Strange Console Messages from Long Gone Application.

A few years ago, I used to use a broadband dongle on my MacBook.  It rarely worked so I stopped using it.
By chance I've just noticed the messages below on Console.  Internet Everywhere was the name of the application. However, the application and preference file have long since been removed.
Any ideas on how I can stop these messages/processes?

Looks like there's still a file left in one of the following;
~/Library/LaunchAgents
/Library/LaunchAgents
/Library/LaunchDaemons
/Library/StartupItems
/System/Library/LaunchAgents
/System/Library/LaunchDaemons
/System/Library/StartupItems
~/ refers to your home folder.
Also, check in System Preferences > Accounts > your account > Login Items
If there's an entry there, highlight it and click the minus sign below the window. (you'll probably need to unlock the account to get to login items)

You apparently have installed iDocument in the past, and it now seems to now be incompletely uninstalled, leaving behind a "launch agent" or "launch daemon" which is still active.
If you are currently running iDocument and want to keep it, I would re-install it.
If you don't want it, try to find out if the vendor provides an uninstaller for it.
If you don't want it and can't obtain an uninstaller,  then I would look in these three folders:
Home (yourUsername) > Library > LaunchAgents
    HD > Library > LaunchAgents
    HD > Library > LaunchDaemons
    for this file:
    com.icyblaze.iDocumentHelper.plist
If you find that file, trash it and restart.

  • A very new and strange warning message from my iPhone

I am getting a very new and strange warning message on my iPhone. The phone will repeatedly - even when sitting idle - flash a message that states, "This accessory not made to work with iPhone. Would you like to turn on Airplane Mode to reduce audio interference ... you will not be able to make or receive calls?"
This message started to flash up on my iPhone after I installed Leopard yesterday evening (11/15/07). I just updated my iTunes software today so I have iTunes 7.5 (19) and my iPhone software version is 1.1.2. Finally, I am not trying to hack my iPhone since I ain't smart enough to do so and, even if I were, I wouldn't want to have a dead phone on my hands.
    Any suggestions or thoughts? Thanks.

    Charles
I think my first instinct would be to try a Reset of the iPhone, if that doesn't improve things then try a Restore from within iTunes BUT.....
I would also wait awhile and see in anyone else weighs in with other suggestions first.
    Good luck

Has anybody out there any idea what it does mean ?
Thanks alot in advance fot thr help.

Most of these messages are probably inconsequential. Things fire up at different speeds when you boot and log in, and sometimes portions of the system are not ready for requests from other portions. The system is good about retrying stuff, but it puts out messages indicating that it had to do things like that. The characteristics of booting on your restored system may be just enough different from your original system that you see different messages.
However, if you have done a full system restore from Time Machine, I have two recommendations for you:
First, Restart the computer and log in (to get things in a fresh state). Then go to Applications / Utilities / Disk Utility. Select the line in the column on the left which has the name of your main hard drive (the one you boot from). Then click on Repair Permissions in the panel on the right. You will need to enter your Administrator password.
Be patient. This will take a long time (30 minutes or perhaps longer), and the progress bar will NOT advance to indicate how things are going. You will likely see HUNDREDS of permission repair lines. The vast majority of these are inconsequential -- Disk Utility just tidying things up. For example, you will likely see a file ownership or group correction for every help file in every language for every Lexar printer the computer has in its library. But some of the corrections ARE meaningful. Don't worry that it is doing so much. If there's a problem you NEED to worry about it will tell you that the Permissions Repair failed.
When that finally completes, Quit Disk Utility and Shut Down the computer. Now reset Parameter memory (PRAM). PRAM holds copies of certain system settings for rapid access. We just want to be sure it is in sync with the full system restore you did. To reset PRAM, locate the 4 keys Apple-Option-P-R. Hold down those 4 keys continuously and, while doing so, press and release the power button to reboot. Keep those 4 keys held down until you hear the SECOND startup chime, then release them. Your system will then continue to boot up normally.
You may still see boot up and log in related messages in the console, but these steps may cure any actual operational problems you are having.
EDITED TO ADD: This post should have been made as a response to Rodger instead of to Curt.

