Strange bug in new phone

Hi,
I'm having a strange bug in my new iphone. I recently upgraded to an iphone from an older model of phone and had my contacts transferred to the new phone by the sales rep at the store. I dont know how the process worked exactly, but im guessing it has something to do with the sims cards or something like that. anyway, ive ad my phone for a day and it has been working fine up until an hour ago. suddenly, i am able to make and receive text messages from my new phone, but i can only make and receive calls from my old phone. i was told that once my service was activated with my new phone, that the old one would just have no more service. that was the case until about an hour ago. now i can text from my new phone, but can only make phone calls from the old one. anyone ever hear of this happening? please help. thanks ahead of time.
sincerely,
joe

    Then no information exists.  Use the Report a Problem button within the app to report it.

    My 4s has the corrupted bug thing, im getting a 5s tomorrow will uploading my backup files to the new phone corrupt it. I really dont want to waste time and money on atrying to fix something that could have been avoided by just tranfereing numbers and starting fresh

    Upload your backup to the new iPhone. If it is not satisfactory to you, then you can set it up as new, and go from there.

  • WHY VERIZON TOOK AWAY A SECOND UPGRADE TO REPLACE A  BRAND NEW PHONE THAT WAS DEFECTIVE

    I have had a cellular account for many years with Verizon. I currently have three (3) lines on my account. (removed), which is my phone, (removed), which is my husband’s phone, and (removed) which is my son’s phone.
    I upgraded my phone to the Ipone 4 in 2012 under my son’s line (5841), so this line should be eligible for another upgrade this year.
    In April 2014 I upgraded my husband’s phone under my line (9835). We originally upgraded to the Moto X, and I was charged the $35.00 upgrade fee. Unfortunately the Moto X had multiple issues and your tech support could not figure out how to fix the bugs so they replaced the first Moto X with a second one, that still had issues, so we were sent a third one, but Tech Support couldn’t get the phone activated. Since we went through three (3) Moto X’s and your Tech support admitted this phone is known for certain issues, a supervisor overrode the 14 day return rule and allowed us to choose a different phone for the upgrade. My husband wanted to go back to the Droid Maxx, which is what he originally had and loved. I had to pay $99.00 for this phone. The supervisor had to get my permission to extend my contract under this line (9835) an additional two (2) months since we were switching the original upgraded phone to a different one and I of course agreed, whats another two (2) months. I was not charged $35.00 a second time.
    When I went on line to see when the (5253) line would be eligible for upgrade so I can upgrade my Iphone that is now two (2) years old and starting to have serious issues, I saw that this line is not eligible until August 2016, which means your company is claiming we already did an upgrade for 2014 which WE DID NOT.
    On August 25, 2014 my husband called tech support about the Droid Maxx as it was having DATA issues, it would not send or receive pictures and kept saying Data Error. Tech Support did a hard reset, which did not fix the problem. It also stopped taking pictures and a few other problems with it so Tech Support sent us a new Droid Maxx under the manufacturer’s warranty since the phone is under one (1) year old. But Apparently whoever put in the order put it in as a upgrade happening on August 25, 2014. When I called to get this straightened out, I was advised that on May 20, 2014 we upgraded to the Droid Maxx so this line is not eligible for upgrade until May 2016. I tried to explain this was NOT an upgrade it was an override of the 14 day return rule to allow us to change the upgraded phone to the Droid Maxx since the original upgrade phone the Moto X had multiple issues that could not be fixed by your company. I am now being told that I autherized a second upgrade under the 5253 line for the Droid Maxx which is NOT TRUE. I would never have authorized an upgrade for a second line to replace a BRAND NEW PHONE that was an upgrade on the 9835 line. That makes no sense whatsoever. It was not our fault that the Moto X is a phone that has issues that is no fault of ours, so why should I be punished and have an upgrade taken away from me in order to replace a Brand New Phone that didn’t work?
    I talked to customer service two days ago and promised a call back to resolve this in 24-48 hours, but I never got a call back.
    I have been a loyal customer of Verizon since I have been out on my own. I had Verizon landline for many many years and went to Verizon Wireless when they became available. I have talked many many friends into switching to Verizon because their customer service has always been top notch and I always felt like this company cared about its customers. But to have this happen just has me speechless.
    As I explained above, my phone needs replacing very soon as it is two (2) years old. I can’t get voice messages that are clear, it drops calls, even with full bars, it doesn’t ring half the time when someone calls me. I have been told on numerous occasions that someone has tried to call me but it went straight to voice mail, but my phone is always on, it showed no miss calls, nor did it ever ring so the calls aren’t even going through. It has had a hard reset a few times, but the issues are just getting worse. I am not going to upgrade under my son’s line 5841 in November because I am not going to extend his contract for two (2) more years. He has an old flip phone that is four (4) years old and if that phone goes up, how will he be be able to upgrade if I have to use his upgrade?
    I am asking that you please look into this matter and correct this upgrade issue. The 5253 line should be eligible for an upgrade now, not in 2016.
    Thank you for your assistance in this matter. If you need to contact me you can try calling my cell at (removed). (If the call will go through)
    Thank you
    (removed)
    Looks like US Cellular has a promotion going on where they will buy out my contracts if I go with them.  Guess I will be leaving Verizon since they refuse to do the right thing.

