Strange behaviour of Crystal report with BEx Query

Hiii. All
I have created a crystal report on top of BW-BEx query. My query contains a structure other than Keyfig.
Thats why I am using BW-MDX query option to build my Report.
i Have created a cross tab in my report taking the structure as Column and some key figures in Summarised fields.
till here it works fine. but whenever I am dragging some fields say "Project Defination or Location" to  report header section, which are also coming frm BEx query. then my cross tab is not showing all colomn of the structure(Precisely it removing one column of the structure).
Can anyone pls tell me  why is it happening. and how to proceed to solve this.
Waiting for your reply..
Thanks
Anish

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Yes it returning data . Structure contains total 13 columns .
So It is suppose to return all 13 of them. and it is doing so till i don't drag-drop the field. once i do this its behaving strangely and returning me only 12 columns.
CR 2008 Version : 12.3.0.601
BO Version : BO XI  3.1

  • Crystal Reports with BEx Query using Custom Exit Variable

    Hi,
We have BW BEx Query using Customer User Exit variable to derive  the Fiscal Week for Last Year (called it VAR2) based on another user input variable Current Fiscal Week (called it VAR1).
VAR2 is derived from VAR1 in CMOD via some codings and thus it DOES NOT have the "Variable is Ready for Input" flag ticked in the BEx. VAR1 is user input variable, so it has "Variable is Ready for Input" flag ticked in the BEx.
When we create a Crystal Reports with the BEx Query using variable VAR2, and when we run it we got an error message saying "Failed to execute query; '[]<java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: No Selection State Support!ZP_MI_LYPUBWEEK>'. Redesign your query or contact the data source maintainer to solve the problem".  (note: ZP_MI_LYPUBWEEK is VAR2 in this case).
Could anyone please assist? Surely, CR supports BEx customer user exit variables like the above, right?. I also refer to the forum below as it seems to have a similar issue (except mine with an error message), but it does not provide a solution in it.

    Hi Vibhav,
We have the SAP Crystal Reports for Enterprise XI4.0 Version 14.0.0. Not sure if SP0 or other SP, got to check with Basis Team later.
We tried that "mandatory" option and did not work either.
Anyway, SAP has now come back again saying it is something they will fix it in next release/version. We got a phone call from them and a reply below to our OSS.

  • Unknown error when executing MDX when refreshing Crystal Report with BEx

    Hello Experts,
I have created a Crystal Report (Crystal 2008 SP1) with BEx Query (7.10) and have been able to refresh successfully when the SAP_ALL authorization is included in my user role. I don't want my end users to have SAP_ALL so I created a role and assigned the authorizations recommended in the SAP Integration Kit for BusinessObjects 3.1 Install Guide.
When I run the report as one of the users assigned to my new role I get the following error in the trace file.
    ERROR: .\crdb_bwmdx_execution.cpp [200]: l_bapiGetStreamInfo failed with return code RFC_RC = 0 Exception:  BAPI Error: BAPI Error #:0
    Unknown error when executing MDX
2188     6556     Caught DbError #1 with Message 'BAPI Error #:0

2188     6556     Caught DbError #1 with Message 'BAPI Error #:0
    Unknown error when executing MDX'
2188     6556     Caught DbError #1 with Message 'BAPI Error #:0
    Unknown error when executing MDX'
I tried all the Fix Packs (ie 1.1., 1.2 and 1.3) for XI 3.1 Integration Kit to try resolving the error but it didn't work.
The same query works fine in BEx Web when running as one of the users in the new role I created for Crystal Report users.
Are there any other Authorizations that I need to include in the role?
    Cheers.
    Paul.

We have been able to identify what causes the MDX driver to error and I will explain what we are trying to implement with the hierarchies.
Firstly, we are creating reports of the HR cube Mutliprovider using the SAP MDX Driver which works well when there are no authorization analysis set on the cube. But with the authorization analysis set for on 0ORGUNIT for BEx Explorer Crystal returns the MDX error.
Each of the Business Unit managers are assigned to an Organization Unit that will be used to restrict the employees that will be reported. To restrict the Managers to only see their Org Unit we have set the 0ORGUNIT object to use authorization ananlysis and a custom authorization variable to return only data for the Org Unit they belong too.
In Crystal this works well when a manager has an Org Unit that is a head department of other Org Units. This scenario will give Crystal the NodeID and Parent NodeID to create the hierarchies in the report. But when a manager does not have any other Org Units beneath there own department then Crystal doesn't have a Parent NodeID to create the Hierarchies with the NodeID. In the RFC trace I can see an error when Crystal is trying to get the Parent NodeID but the user is not authorized to that Org Unit then it throws the error.
We have got a temporary workaround which is to create the managers a dummy Org Unit below their own department. The workaround will do for now but shouldn't the MDX driver be able to recognise that it has returned the last level in the Org Unit Hierarchy and not return an error?
The customer is looking for a product fix as they believe this should be handled by the driver. Is this a bug or a limitation of the product?
    Paul.

