Strange behaviour of Hyper-v 2012 network

Hello!
I have been testing Server 2012 hyper-v on a server with 2 gigabit nics, each one connected to gigabit cisco switch.
One nic is "straight" management with ip 10.179.10.30 and second - ip 10.179.10.31 is used for hyper-v machines.
I created external virtual switch on interface 10.179.10.31, deploy virtual machine- everything workrd fine until I checked "Allow management operating system to share this network adapter" on virtyal switch settings.
After that all vms on host become freezing in stopping state, and i cannot restart hyper-v service.  But when i disconnect cable from "straignt" interface 10.179.10.30 it again works fine.
I'm very confused of such situation and i need help to understand whats going on. No vlans used in my configuration, vm gets ip address from DHCP from the same subnet 10.179.10.0/24.
I had tested this situation on different servers but always had the same results. Maybe i should configure switch ports somehow?

Brian,
So what should we do for this same subnet situation? I also have this type of situation. I have 2 Hyper-V host with a dedicated NIC for management and for VM production ( VM connecting to the outside world).
The Hyper-V host dedicated NIC has a static IP address ( 192.168.1.11) and the VM production NIC gets an IP address via DHCP ( same subnet through 192.168.1.xxx). Cluster configuration network validation is giving a warning of same subnet.
For the VM production NIC , I created a Virtual Switch so it created a Vethernet , that my VM can use. should I allow management operating system to share this network adapter?
For the Management NIC should I leave it alone or should I create another virtual switch for it (as you say it created a multi homed scenario)?
Please advice.

  • Hyper V 2012 network options

We are testing Hyper V 2012, and the networking options seem confusing.
I created a virtual external switch on the host, trunked vlans down to it from an upstream 3750, and created some VMs.
No problem there: the VMs were able to get outside, etc.
But what do the "private" and "internal" networks give me?
It is my understanding that neither private nor internal networks can communicate with subnets/networks outside the host(s)
I thought maybe I could use private networks and have the Hyper V 2012 host route the traffic out to the real world, apply security policies, etc.
Is this even possible? Or do the options simply isolate VMs? (and are therefore not any better of existing VMWare technology)

My understanding is that the private and internal networks are for networking specific to the hyper-v host. So you can create a private netwok that allows two VMs to communicate with each other but not the outside world.
There is no way to forward that traffic outside the hyper-v host.
We are working on N1KV for Hyper-v which will bring most of the NXOS feature set to Hyper-v. So PVLANs, ACLs, port-channels, QOS, etc...

  • Hyper-v 2012 r2 slow throughputs on network / live migrations

Hi, maybe someone can point me in the right direction, I have 10 servers 5 Dell r210s and 5 Dell R320's, I have basically converted these servers to standalone hyper-v 2012 servers, so there is no clustering on any at the moment.
Each server is configured with 2 1Gb nics teamed via a virtual switch, now when I copt files between server 1 and 2 for example I see 100MBs throughput, but if I copy a file to server 3 at the same time the file copy load splits the 100MBs throughput between
the 2 copy processes. I was under the impression if I copied 2 files to 2 totally different servers the load would basically be split across the 2 nics effectively giving me 2Gbs throughput but this does not seem to be the case. I have played around with tcpip
large send offloads, jumbo packets, disabled vmq on the cards, they are broadcoms. :-(  but it doesn't really seem to make a difference with all of these settings.
The other issue is If I live migrate a 12Gb vm machine running only 2gb ram, effectively just an o/s it takes between 15 to 20 minutes to migrate, I have played around with the advanced settings, smb, compression, tcpip not real game changers, BUT if I shut
town the vm and migrate it, it takes, just under 3 and a half minutes to move across.
I am really stumped here, I am busy in a test phase of hyper-v but cant find any definitive documents relating to this stuff.

