Strange Behaviour while scanning from Canon MP600r with 10.5.7

Dear all,
I am working with the Canon MP600r (wifi) and scanned without any probs in Tiger. In Leopard I could not scan until 10.5.5. came out. Again everything was fine. Now in 10.5.6 and 10.5.7 I have strange problems: I can use the preview, abut while scanning suddenly it says that there is no communication with the scanner...!!
Hope for little help
Thanks
Bernhard

Hello Bernhard,
Your issue sounds like there may be a problem with signal strength. I would open the Canon IJ Network Tool (which you can access via the Utility icon from the Printer Queue) and check the signal strength.
If the strength is okay then you could try scanning at a low resolution, such as 75dpi. If you usually scan at a higher resolution, then scanning at a lower resolution will make the scanned file smaller and if that works then you know you still have a network quality issue. What brand and model of wireless router do you have?

  • How do I import directly from Canon XA10 with Final Cut X?

How do I import directly from Canon XA10 with Final Cut X?

I have an XA10, and importing is quite simple.  But you do have to make sure your camera is set to the proper settings to allow you to import the files into FCPX.
First, make sure the camera is powered on.  Connect it through the USB connection.  Then open the camera's viewfinder and press the button on the side of the camera that allows you to see the videos you've shot in the viewfinder.  (This toggle button toggles between seeing what the camera is pointed at live and seeing the thumbnails of the video you've already shot that are stored on the internal memory card.)  Now, the camera will present you with a menu asking which memory card you want to look at (there's an internal flash memory card, plus you can insert SD cards as well).  Choose the memory card on which your videos are stored within the camera, and then you'll be good to go.
Now you can go into your FCPX event and do the Import from Camera.  Now the Import from Camera interface will open up and you'll be able to select the XA10, where it will present you with all the videos that are on the camera's memory card that you selected.
From here,  you can select individual videos and import them, or you can set in and out points on videos and just import the parts you want.

  • Acrobat X crashes directly after completing first-side scan from Canon MF4570DN (both usb & network)

    Hi all,
There was a time when, blissfully, scanning via Acrobat X Pro worked perfectly. Around 6 months ago, Acrobat X Pro crashes directly after completing the first side scan for whatever documents I have placed in the Automatic Document Feeder (or just the first side if scanning from the platen glass).
The software that comes with the scanner scans fine, and the timing of the crash leads me to believe that this has something to do with Acrobat's image processing/optimization. When I click on Debug, it mentions the error code: 6056
I have tried repairing the installation.
I have tried the tips mentioned in the following thread(s):
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/767290
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4713172
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1050323?start=0&tstart=0
For what it's worth, deleting a bunch of the profile folders (actually renaming them) slowed down the process of crashing, which leads me to believe that whatever the process is that leads to the crash, it comes directly after writing a bunch of those preference folders...
I've been fighting this for 6 months now and it's really, really frustrating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Dear Mamak,
    Many thanks for the note.
I followed your advice and dowloaded new drivers for my Canon MF4880dw.
The filename was different than yours, because the model was different.
However, I noticed that this last version I downloaded is pretty new (released in April), so I was hoping it would fix the problem. Also, it was the same file for all versions of Mac OS X from 10.5 through 10.8.
Unfortunately, no luck: Acrobat still does not ask me to scan the reverse side. Maybe I should have uninstalled the printer before reinstalling it?
I more or less solved the problem by scanning double-sided documents on Acrobat 7 for Windows (which I also have installed on my Mac), which is not optimal, but at least works.
    Any thoughts?
    Thank you again,
    Salvatore

  • Duplex Scanning from Canon MX7600 Not Recognized in Acrobat 9 Pro

I am trying to duplex scan in PDF docs with a new Canon MX7600 scanner. The utility that comes with the printer has a complete duplex scan utility which includes PDF docs, but limits the names to around 28 characters which is not enough for our naming conventions. Also, I cannot scan directly to Secure PDF's. Nor can I set it to automatically ask for Meta Tags.
The Acrobat Create PDF Scan only recognizes or offers the standard set which does not include duplex scanning. Canon tells me that the naming length limitation is built into the software design. They suggested that I contact Adobe and so I am.
How do I get Acrobat 9 Pro to duplex scan directly into Acrobat?
Thanks and all the best, Craig.

