Strange behavior in apps/monitor refreshing after theme installation

Good times of the day everyone!
I'm very new to archlinux and ArchLinux community (as you can see, this is my 1st post here).
I use dwm and was playing around with themes.
I found a GTK Theme - Moka which really suited my taste and installed it.
But for some reason, after the installation, applications started showing stuff strangely (or maybe monitor refreshing is going strange, i don't really have an idea of what's happening).
-Change in behavior of applications
---Midori:
------ Every time i switch between tags, strange big black box appears on the page. To get rid of it I have to scroll down-n-back the page;switch back-n-forth between workspaces; select all and deselect all in the page; click to adress bar.
------ When Opening links/sites|Refreshing the pages - big black box shows up and goes away/sometimes doesn't go away.
---Pidgin:
------ Every time I receive a new message, the text turns into a box of strange mix of colors
Here are the pictures:
Would appreciate it if anybody would help me to solve this problem.

Update:
I've noticed one more strange thing, in Midori if I have only one tab opened, no black box appears.
EDIT:
Never mind.. I guess it was the error in theme itself.

  • Strange behavior of the monitor after latest update (solved)

The new kernel seems to be working well except for one thing and I am not sure where the blame lies.  About once every 4 or 5 hours, the monitor screen goes blank.  If I hit any key it comes right back with nothing lost.  Minor thing but kind of irritating.  It did not do this with kernel 2.6.29 but it has started doing this since I updated to 2.6.30.  As I said, not a biggie but it is irritating as it should not be happening.  I don't know if there is a mismatch with my GPU (NVIDIA 9600GT) or if the difference lies within the kernel itself.
FInally it worked out right.  Thanks all for the suggestions.  Just had to give them time to work through.

Change made.  For some reason there was no ServerFlags section in the generated xorg.conf.  I added it and then added these options to it.  We shall see if this stops the blanking of the screen.  I hope so.
    Thanks for the idea.

  • CFolders Thumbnails strange behavior on calling an refreshing a site

I'm trying to use Thumbnails in cFolder Objects or Folders, but they behave strange when using IE6
When loading a site with Thumbnails, it seems that it lasts very long to load the Thumbs. For example, a site with 3Thumbnails shows them after 2Minutes. If i klick "Stop" or choose a link, the pics appear after earlier. What can i do to solve that?
This behavior can not be reproduced in FireFox!

During the LOGOUT of cFolders too you might face a similar problem.
NOTE: 986073 suggest a way to handle this.

  • Strange behaviors on MacBook Pro before & after installing Snow Leopard

I am not sure if this is even a Snow Leopard issue. We have a MacBook Pro that up until recently had been running Tiger. A problem developed whereby we could not access the iTunes store. A message that the store was "not available at this time" came up repeatedly while at the same time another computer was able to make connections with it. In addition, when Firefox was opened, a prompt appeared to drag the Firefox icon to the applications folder. Even after this was done, the same prompt would appear during subsequent sessions.
We updated the OS to Snow Leopard, and the iTunes store problem was resolved. However, there are some other unusual things going on with other applications.
    1. When Photobooth is opened, we get this message: "There is no connected camera."
    2. When we open any of the Office applications, we are greeted with: "To open Microsoft Word (or Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), you need to install Rosetta."
    3. The above-described issue with Firefox still occurs frequently. Even though Firefox is located in the Applications folder, there is now a volume named Firefox on the desktop. We can't get rid of it.
We don't know for sure if the Photobooth and Office issues were present right before the Snow Leopard installation, but they had worked properly in the past.
One thing we did do is a verify and repair of permissions. There were MANY that needed to be repaired.
In addition, right around the time SL was installed, the computer was frequently shutting off without warning. The mouse was also operating erratically. It was found that the battery needed to be replaced, as the existing one was expanding and was actually disrupting the operation of the mouse pad. Could this battery have been the source of these problems?
What are the next steps we should take?

I suppose your expanding battery problem could have caused some or all of these problems, but most of them sound like software issues.
If I were you I'd try a few things:
    1. boot from your snow leopard install disk and repair your startup disk with disk utility.
    2. repeat the repairs until no repairs are reported (the toilet paper principle).
    3. repair permissions again.
    4. if the problems persist, trash the preferences files for the misbehaving apps.
    5. if the problems persist, delete the misbehaving apps and reinstall them.
    6. it the shutoffs persist, try a PMU reset.
    7. a PRAM reset would probably be a good idea too.
    8. if none of that works, archive and reinstall.
there is a freeware utility called applejack that will also do most of this.
Details on all of these will be readily available with a google search.

