Strange behavior while plugged in
Hi,
my X1 compact shows a strange behavior since yesterday:
I plugged it in via the USB port for charging, and it started doing crazy things. Screen brightness went flashing from low to high and back, the touchscreen showed slow or no response to pushing buttons, everything got laggy as if some kind of process was running in the background with no end. When I unplug it, it basically works normally. But - from this time on, I couldn't charge it anymore, as the charge went down instead of up when plugged in! I tried a factory reset several times (power + volume up for 3 seconds), and although it did reset, the charging problem remained. I left it turned off for one night while plugged in, and in the morning, it was just charged to 25% with the charge going down rapidly in the first couple of minutes (after 5 minutes to 11%). Now it's at 1%, but I can use it for quite a while, indicating that the displayed charge certainly isn't correct.
When I plug it in, the same things happen again and again. When plugged in, I can't even enter the PIN correctly, because touchscreen input is somehow recognized falsely.
What could that be, what could I do??
Aleks
I'd like to, but... now it's gone from 1% to dead, and I can't bring it back to life, whether plugged in or not!
When it's plugged in, the red charging light doesn't even come up. When I hard reset it, it just vibrates as it should, but no charging light whatsoever. When I unplug it and try to start it, the red light just flashes three times.
Now I'll just try to leave it plugged in for some time, in hope that there will be enough charge to try to boot into safe mode.
But to me, it seems like some kind of hardware bug? I mean, it seems like the same problen bothers the phone even when it's shut down, so I wouldn't gess it's a problem with the apps or the system! But I just don't get why it worked all the time and then just suddenly this thing happens! I've had it now for 6 weeks, and I already had a similar problem on the second day already, but it went away with a hard reset while charging... after that, perfect charging and good battery life for 6 weeks!
Regards,
Aleks