  • Strange Console message: GetMenuRefTable not found in header

I noticed many references to "GentMenuRefTable" in console.log. I did search this string in Google, but came up empty. Has anyone else seen this? Is this a problem? I think that only Apple's applications are writing this message, so I'm afraid it could be serious.

Hi, BanzaiMan. Welcome to the Discussions.
I've not seen the GetMenuRefTable message and, like you, I've been unable to find any documentation for it.
    1. It's possible that the cause is related to some errant Startup or Login Item, perhaps some third-party code you've installed. My "Troubleshooting Startup and Login Items" FAQ can help you pin that down if such an item is causing the problem.
    2. Check asl.log (available under the /var/log list in the Logs list in Console) to see if there are any corresponding entries containing GetMenuRefTable. If so, the Level value will tell you if this is a problem.
    For example, the system.log message:
    Dec 17 10:24:10 PMG5 lookupd[435]: lookupd (version 369.5) starting - Sun Dec 17 10:24:10 2006
has the following corresponding entry in asl.log:
    [Time 2006.12.17 16:24:10 UTC] [Facility netinfo] [Sender lookupd] [PID 434] [Message lookupd (version 369.5) starting - Sun Dec 17 10:24:10 2006] [Level 5] [UID -2] [GID -2] [Host PMG5]
The time stamps are different as messages recorded in asl.log are posted in GMT (Zulu) time, not local time.
The [Level 5] value indicates it is a Notice type message, i.e. a normal but significant condition, sort of a "strong FYI." Generally, messages with a Level of 5 or more can be ignored. The value of Facility may also provide more info concerning what is generating the message.
Note that messages recorded in console.log may not have a corresponding entry in asl.log, but it's worth a look.
Note that some of the information above is from the "System Logging"" appendix of my book, Troubleshooting Mac® OS X, Tiger Edition.
    Good luck!

  • Strange console message: "starting    J o y ! p e f f p w "

In my console I have several of these errors:

    err: 0
    ret: 1
    gomodinit_funcpos reinitialized
    call modinitfunction
Does anyone know what this message is from? Is it something to do with the Dashboard (as the errors preceeding are)?
    My installed non-default Dashbboard widgets:
    BBC Weather
    BitMemo
    Countdown Plus
    Digital World Clock
    EggTimer
    minipatience(0.9.5)
    Notepad
    Picker
    qwickCONVERT
    SimpleTimer
(Not all of these are "running" in the Dashboard...)
    iMac G5
    Mac OS X 10.4.7

    Amber,
Great question. The first thing to do would be to disable the weather widget using the "Widgets" widget to uncheck only the weather one.
Then post back if the messages still are happening.
If so - you might have to enable/disable the widgets to narrow down the culprit (if indeed a widget is making that message). Are you familiar with a binary search? Assuming you know how to make the message appear - it should be the fastest way to find the one widget.

    Hi,
This is apparently the week for integration questions!
There's no such product as "WebLogic MQ". I assume that what your trying to do is communicate with MQSeries or some other non-WebLogic vendor.
You cannot use a WebLogic client to communicate with MQ or vice-versa. You must create an MQ client using a MQ JMS connection factory in order to communicate with an MQ destination. Similarly, you must create a WL client using a WL connection factory in order to communicate with a WL destination. This advice applies to any JMS vendor, and is quite similar to the way JDBC drivers work.
Note that if you're communicating with MQ from a client rather than an application that's running on a WebLogic server, then there's often little purpose in using the "Foreign JMS" mapping facilities (in addition, these facilities may not work on the client for all foreign vendors -- I assume it depends on whether the foreign vendor connection factories and destinations are fully serializable/transferable between JVMs). Instead, you might want to consider using the standard JNDI and JMS APIs to communicate with MQ directly (eg, there's no need to involve WebLogic code in this case).
For information on integration, see the WebLogic doc for [ Integrating Remote JMS Providers | http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/e13727/interop.htm#JMSPG553 ] and, if the "MQ" your refering to in this case happens to be MQSeries, also see the blog post [Integrating WebSphere MQ 6 with BEA Weblogic Server 10|http://ibswings.blogspot.com/2008/02/integrating-mq-broker-6-with-bea.html].
Note that the majority of MQSeries integration customer apps that I've run across require "exactly-once" behavior, which means they must run on a WebLogic server (not a client) in order to participate in a WebLogic JTA transaction.
    Hope this helps,
    Tom

