Strange boxes instead of type in dialogue boxes...

I don't know what changed, but recently, when OS X asks me for my admin password, I get a regular dialogue box, but all the type is in some strange font. Instead of letters, everything is the same black outlined box with an "A" in it. It looks like the same problem I have with Chrome but I can't seem to find what's wrong. More than likely it's a font problem, but how do I fix it?

That didn't seem to do it after all and now there's another creep of this font problem acting up (I have an image from my dropbox):

The thing is that I haven't overwritten any system fonts, and I don't think that anything is conflicting, but I don't know how to tell.
I've purged all the font caches, reimported my fonts, done the safe boot -reboot, and even did applejack, but it just doesn't seem to go away.
Now that I think about it, this has happened in the past a few times, and I almost always wipe and reinstall the OS.
I just wish there was something that could take a look and tell me where there are problems like Norton used to so that I'm not using my billable hours trying to fix this.

Restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup chime to boot into Safe Mode. Keep holding the Shift key until you see a progress bar towards the bottom of the screen. You can let go of the Shift key at that point.
OS X asks you to log in (you will get this screen on a Safe Mode boot even if your Mac is set to automatically log in). Let the Mac finish booting to the desktop and then restart normally. This will clear Font Book's database and the cache files of the user account you logged into in Safe Mode.
Next, close all running applications. From an administrator account, open the Terminal app and enter the following command. You can also copy/paste it from here into the Terminal window:
sudo atsutil databases -remove
Terminal will then ask for your admin password. As you type, it will not show anything, so be sure to enter it correctly.
This removes all font cache files. Both for the system and the current user font cache files. After running the command, close Terminal and immediately restart your Mac.

A strange box opens when launching application. It causes Firefox to freeze in place

When launching the most recent version of Firefox a strange box appears at the top that effectively keeps me from using the browser. Also, I can't seem to add an image to this request.

Strange Box Around Flash File IN PC I.E.

I have a strange box that appears around my flash file when
viewed using PC Internet Explorer 6.2. Thhe box appears when the
page loads and does not go away until you click on the flash, once
you do that you can access the buttons and the box goes away.
Baffled.....please help.

a PC using internet explorer. You have to click on the file before
you can access the buttons. Using I.E. 6.2.
I am baffled. Please help.

Strange Box's And Wanting To Reset Keys

Hello,
Im having an little problem with strange box's appealing where my curser is.
It happens on all applications, Safari, Mail, Messenger ect.
If I also go to scroll the page down the box follows it and messes up the screen.

Also how do I do this? Im trying to reset my keyboard shortcuts because they seem to of changed...
Im on >System Preferences >KeyBoard And Mouse >KeyBoard Shortcuts and then clicking "Restore Defaults" but its not restoring the original keys, Like F10, F11, F12 alter sound...
Can anyone help on either/both of those questions?

Im having an little problem with strange box's appealing where my curser is.
Maybe VoiceOver is on ("Seeing" tab of "Universal Access" system preference). Try Command-F5
If that doesn't work, click "Options" in the "Zoom" section of the "Seeing" tab of "Universal Access" system preference and make sure "Show preview rectangle" is unchecked.

I was promised not to bother about typography and html coding but get strange htmlcodes instead of ñ

I tried to plug in in another conversation about my problem with Muse and strange htmlcodes instead of special types. (such as ñ, •, '', etc)
I tried different ways to upload the website to my server.
I asked my provider, but as he said: your other websites looked fine, it aint us
I have no clue how to handle it with html programation, as for this reason I bought, legally, paid and all, Muse CC.
Now I have to upload my website to the server of the cliënt, since it all looked fine on the preview site of Adobe, and now it looks awfull.
I do not get any new reactions on the thread I plugged in, so I made a new one because I am really desperate.
Please, what do I do?
I have uploaded with FireFTP, Fedge, directly from the muse page

I was told to put this in the header
<META HTTP-EQUIV="content-type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1">
so I openend the file in dreamweaver, to put it on top of the page
it did change the bullet into something else, but stil not a bullet.
Is there maybe another code I should paste in top of the header? although I think its pretty weird havingto do so..

Why do I see a boxed "A's" instead of type on some websites?

