Strange class error when using java

I've been attempting to use java.awt.robot to simulate a key press when a button is clicked however I'm getting a couple of errors that I can't figure out but I'm not so good when it comes to scripts. When the button "LetterButton" is pressed it should simulate a keypress, ideally to the desktop/operating sytem but the errors I'm getting are:-
1071: Syntax error: expected a definition keyword (such as function) after attribute public, not static.
1084: Syntax error: expecting rightbrace before leftbrace.
1131: Class must not be nested.
Here's the code:-
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><mx:WindowedApplicationxmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute">
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import java.awt.Robot;
import java.awt.event.KeyEvent;
public class Main {
public static void main(String[] argv) throws Exception {
Robot robot =
new Robot();
robot.keyPress(KeyEvent.VK_A);
robot.keyRelease(KeyEvent.VK_A);
]]>
</mx:Script>
<mx:VBox x="359" y="262" horizontalCenter="0" verticalCenter="0">
<mx:Button id="LetterButton" label="Button" click=""/>
<mx:TextInput id="txt"/>
</mx:VBox></mx:WindowedApplication>

Sounds tricky. I may ask them to look for an alternative way of doing it as Java really isn't my thing, I'm merely just a flex beginner at the moment.
The reason I've been looking for this is that my app will be installed on a digital tv that also has a system connected to it using a Linux operating system so the user can switch between watching digital tv and the application seamlessly and at the moment a Linux professional who I'm working with has the Digital TV bound to the F12 key which is bound to a handheld remote control (being a tv there is no keyboard, just an 'air mouse' and the remote control).
So my client and my Linux guy have asked me to come up with a way of getting the app to communicate with the desktop/operating system. I have seen flex apps in the past where a user can drag and drop videos on their desktop into an air application from which they will be played so I thought it would be possible to interact with the exteral OS/Desktop from within an AIR app by using just flex but it doesn't seem so easy through my research.
Thanks for your help though.

    Edited by: arun240 on Jul 25, 2008 8:47 AMWell, it seems there's an object (perhaps a PaymentPipe?) pointing to null which you're trying to invoke a method (performPaymentInitialization()?) on. Needles to say: you can do that.
    SomeObject so = null;
    // ... some more code ...
    so.someMethod(); // No can do! A NPE will be thrown!

  • Model generation error when using java.util.List in JavaBeans

    hi there,
    when I try to generate model classes from JavaBeans classes,
    packed into a JAR the generation process always stops with erros when the Bean class uses a property of type
    java.util.List. See my example:
    class MyJavaBean{
       private java.util.List someMembers;
    The error is:
    Inspecting relation "MyJavaBean.SomeMembers" for source class "MyJavaBean"
    [Warning]:This relation cannot be added as the TargetModelClass is not specified
    [Error]: There are one or more relations unresolved. Importing the model without resolvoing the relations might result in erratic output.
    Must I use a workaround or does anybody know something about this problem ? Installed: NW SP12
    thx,

    Hi Bhavik,
    Can you please explain the error which you are getting while importing the model.
    Please have a look at this tutorial.

  • Compilation errors when using java 5.0 features

    Hi,
    I modified the make script in my project to use JDK 1.5.0_11 compiler. instead of 1.4.2 compiler. But when I run the make script, it is throwing errors for all the JDK 1.5.0 features like for-each construct, auto-boxing etc..
    Please let me know if I am issing anything.
    It compiles successfully in my IDE.
    Thanks,
    Ravikumar

    May be. I am not expert in Make. I can see that it is using the programatic interface sun.tools.javac.Main to compile. Also -bootclasspath option is being used. But I dont see any -target option. So I am confused.

    I have no idea what could be causing this. I can find one link to it on this forum: http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9488983 . But the only answer to that query says it is the same as another bug which appears entirely different, not to mention being very old (while talking about an imminent fix), and being related to a different OS and (I think) a different version of sun studio (express vs. normal?).
    Any ideas? Could it be related to having gcc/g++ on the machine?

    I would recommend using JAXB instead of the Oracle class generator. This will give a standards based object-to-XML platform.
    Oracle provides two JAXB implementations: one in the TopLink product, and the other in the XDK.
    For an example of using TopLink JAXB see:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/technical/tips/jaxb/index.htm
    TopLink also provides the ability to map existing Java objects to an existing XML Schema, for an example of this see:

    If anyone has encountered such problem; would appreciate if you could share the solution.
    Regards, Vidyadhar

    Hi guys, I have the same problem. I have an application EAR file with two modules (EJB and WAR starting in this order). The application can schedule a process via EJB timer. In this case restarting the server I receive the error above. If I change the modules start order --> WAR - EJB the server start correctly, but the application scheduler fails (the persistency is not working) with this error:

  • UDESEncrypt Errors when using the JAVA engine (NW IDM 7.0)

