Strange colors, possibly corruption?

I am getting random images that have colors all messed up. Sometimes it the original raw file, but usually its one of the versions. Part of the original file will be visible, but maybe three quarters of it has massive color streaks and *****.
Deleting the version and reapplying the changes will fix it, but when the RAW file is doing this then I have no fix.
I will import a bunch of files and everything looks good. then the next day I will open the project and maybe 5 files have strange color shifts..
is there any way I can post an image to display this?

I too ran into this problem 6 or more months ago. I found it to be OSX 10.6 that started corrupting files when writing to an external firewire drive. I went back to my memory card at the Canon files (both raw and JPG) were fine. I had the corruption when writing the files from the memory card to the firewire drive, before importing the raw files into Aperture. I was also able to duplicate it on two different computer running 10.6 through 10.8 with different firewire drives. I ran a Photoshop action that resized and saved the files on both the firewire external drive and the internal HD. The HD files were ALL fine, but about 15% of the external FW drive images were bad.
Apple, of course, had never heard of this problem!
I know of at least one other photographer that has had the same issue.

  • [SOLVED] Opera browser displaying strange colors

After the most recent intel driver update my Opera browser is displaying very strange colors:
However, it's the only application that seems affected by the change. Everything else displays colors properly. Perhaps the package suffered some sort of corruption (the opera package that is)? Any ideas on steps to correct this?

What is your graphics card? The default acceleration method is now SNA, which used to be UXA. You can force UXA as stated here:

There seems to be some bug here, the same as the other thread about conky color issue seems to point to.

    Hi
I have a problem with color prints from photoshop elements 12. The pictures are too light and with strange colors. I have a Canon pixma mg615I0 printer and use mac os X yosemite. The pictures are taken with a coanon eos 550d in the color space sRGB. I have followed adobes recommendations and have tried both letting the printer respektive photoshop manage the colors. But nothing works. I see that there are different opinions about which is best to do so I tried both. I have the latest printer driver installed. Can anyone help me with this?

    Do the following:
Print a test page from the printer. Perhaps the print head needs cleaning via its maintenance facility.
Let the printer manage colors, not PSE
    Calibrate the monitor

  • Satellite A300-202 - External display turned a strange color

    Hi,
I have a Satellite A300-202 with a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650, and after upgrade from vista to windows 7, my external display turned a strange color, seemed to lose the red color. Never show the white color, in which should show the white color shows the color blue.
I have uninstalled and installed again the graphic card drivers and update the new drivers but dont solved this trouble. My external monitor it's ok because I have tried with other laptop and don't have this trouble. I have also tried my laptop with other monitor and have the same trouble.
Anybody ever had this problem, someone who can help me?
    Thanks,

    Hi Xardas,
Yes I have problems only with the external monitor.
I tried both. Now I have the new beta version to the windows 7 64bits, downloaded from the amd/ati site, but I have tried also with the version available in the toshiba drivers page to my A300-202, and had the same problem.
Yes I have installed the new version of the BIOS too.
    Thanks,

  • Oracle 9i clob segment possible corruption

    Hello all,
We are experiencing some select issues from a table containing a CLOB segment. Since I don't know too much about CLOBs and we are suspecting a possible corruption. What would be the next step besides a DBV on the datafile housing hat table?
I have read that there is a package called DBMS_LOB ... but not sure how to use
    Much appreciated

  • Possible corrupt or injected data

    Hello,
I have a question for the SQL Server security experts.
My scenario is as follows:  I am currently migrating data off a legacy system, and into another.  This system is notoriously hard to work with, and has been severely abused over the years.  Many logical associations were broken, and band aided
back together.  It is a sunset system, however demographic data still needs to be retrieved.
Upon loading the data into a slowly changing dimension in another system, I am running into an issue where the same values will not equal themselves.  I have tried converting the data types, stripping all non-ascii characters from the string data.
I have checked the data lengths, all equal similarly length and stored string data.  I am detecting no hidden characters within the string as well.  There is no reason why this data won't equal itself.  My only conclusion at this point is that
it is either corrupted or injected.
Are there any suggestions on how to detect possible corruption or injection?  I have read many articles around sql injection, and I suspect that I am dealing with binary data injected onto the end of the string data.  However, when I check the
    byte size it looks normal.

Physical corruption you would detect with DBCC CHECKDB
Corrupted foreign keys you could detect with DBCC CHECKCONSTRAINTS
If someone has maliciously manipulated the data in order to conduct any kind of second order attack via SQL Injection or otherwise, it really depends on the skillfulness of the attack how easily one could detect & comprehend that.
Hidden character may also have gotten into the system by badly written applications and imho are not necessarily an indication of an attack.
Maybe you could show us a sample.
If you truly suspect an attack going on though, you should follow your hopefully existing escalation procedures and get the system ready for a forensic investigation by making sure nothing can get changed any more. Unless you want to keep
that system running to try to catch the attacker “live”. But I do not recommend using a production system as a honeypot if you don’t know exactly what you are doing (and probably not even then).