    Hi Mark,
The servers (hyper-v 2012 r2) are all basically configured with ssvmm2012R2 where they all have teamed 1Gb pNics, into a virtual switch, then there are vNics for the Vmcloud, live migration etc.  The physical network is 2 Netgear Gs724T switches which
are interlinked and each servers 1st nic is plugged into the switch1 and the second nic is plugged into the switch2.See Below Image)  The hyper-v port is set to independent Hyper-v load balancing.
The R320 servers are running raid 5 sas drives, the R210s have 1Tb drives mirrored.  The servers all are using DAS storage, we have not moved to looking at using iscsi and san is out the question at the moment.
I am currently testing between 2x 320s and 2x R210s, I am not copying data to the vm's yets, I am basically testing the transfer between the actual hosts at the moment by copying a 4Gb file manually, After testing the live migrations I decided to test to
see the transfer rates between the servers first, I have been playing around with the offload settings and rss, what I don't understand is yesterday, the copy between the servers was running up to 228Mbs ie (using both nics) when copying
the file between the servers, and then a few hours later it only was copying at 50/60Mbs, but its now back at 113Mbs seemingly to be only using one nic.
I was under the impression if you copy a file between 2 servers the nicks could use the 2gb bandwidth, but after reading many posts they say only one nic, so how did the copies get up to 2Gb yesterday. Then again if you copy files between 3 servers, then
each copy would use one nic, basically giving you 2Gbs, but this is again not being seen.

  • Windows 8.1 Enterprise Evaluation- Strange behaviour of network adapter

Hello there are discussions and questions around this community about network adapter dropping connection while system is running. But I have found unique problem with my network adapter driver.
I have tried to state my problem as clearly as possible. Please ask if any detail is required.
My network status shows no access on following occasions:
    1. On alternate system wakeups.
        eg:
    a. System boots up
    Internet accessible
    no problem
    b. I put system to sleep(first time) and wake it up
    No access to internet !!!
When I check in network and sharing center not even adapter shows in disabled status.(See video from the link given below).
    c. Without restarting system or without installing network adapter again,  I put system to sleep again and wake it up (2nd time).
    Internet accessible
    d. I put system to sleep for (3rd time) and wakes it up.
    No access to internet!!
If I put system to sleep again and wake it up definitly I get network access.
    2. If I switch off the modem before windows shutdown completely or in the process of shutdown, next time when I boot system, even though the modem is switched on before booting the system, No internet access tooltip will be shown on network
    sysbol.
Another strange behaviour is on no internet access status, I start installing adapter, and it loads required files and prompt me to click "next" and "click" install.
But the thing is before I go to "next" button, I will get network access as shown in this link
http://youtu.be/sPlXVEiYBeo. Ignore virtualbox adapter. Same behaviour was there when there is no vbox adapter. Same was happening in Windows 8 Pro, but not in windows 7, so that there is no H/W problem I think.
Any idea on how to fix this or any alternate solution ?

    Hi,
Firstly, access your network adapter official website to get the proper driver applied to your system.
Then going to Control Panel > Device Manager, right click your adapter > Properties. Under the Power Management tab, make sure "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" checkbox unchecked.
If it still persists, try to disable "fast startup" as below steps:
1.In Control Panel, open the Power Options item.
2.Click the Choose what the power buttons do link.
3.Clear the Turn on fast startup (recommended) check box.
    4.Click Save Settings.

  • Hyper-V 2012 R2 does not disable the protocols on the physical network adapter

    Hello,
I have a problem with the creation of an external network in Hyper-V (2012 r2), when I create the external network does not want to share with the host, therefore I take the check to share it. Hyper-V on the network adapter "real" does not disable
all protocols, but active all inclusive TCP4 and 6.
    How so?
I have 2 other servers with the same configuration and run regularly.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Fabio,
"when I create the external network does not want to share with the host, therefore I take the check to share it. "
Based on my understanding ,after creating a external Vswitch  the physical NIC will only have protocol  "hyper-v external virtual switch " whatever we check "allow management operation...." or not .
Do you mean after you create the external Vswitch , the physical adapter still have another protocol ?
If yes , my suggestion is to remove the physical NIC from "device manager " , then restart server and reload the driver  then create the external Vswitch again .
    Best Regards

  • Hyper-V 2012 R2 Cluster - Drain Roles / Fail Roles Back

    Hi all,
In the past when I've needed to apply windows updates to my 3 Hyper-V cluster nodes I used to make a note of which VM's were running on each node, then I'd live migrate them to one of the other cluster nodes before pausing the node I need to work on and
carry out the updates, once I finished installing the updates I'd then simply resume the node and live migrate the VM's back to their original node.
Having recently upgraded my nodes to Windows 2012 R2 I decided to use the new functionality in Failover Cluster Manager where you can pause & drain a node of its roles, perform the updates/maintenance, and then resume & fail roles back to the node,
unfortunately this didn't go as smoothly as I'd hoped, for some reason it seems like the drain/fail back decided to be cumulative rather than one off jobs per-node ... hard to explain, hopefully the following will be clear enough if the formatting survives:
    1. Beginning State:
    Hyper1     Hyper2     Hyper3
    VM01        VM04       VM07
    VM02        VM05       VM08
    VM03        VM06       VM09
    2. Drain Hyper1:
    Hyper1     Hyper2     Hyper3
                    VM04       VM01
                    VM05       VM02
                    VM06       VM03
                                   VM07
                                   VM08
                                   VM09
    3. Fail Roles Back:

    VM01        VM04       VM07
    VM02        VM05       VM08

                    VM04
                    VM05

    VM01        VM04       VM07
    VM02        VM05       VM08
    VM03        VM06       VM09
Step 8 was a rather hairy moment, although I was pleased to see my cluster hardware capacity planning rubber stamped, good to know that if I were ever to loose 2 out of 3 nodes everything would keep ticking over!
So, I'm back to the old ways of doing things for now, has anyone else experienced this strange behaviour?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ben

  • RDS - Issue using Windows 10 build 9926 as Virtual Desktop Infrastructure on Hyper-V 2012 R2

We currently have a production Windows 8.1 as a VDI/RDS on Hyper-V 2012 R2. On testing the last build of Windows 10 (98??) we had no issues deploying this in same RDS as pooled desktops.
The latest build 9926, although correctly sysprep-ed (either by removing AppX modern apps that have been updated, or not connecting the template to the internet), the build is only ever partially successful. Some VMs build others do not, and the ones that
build cannot be managed via RDS/Server Manager, functions such as logging a user off  with server manager, result in an error. (WTS API failed)
Build Error on connection Broker - Microsoft-Windows-TerminalServices-SessionBroker
VM host [HOSTSERVER05] failed to execute VM Provisioning operation [Task: To perform post processing actions at VMHostAgent:] for virtual machine [VDI-W10-57] in pool [VDI_Advanced_Te], Error: [Error code: 0x88130221.]
Any guidance on how to troubleshoot this would be greatly appreciated, although I suspect something regarding the auto-deployment/unattend and management systems though RDS no longer works with the latest Windows 10 build.
    Already posted this in the
Windows Insider Program site, but was asked to re-post here. Thanks

OK, I've carried out some more testing on the client site and have been able to move a couple of existing VMs from their 2008 R2 Hyper-V server to the new 2012 R2 server.
Both VMs are Windows 7 SP1 with the RDP 8.0 update installed and I can connect to them from a Thin Client running RDP 7.1 and a laptop running RDP 8.0.
When I add the RemoteFX vGPU to them both I can still connect from both devices but, as suggested, when connecting from the laptop with RDP 8.0 I don't get the vGPU performance (but the vGPU is still shown in the device manager).
It all looks good at the moment but I'm still concerned as to why I was unable to connect to the first VM I moved over (it was complaining about a error in the License network communication or similar).
I'll keep testing and post anything else that might be useful.
    Cheers for now

  • SLES 10 (SP3) on Hyper-V 2012 R2

I do realize that is unsupported (only SP4 supposedly is)
But I have SLES 10 (SP3) image that got converted from vSphere
Once I can boot the IDE disk (by editing menu.lst to /hda1 & uninstall Vmware Tools, I would need to get network connectivity, so logical step would be to use Intergration Services 2.1 (one that supports SLES 10 SP3)
But it is a no go. On make install during load of vmbus the whole VM just hangs & dies
    http://imageshack.com/a/img545/7339/16u1.jpg
The initrd never even gets created as it dies & reset is the only option
If I rem-out vmbus start in Makefile then I can get new kernel installed, but restulting kernel will panic on VM boot
Anybody has any clever idea how to get it working (if at all possible)
    Seb

Getting this to work is going to be difficult.  The older LIS 2.1 does not work with Hyper-V 2012 and 2012 R2 due to changes in Hyper-V itself.  But you could probably get SLES 10 SP3 with LIS 2.1 working if you went back to the older Hyper-V
    2008 R2.
You are correct that the LIS 3.4 package is created only for the Red Hat (and CentOS) distros.  It will not work with SLES releases.
We've gotten occasional requests to get SLES 10 working on Hyper-V 2012 and 2012 R2, and we're in conversations with SUSE about creating a combination that works.  But we don't have anything to announce about a timeline.  When/if we get something
working, it will most likely be SLES 10 SP4, since that's the most up-to-date version from the SLES 10 series.