    Folks,
    I'm seeing an error when I use the uDESEncrypt function with the Java Engine in NW IDM SP2 Patch 3.
    The error I am getting is:
    runFunctionsInString($FUNCTION.encrPWD()$$) got exception
    org.mozilla.javascript.EvaluatorException: uDESEncrypt: Key should be exactly 24 bytes long.
    The code calling it is:
    // Main function: encrPWD
    function encrPWD(Par){
         //Example calling DSE internal function
         //UserFunc.uStop("Terminated by user");
         key = "C:\Program Files\SAP\IdM\Workflow\configs\KEY\keys.ini";
         OutString = UserFunc.uDESEncrypt(key, Par);
         return OutString;
    I have also seen this error when using Patch 4.
    Interestingly enough, the error does not occur when using the Windows Engine.  Anyone else seeing this?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi Matthew,
    Try to replace the '\' with '
    key = "C:
    Program Files
    SAP
    IdM
    Workflow
    configs
    KEY
    keys.ini";
    Alternative approaches,
    1) setting key empty and it will look into %DSE_HOME%\KEY\key.ini
      which should be C:\Program Files\SAP\IdM\Identity Center\Key\key.ini on default installation path.
    2) or setting the key to something like = 6D5A2AF59B1CDD7F9592484F178331C891537A3F9B91D362
       a 24 byte key...
    Also when using DES you should ensure that in Identity Center underneath Options/General
    you have encryption algorithm set to 3DES.
    Normally if you intend to use this for password provisioning in IC you would also
    on the identity store (for instance 'Enterprise people') underneath 'password policy' check
    of for 'enable password provisioning.'
    By doing so the MX_ENCRYPTED_PASSWORD with be set when operating through
    workflow (3DES encryption version of the MX_PASSWORD) which allows you to obtain password
    when provisioning to other target systems...

  • Error When Using Class :(

    Hey,
    Class:
    package
        import flash.display.MovieClip;
        import flash.events.Event;
        public class Main extends MovieClip
            public var enemyA:Array = [];
            public var birdA:Array = [];
            public var rowNum:int = 2;
            private var gap:int = 100;
            private var obj_no = 2;
            public var enemy1:mychar = new mychar();
            public var TheBird:BirdChar = new BirdChar();
            public function Main()
                // constructor code
                createEnemyF();
                createBirdF();
                this.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,loopF);
            public function createEnemyF()
                for (var i:int = 0; i < rowNum; i++)
                    for (var j:int = 0; j < obj_no; j++)
                        enemy1.x = Math.random() * stage.stageWidth - enemy1.width;
                        enemy1.y = - i * (gap + enemy1.height) - 30.65;
                        enemyA.push(enemy1);
                        addChild(enemy1);
            public function createBirdF() {
                TheBird.x = 270.95;
                TheBird.y = 350.95;
                birdA.push(TheBird);
                addChild(TheBird);
            public function loopF(event:Event) {
                updateEnemyPositionsF();
                updateBirdPositionsF();
                hitTestF();
            public function updateEnemyPositionsF() {
                enemy1.y +=  2;
            public function updateBirdPositionsF() {
                TheBird.x = mouseX;
            public function hitTestF() {
                if(TheBird.hitTestObject(enemy1))
                    gotoAndPlay(5);
                    trace('The Bird Hit Enemy 1');
    This conflicts and causes this error:
    1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: MouseEvent
    ^ ^ Code repeats to all of my event listeners
    Thanks for your time.

    Thanks, i thought it might be this because of previous problems but i seen i already had : import flash.events.Event; so i thought that would be OK!
    Second Error:
    1180: Call to an undefined method Timer.
    I think this is the same sort of thing but what to import to fix this?
    So far these are my imports:
        import flash.display.MovieClip;
        import flash.events.Event;
        import flash.events.MouseEvent;
        import flash.events.TimerEvent;
    Thanks for helping.

    Looks like you imported events.Event but not events.MouseEvent (or some similar syntax) basically you must import MouseEvents separately from other Events.

    I am getting the following error when using spring binding for a command form class.
    Class ExCommandForm
    private String firmCode;
    public String getFirmCode ()
    public void setFirmCode ()
    In my jsp I have the following

    <input name="<c:out value="${status.expression}"/>" type="text" value="<c:out value="${status.value}"/>" >

    Ps. exCommandForm is the commandForm declaration in my SiimpleFormController.
    When I deploy the application to weblogic 9.2 I get the following error :

    The problem doesn't look like it has anything to do with wappers per se. The stack indicates that the JVM died when the persistent store tried to invoke a standard Java synchronize operation. JVM crashes need to be analyzed by a JVM expert, so I second the suggestion to solicit help from JVM experts and/or filing a case with customer support. In the mean-time, you can probably work-around the issue by either (A) ensuring you have a recent version of the JVM installed, or (B) temporarily switching to the Sun JVM.

  • "Missing Class" error when running web service

    Hi,
    I am getting an "Missing Class" error when running a web service. The web service was generated from a Java class via the "create J2EE web service" option.
    The web service has a JAX-RPC handler class added, which belongs to the same package as a logging class. The logging class is used to write to a file for debug purposes. A "missing class" error is being generated whenever I attempt to invoke the web service (via the enterprise manager test util), the error refers to the logging class which is used by the main handler class. The JAX-RPC handler works fine by itself, the error is only seen when I attempt to use the logging class.
    I have re-built, re-deployed from scratch again, but still get the same error! Am I missing something simple here?
    thanks for any advice

    Cant you paste some of your code, formatted in code tags? It looks like there is a problem passing some of the XMl response, it doesnt like a tag html.
    If you post some code somebody might actually be able to help you.
