Strange Content Viewer problem: downloads do not 'stick'
I had a folio that needed to be downloaded it appeared after updating to the latest Content Viewer on my iPads (Retina, mini Retina and standard iPad2).
For some reason after quiting Content Viewer on my iPads and starting the Content Viewer app again, tapping to see that folio resulted in a empty screen on my iPad. It seemed that Content Viewer app crashed.
After quiting the app again and restarting the app , it said the folio was in the cloud. I needed to download again.
From that point on you can repeat those steps again and again: download; read; close Content Viewer app; start Content Viewer app; read folio: empty and crash; restart Content Viewer: folio gone from iPad and needs to be downloaded again. Repeat.
I tried removing the downloaded version from the app and re-download: same result.
I deleted the Content Viewer from my iPads and reinstalled from App Store: same result.
I then completely rebuild the folio in InDesign under another CC account. Logged in on my iPad under that account, downloaded the rebuild folio... And I can repeat it all over again... The download does not 'stick' and crashes the Viewer app.
Then I tried this with completly new fresh folios from fresh new InDesign pages... Same result!
But... On my iPad2 it seems fine. On my Retina iPads it goes wrong. Also covers are missing and I see double entries (it shows already downloaded folios!).
There are no renditions, just 1024 PDF file. Tried it with v26 and v29 compatibility, makes no difference.
I am stumped... I have no clue where to even begin fixing this other than the steps I already took mentioned above...
Could non-ACSII characters in the title be the cause ( it has a slash and copyright sign)? No, that seems to make no difference...

I have a folio with no upper ASCI characters in its name or any article names. created with Folio viewer version v26. My iPad has the latest ACV (3.4.5) on ipad Retina with IOS 7.1.
Exactly the same symptoms same as described by others - After viewing my folio, if I close the ACV viewer with swipe up on IOS7 and I restart the ACV, I get a grey blank screen & crash, and have to close the app with Swipe up. When I restart ACV, the library updates and I must download the folio again. Then cycle starts again...after download competes I can view the folio....Basically the folio is never saved to the iPad, after its first viewing.
The Folio has an autoplay slideshow in its first article. Don't know if there is anything else relevant I can add to help?

As discussed in numerous threads already, the new viewer has not been approved by Apple yet.
If you’re a pro or enterprise customer you can create your own viewer app. If not, you’ll have to wait or roll back to the older tools.

Limitations/issues v.2 Adobe Content Viewer on Ipad 1 (not tested on 2)

There a a few problems/limitations I'm running into with the Adobe Content Viewer for Ipad 1 (not tested on 2), like:
Autoplaying more than 1 multiple-state is impossible. Only the object in the highest place in the layers is visible (like having pulsing navigation arrows and a fade in text) -works perfectly in de windows Adobe Content Viewer with Indesign 5.5
Autoplay of an multistate object with 'stop at last frame' does not work. It just fades the entire multistate object out, instead of holding. -works perfectly in de windows Adobe Content Viewer with Indesign 5.5.
Cropping Images (changing the objectbox) in indesign, becomes skewed (or squashed) like the image just gets pushed in the new objectbox size.
Buttons with a click image/appearence become invisible in a multistate object. -works perfectly in de windows Adobe Content Viewer with Indesign 5.5.
The viewer on the ipad will crash on a navto://NameOfPage#PageNumberOtherThenTheFirst, if that page where it directs to has a slideshow. this happens 90% of the time.
Some ideas for change
Not allowing an Overlay (which is larger than the page itself) on a page depth of 1, on top of a page with depth 0. Seeing content of the page below the currentpage seems quite unuseful.
Allow multistate objects to autoplay within another multistate object (thus allowing like a: menu catagorie wich can call an autoplaying slideshow)
Zooming in on an image without first having to tap on it to enable zooming.
Updating content button.
Hitting the update button in Indesign cs5.5 (windows) doesn't update all changed content.
Hitting download update in de Adobe Content Viewer (Ipad 1) doesn't change all changed content. Archive and redownload nessesary.
We would love to see the top issues working.