  • How to solve strange Console messages

    Hi,
as the backup takes ages I opened the Console and found (among others) the following messages:
    6/10/10 7:31:14 PM com.apple.backupd[885] 2010-06-10 19:31:14.561 diskimages-helper[889:1603] Error loading /Library/Plug-ins/DiskImages/NUMPlugin.bundle/Contents/MacOS/NUMPlugin: dlopen(/Library/Plug-ins/DiskImages/NUMPlugin.bundle/Contents/MacOS/NUMPlugin, 262): no suitable image found. Did find:

    A little background:
Installed TM 2TB in early Spring. Had a System Crash (which I solved by Restoring) about a month ago. After that Backing up ALWAYS takes a looooong time.
Once I had my computer running for a week but the backup is still in the "Preparation" stage. Tried to Restart TM, also checked the Bundle using the Disk Utility. Crashed twice but the third time it ran through and did not report anything. Since One and a half hours I try to backup again.....
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!
    Simon

There's clearly a problem with that plug-in. "Wrong architecture" indicates it's for a different operating system than the one you're running. I seem to recall a similar problem some months ago with someone running Windoze, but now of course I can't find it.
Are you (or have you ever) run any of Norton's <expletive deleted> stuff? If so, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10400162&#10400162
On the other hand, this thread has the same messages: http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2387964&tstart=165 and was solved by a log out/in.
If none of those helps, I'd suggest a Restart of your Mac, and a "full reset" of Time Machine, per #A4 of Time Machine - Troubleshooting (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum).
Verifying your internal HD per #A5 in Troubleshooting might help, too.

  • Strange console message???

    Hi all,
I'm having a few problems with my mac recently - with a Kernel Panic today. Anyway I looked through my console to see if anything sticks out that could have affected the machine and I did notice this - this maybe totally harmless, I don't know, but just because it say 'Bug' it has me thinking there's a problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Mike,
I would guess that it isn’t normal, but since no information was provided about the particular API which was used to trigger that message, there’s nothing that we can do to investigate that further. A full kernel panic report will be more informative to all of us who don’t have access to Apple’s source code.

  • Console Message from deleted printer

I recently got a new printer and deleted the Epson as best I could (should have used AppDelete but I didn't). I continue to get 6 messages/minute 24/7 in reference to the Epson in Console (I now use a Canon Printer):
    6/21/08 10:15:42 AM com.apple.launchd[116] (com.epson.epw.agent[768]) Exited with exit code: 1
    6/21/08 10:15:52 AM com.apple.launchd[116] (com.epson.epw.agent[769]) posix_spawnp("/Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter/EPW/IJEPWAgent.app/Contents /MacOS/IJEPWAgent", ...): No such file or directory
    6/21/08 10:14:42 AM com.apple.launchd[116] (com.epson.epw.agent) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
Can anyone tell me where in my computer I might find this and delete it for good? I've used Finder and searched Epson but come up w/ nothing. Thanks in advance....Karen

I followed your directions so far.....when you say "search" for epw and epw.agent, should I use the search field or eyeball the list? If I use the search field, I find "EPWPrinterData (a folder) and "com.epson.epw.agent.plist" (a simple text document). Should I delete those?
Thanks for your help in advance. Karen