  • Crystal report blocks bex query

    Hi,  gurus.
I'm in such situation - i need to delete BEX query wich is used in crystal reports. Changing database in my report i simply made new crystal report. So i need to delete it from bw. If you know the way please tell me.
    Any help ll be appreciated
    regards, andrew

    Hi,
I assume you saved the report to the BW system and then the system will show you - and not allow to delete - the query before it is used in a report - standard "where used" functionality of BW. you need to delete the report first

  • BO Edge 3.1 run Crystal Report with sub query or Union

I have some reports with subquery and union SQL Command and put them in SAP BO Edge 3.1 server. The results are very disappointed. I scheduled 3 instances of the same report to run at 5:30 a.m. . When I used the Crystal Report 2008 to run the report, it took only 3 minutes. One instance took several minutes but other two never came back. When I came back to the office at 8:30 a.m., they were still running. What is the problem with SAP BO Edge? Any solution? the reports are very important and I have to get up at 5:30 a.m. to check to see the result and re run as needed. Any suggestion?
    Thanks.

Look at the errors in each instance to help determine the cause

  • Report on BEx query with 2 structures (one in rows and one in columns)

Hi, experts! I have to make Crystall report on BEx query with 2 structures, one in columns (with KF's), and one in rows. Is it possible to create such report? Because when I create such report, I cant see fields in structures, only characteristics fields.
Ok, I found samr problem in another thread. Sorry.
Edited by: Mikhail Sychev on Dec 5, 2009 9:53 PM

    Hey Flora,
Happy to hear that its working now.
Answering your question, again its upto the connection and report format you are using. Based on your question i hope you your report output should be like this.
You cannot map to two labels for the series, again this report format is possible only in cross tab through Webi. I would suggest you to concatenate the material and month in a dimension in webi like below.
I have done the concatenation in excel level, i would suggest you to do that in webi. Try to reduce the formula as much in excel.
    or
If you are using Query browser connection, then i would suggest you to create a separate report which will display the actual vs plan material wise, here you need to pass the material as a prompt.
Hope this helps in clear, please revert me for any clarification.

  • Crystal Reports and BW Query- Translation

    Hello,
I'm trying to use Crystal reports with BW Query in the Hebrew Language.
When i open the Crystal Reports and connect to SAP I'm putting the Hebrew language key in the logon screen. When the crystal report starts i can see the reports info objects but without the Hebrew description. I can see that in the formula fields the Language key is selected but shouldnt i get the info objects description as well?
    Thanks,
    David

    Hi David,
when I create a new report (using the SAP toolbar) I always get the descriptions for the info objects on the field explorer according to the language I set when I logon on into the SAP system my query resides in. I tried with both english and german language and it works fine. I assume you have installed the hebrew language pack for CR and that the hebrew descriptions are maintained in your SAP system. I also assume that you are talking about creating a report here and not opening an existing one though. In this case the language at creation time defines which descriptions are displayed.
If the above assumptions are valid, then you may face a hebrew language specific problem here. Opening a support case would probably make sense.

  • Issues with Bex query structures and Crystal Reports/Webi

    Hi experts,
I'm having an issue with Bex Query structures and nulls. I've built a Crystal Report against a Bex query that uses a Bex Query structure. The structure looks like the following
    Budget $
    Budget %
    Actual $
    Actual %
    Budget YTD
    etc
if I drag the structure into the Crystal Report detail section with a key figure it displays like this
    Budget $     <null>
    Budget %     <null>
    Actual $     300
    Actual %     85
    Budget YTD     250
the null values are displayed (and this is what is required). However if I filter using a Record selection or group on a profit centre then the nulls along with the associated structure component are not displayed.
    Actual $     300
    Actual %     85
    Budget YTD     250
Webi is also behaving similarly. Can anyone explain why the above is happening and suggest a solution either on the Bex side of things or on the Crystal Reports side of things? I'm confused as to why nulls are displayed in the first example and not the second.
    Business Objects Edge 3.1 SP2
    SAP Int Kit SP2
    OS: Linux
    BW 701 Level 6
    Crystal Reports 2008 V1
    Thanks
    Keith

    Hi,
Crystal Reports and Web Intelligence will only show data which is in the cube. You could have an actual 0 or Null entry whithout grouping but by changing the selection / grouping in the report the data does not include such entry anymore.

  • Crystal Report with Compound Key

    Hi,
I have Characteristic with Compound Key in SAP BW 7.0. This Characteristic use to store the Purchase Order Item Line. The Compound Key is the Purchase Order Document.
So I will have the following fields created for this Characteristic:
Compound Key (Purchase Order Document) 5600001982, Purchase Order Item Line 10
I created a Query for this Characteristic and I have the following as result:
    10 ...
    20 ...
    30 ...
    All works fine.
Now I created the Crystal Report from this Query. When I display this Characteristic in Crystal Report, I have the following:
    5600001982/10
    5600001982/20
    5600001982/30
Is this a bug or Crystal not support the Compound Key?
    Please advise, thank you.

