Strange color blocks appearing in transparency layers

I'm getting random color blocks appearing in a layered PSD file. Doesn't appear when the same file is opened on another machine. Color blocks move and change location and density. I created the original file and have worked in it previously (not today) Almost looks like video card issues. But doesn't happen in other programs besides photoshop? Anyone had similar issues?
Running CS2 on a Dual 2.3 G5 with 4 gb memory. Plenty of HD space.

This is the boilerplate text I use in connection to saving to a network (please NOTE the part where it explains that normally, it does work, but that it is impossible to troubleshoot someone else's network remotely, and that's why it's not supported by Adobe):
If you are opening files over a network or saving them to a network server, please
cease and desist immediately
in the event you are currently experiencing problems with one or more files.
Working across a network is not supported.
See:
http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/322391.html
Copy the
CLOSED file from your server to your local hard disk, work on it, save it again to your local hard disk, close it, and copy the closed file back to the server.
Of course, the fact that Adobe does not support working across a network does not necessarily mean it won't work. It should.
Adobe's position is that there are too many variables in a network environment for them to guarantee that everything will work correctly in every network, especially given the fact that if something does
not work properly, it's probably the network's fault, and Adobe has no way of troubleshooting your network.
If you can't work locally, you are on your own, and if something happens, you're on your own. If you must work from a server, make sure your network administrator is a competent professional.
When problems arise, a lot of valuable work can be lost.

  • Imported slides show randomly strange colors /blocks

Hi there. I have a strange thing happening in iPhoto/Aperture. My imported digitized slides look fine in thumbnails but when looking at them in full, they randomly show yellow, green and red squares. Back to miniatures looks fine again. But into the full picture then these photo's are messed up again. I need to say that this error only applies to the collection of pictures that I imported from a collection of digitized frames in JPEG. The other, from camera don't have this. I still have them separate in a folder around 1,000 pieces. Total collection around 7,000 but these ones have a big size, approx 10 MB each. Hope for some tips.

Yes, I re-read (maybe for the third time now) those other threads, and drew the same conclusion - Lion, and certain Adobe programs, have a problem, and it manifests itself, at least visually, by wild colors in the Timeline. I had hoped that someone had added some useful Replies, since I last read them, but they had not.
My understanding of video drivers on the Mac OS, is just as you mentioned - it's all done WITH the OS updates. Not being a Mac-person, I can only offer a few links, however useless they might turn out to be.
I checked the PrPro CS5/5.5 and CS 4 & Earlier forums, hoping to find a new, similar thread, but either missed them, or what I linked to was all that have been posted. Even on Creative Cow, I could not find anything, that appeared to be remotely helpful.
I am at a loss, but do wish you good luck. If you DO find a fix, or can isolate the cause, please post to this thread, and I will be glad to update those older threads on the PrPro forums, as the info might help others.
    Sorry,

  • Color blocks and lines im Photo

I just got Aperture 3. When I look at my pictures for just a few seconds they are clear then different color blocks appear in the picture. They are not present in the thumbnails only when I open a picture. Also I can open the same photos in iPhotos with no problem. If I have both iPhoto and Aperture open it does it in both programs. Apple replaced the mother board on my MacBook Pro and they say this is not a hardware problem. I'm not so sure.
Does anyone know how to fix this.
    Thanks.

When I have Aperture open it appears to affect my whole system, I’m wondering if it is the same on your system? I have checked activity monitor and am not using all my RAM although I appear to be using most of it. I am going to try a clean install and see if this helps.

  • Strange colored lines on Macbook pro screen and Mac blocked :((((

    Any idea of what wrong ? ? ? ?

Hi, Presuming it's a New MBP, take it back and get it repaired under warranty.
If by some strange turn of fate you have an older first gen. MBP with the ATI graphics chip then may be read through and join this Topic: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1697470 You might also want to get on to bennettvonbennett mailing list (subject MBP ATI issues).
If it is a MBP with the ATI X1600 GPU I can recommend "Fan Control" to help with (but not cure) the issue/defect.
For all older MBP1,1 owners... keep talking to Apple... send feed back, join the petition, email Apple PR, if we all go quiet, nothing will happen!

  • Photoshop CC messes up text colors, layer effects and whole layers?!

    Hello
I was just working on several documents when something strange happend - out of nothing the appearance of fonts, layers, backgrounds etc changed. white color turned black. some layers had total different colors ( bitmap layers, no shape layers) - everything looked really messed up. I thought its some display bug in photoshop cc so I saved my document and restartet everything - fun thing -> it did save with these alterations.
Whatever happend, I have the problem in 2 documents, i can't reproduce it - one was a pretty big psd file - the other one was a fairly new one. thank to timemachine i was able to recover my file but as of now I'm kind of scared what happend - did anyone encounter this bug? Can i somehow provide more info on that topic?
Retina Macbook Pro 15, OSX 10.8.4 and newest photoshop CC via teamcloud.
    Thanks

You may have hit CMD I and inverted the colors. Move your cursor over the image and see review the values in the info palette.
If they are reading correctly to what you see on the screen your image is altered and posisbly doing an invert again would restore you.
If the colors are reading opposite, then you have some sort of display issue.