  • Moving VMs From One Hyper-v 2012 R2 to Another Hyper-v 2012 R2

Hi everyone, was hoping for some help in something I am confused about

I want to move all my VMs (around 20)  to SERVER2 also running Hyper-v 2012 R2
But I am confused on the best way to do this
    1) should I just click on "MOVE" on SERVER1 to move to SERVER2?
    2) Should I do an export and then import
    3) should I setup replication from Server1 to Server2 and then do a failover?
    4) or should I shut the VM down, copy the VHDX file and then create a new VM and use that VHDX
I just want to be cautious and use the best method to ensure it goes smooth and not worry about any corruption. Can anyone offer some advice?

It all depends on your environment and your current Hyper-V configuration.
I asume both servers are domain-member of the same domain and don't use SCVMM. If so, then make sure you do the following:
First enable the "Live Migration" feature in the Hyper-V settings on both Hyper-V Servers.
Make sure both Hyper-V Servers have a vSwitch configured with the same display name and connectivity. They must be somewhat identical, but not everything. As long as the connectivity is the same.
Make sure you have a location to store the VM files on SERVER2.
Then do a Live Migration from SERVER1 to SERVER2, follow the wizard. By using the Hyper-V Manager console on SERVER1.
NOTE1: Without computer certificates and Kerberos configuration on your Live Migration settings you cannot initiate a Live Migration from the Hyper-V Manager cconsole on SERVER2. With the default configuration, you have to login on (or connect
to) SERVER1 en then initiate the Live Migration.
NOTE2: If you can't configure the vSwitches the same. Then you have to shut down the VMs and do a Quick Migration. Then re-configure the VM network properties and power on the VMs.
I hope this information will help you goin on. If you need more detailed information use the following link:

  • Strange behaviour from new 2012R2 in old domain

    Hi all,
At work (education level), I'm starting to take charge of windows admin, so beiing a noob admin I'm finding strange behaviours that I hope you can help me solve them all :-)
We've one (big) domain with about 5000 computers (workers and students all together), and around 50000 users (again, workers and students all together) setup like this:
    DC-DOMAIN-1:
    Windows Server 2008R2
    Shares NETLOGON and SYSVOL
    DC-DOMAIN-2:
    Windows Server 2003 R2 x64
    Shares CertEnroll, NETLOGON, SMSLOGON, SYSVOL
Checking RootDSE, I see 'domainControllerFunctionaly is Windows 2003' (DC-DOMAIN-2)
So, with this setup, I've noticed these strange behaviours, hope list isn't too big  (guess there will be more behaviours but these seemed too odd):
    1) On DC-DOMAIN-2, WinServer 2003 eventlog, inside 'Directory Service', I found this warning event ID 1083 (Source NTDS Replication):
Active Directory could not update the following object with changes received from the domain controller at the following network address because Active Directory was busy processing information.
    Object:CN=<an user name>, CN=Users, DC=DOMAIN
Usually followed by an information event (eventid 1955) which says:
ctive Directory encountered a write conflict when applying replicated changes to the following object.
    Object:
<SAME USER OBJECT THAN PREVIOUS EVENT ID>
    Time in seconds:
    0
Event log entries preceding this entry will indicate whether or not the update was accepted.
A write conflict can be caused by simultaneous changes to the same object or simultaneous changes to other objects that have attributes referencing this object. This commonly occurs when the object represents a large group with many members, and the functional level of the forest is set to Windows 2000. This conflict triggered additional retries of the update. If the system appears slow, it could be because replication of these changes is occurring.
    User Action
Use smaller groups for this operation or raise the functional level to Windows Server 2003.
And having as result that user being blocked in domain.
    2) I've added a new print server based on Windows Server 2012R2 (running inside an updated ESX 5.5 with VMXNET3 ethernet adapter as recommended by vmware), and seen in the event viewer these warnings/errors:
    At System log:
Error Event ID 5783, Source NETLOGON:
The session setup to the Windows NT or Windows 2000 Domain Controller \\DC-DOMAIN-2.fulldns.name for the domain DOMAIN is not responsive. The current RPC call from Netlogon on \\PRINTSERVER to \\DC-DOMAIN-2.fulldns.name has been cancelled.
I've seen Event ID 5783 with DC-DOMAIN-1 too....
Error Event ID 5719, Source NETLOGON:
This computer was not able to set up a secure session with a domain controller in domain DOMAIN due to the following:
The remote procedure call failed and did not execute.
This may lead to authentication problems. Make sure that
this computer is connected to the network. If the problem persists, please contact your domain administrator.
    ADDITIONAL INFO:
If this computer is a domain controller for the specified domain, it sets up the secure session to the primary domain controller emulator in the specified domain. Otherwise, this computer sets up the secure session to any domain controller in the specified domain.
At Microsoft-Windows-TerminalServices-RemoteConnectinoManager/Admin found also this warning:
Warning Event ID 20499 Source TerminalServices-RemoteConnectionManager:
Remote Desktop Services has taken too long to load the user configuration from server \\DC-DOMAIN-2.fulldns.name for user administrator
    3) If I try Group Policy Modeling on DC-DOMAIN-1 (server 2008R2), everything works fine, no matter if I try it against DC-DOMAIN-1 or DC-DOMAIN-2, but if I try this from the Server 2012R2 (the one from point 2), I get this:
Simulation against DC-DOMAIN-2: Gets executed, but all GPO show as inaccessible, empty or disabled.
Simulation against DC-DOMAIN-1: Sometimes it gets executed as DC-DOMAIN-2, sometimes I get an error saying query can't be executed.
    4) From server 2012R2, I usually manage printing GPO. If I click on the domain root (GPMC, forest, Domains, DOMAIN-NAME-ROOT) right pane, I get a pop up saying:
'A processing error ocurred collecting data using this base domain controller. Please change the base domain controller and try again'
After closing popup, right pane says something like 'DC-DOMAIN-2.fulldns.name' is the baseline domain controller for this domain.
No infrastructure Status information exists for this domain.
Click the Detect Now button below to gather infrastructure status from all of the domain controllers in this domain.
Pressing 'Detect Now' does nothing, and trying to select New Baseline DC shows again same pop up than before.
    5) Last, but not least, I've feeling that GPO takes too much to apply. I've found scenarios in which even after executing 'gpupdate /force' correctly on client computer either local or domain admin, I can't see the new changes (gpresult says it has been
updated though). But couldn't find anything on eventlog that informs about problems with GPOs...
For all these strange behaviours I've noticed in last month that I started checking things as sys admin, I believe domain is damaged, or something is wrong there (not just my new server 2012R2, even if it's running inside an ESX, blehh), so please, any hint
on what to check, what to change, what to fix, would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Paul,
Honestly, I'm still trying to figure out all broken things reported by tests :( Guess Jesper's suggestion about adding a new 2008 DC to get rid of 2003 and start checking again after that may be best option.
I'll try to summarize list of things I believe are wrong:
    running
DCDIAG /V /C /D /E /s:yourdcname > c:\dcdiag.log  for every DC, shows different errors. They show things such as:
another domain running here (not administered by us, only relationship is that our users are shared with that domain, nothing else) appear when Printing out pDsInfo (as if they were DC of our domain too, but they do not even share RootDomain). Guess it
may be for a bug old sys admin had when clonning from his 2008R2 template, that forgot to change SID... I already noticed 1 year ago our print server shared SID with those DC, guess there may be more servers sharing SID too :-(
Within Starting test: Replications, I see few messages at Replication Latency Check, such as the one for CN=Schema, CN=Configuration, DC=<ourdomain>:
Latency information for 35 entries in the vector were ignored.
35 were retired Invocations.  0 were either: read-only replicas and are not verifiably latent, or dc's no longer replicating this nc.  0 had no latency information (Win2K DC)
On Services test, I see an
Invalid service type: RpcSs on DC-DOMAIN-3, current value
                WIN32_OWN_PROCESS, expected value WIN32_SHARE_PROCESS
On SystemLog, I see LOTS of warnings/errors such as:
A warning event occurred.  EventID: 0x80000002
                Time Generated: 07/28/2014   08:21:54
(Event String (event log = System) could not be retrieved, error
                0x503)
An error event occurred.  EventID: 0xC0000003
                Time Generated: 07/28/2014   08:22:18
(Event String (event log = System) could not be retrieved, error
                0x3afc)
Missing entries on DNS (we've a static DNS)
netdiag.exe /v > c:\netdiag.log Showed again DNS problems such as our primary DNS pointing to all DC, secondary
DNS pointing just to DC with FSMO roles,...
    repadmin.exe /showrepl * /verbose /all /intersite > c:\repl.txt  Gave no errors, now I must check in detail
    if every replica is correct
    And finally,
dnslint /ad /s "ip address of your dc"  gave more DNS problems:
One or more DNS servers may not be authoritative for the domain
One or more DNS servers did not respond to UDP queries
One or more zone files may have expired
SOA record data was unavailable and/or missing on one or more DNS servers
Sumarizing, guess it will be better to fix DNS problems, promote new 2008R2 DC to get rid of 2003 one, promote domain to 2008 too, check again for messages and relationship with other domain, and then come back here for support if needed
EDIT: Almost forgot to talk about SYSVOL folder. As said before, there are 426 GPO folders inside Policies. Of them, 375 have an inetres.adm files in it (smallest one 1398 KB, almost all of them 2307 or 2707 kb)....