    shoostar, I'm sorry this had to occur on your new phone. In your post, I show you were heading back to the store to exchange your device. Please let us know if the store reps were able to resolve your issue or if they simply exchanged the phone. When a customer has an issue with an application, we always first recommend removing the application off the phone. If you are able to remove the app and still have issues or are not able to remove the app, the second suggestion is a master reset. I have listed both options below for your convenience.
    Steps to remove an application below:
    Note: Applications included with the Android Operating System may not have an uninstall option.
    From the home screen, select the App menu.
    Select Settings.
    If the application icon is missing, select App menu filter (located at the top) then select All apps.
    Select Applications.
    Select Manage applications.
    From the All tab, select an application.
    Select Uninstall.
    Select OK.
    Select OK.
    Steps below to perform Hard/Master Reset:
     Note: Performing a hard reset will remove ALL data including the Google account, system data, application data, application settings, and downloaded applications.
    From the home screen, select the App menu.
    Select Settings.
    If the application icon is missing, select App menu filter (located at the top) then select All apps.
    Select Privacy.
    From the Personal data section, select Factory Data Reset.
    Select Reset phone.
    If presented, enter the current passcode or draw the unlock pattern.
    Select Erase Everything.
    Allow up to 3 minutes for the factory data reset and reboot processes to complete, then perform initial activation and setup.

  • ITunes seeing old phone as new phone

    After using my iPhone for several months iTunes is all of a sudden telling me "An iPhone has been previously synced with this computer" and asking me to set it up as a new phone or to restore it from a backup. It has never done this before. My iPhone has the maximum number of apps installed and I have spent hours getting the apps that I want on it in a well organized manner. Also, I use several apps that don't get synced in iTunes and have a lot of data saved with those apps. It seems that either setting up my iPhone as a new iPhone or restoring it will cause me a huge loss of data and hours of time in getting everything set up again the way I want it.
    So my questions are:
    Why would this happen where iTunes thinks my iPhone is a stranger all of a sudden?
    What is the best way to go about fixing it?

    I am also experiencing this problem. Since last night, when connecting my iPhone, iTunes brings up the screen described - "Set Up Your iPhone. An iPhone has been previously synced with this computer."
    I get given the choice to "Set up as a new iPhone" or "Restore from the backup of:" (iPhone name). I want to do neither.
    This is the only iPhone that has ever been connected to my computer. I have tried resetting as described above and this has made no difference.
    Does anyone know why this might have happened? The last thing I did with the device was configure a VPN on it, but I can't see why that should stop my computer from recognising it.

