Box around flash files in explorer
I am doing a site with flash buttons and every tim i go to a
new page and roll over the buttons section a bounding box comes up
around everything that is flash. When you roll over it, it tells
you to click to activate this control.
it works fine in mozilla but not in explorer. I havent had
this problem until recently and i am wondering is it a new version
of explorer that is doing this and i need to change some browser
settings or something.
Here is the link to the test site.

ThanksHi Mike,
Sorry, but that link won't work.
Here is the text of the post:
At my company I create LMS enabled lessons to help clinicians
learn to use patient tracking software. We recently encountered a
small problem that might be encountered by others who use this
forum. I thought I’d post my experience.
The issue began when my company began upgrading computer
terminals with the latest version of Windows XP. The symptoms of
the problem occurred when a web page containing any active content,
such as Flash, QuickTime, etc., displayed via the latest version of
Internet Explorer.
Here is the sequence of events:
After a page containing active content loaded, the user would
hover a mouse over the (active) content. At that time two curious
things would occur; a gray “bounding box” would appear
around the borders of the active content, and a small message box
would appear saying “Click to activate and use this
control.”. The user would have to click the active content
(to make the message and bounding box disappear). After the message
and bounding box disappeared the active content would function as
intended.
For me this meant that HTML files where I had Flash embedded
(generated from a Captivate file) would require an initial mouse
click to activate the (Flash) control. (I had many short Flash/HTML
files strung together for form a single lesson. I did this to track
the users progress through the LMS.) Each time a HTML page with
active content loaded the user would have to repeat the mouse
click. This was not a good thing for my lessons.
After doing a little research I found a Macromedia/Adobe
article that explained what was causing this new quirk and how to
work around the problem.
Here is a link to that article:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/activecontent/articles/devletter.html
I thought this might be helpful for any folks encountering
the same problem.

On my flash movies when I post them to the web, there is a
box around the movie and then it says "Click to Activate and Use
the Control". Why is it doing this and how can I get it to
stop?my 1st reaction is that these posts are just a funny
joke - since about every 8th post is on this
exact topic nowadays
My newsreader is actually downloading them as the same thread
because they share the same subject
line - usually that happens with subects like "HELP!" or
"URGENT!" lol

White boxes around PDF files imported to Indesign
I'm trying to create a portfolio of Ads that I've done in the past. I exported them as a PDF and then importing them back into InDesign to fit in a certain picture frame. The problem is that when I import them back to InDesign and then export them as PDF again, some of the original imported images (in the ad) have like a white low opacity box around them. Some of them also have a white strip over the entire ad. These are not visible on screen in InDesign, or on PDF. They're only showing on the final product after print.
I have to point out that all of these ads were printed before and they were just fine. Does this problem sound familiar in InDesign? Is there a solution?BTW, don't use OSX's preview to look at PDFs created by InDesign if they take advantage of high end features such as live transparency.
Preview simply isn't up to the task and you should be using Acrobat or Reader.

Here's my problem. I have a box appear around my Flash in
internet explorer, I know about the lawsuit between Microsoft and
Active X, and understand why it is there, and can even get rid of
it with a javascipt file. My problem is that whenever I get rid of
the box, I also get rid of my dhtml. Here is the page:
http://d14684333.r200.radiowebworks.com/info_farm.htm.
As you can see, my dhtml menu goes "OVER" the flash, but
because of that box, no links can be clicked until you click on the
flash. I am pulling my hair out here! How can I get rid of that box
and not get rid of my DHTML script? Please don't send me to the
Microsoft site because I read their info there and was totally
lost! Please advise. I am at my wits end! Also, by the way, I am
using Dreamweaver MX 2004. Thanks for all the help guys, I
appreciate it greatly!http://blog.deconcept.com/2005/03/31/proper-flash-embedding-flashobject-best-practices

All the flash work I've designed, when I open up a site where
the element is, a box is around the flash....what is this box? If I
click on the box, it disappears. If i put my mouse over the flash,
that box appears around the flash. Is there a way I can fix this is
or is it a setting n my browser and/or flash player? Here is an
example:

Place your mouse over the header, and you'll see what I mean.
Thanks, Guys and Gals!

There seems to be a lot of extra stuff in there that would
make it not be
valid javascript. It hsould just be a plain text file.

Remove box around flash when rollover
Does anyone know how to remove the white box inside a browser
(in my case Internet Explorer) that appears around a flash area
when your mouse rolls over into the flash area? What I've noticed
is that on some websites this actually does not happen and on other
websites it does. Is it something I can control as a flash
designer? In other words, is there a setting or something that
turns off this white box area from showing up on a mouse roll over?
Any tips or help would be appreciated.
Thank you very much,
TonyThis is why:

Box around curser, dock and desktop
I have a strange box around my curser, dock and anything on the desktop. Any help is appreciated.
Try starting in
Single-User-Mode(Hold the cmd()+S when you hear the tone and release when you see the Apple logo) this will give you a black screen with text (command-line) wait till it finishes booting up and you have a command prompt(localhost:/root#) then type in (/sbin/fsck -fy) this verifies and repairs your startup drive. If it finishes and reports the hard drive has been modified---repeat the command-line entry as above.
Do that until it report the hard drive is OK. then type in (reboot).
If that doesn't work, you might want to reset the <a href=http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238>PRAM</a> -

When I export my file to generate a .pdf, the text box literally has a box around it! How do I make that line disappear?
Sounds like you have a stroke on it. Select the frame and set the stroke to none.

White box around image in my transparent .swf file
I created a .swf file for a header of a website using a logo that tweens in. I tested the .swf with the transparent properties and it works but the logo I imported from photoshop has a white box around it, how can I remove this? Do I need to import a transparent .png file instead of a .jpg?
Thanks!.png's are lossless vector graphics, so it's probably best bet if your going to do other things with the logo. .jpg's are not fond of resizing. You can also break the image apart and use the lasso tool and magic wand the background away.

Boxes Around My Download Vector Files
When I originally downloaded this icon set, they opened normally, weren't legacy. However, now when I open the original icon files they are composed of boxes.
Let me try and explain- normally, you creat an amorphous vector shape with the pen tool and fill it in with a gradient right?
Now it is showing up as if each object is a square of gradient with a clipping mask around it- except it isn't actually a clipping mask and the actual boundaries of each object are square rather than the visible shape.
If I select the square using the white cursor, it deletes the fill. On a small amount of them, it will allow the option to remove a clipping mask- if I select "remove clipping mask" it becomes one big mess of squares. Most of them don't even have this option.
This is a big issue because I often deeply edit these files and am hindered by these boxes. Also, when I transfer them into InDesign, the transparancy is lost and the transparent parts of the boxes are turned white. A big issue!
Icons that I previously used and put in different ai files that I had created are still functioning normally, don't show the boxes, but seem to also have the problem of white instead of transparent in InDesign
None of the files I create have this issue, only these downloaded ones.
I have reset all my illustrator preferences and it didn't change anything.
Here is an example. One is an icon I had saved on a previous project, the other is straight out of the original file:
How do I get rid of these boxes?? What are they??I didn't save them in any sort of format, this is how they came to me and, without editting the files, have begun to react differently when opened.
I think that does mean there's no way to "fix" a file that's been "squared"
Ok, so second part of the question, anyone know why all of my vector icons (even the non-expanded ones) are creating white boxes around themselves in InDesign? I have tried placing them and pasting them in every way possible. I'd just delete the white, but that destroys the shadows and effects as well.