Strange behavior while installing extensions
I recently installed Adobe CS4 Design Premium on my laptop with Snow Leopard. When I was installing the Nokia WRT extension via the extension manager, Firefox suddenly started itself unintentionally and pointed to a non-existing web page:
http://www.diamond.com/calendarobject/description.htm
This was a strange behavior I never encountered before.
May I ask whether this is a problem of the software (Adobe or Firefox) or the OS (virus or something)?
Thanks very much.I would suggest contacting the developer of the extension first to make sure it is not an intended feature to open a browser window upon a successful installation. If it is a virus/spyware, which is possible but rare on a Mac, I would first do the following:
-Make sure Firefox and all installed extensions are up-to-date
-Run ClamXAV ( http://www.clamxav.com/ )
-Lastly, boot up from your OSX disc and repair permissions to make sure everything is in order. -
Time Machine - strange behavior while deleting old backups
Not sure if this is the right place, because this is actually not on Time Capsule, but on a Time Machine on an external USB drive.
In any case, I searched the web for "time machine delete old backups" and found many discussions of various aspects of this task. My objective is to clean up a partition on a the external drive that I no longer use for active TM backups, but to retain a small set of backups in case I need to go back to them. The partition now has other uses and I need the space. My main TM backup is now on a separate Time Capsule.
So again my objective is not to remove all backups, but just most of them.
It appears that the well-discussed procedure is the following:
Go into Time Machine.
Select the Macintosh HD.
Go back to one of the oldest backups.
Click on the Gear > click Delete Backup.
This procedure will remove one Backup at a time, and it seems to take 5 - 10 minutes for each backup.
Here is what I noticed that was "strange":
You could delete a selected backup using the above procedure.
For the first selected backup so deleted, there is a confirmation dialog with a warning message that it is not undoable.
After clicking OK on the warning message, the display backs up to the "Present" backup, and the administrative password is requested.
After the administrative password is entered, the backup starts but control is passed back to the user interface, and another backup can be selected to be deleted.
However, after the second backup is selected and deleted, there is no warning dialog, and no request for the administrative password. At this point the user interface is busy and nothing more can be done until the backup delete is completed. Except that the Time Machine can be exited by first pressing Escape, then Cancel on the lower left of the screen.
If the time machine is exited, there is a Delete Backups progress dialog with a progress bar for each backup so far requested. If the second backup was requested, as in the steps above, there would be two backups.
I discovered by playing around that either you had to wait within Time Machine for the deletion to complete, or alternatively exit Time Machine. While I was not sure what was going on, I kept starting one backup, then exiting Time Machine and re-entering Time Machine and requesting another delete operation. Each time after entering Time Machine, the warning/admin password sequence occurred and I was able to exit. And then immediately re-enter Time Machine and request another backup. Only by exiting and re-entering could another delete request be made.
When out of Time Machine, I thus saw the Delete Backups dialog with any number of concurrent "Delete One Backup" progress bars.
Because of the nature of the hard links used to indicate backups, I was wondering if these multiple delete operations could possibly be hung in a deadly embrace, so I decided to only do one at a time. Some further study to see if the multiple delete operations were all able to complete would be needed to know if this would be a good way to "queue up" multiple delete requests.
Bottom line: seems like kind of an odd implementation. Would be really nice if you could select many (say 30) individual backups and delete them all at once, rather than taking 5 - 10 minutes each. Again, this is because I am trying to reclaim disk space, but not delete all the backups from a Time Machine backup set that is not in active use.
Also, the method of "queuing up" backup delete requests is kind of odd, but seems to work, with the proviso that I have not yet confirmed that doing more than one at a time actually works.Heinz-G?uenter Arnold wrote:
since the upgrade to SL it seem that Time Machine has problems to completely remove old backups completely. The "removed" backups do not show up in Time Machine anymore, but the backup folders and part of their contents can still be seen in Finder.
Hi, and welcome to the forums.
That happens occasionally, in both Leopard and Snow Leopard, sometimes after something was deleted from the Finder, but also after an abnormal shutdown or improper disconnection of the TM disk.
Run a +*Repair Disk+* on it via Disk Utility, in your Applications/Utilities folder. If it finds errors, but can't fix them all, run it again (and again) until it either fixes them all, or can't fix any more. -
Strange behavior of stop control with events
I have found some strange behavior while using stop controls. I have a main vi which has two while loops. One of them is used to continuosly acquire the images. The other while loop has event structure that has several booleans which trigger different events. Both the while loops are operated using the same stop. My problem is this. None of the events get triggered when I press the buttons for them. However if I keep the stop value true( which stops the acquisition) and then click the event buttons all of them work fine. so every time I want an event to run I first change this stop value to true and then press the button for the event to fire. I want to know what is causing this? Why is th stop button influencing the behavior
of other events?If your while loops are completely independent then it whould work. I've attached a simple example in LabVIEW 6.1 that shows a while loop with an event structure and another running continuously. A single stop button stops both but until then, the event structure will respond to clicking on two other Booleans in the VI.

Strange behavior in URxvt - charactes remain on screen (Incl. Scrot)
I'm using Arch with Openbox.
Compton as composite manager, ẅith the open source Xf86-video-ati driver,
URxvt as terminal emulator (with the perl extension collection, more specifically tabbedex,default,keyboard-select,url-select,clipboard,matcher)
and zsh with Oh-My-Zsh as shell.
Recently switched to Arch from Ubuntu, and I'm loving it. But as the topic says, I'm getting some strange behaviors while using URxvt. If I type a command into the terminal, using tab-completetion as i usually do, and then delete some character or press tab again, in about 50% of the cases some characters from the previous command remain on the command line. Also, if I type in for example 'sudo tail -f /var/log', and delete the entire line, the 'S' letter will persistantly remain after my prompt, making the next command 'ssudo'. Other times, the '/' might remain stuck from the '/var/log' part, as shown in the screenshot.
Tried my best to reproduce the problem for a screenshot, so see the image below, the two upmost terminals for an example of what it usually looks like.
Could anybody help me out finding out the cause of this problem? Is it related to zsh, urxvt or the graphics driver?jasonwryan wrote:Does it happen without Oh-my-zsh? It is likely your prompt (with incorrect or missing escapes) or you are exporting your term.
How would I check the prompt for missing escapes? Haven't tried not using Oh-My-Zsh, would rather fix it if that's the problem.
My current prompt/Oh-My-Zsh-theme:
PROMPT='[%{$fg_bold[white]%}%n%{$reset_color%}@%{$fg_bold[red]%}%m%{$reset_color%} %{$fg[cyan]%}%c%{$reset_color%} $(git_prompt_info)%{$reset_color%}]$ '