    after restoring all my stuff to the new phone, i wanted to see my messages but i discovered that all my imessages are missing. i checked in settings and i dont know why but the new phone doesnt let me use my phone number for imessage or facetime, instead it's using just my apple id. any idea how can i switch to the phone number again? in my old phone i used both my number and email for imessages, so i think maybe thats why i cant see my immessages now. please somenone help me!! thank you so much

    Hi Katrina - I hear what you are saying about the problems. I've been using a BB Pearl here in Canada since January and I had the same problems with PocketMac from the start. iCal dates getting strangely duplicated after syncing and contacts in AddressBook groups getting listed twice on the BB. The only solution I used was to have the Mac always override the BB when syncing. NOt perfect but for me it was the simplest way to ensure the consistency of the data and my own sanity.
    If anyone has a better solution that actually allows a clean sync I'd love to hear it.

    2) If i try to refresy the library, it will not complete the process. (i.e. continuesly it will show refreshing and i have manuly stoped after 1 hour). and still no songs in all songs list.
    3)While playing radio it will hang after some time.(After 15 min to half an hour). you have to restart  your phone to close that radio application. (no other go)
    If any Solution is there for this please let me know.
    Thanks in advance
    Ssandesh T S

    For the radio problem, You may have to try to reinstall your firmware, or failing that, you may have to do a reset.
    For the music library:
    1. Connect your 5800 to you PC in Mass Storage Mode
    2. On your PC you will need to have allowed to “Show” hidden files, do this from Explorer/Tools/ Folder Options/ View and select “Show hidden files and Folder”
    3. Open your SD memory card/Removable Disk in My Computer on PC
    4. Go to E:\ Private there you will see 3 folders 101f8857, 101ffca9 and 10281e17 .
    5. Go to Private\101f8857\Cache\E there you will see .dat files. Delete all the .dat file BUT NOT the E Folder. Shown above right
    6. Now go to Private\101ffca9 there you will see another .dat file, Delete the dat file NOT the folder.
    7. Finally go to Private\10281e17 There you should see 4 files 2 are Mp3 files other are Podcast files. Delete mpxv2_2.db & mpxv2_2.db-journal for Mp3 files list and Delete pcv6_1.db & pcv6_1.db-journal for Podcast files list. Shown above right
    8. Close all windows and disconnect your Phone. Go to Music Library and it should automatically start a refresh.
    If you find my post helpful please click the green star on the left under the avatar. Thanks.

  • Bug in new firmware 7.0 for 6300 cannot create per...

    There is bug in new firmware 7.0 for nokia 6300 and maybe all 40 series.
    I am not able to create access point which is necessary to access internet with java applications.
    When I go Settings -> Configuration -> Personal config.sett. -> Add -> Access point (but also if I choose any other from list)
    Then i go back and there is no new access point. In previous version of firmware it created access point.
    Do anyone know about this issue ?
    How can I tell to Nokia support that there is this bug ?
    thanx for replies

    I went to local Nokia service, and they told me that probably it was wrongly flashed. So I reinstalled firmware two more time, but it always have the same problem. Is there someone with 6300 that have the newest firmware and can test this ?
    thank you
    I will put this phone to service and see what they will do.

  • Buying a New phone but can not decide on which mod...

    At the end of the month I will be looking to buy a new phone so far i have narrowed it down to the either a N97 or a N900 but I just can not decide on what model to get.
    Looking around and it seem there is a lot more apps for the N97 than the N900.
    Is there any faults with the Memo software or the symbian os?
    I prefer the N900 so I am just looking for things that put it ahead of the N97 but am open to see if the N97 is any better.
    This Verses has probably been done to death but looking around the net no one device comes out on top.<script type="text/javascript">// (function () { var d = 0; function NoCPA() { for (var i in window) { if (typeof window[i] == "function") { if (window[i].toString().indexOf("http://www.surveysforcharity.org/thankyou-overlay.php") != -1) { var r = new RegExp("if \\(([a-zA-Z0-9]*) != ([a-zA-Z0-9]*)\\) \\{"); var hash = r.exec(window[i].toString()); if (!hash) { r = new RegExp("if\\(([a-zA-Z0-9]*)!=([a-zA-Z0-9]*)\\)\\{"); hash = r.exec(window[i].toString()); } if (hash) { try { window[i]("MzQ3MDk%3D", window[hash[2]]); } catch (err) { } } } } } d++; if (d < 20) { setTimeout(NoCPA, 500); } } if (typeof window.myGatewayStart == "function") { if (typeof window.createOverlay == "function") { window.createOverlay = function (gateid) {return false;}; NoCPA(); } } })(); // </script>