They sometimes monitor, particularly in the last month or so. However, most of the answers here come from users. In many cases you might find the answers from users to be more useful than from tech support, unless it is an off the wall problem no one has run into or tried. Typically when you scan from Acrobat, there is a settings selection on the window where you select to scan. That may be where you can find what you want. As far as I know, the information in the settings is only what is made available to Acrobat through the product twain driver.
The other suggestion to try to scan into another product, such as a graphics package, might help you get a better feel of what is possible. You might also check the manual if you have not done that already.

  • After upgrading to Maverick I can print from Canon IR5050. Downloaded new driver from Canon site with no luck.

I can not print from Canon IR5050 after installing Maverick. I downloaded new driver from Canon with no luck.

I'm almost completely certain that the scanning feature worked before the update. Having said that though, I don't scan a great deal and it may be the case that when I have done, the printer was directly connected to the MBP. However, since I have a laptop it's far more logical that I would have had the printer connected to Airport Express for reasons of portability so I can't really see that I would have had the printer connected directly to the laptop. Besides this, I have no memory of having this problem previously. Therefore, I don't think my memory is to blame although of course, if it were I'd have no way of knowing!

  • Hp6500 can't scan from control panel with mavericks

I've not found any guidance that says this should not work when the full HP Inkjet software package is installed.  I've located, with some difficulty, the 'full' software distribution at HP-Inkjet-SW-OSX-Mavericks_v12.34.44.dmg.  I can find no general directory or listing for this software, I just found it through blind luck.  Is there such a listing of the latest full package?   I have 10.9.3 on an 8G Ram macbook pro.  I have completely removed the driver for my e709a Ethernet attached printer and reinstalled it, and then installed this full distribution as well.  When I run HP Utility, the 'all settings' button is greyed out, and I can see no way to enable the scan button on the printer's control panel.  Is this supposed to work?  if so, how?  If not, is it going to be fixed one day by HP, or do I just give this printer away and buy a different one?  If so, which HP officejet printers support scanning from the printer control panel?  thank you.

    Hi,
The drivers above are intended for the HP Officejet 6500A (E710) and not for your printer, therefore it cannot locate it.
Scanning from the front panel is not supported for your printer on Mavericks, scanning can only be done via Apple's software as a full feature software is not available for the operating system.
You may scan using Image Capture or Preview as listed below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03967506&tmp_task=useCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=e...
Newer models as the HP Officejet 6700, Officejet Pro 8610 as example, as well as any current HP Inkjet printer with a Full Feature Software for Mavericks will allow scannig from the front panel.

  • Strange behaviour while charging

My iPad 1is unusable while charging.
In iBooks, for instance, it will not change pages properly, either moving between pages randomly without user input, or refusing to change pages when directed.
In other apps, different forms of unusual behaviour occur, all seeming to be associated with random detection of user input when none is applied, or incorrect response to real user input.
It operates normally when off charge.
    Any advice, please.

Are you using the Apple supplied cable and power adapter or third party accessories? Are you charging by plugging the power adapter into a wall socket?
I would check the cable, the power adapter, change the wall socket - do the basic things first and try to narrow down the cause. It just be that your cable is bad - it could have a hairline crack that you cannot see - try another cable from an iPod or iPhone - do some experimentation.

  • Aperture crashes while importing from Canon Eos 5D

as from today aperture crashes while importing RAW pictures directly from my Canon eos 5D. did not have this problem before. after restarting aperture trys to recover the 4 or 5 imported pictures and then crashes again. As i'm on holyday and not having the original aperture DVD i can not reinstall aperture. Using iphoto is no problem, but importing the same pictures from iphoto into aperture results in crashing. anyone knows about this?

Before 10.5 came out, there were lots of rumors from fairly reliable websites about 10.4.11 imminent releases. In fact, plenty of us were hoping it would come out before 10.5, and with the expanded list of supported RAWs. But it's been over a week since 10.5, and there's no update from any of those rumor sites on 10.4.11. So, who knows...
I can definitely your frustration. But 10.5 is probably a worthwhile upgrade for most Mac users. Unless there's specific reasons (like there's a software you use that's known to be incompatible), you may want to upgrade now.
I am very happy with 10.5, and the the 40D RAW files look good on Aperture. No sRAW support though, which you may already know.

