false
      System.out.println(list.item(a) == null);  // false
      System.out.println(list.item(a) == null);  // true
      System.out.println(list.item(a) == null);  // true
    }I was iterating over the nodes in my code when the issue above happened. The actual code was something like:
    if(list.item(a) != null  && list.item(a).getNodeType() != Node.COMMENT_NODE && list.item(a).getNodeName().equals("foo"))
    return list.item(a);I was getting a null pointer exception. With much headache and tracking I found the issue stated. Do I not understand the functionality of list.item(a) or is this a bug?
    For those interested I did the following:
    NodeList list = doc.getElementsByTagName("foo");
    Node n = null;
    for(int a = 0; a < list.getLength(); a++)
      n = list.item(a);
      if(n != null  &&
        n.getNodeType() != Node.COMMENT_NODE &&
        n.getNodeName().equals("foo"))
      return n;
    }

    I have reproduced a related problem, which may or may not be the same...
    Given a DOM Document on which I have evaluated an XPathExpression to receive a NodeList, I observed the following:
    NodeList nl = xpathexp.evaluate(documentRoot, XPathConstants.NODESET);
    // this expression locates 5 nodes
    Node n0 = nl.item(0);
    Node n1 = nl.item(1);
    Node n2 = nl.item(2);
    Node n3 = nl.item(3);
    Node n2a = nl.item(2);
    Node n4 = nl.item(4);
    Node n4a = nl.item(4);
    Node n5 = nl.item(4);
    Node n0a = nl.item(0);
    Node n0b = nl.item(0);All of n0..n4 have Node objects.
    Even n2a and n4a have Node objects, so random access appears to work properly.
    n5 is null, as it should be.
    Once null is returned, the next call given a valid index will still return null!
    So n0a is null, but n0b is NOT null.
    assert null != n0;
    assert null != n1;
    assert null != n2;
    assert null != n3;
    assert null != n4;
    assert null != n4a;
    assert null != n2a;
    // is this part of the contract? it does happen to return identical node objects...
    assert n2a == n2;
    assert n4a == n4;
    // it returns null for index 5, as it should
    assert null == n5;
    // it eventually returned a non-null value for
    // index 0 following the null return for index 5...
    assert null != n0b;
    // but this is the error: the first request (in this case index 0) following the null return
    // wrongly returns null... oddly, it only does so for the first request!
    assert null != n0a;

  • Strange response time for an RFC call viewed from STAD on R/3 4.7

    Hello,
    On our R/3 4.7 production system, we have a lot of external RFC calls to execute an  abap module function. There are 70 000 of these calls per day.
    The mean response time for this RFC call is 35 ms.
    Some times a few of them (maybe 10 to 20 per day) are way much longer.
    I am currently analysing with STAD one of these long calls  which lasted 10 seconds !
    Here is the info from STAD
    Response time :                10 683 ms
    Total time in workprocess : 10 683 ms
    CPU time  :                               0 ms
    RFC+CPIC time :                       0 ms
    Wait for work process           0 ms
    Processing time           10.679 ms
    Load time                            1 ms
    Generating time                   0 ms
    Roll (in) time                        0 ms
    Database request time         3 ms
    Enqueue time                      0 ms
    Number      Roll ins            0
                     Roll outs           0
                     Enqueues         0
    Load time   Program             1  ms
                      Screen              0  ms
                     CUA interf.          0  ms
    Roll time    Out                 0  ms
                      In                  0  ms
                    Wait                0  ms
    Frontend    No.roundtrips       0
                      GUI time            0  ms
                      Net time            0  ms
    There is nearly no abap processing in the function module.
    I really don't uderstand what is this  10 679 ms processing time especially with 0 ms cpu time and 0 ms wait time.
    A usual fast RFC call gives this data
    23 ms response time
    16 ms cpu time
    14 ms processing time
    1 ms load time
    8 ms Database request time
    Does anybody have an idea of what is the system doing during the 10 seconds  processing time ?
    Regards,
    Olivier

    Hi Graham,
    Thank you for your input and thoughts.
    I will have to investigate on RZ23N and RZ21 because I'm not used to use them.
    I'm used to investigate performance problems with ST03 and STAD.
    My system is R/3 4.7 WAS 6.20. ABAP and BASIS 43
    Kernel 6.40 patch level 109
    We know these are old patch levels but we are not allowed to stop this system for upgrade "if it's not broken" as it is used 7/7 24/24.
    I'm nearlly sure that the problem is not an RFC issue because I've found other slow dialog steps for web service calls and even for a SAPSYS technical dialog step  of type <no buffer>. (what is this ?)
    This SAPSYS dialog step has the following data :
    User : SAPSYS
    Task type : B
    Program : <no buffer>
    CPU time                       0 ms
    RFC+CPIC time              0 ms
    Total time in workprocs    5.490 ms
    Response time               5.490 ms
    Wait for work process           0 ms
    Processing time             5.489 ms
    Load time                            0 ms
    Generating time                   0 ms
    Roll (in+wait) time                0 ms
    Database request time          1 ms ( 3 Database requests)
    Enqueue time                       0 ms
    All hundreds of other SAPSYS <no buffer> steps have a less than 5 ms response time.
    It looks like the system was frozen during 5 seconds...

  • Strange behavior after suspend.

    Hi,
    For some time I have a strange behavior of my system after I awake my computer(after suspend). This problem don't disappear after update.
    Ok, so if I suspend my computer, and awake him I can't run any program. Even if i was open some application, this application crashes. I have to restart my machine.
    Somebody had similar problem or know how help?
    I'm using Arch Linux x64, kernel 3.8, openbox. Suspend by "systemctl suspend".

    OK, maybe good idea is paste here my output journal:
    # journalctl --since=today | tac | sed -n '/-- Reboot --/{n;:r;/-- Reboot --/q;p;n;b r}' | tac

  • Report FP_TEST_00 - Strange behavior

    Hello Gurus,
    A strange behavior with report FP_TEST_00 occurs:
    SA38 --> FP_TEST_00 --> select a device --> execute --> print preview then and error or popup is show:
    Adobe Reader
    Error initializing the font server module
    Then the SAP GUI is closed, I check the ST22 and no dump is generated and in transaction SM21 only appear:
    DP  Q0  4 Connection to user 551 (ADMIN ), terminal 86 (HUSVP-SAP-BA) lost
    DP  Q0  I Operating system call recv failed (error no. 232 )