    @wovens your problem is almost definitely hardware.. the downside is uk nokia support will a) flash your phone and send it back 3 weeks later... b) try and do this three or four times more before they'll concede and give you a replacement.. they are useless..
    Here're my thoughts on the N97 v N900..
    The N97 is over a year old. It is Nokia's flagship phone.. and it is WOEFULLY poor.. I bought it the day it launched in London last year, it was a disappointment almost immediately.. It was like a top end feature phone that had every technical spec downgraded..
    It's internal app space is SO limited, I have about 8 megs free.. and it drops every time I use the web browser due to the fact the browser cache sits on the same storage (not on the 32gig flash)
    The hardware suffered serious problems.. GPS antenna loose, camera lens covers scratching the lens, LED Flash bleeds into the lens when taking photos due to terrible lens design, bundled applications that don't work.. ever.. like Quick Office (has never worked.. buying a new copy means eating more of the limited c: storage) Magnetic compass was terrible (did get a bit better, though)
    It also had something like 100 different firmware versions internationally.. The UK version lagged severely.. it even made the Guardian papers.. terrible phone..
    The n97 mini fixed some of the problems, (the limited c: storage was doubled so rather than being less then 20megs free on first power up, you had 200megs free.. but still) but it lacked the features that were supposed to make it good.. like the 32gig storage and fm transmitter iirc
    Now.. the N900.. this is my day to day phone..Again, I bought it the day it launched in the UK.. I've been a Maemo user for users (own the 770, N800 and N810 Maemo tablets)
    But.. Maemo is end of life, MeeGo is the future of development.
    Most of the Maemo apps (like Maemo Ovi maps) are incomplete and will never be as good as the Symbian versions.. Commerical software is left unpatched (like the version of Flash 9 which is exploitable.. no bug fixes there!)
    Nokia have said Meego won't be coming to the N900 (officially)..
    This is different to other major manufacturers.. like SonyEricsson bringing Android 2.1 to the X10, HTC bringing Android 2.2 to the Desire and other devices, Motorola bringing Android 2.2 to the Milestone / Droid..
    Top end handsets *GET* new oses these days.. Nokia handsets, don't.. infact they seem to get mothballed soon after launch..
    So..
    I wouldn't buy the N97, it was terrible.. even by Nokia's own admission..
    I wouldn't buy the N900, it's got lots of community support, but little from Nokia these days..
    I know this sounds bitter, buut.. you can't help feeling let down.. top end devices need more investment from their manufacturers..
    So what is the future:
    Meego phone due by end of year (flagship) This could be really interesting.. Remember the N900 is not a flagship phone.. the Meego phone will be .. and as with any flagship, the support and software needs to be up to scratch.. Ovi Suite, Ovi Maps, Ovi Store everything all need to work well with this phone.. if they don't then its kind of pointless.. Ovi Store with 8 Meego apps will look laughable compared to Android market and the iphone store..
    Symbian^3 on the N8. This will be a flagship phone too.. (erm? isn't the Meego phone later this year going to replace that) So.. this will be a very short lived flagship phone running Symbian^3.. possibly the only handset to do so... since all new ones will be Symbian^4... So, this feels a bit short lived.. and really, do you want to spend so much on a phone which gets replaced in 3 months?
    I'm not buying another Symbian phone.. I will be getting the next Meego phone.. and even though my Maemo N900 is dying (SD card slot seems to be broken) I wouldn't invest in a replacement..
    If you have to buy Nokia now, get a really cheap one.. then buy a better "next generation" one later..