  • Strange colors and stripes after importong Photo

    Hello,
I've got a problem in Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw (Photoshop CC).
There are strange colors and stripes in some of my photos after importing. The strange colors and stripes are not in the original photo; I can not see them in my camera and Lightroom does not show them in the grid where I can select which photo's I want to import.
Sometimes the strange colors appear in the library, but sometimes they only appear when I'm already in the developping module.
Sometimes when I re-import the photo the strange colors and stripes are gone, but sometimes they're not.
The problem is also seen in Camera Raw (Photoshop CC) with the same pictures. I'm not sure what causes this problem.
When I export this photo, the strange colors and stripes are also in the exported JPEG file.
    See picture:
The problem appears with photo's taken with my Canon EOS 550d, but it happens so rarely that I don't think my sensor gives these problems. Even more the fact that I cannot see the problem at the LCD-screen of my camera and the fact that te problem sometimes disappears when I re-import the photo to my computer. The problem appears with photo's taken with different lenses and on differen SD-cards. So i can not say what causes the problem.
Does anyone know what might cause this problem?
And can anyone tell me how to prevent or solve the problem?
    Thanks in advance!

I didn't say "not the camera, not the lenses, and not the computer"
I did say it could be the hard drive; I did say it could be the memory (those are parts of the computer), and if the camera is not writing the photos properly to the camera card, it could be the camera (which is rare, but you can't rule that out at this time).
But yes, its not the lenses

  • Very strange color phenomenon - Please help!

    Hello,
I just got a new iMac and moved all my software and files via firewire account transfer from my Mac Book to the new Mac. Everything works well, as expected, but when I open my Domain.sites2 File (I have iWeb08) on the iMac, a strange color phenomenon occurs: Identical colors specified for page background and placed shapes on the background look differently in iWeb, but when published, they look the same.
When I open the identical file on my Mac Book, the colors look the same (and publish the same of course). I've tried deleting the color shapes and creating them new, changing background color back and forth, but still: a color applied to the background of a page and a shape ontop of that page looks dramatically different. A purple looks intensive in the background, that same purple applied to a shape looks a lot mor pastell-ish and light, almost as if the color was converted to cmyk when applied to the shape, and left in vibrant RGB in the background.
Now this means that on the iMac in iWeb I cannot edit my site any more. I don't see what I do. If I make the colors for page background and shapes look identical in iWeb (or even specify identical color values), and publish, they look differently in the browser (I checked in multiple browsers).
I checked everthing for hidden transparency or cmyc conversion options that might be accidentally selected but can't find anything. I changed my monitor color settings, but that doesn't seem to be it, either.
What is happening to the color and why do colors on shapes look different than color in the background? Help. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks
    Petra

Could be that monitor gamma, when calibrating the monitor, is different on old and new system.
Not that it should matter, but both browsers and iWEB handles colors in strange ways and sometimes use the Monitor color profile instead of for instance the sRGB color profile.

    Hi rockjedi,
In my opinion you should give us a little bit more details about your notebook and operating system.
    What do you think?
Im not sure but I think now its time for reinstalling Windows. You can choose the HDD recovery feature if your notebook does it have or Toshiba recovery disk.

  • MBP shows strange colored images, artefacts

    Hi everyone,
since a few days my MBP (2,4 GHz, Summer 2007) shows some strange artefacts on images. I attached a screenshot taken with my camera.
I tried the following to solve the issue:
    - reset PRAM
    - re-install 10.5.2, re-install graphics update
    - change resolution and color depth
During my tests I noticed a few strange things:
    - Preview.app is closed, I choose another color profile and open the attached picture, picture is okay
    - switch back to standard color profile, picture in Preview.app is still okay
    - Close Preview.app, reopen picture --> strange colors
Booting with other Mac in target mode doesn't help
When starting from Leopard-DVD the original Aurora wallpaper is displayed without artefacts but I can't reinstall because I already have 10.5.2 installed.
So does anybody know whats going wrong here? Tips? Suggestions?
Thank you very much in advance!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
It is very difficult to know what is going on here. It seems to me that if it were a hardware issue, you would have strange colors no matter how you set the color profile. Given that the colors are off in just certain situations, I would suspect a software glitch of some sort. I am not a software expert, so I don't know if there is a good way to fix this short of reinstalling the OS. Even though you have OS X v. 10.5.2 installed, I think you could reinstall the OS by doing an Archive and Install and then updating it back to 10.5.2. You need to have a certain amount of free space on your hard drive to do this, and of course you would want to make a complete backup first just in case anything were to go wrong. And you would want to repair permissions both before and after the A&I.
Otherwise, there are a couple of things you could try. You could run the Apple Hardware Test and see if everything passes. You could also repair permissions using Disk Utility and see if that helps, particularly if you haven't done that in a while.
It's also hard for us to tell much from just one picture. It might be helpful to post a shot of the normal colors next to the strange colors. That might provide better insight to someone. Also, you can use the utility "Grab" to take a screenshot using your computer instead of a camera-- that might also make things a bit better to see.
    Good luck!

  • Followup to a previous question on strange color corruption

Previously I posted the following question regarding massive corruption when I would upload into Aperture.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2276464&tstart=0
Well last weekend It got really bad where around 25% of images were corrupt. I have solved the problem. I was running 14 gig of Patriot memory. I found it I would run 16 gig I would get constant kernel panics.
So I removed 6 gig and now run a total of 8. Voila. no more corruption.
So my question is. Where can I get Mac certified memory for my G5? It seems Apple no longer sells it on their site.
    Thanks