  • Color Picker appears when quitting Premiere Pro CC

    Anyone else having this issue...
Sometimes when I quit out of Adobe Premiere Pro CC, the Color Picker appears.  After I close the Color Picker, Premiere quits as normal, but sometimes I have to close the Color Picker 3 times before it goes away.
It doesn't always do it and I can't figure out what triggers it (besides quitting Premiere).
I'm running it on Windows 8.  Premiere Pro CC v7.0.1 (105).  I only started noticing it in this most recent update of Premiere Pro CC.
    Thanks,

This bug landed on my plate recently for investigation, and today I managed to nail down one simple repro case: In AE, copy one or more Solids or Adjustment Layers to the clipboard (or a comp containing solids/AdjLayers), then right-click in PPro's Project panel, Timeline, or Effect Controls panel. I get one instance of the color picker for each solid copied to the clipboard.
A workaround for this repro case is to copy anything other than a solid or adjustment layer to the clipboard before right-clicking in PPRO.
Edited to add: I encounter the Color Picker only the first time I right-click in PPro after setting focus on the app. Also, once an AE Solid or AdjLayer is on the clipboard, this bug can be reproed each time PPro regains focus, regardless of which app had focus last.
If the Color Picker is popping up for you in cases that do not fit the scenario I've described, please send me a private message; I'll want to follow up to isolate your case.

  • Strange colors and stripes after importong Photo

    Hello,
I've got a problem in Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw (Photoshop CC).
There are strange colors and stripes in some of my photos after importing. The strange colors and stripes are not in the original photo; I can not see them in my camera and Lightroom does not show them in the grid where I can select which photo's I want to import.
Sometimes the strange colors appear in the library, but sometimes they only appear when I'm already in the developping module.
Sometimes when I re-import the photo the strange colors and stripes are gone, but sometimes they're not.
The problem is also seen in Camera Raw (Photoshop CC) with the same pictures. I'm not sure what causes this problem.
When I export this photo, the strange colors and stripes are also in the exported JPEG file.
    See picture:
The problem appears with photo's taken with my Canon EOS 550d, but it happens so rarely that I don't think my sensor gives these problems. Even more the fact that I cannot see the problem at the LCD-screen of my camera and the fact that te problem sometimes disappears when I re-import the photo to my computer. The problem appears with photo's taken with different lenses and on differen SD-cards. So i can not say what causes the problem.
Does anyone know what might cause this problem?
And can anyone tell me how to prevent or solve the problem?
    Thanks in advance!

I didn't say "not the camera, not the lenses, and not the computer"
I did say it could be the hard drive; I did say it could be the memory (those are parts of the computer), and if the camera is not writing the photos properly to the camera card, it could be the camera (which is rare, but you can't rule that out at this time).
But yes, its not the lenses

  • Very strange color phenomenon - Please help!

    Hello,
I just got a new iMac and moved all my software and files via firewire account transfer from my Mac Book to the new Mac. Everything works well, as expected, but when I open my Domain.sites2 File (I have iWeb08) on the iMac, a strange color phenomenon occurs: Identical colors specified for page background and placed shapes on the background look differently in iWeb, but when published, they look the same.
When I open the identical file on my Mac Book, the colors look the same (and publish the same of course). I've tried deleting the color shapes and creating them new, changing background color back and forth, but still: a color applied to the background of a page and a shape ontop of that page looks dramatically different. A purple looks intensive in the background, that same purple applied to a shape looks a lot mor pastell-ish and light, almost as if the color was converted to cmyk when applied to the shape, and left in vibrant RGB in the background.
Now this means that on the iMac in iWeb I cannot edit my site any more. I don't see what I do. If I make the colors for page background and shapes look identical in iWeb (or even specify identical color values), and publish, they look differently in the browser (I checked in multiple browsers).
I checked everthing for hidden transparency or cmyc conversion options that might be accidentally selected but can't find anything. I changed my monitor color settings, but that doesn't seem to be it, either.
What is happening to the color and why do colors on shapes look different than color in the background? Help. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks
    Petra

Could be that monitor gamma, when calibrating the monitor, is different on old and new system.
Not that it should matter, but both browsers and iWEB handles colors in strange ways and sometimes use the Monitor color profile instead of for instance the sRGB color profile.

  • Multi-colored block noise bug in Adobe Premiere - DV video

When I edit a DV video in Premiere 6.5 sometimes  the final DV video output will have this strange multi-colored blocks  that last a frame or two, and it will have a loud violent hiss right  there.  It's not in the original DV video, and it won't be in the same  place if I resave it.  I can't figure out what's causing it.  I blured  the logo in the bottom left corner, but it's fine.  It will look perfect  with the video screwed up behind it.  Anyone have any ideas what's  happening, or have you run into this before??

Anything that does that "once in awhile" and "not in the same place" is most often caused by TSR software running in the backbround
That TSR software is doing "something" to the hardware that is stealing a few clock cycles or polling the system bus... and that causes problems with Premiere
You need to check what else is running in the background, and stop it if at all possible
Also, This is aimed at Premiere Pro, but may help

  • Can a Color Box display the transparent color [16777216]?