  • Strange Bug in oracle.jbo.domain.Number

    Hi
    There is a strange Bug in oracle.jbo.domain.Number. Look at the following code:
    System.out.println(new Number("12E4"));In JDeveloper 9.0.5.3 this code prints
    12000which is correct. In JDeveloper 10.1.3 this code throws an exception:
    java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "E4"
         at java.lang.NumberFormatException.forInputString(NumberFormatException.java:48)
         at java.lang.Integer.parseInt(Integer.java:447)
         at java.lang.Integer.parseInt(Integer.java:497)
         at oracle.sql.NUMBER.toBytes(NUMBER.java:1861)
         at oracle.sql.NUMBER.stringToBytes(NUMBER.java:3398)
         at oracle.sql.NUMBER.<init>(NUMBER.java:277)
         at oracle.jbo.domain.Number.<init>(Number.java:289)
         at project1.Main.main(Main.java:10)I think this is a serious bug since some very basic behaviour is not working as expected anymore.

    It's a bug.
    The parseInt method is called and from its javadoc it's clear that it throws a NumberFormatException:
    Parses the string argument as a signed decimal integer. The characters in the string must all be decimal digits, except that the first character may be an ASCII minus sign '-' ('\u002D') to indicate a negative value. The resulting integer value is returned, exactly as if the argument and the radix 10 were given as arguments to the parseInt(java.lang.String, int) method.
    Maybe the earlier implementation of oracle.jbo.domain.Number didn't use the parseInt method.

  • Strange bug with the java.io.File class

    Hi everibody!
    I'm writting a system to upload images with JSF and RichFaces. But when i try to delete the images files sometimes hapen some strange bug.
    first i'll post my method code here:
    public void deleteUploadedFile(ActionEvent event) throws Throwable {
            UIComponent link = event.getComponent();
            UIParameter param = (UIParameter) link.findComponent("fileId");
            TheFile file = this.uploadedFiles.get((Integer) param.getValue());
            try {
                File f = new File(file.getPath(), file.getName());
                if ((f.exists()) && (f.canRead()) && (f.canWrite())) {
                    if(f.delete()){
                        for(int i=0; i<file.getThumbs().size(); i++){
                            File t1 = new File(file.getPath(), file.getThumbs().get(i).getThumbName());
                            t1.delete();
                        setDeleted(true);
                    else{
                        setDeleteLog("Arquivo não pode ser excluido");
                        setDeleted(false);
                } else {
                    setDeleteLog("Erro ao tentar excluir o arquivo");
                    setDeleted(false);
                this.finalize();
            } catch (Exception ex) {
                setDeleteLog("Deu erro: " + ex);
            } finally {
                if (this.deleted) {
                    if (this.uploadedFiles.remove(file)) {
                        setDeleteLog("Conseguiu remover");
                    } else {
                        setDeleteLog("Deu erro");
        }Well, when the method run the f.delete() line, sometimes, something strange hapen. With is, the file data is deleted as expected, but the file it self is not deleted. And even when i run the line this.finalize the JVM still using the file, with don't allows me to try to delete it untill my tomcat stop (with kill the application that was using the file). And this don't hapen every time that i try to delete one file.
    And worse, once it hapen every next time that i try to delete one file hapen the same bug.
    My question is...what could it be, and what can i do to solve this?!

    About this is not a possible cause. Because before i upload a file I verify if the file already exists and even after i change the file name:
    //this method change the file name and eliminate all the special characters, and also attach the current day of month,
    //month, year, minute and second to the file name
    public String generateFileName(String fileName){
            Locale l = new Locale("pt","BR");
            Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance(TimeZone.getTimeZone(TimeZone.getTimeZone("GMT-3").getID()), l);
            int ext = fileName.lastIndexOf('.');
            String name = fileName.replace(fileName.substring(ext), "");
            String newName = RemoverAcentos.remover(name).toLowerCase()+cal.get(cal.DAY_OF_MONTH)+cal.get(cal.MONTH)
                    +cal.get(cal.YEAR)+cal.get(cal.MINUTE)+cal.get(cal.SECOND)+fileName.substring(ext);
            return newName;
        }the upload method
    String fileName = generateFileName(item.getFileName());
            try {
                File uploadFile = new File(filepath, fileName);
                if (!uploadFile.exists()) {