  • Strange behaviors on MacBook Pro before & after installing SL & new battery

I have also posted this question in the Snow Leopard forum as I am not sure where it belongs. We have a MacBook Pro that up until recently had been running Tiger. A message that the store was "not available at this time" came up repeatedly while at the same time another computer was able to make connections with it. In addition, when Firefox was opened, a prompt appeared to drag the Firefox icon to the applications folder. Even after this was done, the same prompt would appear during subsequent sessions.

I can deal with parts of this.
    2. When we open any of the Office applications, we are greeted with: "To open Microsoft Word (or Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), you need to install Rosetta."
Snow Leo is very aware of apps that are not coded for Intel processors. This message suggests you have Office 2004 or older. Intel coding did not come to Office Mac until version 2008. Rosetta is an Apple emulation technology that lets apps coded for older PowerPC processors work on Macs with Intel processors. Most emulators do not give the performance of a program running natively.
You can either upgrade Office to the previous version 2008, buy a current Office 2011, or deal with the vagaries of emulation. Many people reported that Office 2004 had problems, particularly with keyboard input, when used on an Intel Mac.
NOTE: If you rely on Entourage for a mail client, Office 2011 has dropped Entourage. The business version comes with a new version of Outlook for Mac that replaces Entourage but the Home/student edition does not. If you go for Office 2011 and want to stay with mail features similar to Entourage, you'll have to get the higher-priced version.
One thing we did do is a verify and repair of permissions. There were MANY that needed to be repaired.
I would do it again because some of the things you describe sound like permissions issues. Sometimes, updates can install something that changes permissions. You should be using the version of Disk Utility on your hard drive, not the install disk, to insure the settings in your user folder are properly repaired.

  • Strange problems: Need to repair permissions after new installation

Hello, we installed a PowerMac G5, which is running as a web server (4D). After we installed the OS X (10.4.9/PPC) and a few days running the machine did have problems starting up as usual. The machine did hang when trying to start up.
We could startup from an external CD. Apple's disk utility reported thousands of files needed to be repaired. We repaired all of the permissions and had the startup problem again. We switched to another computer, a Mac mini (G4). The same problem (again repaired tons of permissions).
We also used Apple's Hardware Check Disk. Nothing found! Alsoft's Disk Warrior only show us a few files which had the wrong encoding.
The web server and its data are running/stored on a different volume (second partition).
We totally do have three computers with the same problems. We are running 4th Dimension, Retrospect 6.x, Share Points, Pure FTP and Mac OS X 10.4.9. We are running several web servers with the same configuration except another Mac OS X version (e.g. 10.3.9)
Does anybody know this problem and how to solve?

  • Restore Finder in OSX 10.8.5 after theme installation

    Dear all,
My brother installed the Nocturne theme for osx, but what he did not realized is that it was for osx 10.9, I have on my iMAc osx 10.8.5. which got me really ******.
    http://aaronolive.deviantart.com/art/Nocturne-Theme-For-OS-X-10-9-x-326453358
Now the finder is all screwed up, as to remove the Nocturne theme only thing was to restore it to native maverick finder, and there is a "A" letter where the full screen arrows should be, as well as the multiple desktop background is really weird (not silver as it should be). How can I delete all the files from the theme, as there is no uninstall in the dmg file and/or restore the original 10.8.5. look without these glitches?
Just to mention, I am also downloading the MAverick update, however I am afraid that the update willdelete my files, as I don7t have them backed up (no space on my hard drive, nor external drives), so I would wish to avoid the update and just restore the original finder for my system.
    Thanks a lot!

Have you tried command - N to open a new Finder window while in Finder?

  • Strange behavior after suspend.

    Hi,
For some time I have a strange behavior of my system after I awake my computer(after suspend). This problem don't disappear after update.
Ok, so if I suspend my computer, and awake him I can't run any program. Even if i was open some application, this application crashes. I have to restart my machine.
Somebody had similar problem or know how help?
I'm using Arch Linux x64, kernel 3.8, openbox. Suspend by "systemctl suspend".