  • Can no longer play video from Canon PowerShot with QT Pro

Don't know what's changed. I have played these videos many times before. They were taken by my son who is active duty Navy overseas, so they are important to me. The "Movie Info" from QT says the format is: 8-bit Unsigned Integer, Mono, 11.024 kHz/MJPG, 320 x 240, Millions. QT "Movie Properties" list MVI_0025.mov, but the Audio Settings and Presentation choices are greyed out. The Video Trach is shown as MJPG as you would expect. I can't "save as" or "export" so re-encoding is out. I'm at a loss here. Why they played before and not now is beyond me. They were added to my Hard Drive via Iomega's Floppy plus 7-in-1 card reader. The actual video was taken with a Canon PowerShot A510 and recorded to a SanDisk 512MB SD Card which I copied to my hard drive through the card reader with no problems. My G4 runs great with no problems. These videos were added to two logins which both fail to play now. Sound is fine. Anyone have any ideas how this could have happened or what to do?

    QuickTimeKirk,
Fortunately I can boot to OS9.2. The problem is that the OS goes so far back in time that I'm not sure I could figure out where to install a codec that would work. And I'm afraid the bigger problem is, where would I download the right codec? (In OS9 that would be a QuickTime plug-in, right?) I tried Classic, using QuickTime 5.0.2. No good. I get the standard message "Some necessary QuickTime software is missing. It may be available on the QuickTime Web site." I guess when I saw MJPG I was really thinking MJPEG and couldn't se why it wouldn't work. I see now that these are very different codecs. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I did some digging and I believe the codec needed came with QuickTime 2.5. Also, if it makes any difference, I neglected to say that I use Flip4Mac WMV. I don't see how that would adversely effect a video file with a MJPG format but I thought I should mention it. Thanks for responding!

  • Strange behaviour of OS X Server DNS with IPv6 reverse zones

I am running a full IPv4 / IPv6 dual stack setup across several machiens including a server (OS X 10.9.1 / OS X Server 3.0.2). I also have IPv6 Internet access via TunnelBroker and have a /64 prefix assigned to me. All my systems have valid and correct IPv6 addresses (not temporary ones) from the range denoted by that prefix.
I have setup IPv4 and IPv6 addresses for all my systems in OS X Server DNS and that works fine. However, when I add an IPv6 address for a system, the DNS server (or maybe the server GUI) insists on creating a reverse zone for the /127 version of the address. This means I pretty much have a separate reverse zone for every system, which seems crazy to me. it is especially annoying as I have another DNS server where all my zones are defined as slave zoes (for availability reasons) and thsi makes the process of addign a new IPv6 host somewhat tedious. I tried pre-creating a properly named reverse zone for the /64 prefix but the DNS server would not use that and still persists in creating these strange zones.
    Here is a (fictitous example)...
    My /64 prefix is 2001:fd0:f19:2ab::/64
I have a system with an address of 2001:fd0:f19:2ab:7e6d:62ff:fe8a:a84c
I add this to OS X Server DNS and it created the reverse DNS zone:
    4.8.a.a.8.e.f.f.f.2.6.d.6.e.7.b.a.2.0.9.1.f.0.0.d.f.0.1.0.0.2.ip6.arpa
whereas I would expect it to instead add it to the zone
    b.a.2.0.9.1.f.0.0.d.f.0.1.0.0.2.ip6.arpa
    if that zone already exists.
Has anyone else noticed this? Or do you have it working as one might expect?