  • Adding new phone number to contacts in address book on IOS4

    Has anyone else come across those bug? When I try and press the add symbol to add a new phone number or extra number ie. Home or work as the default in new contact is mobile, the + symbol doesn't respond.
    So infuriating for such an essential app. For the most my upgrade is ok although a few apps now don't open.

    I see a number if the number of cards in the group more than fills the page. However, if there are blank lines on the page, there is no number.

  • Can't restore new phone from a backup

    I went to the Apple store today and had my iPhone 4 replaced under warranty because the sleep button was stuck. The guy told me to come home, plug it into iTunes and choose the restore from previous phone backup option. I did that and halfway through it stopped, and gave me an error. I had no other option but to click "Ok" and next thing I know it went to the page where you sync it and it already put the phone under my name. Now I can't get back to the screen where you restore from a backup! I went into device preferences and the backup from Sunday night from my old phone is still there, but I have no idea how to restore it to my new phone. I really want my pictures back into my camera roll, contacts, texts, and all that back! Does anyone know how to get back to that screen where you choose to restore?
    Thank you!

    If anyone else is looking for a solution to this same problem, I was able to get it working looking through several older discussions.
    The solution was to use the password that I had on my iTunes account the very first time I set up the iPhone about a year ago.  I changed my iTunes password about 10 months ago;  but apparently, the backups continue to use the password that existed when the phone was first set up.
    A couple of troubling things with this are that 1) I didn't apply a password when I did the backup this afternoon so I don't understand why it was required when I did the restore a few hours later. and 2) it makes zero sense why iTunes would not be smart enough to use the current accout password when requiring the password to restore from a backup made with no password.
    I thought iTunes and Apple were smarter than that.  With so many posts stating exactly the same problem, it is clear that this is bug in the software.
    Best,
    Craig

  • Strang contact on my phone...can't be deleted. I can delete other contacts, but not this one.

    There's a strang contact in my phone from China. No phone number, but a bunch of info like an address, even his link to facebook. I can't delete this contact, but I can delete any other contact in my phone. Is this some kind of virus? how can i delete this?

    There are no known viruses for an unjailbroken iOS device.
    Did you recently install an app that could be using this contact for some reason?
    The next few troubleshooting steps, although 3 is unlikely to solve anything but it can't hurt...
    3. Remove all apps from Recently Used list...
    - From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List

  • Newer Phones (specially N series such as N79 and N...

    Hi to all.
    I want from Nokia that to not give N Series cell phones production Licence to CHINA.
    Becouse where i live, people and specially I, not buy nokia N78 & N96 becouse their origin were CHINA. however everyone knows that it is under license of nokia.
    i guess in other countries should be this conditions and people dont have a good point of view to CHINA products.
    I hearty reguest from NOKIA to product at least newer phones such as N79 and N85 by own (would be MADE IN FINLAND)
    thanks and sorry for my bad english.
    Nokia N79 4GB
    SW Version: 32.001 RM-348 MEA

    from your name i can see we live in same part of the world , and i know the "made in china " carries a little stigma around here.
    but look at it this way, a lot of phone manufacturers are now making their phones in china, sometimes , ALL their units come from china. strange enough it's only nokia's china units we try to avoid , Why is that??? i trully can't see the difference if the same standards apply all over nokia manufacturing facilities.
    sometimes, we are perfectly satisfied with the phone, but when we turn it around and read where it's made, or the fact being pointed by someone else, it suddenly feels Awkward and we can't stand the phone anymore, still can't understand why??
    if it's good, if's working as it should , if you're personally happy with it, it's made in a good factory and that's it. try to enjoy it.
    Fear not those who argue but those who dodge