I've had my iMac about a month. A couple of weeks ago I began to see rows and rows of small outlined boxes filled with a capital A, in place of where there should be type. I did a Safe Boot, things returned to normal. But as soon as I restarted the following morninign, the boxes were back. How can I get things back to normal?

Do you have two font managers on there?
Like something other than Font Book, an app that came with your Mac?
Also, did you add any free fonts to your Mac?

Strange box appears

Wherever I put my cursor in any DW page, design, split, or code presentation, a strange little box appears near the cursor and only goes away when I click the cursor in another place on the page and this it reappears within about 2 seconds.
I had trouble taking a screen shot of it. This was the best I could get because it quickly disappears when you setup for the screenshot.
This drives me just slightly batty. Has any one seen this before? It started about a month ago, but I'm finally really tired of it and want to banish it!

It's the Code Navigator. If you click it, you'll get a list that allows you to inspect, and navigate to the CSS of the current location within your page.
Open it, and you'll see the checkbox at the bottom right that lets you disable it.
Once disabled, the icon won't show up again, but you can activate the Code navigator in Windows by holding down Alt and clicking. On a Mac, hold down Opt + Cmd and click.

Strange Box Onscreen. Any Advice?

Alright, I have the white macbook. I noticed today that this strange black box is now present on my desktop. It always highlights the last folder that I clicked, and when I'm using any other app, it's always present. I can't figure out what it is, or where it's from. Has anyone else had this problem before? My Iphone 4 has locked me out. Homescreen will show up but cannot get slider to open keypad. SOmetimes if I tap enough things the key pad will display. When I enter the passcode it will not register. If I hit each passcode number twice it will register but then tells me I have the wrong code. I also have boxes and rectangles that appear to highlight items which never used to come up. Anyone have any experience with something like this?

Strange box on my images in Photoshop

Hi I'm getting this box appearing in Photoshop when working on my images.
Does anyone know what would cause this?

Strange box appearing, also my apple option shows twice what it should

A few days ago, my computer froze because of a game I was playing. Once I restarted it, a box appeared. What it is is a black outline of the last thing I selected. At the moment, it's under my OS thing, because I just set it to Mac OS X (10.4.5).
Is there any way to get rid of it?
Also, under the apple option up top, i have two options for restart, shutdown, and logout. it looks like this:
Sleep
Restart...
Restart
Shut Down...
Shut Down
Log Out Esteban Selaya...
Log Out Esteban Selaya
I think the two problems may be connected, possibly my computer is in safe mode or something like that? I'd really would like to fix this if at all possible.

You have accidentally enabled VoiceOver.
• The black rectangle appearing around interface objects such as buttons, fields, and others is known as the VoiceOver Cursor.
• VoiceOver also duplicates certain items in the Apple menu: see "Mac OS X 10.4: Some Apple menu items appear twice."
If you do not need VoiceOver, turn it off in the System Preferences > Universal Access > Seeing tab.

Strange code instead of text

Hi everyone,
My Mac recently had to be restored from Time machine after failing to boot and saying it had errors in the disk utility mode.
Time machine restoration seems to have all worked fine with one exception:
Whenever one of the little boxes that normally asks you a question and requires you to click on a button to make a choice - instead of the text asking the question (such as 'Do you want to replace files' etc - it now just has some weird codes such as 'PW32' 'CP4' 'PW3' below:
The top of the finder window also looks like this, with codes starting 'TL' shown below.
Any ideas if I can fix this?

Restart the computer in safe mode. Certain caches maintained by the system will be rebuilt.
Safe mode is much slower to start up than normal.
When the login screen appears, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and test. There's no need to log in while in safe mode.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode. In that case, ask for instructions.
If there's no improvement, see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance. You can skip this step if you don't care about the data that hasn't been backed up.
Reinstall the OS.* Your data should be unaffected unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

Firefox 4 Beta has problem when printing shipping pages from Amazon Marketplace, it shows and prints strange symbols instead of the packing slip and the label. Do you have any idea why is that?

Well, I installed it 2 days ago and yesterday when I tried to print a packing slip and a label for Amazon customers it printed so many strange symbols that were nothing like what they are supposed to be, not even close. When I printed it with another browser it was all fine, so it is obviously a problem of the new version of my favorite browser. Probably something with the encoding, but since I'm not a computer geek, I cannot give more info. :(