Strange behavior after using NIK plug-ins
Every once in a while I encounter this strange behavior of Aperture. I first process the NEF's in Aperture (white balance, Exposure, Enhance... and, when needed, Cropping) and then I fine tune the image with the NIK plug-ins; when needed DfIne 2.0, Viveza, Color Efex Pro 3.0 and Sharpener Pro 3.0 Output Sharpener.
If I look at the processed picture then, I get a perfect presentation of the photo;
!http://users.skynet.be/fc419085/Aperture-1.jpg!
But when I press Z to zoom into a 100% preview I get this;
!http://users.skynet.be/fc419085/Aperture-2.jpg!
When I select the Loup in the normal view mode I get this;
!http://users.skynet.be/fc419085/Aperture-3.jpg!
This doesn't happen with all my pictures, yesterday I processed a series of 8 pictures an 6 of them showed this behavior the other two acted normal and I can't see what I did differently whit these last two.
When I export the strangely behaving photo's to a Tiff or a Jpeg, I get perfectly normal pictures.
The original NEF behaves normal. I have seen this behavior with NEF's from a Nikon D200, D2x and a D300. I have Aperture 2.1.2 running on a 2.33 GHz Intel Core Duo MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.5.6
Does anybody know what's happening and if so, how to solve this problem?
Cheers,
IvanI did some testing and what I found is too weird to be true.
First this mashed up look doesn't only happen after using NIK plug-ins, it also happens when making a roundtrip to Photoshop, given that certain conditions are met.
Give it a try yourself. Crop an image to an uneven pixelcount dimension, for example 4227 x 2797 and make a roundtrip to Photoshop. Then have a 100% view look at the new image in Aperture. You'll have a mashed up view, at least I do.
Now crop the same original image to an even pixelcount dimension, for example 4228 x 2798 and make an roundtrip to Photoshop once more. When you have a 100% view of the new image now, you'll see a perfectly normal photo.
Do you think Aperture developers are reading this forum? -
Strange Behavior of program while using BAPI_PO_CREATE1
Hello SAP GURUs,
I've created an Upload Program using BAPI_PO_CREATE1 for Mass Service PO Creation.
When I execute the program and Specify the File for uploading, It Gives me errors as
E BAPI 1 No instance of object type PurchaseOrder has been created. External reference:
E MEPO 0 Purchase order still contains faulty items
E 6 436 In case of account assignment, please enter acc. assignment data for item
But when I come back to Selection Screen of the Program and specify the SAME FILE AGAIN and Execute,
The Program runs successfully and generates the PO number.
I have never seen such strange behavior in any BAPIs before.

After reading and resetting everything with Keyboard I still get blank white screen on 2nd? page of boot. The only way I can boot to Mavericks is unplug power cord, push and hold power button while plugging power cord in. Fans run at full speed, machine boots then runs normal except the dvdrw will not . The mid 2011 IMAC had the same problem with LION. I changed hard drives, formatted, and installed a clean install of latest os x mavericks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use the uninstaller provided with the Sophos software. You can uninstall CUDA via the preference pane. Be sure you remove the com.nvidia.CUDA extension which is located in the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder. Not sure if Fan Control has an uninstaller so you will have to do it manually:
Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications. Here is a selection:
1. AppZapper
2. AppDelete
3. Automaton
4. Hazel
5. AppCleaner
6. CleanApp
7. iTrash
8. Amnesia
9. Uninstaller
10. Spring Cleaning
For more information visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on removing software.
Be sure to remove your two Login Items. Finally do this:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless. -
Strange behavior when "trying" to burn a disk.
At least I think this is strange behavior, following the instructions in the help viewer, topic "Backing up your music to a CD or DVD." One thing for sure, it's not burning a disc and it ain't telling me why.
I select the playlist and click "Burn Disc"
Requests a blank disc. I insert one.
Message "checking media"
after about a minute, the disc ejects
Message "checking media" displays another 30 seconds
No other messages displayed.
What the ??? Shouldn't it at least display an error message??