  • Strange behavior after using NIK plug-ins

Every once in a while I encounter this strange behavior of Aperture. I first process the NEF's in Aperture (white balance, Exposure, Enhance... and, when needed, Cropping) and then I fine tune the image with the NIK plug-ins; when needed DfIne 2.0, Viveza, Color Efex Pro 3.0 and Sharpener Pro 3.0 Output Sharpener.
    If I look at the processed picture then, I get a perfect presentation of the photo;
    But when I press Z to zoom into a 100% preview I get this;
    When I select the Loup in the normal view mode I get this;
This doesn't happen with all my pictures, yesterday I processed a series of 8 pictures an 6 of them showed this behavior the other two acted normal and I can't see what I did differently whit these last two.
When I export the strangely behaving photo's to a Tiff or a Jpeg, I get perfectly normal pictures.
The original NEF behaves normal. I have seen this behavior with NEF's from a Nikon D200, D2x and a D300. I have Aperture 2.1.2 running on a 2.33 GHz Intel Core Duo MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.5.6
Does anybody know what's happening and if so, how to solve this problem?
    Cheers,
    Ivan

I did some testing and what I found is too weird to be true.
First this mashed up look doesn't only happen after using NIK plug-ins, it also happens when making a roundtrip to Photoshop, given that certain conditions are met.
Give it a try yourself. Crop an image to an uneven pixelcount dimension, for example 4227 x 2797 and make a roundtrip to Photoshop. Then have a 100% view look at the new image in Aperture. You'll have a mashed up view, at least I do.
Now crop the same original image to an even pixelcount dimension, for example 4228 x 2798 and make an roundtrip to Photoshop once more. When you have a 100% view of the new image now, you'll see a perfectly normal photo.
Do you think Aperture developers are reading this forum?

  • Strange behavior in Photos App

    Hey Ericmusic,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are having trouble with an app. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.
iOS: Force an app to close
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a nice day,

  • Strange mouse, windows, app behavior

Lately, I have noticed several strange behaviors when using my computer.
    1. There is often a delay, of different durations, between my making a move with the mouse on the mouse pad and the movement appearing on the screen. This does not happen every time but I have noticed it happens when I go between one app and another and also, after I have saved something.
    2. Windows "shudder" or move slightly (often in combination with item 1 above), as if there has been a delay in processing something and I was expecting to be able to go to the next action.
    3. The mouse pointer disappears from the screen. I have been able to get it back by constantly moving the mouse around and pressing the escape key continuously.
    4. Scroll bars disappear and reappear, often with the shuddering as in item 2 above.
    5. Sometimes, saving takes a relatively long time, when it shouldn't as I have simple documents. This is sometimes accompanied by what sounds like "hard disk working noise". Also, the filename & file saving location dialog box that appears when you choose "save as" takes a while to appear, or appears but shakes/shudders before if fully appears.
    6. The mouse stopped working when I had it connected via the extended keyboard. It now connects directly to the computer and works but with some problems as above and the following. Click+holding+dragging is a problem and can only be done in one direction when trying to grab a screen shot suing the Grab app). This is bottom right to top left. Anything else I try and the Grab app stops prematurely partway during the path I have chosen. This is quite frustrating.
I don't know if this is Mavericks not working properly or some incompatibility with one or more apps.
My mouse pad is quite worn so that could be one possible reason. I have a apple pro mouse.
Anyone know what's going on or how to fix these problems?

  • My iPhone 5 won't let me use my apps until I connect them with iTunes after downloading ios7. Solutions?

My iPhone 5 won't let me use my apps until I connect them with iTunes after downloading ios7.  There's just a thing that pops up and says that in order to activate banners and push notifications I have to connect the app with iTunes. The thing won't go away no matter how many times I push ok, and it doesn't give me another option. Solutions?

Oh my gosh I had the EXACT same problem, and for ages I couldn't figure out how to fix it until today. Here's what I did:
First I went onto my computer, opened itunes, and un-installed tumblr, vine and kik. These were the apps I was having problems with (it said I had them on my phone but, like you, they didn't show).
Then I went to the itunes store, searched for each one, and it said I could update them so I did (just FYI: for tumblr a window popped up saying "please click ok to confirm you are 17 years or older", so I did that also)
When I went back to my phone and tried installing them again (still on my computer), it worked!
I hope this helps, because it was incredibly frustrating. Good luck!

I have recently purchased some apps from the app store and after downloading them, the icon that appears in the dock changes to a different icon. It is now the same icon appearing on all newly downloaded apps.  Does anyone know what is happening here? Even updating an older game app resulted in the original game icon changing to the new identical icon that all new apps are appearing with.  This new icon is like a page with a ruler, pencil and paintbrush. Any tips on how to stop this or how to revert to the icon as it appears on the app store would be appreciated.

When syncing, check the Movies/TV Shows Tab in the iPhone menu, and make sure ALL movies are synced (or select the ones you want to sync)