  • Strange Console Messages

Any idea what these mean? I'm getting a lot of them.
7/2/08 8:52:13 PM iCalExternalSync[19901] [ICalExternalSync ]Warning: first save failed in syncing changes: Multiple validation errors occurred.
7/2/08 8:52:13 PM iCalExternalSync[19901] [ICalExternalSync ]Alarm/p4331 failed insert validation - Alarm must have either a trigger date or a relative trigger duration
I also get them from Mail:
7/2/08 8:52:13 PM [0x0-0x15a15a].com.apple.mail[11528] 2008-07-02 20:52:13.935 iCalExternalSync[19901:10b] [ICalExternalSync ]Alarm/p4337 failed insert validation - Alarm must have either a trigger date or a relative trigger duration

    Hi Jon,
It looks like you have a corrupted alarm in your calendar data. Unless you'd know which event it is attached to the easiest thing would be to refresh all your calendar data
Before you start, back up your iCal database (File > Back up iCal...) in case you need to revert. Then with each calendar in turn: Select the calendar from the calendar list. Export it (File > Export...). Delete it from the calendar list. Re-import it.
The above process should catch and fix/remove your broken alarm.
    Best wishes
    John M

  • On starting up firefox i am getting an error message from javascript application telling me that my username is an invalid username/password combination. If i continue to get this error message, try entering my email address as my username.

Hi,on starting firefox which i have used solely as my browser for years i am now getting an error message from java script application that shows my username followed by a message saying; 'username'-Invalid username/password combination. If you keep getting this error, try entering your email address as your username'. I then press the OK button within that error message box and it dissapears and everything seems ok although hover my cursor over the mail(envelope) icon and it says not connected.
I only started having this problem since downloading firefox 4.It also does not tell me where this problem is occuring so i do not know where to log on with this information.I would be most grateful for any help with this matter. Many thanks.

Take a look in the Error Console for details about that.
    Tools > Error Console <br />
Right-click the message and use '''Copy''' to get that complete message.

  • Deciphering the Console messages.

Hey guys.... been having serious issues with my 2006 MBP C2D 2.16 3GB RAM 10.6.7 It takes a really, really long time to boot. It boots to OS but all I see for several minutes - or longer - is a blue screen. Eventually the desktop just pops up. I've done the usual things like resetting PRAM, SMC, reinstall - no apps or mods... same thing. Sometimes it does want to get past the gray screen. Sometimes it refuses to boot to OS DVD. I've run MEMTEST - OK... I've done a Verify Disk - OK (old drive). I installed a new drive and have the same problems. While stuck, it gets hot... anyway, I've copied Console messages from today and wonder if anyone can say what it all means.
I'll paste them below --- thanks!

  • Need help with an automating a "Message from webpage" click.

Any help would be appreciated. I guess I would consider myself as a beginner with VB.NET.
Basically - My program launches an internet explorer window. Points to a specific webpage that has records. Finds the "check all" and clicks it, then finds and clicks "delete".
I am stuck at this part. A "Message from webpage" pops up wanting to confirm the deletion of the records. I have 50 records per page and an excess of 14,000 records each day that need to be deleted. I do not have time to click OK on every single
    page.
I have tried to sendkey function, which worked for a while but for some odd reason, it quit working. Someone suggested using API, which I know nothing about. Please help me! I am desperate!
Here is my code. I know the "threading.thread.sleep" isn't good to use but I need someway to pause. Like i said, I am a beginner, so please be easy!
    Public Class Form1
    Dim oInputs As Object
    Dim oWShell As Object
Private Sub btndel_Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles btndel.Click
    With CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")

    .navigate("WEDPAGE GOES HERE!")