    Chris..
I, too, have the same problem.  I take issue with much of the OS X "Server" after it has been so completely dummed down that it is virtually useless for anyone that would actually like to utilize it as an actual, as the name implies, "SERVER."  I won't get into all of the details of everything that drives me crazy with Apple's decisions here but, suffice it to say, I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with Apple more than ever.  They should, at a minimum, offer a full-fledged server like they used to have, for an additional price, for people that need more than a nice looking interface and a worthless box.
That being said, the DNS server, like the rest of the OS X Mavericks Server, is dummed down to the point of allowing very little customization.  Short of using the command line, which I have decided to do (I scrapped the OS X server all together, and just set up BIND, openLDAP, DHCP, Quagga, etc. from the CLI just like I do with all of my Linux servers), there is not much you can do to get the correct prefixes to show up in IPv6 reverse zones.  The reason is that when you enter the forward record, the interface does not give an option to enter the prefix.  So, it seems that for EACH AND EVERY v6 entry (AAAA record) you have (or at least every 10 entries), you will get a separate reverse zone.
To be completely honest, I don't even know why they included IPv6 zones in this implementation because it is totally out of compliance with the RFCs and, obviously, will not provide proper and correct reverse lookups.  How could it? As you pointed out above, with a /64 prefix, you're getting a 31 digit long reverse zone (which, btw, is a /124)...***???  I've never heard of such a thing.  There should be 16 digits in a /64, 12 in a /48, 8 in /32 and so on.
I don't think it is anything to do with your using a tunnel broker -- all of our systems are native IPv6 and all reverse queries to the Mac Server fail.
I can tell you how to use the CLI to manually enter the zones with the serveradmin tool, if you like, but my advice is to just move to a full fledged BIND implementation .... and, if you want some type of interface other than the console, use something like Webmin which has a GREAT DNS zone interface...and it also keeps up with the RFC compliance.
Just message me back if you'd like the shell commands.  I hate to say this, it literally pains me, but I administer a ton of servers (physical and virtualized)... roughly 1000 +- to be exact...and WINDOWS Server has a DNS server that is so much further ahead and ADVANCED than Mac, it is disgusting.  In fact, we are running 12 Win Server 2012R2 Active Directory Domain Servers, each running synchronized DNS records and even with over 250,000 DNS records, it works like a champ.  Still, our primary and fail-safe DNS servers are all BIND v9.  Like I said, it is awful to say that about Mac, but dude, they need to wake up and either get back to the real-deal systems or just get out of the advanced product arena all together.  (one exception...my new MacPRO is AWESOME and the most advanced piece of computing equipment money can buy for the price...so kudos there)
Sorry about the rant, but when i read your post, I was reminded how frustrated I am at all of this nonsense.
    Take care...and good luck.

  • How do I print to and scan from Canon MG5220

    I own a Mac mid-2011, an iPad2 and just ordered 2 iPhone4's.  I have a Canon Pixma MG5220.
I want to print from all devices and scan to the Mac an possibly the iPad2.
Will the Airport Express or Airport Extreme allow both printing and scanning?

If the printer is a multi function device and you plan on connecting it to the either the AE or AEX via USB then no it will not scan to the iMac. However if the printer is a true wi-fi device then sure you can scan if it's connected either via Ethernet or Wi-Fi to the iMac. As far as scanning directly to the iPad no I don't believe it has the ability. However there is an easy work around, Dropbox. Create a Dropbox account and have both the iMac and iPad connect to it. Then when you scan scan to where the iMac has the Dropbox account and it will simultaneously scan to the iPad too. As far as printing from the iPad and iPhone 4's you should search for an app. As far as I know there isn't one but I'm not very knowledgeable about IOS either. If you had purchased one of HP printers that supports IOS then printing from IOS would be pretty easy.

  • Lightroom (4.3) won't recognize the file type while importing from Canon 5d Mark iii

Anyone mind helping me trouble shoot why my Lightroom (4.3) won't recognize the file type of my Canon 5D Mark iii ?
I have seen this in a couple other threads but none of those suggestions worked for me. I am also a Mac user.

    The above contradicts with this:

So my reading of that is that you ARE importing Raw files from the 5D3 into Lightroom, but having to use a roundabout route to do so. Is that correct? If so, how are you trying to import when you "cannot import raw files into Lightroom", are you using a card reader or direct camera attachment? Have you tried both methods? And what happens when you do try?

  • IPhoto '11 not responding when importing from Canon S90 with videos

    Hi,
I have a recurring problem attempting to import photos/videos with iPhoto '11.  If the memory card only has images, they import properly when using my card reader, but if there are also videos taken with my Canon S90, then the import hangs. Even if I force quit, iPhoto will continue to hang until the computer is rebooted. I also use a Nikon D200 and have never had any issues importing, though that camera does not take video.
Oddly, if I first copy my memory card to my desktop and then import from there (rather than using the card reader) then it will import.
    Any suggestions?

How big are the files? Iphoto has alwys baulked at importing large videos from the Card directly.