    Hello,
    Did you get this resolved.
Were you able to display characteristics in Crystal without the compounding characteristic.
    Thanks.

  • Crystal Report Date Prompt  Query from SAP BW

    Dear Support,
Using Crystal Report 2008 and Query is design In SAP BW
Date Prompt is made mandatory in Query at Query Designer.
Problem:  Requirent is that Date promt shoud take value currentdate-1
when report is excuted first date prompt will show in that prompt value should have today date - 1 which is yesterday date.
how to pass formula to date prompt?
    Thanks

If the prompt value should always be CurrentDate -1, then there is no need to use a prompt at all. Just put the formula to the selection criteria.
If you want the prompt to default to CurrentDate -1, while allowing the user to change the prompt to another date if they wish... That won't work. CR won't allow you to use a formula as the default value in a prompt.
If there is a BO Universe between you and the tables... IE, you're building against the universe, you'll need to get with the universe designer and have them make an alternate field available that has the formula hard coded in the SQL as opposed prompting.
    HTH,
    Jason

  • Does BOXI support crystal reports with parameter references in formulas?

I am designing a report in Crystal Reports XI Developer that contains parameters, which are passed to a stored procedure and are also used within formulas ( in Crystal Syntax ie. {?FORMAT_ID} ) in the report itself.
I can run the report successfully in CRXI Developer.  The formulas use the correct values from the parameters entered during execution and everything looks good.
I then deploy the report to Business Objects Enterprise XI.  I do all of the things necessary to manage the report including setting up the proper database connection information and default parameter values.
When I run the report using the Crystal Report Viewer, I get the following error message:
    Error in File Forecasting.rpt:
    Error in formula <Report Format>.
    'if (not isNull({?FORMAT_ID} ) ) then
This field name is not known.
    Details: errorKind
This happens when I press the "Preview" button in the Manage Object dialog from Crystal or when I run the report using InfoView.
I have changed the formulas and it doesn't seem to matter what the specific content of the formula is; other than the existence of a parameter reference in the formula.  If I comment out the parameter and replace it with a hard-coded value, it gets through the formula fine.
Does Business Objects Enterprise XI support crystal reports with parameter references in the formulas?
    Thanks,
    Tim H.

    Hi,
In Crystal Reports under File -> Report Options >check convert Null Values to default > Verify on first refresh > Verify stored procedures on first refresh.
This corrected the issue by allowing the query engine time to locate those columns and map them to the query being sent by the report.
The convert null values was added because those field were being used in the record selection and grouping.

  • Business Objects Crystal Reports with Clarity - anyone on here use is?

    Hi all,
we are in the process of upgrading our Clarity system to version 8.1.1 - which has gone away from Actuate to support Crystal Reports instead.
Is anyone here using Crystal Reports with Actuate already?
I was looking into upgrading from CR XI to CR 2008 - but wondered if the extra functionality is worth the upgrade cost.
They say that users can interact with the data by sorting/filtering and re-formatting without re-querying the database - and there is a parameter panel that allows new parameters to be added to the 'saved' data..
i was wondering if those features are available when it is used with Clarity..
    thanks in advance,
    Matt

    Hi Matthew,
I recommend to post this query to the [Crystal Reports Design|SAP Crystal Reports;  forum:
That forum is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there.
Also, all Crystal Reports Design queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.
    Thanks a lot,

  • Can i use crystal reports standard to query ODBC datasources

    Post Author: Andy Forrest
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    Dear all,
I'm struggling to identify if i can use crystal reports standard to query ODBC data-sources, the only information i can find is the following :-
An intuitive solution that provides basic report design functionality off of PC-based data sources, Crystal Reports XI Standard Edition will provide you with access to data stored in personal data sources.
This gives the impression that i cant access any data other than local data, can anyone give me a definitive answer or point me to somewhere that explains in a little more detail.  We are about to purchase some copies but need to ensure crystal reports standard can access ODBC data sources.  We are replacing crystal reports 8 standard edition and need to ensure previous reports will still run.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
    Cheers

Well, you can certainly connect to ODBC with Crystal XI Developer.  I'd be very surprised if you couldn't with the Standard version as well.  Not the definitive answer you were looking for, I suppose.

  • Reporting tools for the Business user - Crystal reports or BEx tools ?

    Hi,
We have recently implemented BI/BO infrastructure. Scope of the inital implementation was an executive dashboard based off COPA data. We have used Xelcisus for dashboard and BEx tools for query design etc.
We would like to set up some of our key business users (analysts in respective functions) to be able to write their own queries off this COPA cube. The discussion point is whether to roll out Crystal reports for business users or have them trained on BEx tools i.e BEx query designer/analyzer.
Any inputs to my question "Crystal Reports or BEx tools for the Business users - pros and cons", is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Girish

Our user currently do not have anything.  It's fresh implementation. We would like to get the business users involved. The question is - what's the best start for a business user - Crystal Reports or Bex ?