    Threading.Thread.Sleep(1000)
    Success = objShell.AppActivate("Message from webpage")

  • Unterstanding syslog messages from our wlc

    Hello,
we use two wlc 4402 (4.1.181.0) and several leightweight accesspoints (AIR-AP1010-E-K9 and AIR-AP1030-E-K9 ) connected to them.
On our syslog server we get a lot of messages from the two wlc, and there are 3 message types which I am a little bit afraid of.
    1. ca. 10 times per hour we get the message
    apf_80211.c:4792 APF-6-NO_CONFIG_CHANGES: Not saving 'apf.cfg' - no config changes."
    Cisco system message guide:
Error Message %APF-6-NO_CONFIG_CHANGES: Not saving '[chars]' - no config changes.
Explanation Not saving - no config changes.
Recommended Action No action is required.
Does anybody know why we get this messages and if it's possibly to suppress them?
    2. Intermittently (several times a day) we get the following message types:
    a) [ERROR] spam_l2.c 723: Max retransmissions reached on AP 00:0B:85:56:63:40 (CONFIGURE_COMMAND^M , 2)"
    b) [ERROR] spam_tmr.c 569: Did not receive hearbeat reply from AP 00:0b:85:56:ae:40"
The MAC address is not every time the same but one of our accesspoints.
On our network management system we get the following trap messages with nearly exactly the same timestamp:
    14.01.2008 04:21:56 CET
AP ''00.0b.85.56.63.40'', interface ''0x1'' is down.
When Airespace AP's interface operation status goes down this trap will be sent.
    bsnAPDot3MacAddress = 00.0b.85.56.63.40
    bsnAPIfSlotId = 0x1
    14.01.2008 04:21:56 CET
    AP disassociated from Switch.
When an Airespace AP disassociates from a Airespace Switch, the AP disassociated notification will be sent with the dot3 MAC address of the Airespace AP. This will notify the management system to remove Airespace AP from this Airespace Switch.
    bsnAPMacAddrTrapVariable =
    14.01.2008 04:22:25 CET
    AP associated with Switch.
When an Airespace AP Associates to a Airespace Switch, the AP associated notification will be sent with the dot3 MAC address of the Airespace AP. This will help the management system to discover the Airespace AP and add it to system.
    bsnAPMacAddrTrapVariable =
    bsnAPPortNumberTrapVariable = 1
    Cisco system message guide:
    a) Error Message %LWAPP-3-TX_ERR3: Max retransmissions for LWAPP control message reached on AP [hex]:[hex]:[hex]:[hex]:[hex]:[hex] for [chars] (number of pending messages is [dec])
Explanation Maximum number of times an LWAPP control packet is transmitted before declaring the AP dead has been reached for this AP. The AP may not be on the network, or might have rebooted.
Recommended Action Check if the AP has rebooted or if it has been removed from the network, or if there are connectivity issues between the AP and the controller.
    b) Error Message %LWAPP-3-ECHO_ERR: Did not receive heartbeat reply; AP: [hex]:[hex]:[hex]:[hex]:[hex]:[hex]
Explanation Controller did not get a response for the AP heartbeat message. There may be connectivity issues between the AP and the controller.
Recommended Action Check if the AP has rebooted or if it has been removed from the network, or if there are connectivity issues between the AP and the controller.
Because we don't see any network problems I'm wondering why the connection is lost.
Does anybody have an idea, perhaps CSCsh13928 (http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCsh13928, but we don't have much traffic on the wlans) ?
Is there any possibility to remotely check if the accesspoint rebooted?
If you need further information please give me a short feedback.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Thorsten Steffen

    Thanks for the help.
I have set up to send email and syslog messages from the RME applications. LMS server immediately started to send messages to the email server but syslog messages are not forwarded to the syslog server. Everything was done according to your instructions except that the name of the first script (syslog_forward.pl) is made consistent with what the second script (.bat) refer to (forward1.pl). What's the problem?  Do RME sends the standard syslog messages via UDP port 514?
    Sincerely.