  • Can't connect to the Hyper-V manager after upgrading to Windows Hyper-V 2012 R2

I have some Hyper-V server based on the free version (Windows Hyper-V 2012). I want to upgrade to the new version (Windows Hyper-V 2012 R2). So I begin to test it with
an already working server (aka I was able to totally manager the server remotely without problem) and so upgrade it to the R2.
After the upgrade, remote management and Hyper-V manager does not work anymore. So I redo my usual configuration steps (enable remote management, open firewall, uses
latest hvremote.wsf, etc.). I was able to regain access to Computer Manager but not the Hyper-V manager which still can't connect at all. I can't access the Task Scheduler too without having a lot of XML error like "The task XML contains a value which
is incorrectly formatted or out of range" (see below for screenshot).
Is there a new step to do to be able to manage Hyper-V 2012 R2 from a Windows 7 computer?
It's not a network problem as I can access RDP and MMC Computer Manager.
To be sure the problem is coming from the R2, I have taken an old computer, install Windows Hyper-V 2012, do my usual configuration step, and
tada: it works perfectly. I can access the Hyper-V manager from my client.
    Technical details:
    - Client is a Windows 7 SP1 x64 English member of a domain with latest RSAT (Windows6.1-KB958830-x64-RefreshPkg.msu).
    - Servers are in a workgroup (not a domain's member). And no, I can't add them to the same domain as the client.

    HI,
Can we upgrade HyperV 2012 to hyper v 2012 R2.
    Thanks
    Atul

  • Strange behaviour of Adobe Forms

    Hi Experts,
I am using webdynpro Java with AIF on  NW2004s SP9, Adobe Reader 7.0.9 with NWDS 7.0.09.
AIF is working fine when I access using Local area network and I am facing strange behaviour of AIF using dial-up access. I am not able to retrieve the parameters of Adobe forms when I access using dial-up connecting through VPN to portal server. whatever values I entered in Adobe UI fields where not showing up in webdynpro application. Same application is working fine with LAN and able to retrieve all parameter values of Adobe UI elements.
Dial-up is connecting at 50kbps speed and Adobe forms size is around 300kb.
Grab your points with correct answers.

  • [SOLVED] French Canadian keyboard strange behaviour

    Hello!
I just upgraded to Gnome 2.30 in [testing] and my keyboard has a strange behaviour. With Gnome 2.28, my keyboard layout was set to Canadian French (legacy), and still is, though some of the keys do not behave the same. For instance, the accents "`", "¸" and ^ do not behave as usual, but rather give me some letter with that accent on it, rather than letting me choose the letter on which put the accent.
Moreover, the SHIFT+3 combination gives me a # instead of a /, but not in all software. Google Chrome has the good behaviour, but gnome-terminal gives me a #.
Do you understand any of this?
I'll post the packages I have upgraded.

    Problem solved!
I remembered I once configured my keyboard with HAL and /etc/hal/fdi/policy/10-keymap.fdi was set to xkb.layout=ca and xkd.variant=fr. I changed the GDM layout to Canada and removed the xkb.variant=fr from the .fdi file and everything was fixed!

    Hi Ravi1987,
The KB2838043 is applied for Server 2012 node, Could you offer us the related cluster error event id, or you can refer the following article to check your cluster

  • Change Hyper-V 2012 R2 failover cluster management subnet

    Hi,
We have an existing Hyper-V 2012 R2 Failover cluster.  Virtual machines are live on this cluster.  The networking team has decided to reorganise the network subnets.  As a consequence we need to change the management IPs of our Hyper-V failover
    clusters.
    What are the possibilities?
Evect 1 node from the cluster, set correct management IP on the evicted cluster. Create a single-node cluster.  Mask a new LUN to the single-host cluster.  Execute a shared nothing live migration of the VMs which are hosted on old cluster.
    Kr,