Mac Mini Mac OS X (10.4.8)Whoops, sorry, this was while burning a playlist.
I've also tried some Pleomax CD disks (Samsung), with no luck. I've tried burning directly from iTunes, and from Toast 7.
Of the types I've tried, the Sony DVD's have been the best for me. Haven't tried many types though. Maybe I can get disks one at a time until I find a brand my burner likes.
Still, isn't it strange that there is NO error message? It just quits?

Strange behavior of the Macbook pro display
Hi to all
I'm using my MacBook pro, and notice some strange behavior after open several windows or applications, I don't know how to explain, so here is a photo:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/86155326@N00/
I have tried: go back to 10.4.6 / create a new account / Hardware test... and Nothing.
Any suggestions?
PedroI am having the exact same problem(and no one is replying to my post either), I read in another post of someone who had a somewhat similar issue and someone commented that it was bad VRAM and warranted the logic board to be replaced. I'm hoping this is not the case, or at least hoping the problem does not get worse because I am in school and can't be without this computer for 2 weeks while it gets repaired..I'm hoping I can last til the holidays...
pictures of my problem:

Sometimes I can make it go away by moving windows, and sometimes that makes it worse... this computer is only 100 days old...come on apple..help us out! -
Strange Behavior in modifying the values in VO
I have a VO based on EO from a custom table. The query is something like:
select EO.x, EO.y, (EO.x*EO.y) xy from EO
I have displayed the values from this VO on to a table in OAF page. All the columns are messageTextInput but the third column (xy) is read-only. I have written a fireAction to execute when x or y values are changed to update the xy value accordingly.
Code in CO:
if ("ValueChange".equals(pageContext.getParameter(EVENT_PARAM)))
OAApplicationModule am = pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
am.invokeMethod("UpdateXY");
pageContext.forwardImmediately(<Same Page>, null,
OAWebBeanConstants.KEEP_MENU_CONTEXT,
null, null, true,
OAWebBeanConstants.ADD_BREAD_CRUMB_NO);
Code in AM:
public void UpdateXY()
xxVOImpl vo = getxxVO1();
Row r = vo.first();
while (vo.hasNext())
r = vo.next();
Object X = r.getAttribute("X");
String X_string = X.toString();
float X_value = Float.parseFloat(X_string);
Object Y = r.getAttribute("Y");
String Y_string = Y.toString();
float Y_value = Float.parseFloat(Y_string);
Float XY = new Float(X_value*Y_value);
r.setAttribute("XY",(Object)XY);
The problem is as follows. During the first time I try to update a value, the control goes through the logic and returns to the page but the XY value is not updated. But if i change a second value and tab out, the codes works and displays both the updated values of XY. From then on, the code is working fine.
I'm also not updating the first row and so I didnt perform any logic in AM for the first row.
Please help me out in finding out the reason for this strange behavior.This nature is fine, basically initially your EO x and y columns are null and unless you do a commit, these values don't go in db. The third column will take x and Y coumns values from db and multiply and will get null.
To solve this issue, you get the values from VO columns x and y in PPR and and put x*y in the third column of Vo, IN THAT ROW.or you can directly get hold of the bean which hold the value of x*y and use setValue after getting x*y.

Hi everyone!
I think I have a strange problem with the NI 9401 modules.
My hardware is a CompactRIO and I'm using Labview 8.0.
I'm reading a 13 bit encoder with two NI 9401 modules: the first for 8 input channels and the second for the other remaining 5. input channels.
13 bits means that the slots in the outest part of the counter are 8192 so i expect my encoder to count up/down till 8192. What instead happens is that the counter goes up to 7934, then suddenly to 7860, then from 0 to 254 and then finally to 0 again and up again to 7934 and the story always goes on like this. I put the true/false outputs of the encoder in a boolean array and then, from the boolean array to a number. (see the attacched VI)
Here's how I devided the inputs between the two modules
-NI 9401 2 :
DIO0= 2^0
DIO1= 2^1
DIO2= 2^2
DIO3= 2^3
DIO4= 2^4
DIO5= 2^5
DIO6= 2^6
DIO7= 2^7
- NI 9401
DIO0= 2^8
DIO1= 2^9
DIO2= 2^10
DIO3= 2^11
DIO4= 2^12
When running the VI I suddenly realized that every time all the input for each modules should be true ( i.e. five leds on for the second module or eight leds on for the first) , the value of all the inputs goes immediately to 0 i.e. all the leds switch off . To make an example: I see 4 leds on for the second module but when comes the time of the fifth, all the leds switch off so it means all the inputs are false which i can't understand. I tried to change the pin assignments in order to read the same inputs from different pins and this did'nt change anything. I tried to use only 4 inputs for the second module and this didn't work. Every time all the inputs for each module should be true it goes up to (n-1) inputs true and the n inputs zero. More information about this strange behaviour: while a normal false input produces a voltage of 0.036 V the voltage I measured from the last pin that should be true and that should give me all the leds on for one module, produces instead -0.146 V.
This is everything I tried in order to solve this problem but now I'm at a dead end.
Could it be a kind of module setting which I didn't consider?
Due to all the attempts I've made I excluded any disfunction of the encoder so I focused my attention to the modules.
Does anyone of you have any idea?
Thanks!!