I was trying to force a Color Box to display the transparent color [16777216 = "2 to the 24th"], but I didn't have much luck.
Instead of displaying transparent, the Color Box wanted to paint a replica of the coloring tool's "transparent" icon, which is a small "T" on a white background.
Is it possible to make a Color Box display the transparent color?
    [See attached VI.]

    > Well just for the record it appears it is possible to make a color box transparent.
Okay, that's pretty cool. How'd you do it? Also, your transparent "color" reports as being 0 [zero], which should be black. [Frankly, this strikes me as something of a bug...] And your Color Box does report as Visible.
Or maybe it's only reporting the first 24 bits of your color as black, and omitting some values in the other eight bits [such as, maybe {1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1}???].
I added a couple of other values [2^32 - 1, and (2^32 - 1) - (2^24 - 1), which should have 0 in the low 24 bits, and all 1's in the high eight bits], but I couldn't get it to take a value of 2^32. [I don't know how to do long ints in LabVIEW - I seem to recall that you can't.]
Anyway, when I get some time [maybe tonight], I'll write a script to display all 256 possible values of the top eight bits.
But in the meantime, do tell how you got the Color Box to display transparent.
    Thanks! Gotta run.

  • Transparency, layers and Avatars

    Hi everyone,
I am working on an application which involves overlapping an image over one another. For that, is transparency feature available in flex ? I mean, can we manipulate images in flex dynamically to add transparent layers the way we do in adobe photoshop?
The idea is that of an avatar. For example: If we look at online avatars, we chose if we want the image to be a male or female, then we chose the color of the hair..indicating..lets say the age of the avatar, then we may choose to change the skin tone of the avatar..indicating the ethnicity of the avatar and so on. In all this, transparency or the concept of layers is required for image manipulation. Can that be done dynamically in flex ? Thanks.
    Regards,
    Puneet.

    Hi there,
I don't get the idea in detail, but it is possible to do it with .png or .swf files. Explain a little more in detail if you can ???
E.g. how would you want to handle these layers ???
    regards aktell2007

This looks like overscan, which is a portion of the video image that is normally not visible on a display.  You can crop it out if necessary.
The background explanation is that the full image as it appears visually on a TV is actually not the full video image.  There is a portion of the image, on the edges, that is normally hidden by the bezel of the TV.  This area is called the overscan area.  Sometimes the overscan area is used to convey extra data; sometimes it shows up in video that is transferred from one device to another.  In my experience it most often shows up in analog video that is digitized.
You could just go ahead and edit as is (or at least a test portion) and see if it is still visible in the final video (that is, after being exported from FCE).  If it's still visible, you might consider cropping it out.
It would help to know exactly what the origin of the video is and anything that may have been done to the video before you got it.  Also, what your sequence settings are.

  • I have vertical colored lines appearing on the Mini Ipad screen

I have vertical colored lines appearing on the Mini Ipad screen

I had the same problem with my first gen ipad mini. The solution was not  to do a hard reset, but instead to push the sleep/off button until the  red slider appeared, then slide to OFF. Wait a few seconds then push the  sleep/home button until the Apple logo appeared. The lines were gone.  I  called Apple Support and they wanted $19 to troubleshoot over the phone  and $99-$199 to bring to the nearest Apple store. This may not be a  permanent fix, but it resolved the issue. I purchased my ipad mini from a  local electronics store in May of this year. Believing it to be new and  still under warranty I called the AppleCare store and discovered that  it had "previously" been purchased in November a year ago and was no  longer in warranty. As stated, I've had the device since May and it has  worked wonderfully until today when I turned it on and it had colored  vertical lines displayed on the screen. The lines would change color at  times and even became a solid black stripe. The strange thing was that  when taking a screen shot the lines were not noticeable and didn't show  up on the picture. The Customer Care support tech told me to search  other display issues. On one of the support threads it had something to  do with videos/video apps and that is where I saw to do the SLIDER OFF.  It worked even when the hard RESET had not.

  • Anti-aliasing not working on new transparent layers in CS5

A problem has appeared in CS5 running on Lion where anti-aliasing isn't working on transparent layers.
If I create a shape and select it with the magic wand on the background layer and then Edit>Stroke I get a smooth line.
If I create a new transparent layer, create a shape, select with the magic wand and Edit>Stroke I get a jagged line.
This is driving me crazy. I've reset the settings and tried everything I can think of. It never used to do this, what's going on?
See image below (left - background layer, right - layer 1. same process on each)
    Thanks, Stu.

If I create a new transparent layer, create a shape, select with the magic wand and Edit>Stroke I get a jagged line.
    What’s with the Magic Wand?
If you create a Shape as Path you could »Load path as selection« or »Stroke path with brush« (see the bottom of the Paths Panel).
Edit: And you could load the transparency of the Layer by command-clicking its icon in the Layers Panel.
Or why not use the Layer Style Stroke?