Prova_encoder2.vi 155 KBThanks a lot JMota!
We just sent back the encoder to the company who sells them. They want to be sure it's not a product defect or, even worse, a problem of conflict with the NI 9401.
In the meanwhile we built up the acquisition VI for the accelerometer and the encoder. One while loop sends the accelerometer data to a DMA FIFO and another parallel while loop is used to read the encoder outputs and send these data to another DMA FIFO. I did this because I know only 1 DMA FIFO can be used for each channel. When I read the data with two FIFO.read with two parallel loops in the Real-Time I discovered that I can't make them work indipendently as i thought i.e. reading settings of one FIFO.read ( number of elements and loop timing) affects also the other FIFO.read .
Any explanation for this behavior?
Thanks again JMota! -
Strange behavior with Collections
Hello!
I have a - from my point of view - strange behavior with a List (same also applies to Vector, LinkedList, and others):
List<String> myList = new myList<String>;
myList.add("One");
while (true) {
try {
System.out.println(myList.size());
throw new Exception();
} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}And the result is 1, 2, 2, 2, ...although I added only one element. The two elements in the List point to the same object.
What could case this issue?

Strange behavior of BAPI_SALESORDER_SIMULATE
Hi All,
I am using standard BAPI - BAPI_SALESORDER_SIMULATE , to simulate the sales order creation.
But this BAPI gives strange behavior for different customers but same material combination.
I get incorrect schedule line for one customer.
The material is a non-stock material and purchase requisition is generated for each material to vendor.
The sales area is same for both the customers, while executing the BAPI.
However, for same material but for different customer, schedule line appears incorrect and different for these two customers.
Can you help me on this ?

Hi,
After moving from Win8 to Win8.1 (using WindowsStore update),
I observed sometimes that some command prompt Windows (ugly black MSDOS Windows) opens / closes Repetitively in my desktop.
At a moment where the computer was really busy, I was abble to see the title of this black window :
It was : C:\Program Files\Microsoft\OnlineManagement\Updates\Bin\omupdclt.exe
Can someone tell me how to prevent this strange behavior ?
Thanks in advance.
AC Soft.I have also openned a case at WindowsIntune support, and up to now, they replyed me this :
We have been able to reproduce this issue ourselves. We are currently working with our engineers to identify if there is a way to prevent these command prompts from launching.
So, while waiting, I Tried your solution.
On the Win8.1 computer that had the problem, i found an AccoundID value, with { }, and all letters in Uppercase, as described in your solution. So, the problem for me is not that AccountID is not populated...
When I looked at another Win8.1 computer that had not the problem, i found an AccountID value
without { }, and with all letters
in lowercase.
So I looked at a Win7 Virtual machine that was enroled into intune too, and that obviously didn't had the problem, and I found there an AccountID value without { }, and with all letters in lowercase, same as on the working computer.
So on the computer that had the problem, I removed the { }, put all letters in lowercase, then run
%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft\OnlineManagement\Updates\Bin\omupdclt.exe /agentupdatenow
I rebooted the computer, and now, I wait to see if the problem is solved...
I will tell you what happened in some days...
AC Soft.
That process will not fix this issue. We have a fix coming in an upcoming service release.
Thanks,