I tried downloading an issue in my content viewer on the iPad, but kept getting an error saying it couldn't download and try again. After trying again several times, I signed out and tried to sign back in. Once I signed in it takes a long time for the library to update, but undownloaded issues are not appearing in the viewer.
Has anyone else had this issue? I am not able to download or check anything on the iPad, which is halting my work.I'm sitting with the same problem. Lost the folios I had in Content Viewer on my iPad and I can't log into https://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com. When I log in I just get the "pizza slices" and then it takes me back to the landing page, so I can't even check my folios online.
I have a huge job to complete for a client who is screaming and shouting on his side and my hands are tied, becuase I can't even see the folios on my computer as InDesign just keep saying "loading folios". I can't see online or offline folios.
I just updated Creative Cloud and InDesign to the latest versions. -
Adobe Content Viewer, library downloading issue
I have the free version of the folio building tools currently with acrobat.com as I test the capabilities of the publishing suite for our company. I updated the folio tools, can sign in, create a folio, and it appears OK in the shared workspace on acrobat.com. I sign into the Ipad and open up the Adobe Content Viewer app. I sign in and it gives me the message downloading library. Here is where the problem happens. After it is finished loading, nothing updates. I can't get the folio to load into the Ipad and neither can my workmate who I shared the file with. I made sure the app was completely up to date.
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Is this a common problem?

I just worked with another customer reporting the same circumstances, and it turned out that, as part of their migration from prerelease to their purchase of DPS, they had not provisioned the Adobe ID that they used to build their custom Viewer app. I need to know the name of your company, and the Adobe ID used to build your app, to determine if this is the cause of your failures.
Alternatively, if you have not yet purchased DPS, then your failures are due to the shut down of the prerelease program.

I just work for the company so I would not be able to get a hold of their Apple ID. We have the Creative Suite and I am working in InDesign CS5 with the updated folio tools extension.
I wanted to confirm that because the prerealease program is shut down, those with the free acrobat.com account can not publish a folio to the Adobe Content Viewer? Because a few weeks ago, we could. I can still see my folio in the shared workspace on acrobat.com

Content Viewer: Folio Download Keeps Failing
We keep having a problem with downloading an app in the Content Viewer. We have many apps in there, and in this particular case it keeps giving us a download error typically right on the 50.0MB mark (of a 460MB folio). For this app we have an English and French version, but while the works fine this other one keeps failing every single time.
I've tried downloading it at different locations because we've experienced errors in the past with Wi-Fi settings screwing it up ... but to no avail. I just can't seem to solve it this time. All of our other apps still download and update fine but just this one will never work. It reaches that same point in the transfer, times out, then fails.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a resolution? Thanks for reading.Same size (1024x768) but different folio names, like FOLIONAME and FOLIONAME_FR. We have several projects like this where one is English and there is another French version as a separate folio. In the past this project was working fine but we recently added a bunch of new videos to each folio but since that time the error started happening. It added a fair bit of file size to everything but only the one article in each folio changed.
Edit: I also tried deleting the recently updated article and adding it again. Nada. -
What is going on with the content viewer? I am trying to work on a folio which is a work in progress. As I ad and make changes to the articles I update them and download the update on my iPad. The problem that I have over and over and over to the point of RIDICULOUS is that I get a ERROR downloading the update and then I am requried to download the entire 521mb folio AGAIN!!!!! Then ot gets to about 321mb and stops. All I get ie a"waiting" message.
I pay entirely to much money for this softeware for it to continully have these problems. This is disrupting my work flow and causing me to miss deadlines.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the content viewer and nothing seems to work. This same problem is happening on my addroid tablet as well.
Any thoughts?

From May until September, before they upgraded the servers and timeout settings, I was having very similar problems and frustration. I had to babysit downloads on salespeople's Xooms using hotel wireless until the wee hours of a couple of mornings in addition to many frustrating days/weeks in my office. The unreliability/inconsistency was the most frustrating part. Thankfully I rarely have download and installation issues these days and get very few complaints from users in the field. Server problems seem to happen infrequently and don't last for more than a few hours when they do occur.
Make sure you're as close to a strong and solid signal as possible. Adjust the screen timeout setting on the Android tablet. When they go to sleep it seems to increase the potential for errors. What happened to me a lot was that a 500MB+ folio would slowly download in spurts and then hang during installation. I'd have to quit and restart the content viewer app to complete installation and then when it finally finished I would find that one or two articles would have gray elements or would be gray entirely. It seemed like the delays during download would sometimes lead to an incomplete article. Also, make sure you try downloading from different connections and/or rooms to eliminate your connection as a potential cause.
With some of our larger articles it takes as long to upload the article and then download/verify on multiple devices as it does to create them. I add as much padding to schedules as I can just in case Adobe has a bad server day (or week).
Big articles and folios come with more time and trouble, make sure you optimize your videos and overlay elements to keep file size as low as you can. Also, with the iPad viewer you should have progressive downloading so you can view articles as the folio is being downloaded. This may help you identify the problem article(s).

Content Viewer app for iPad not logging in?
I've checked all the boxes in troubleshooting this, they don't apply. Log in first via website, check, on both Windows Chrome and iPad Safari, still get Authentication Failed error with identical logon info from the Content Viewer app.
Online chat help could only suggest that an Adobe server was having issues. The DPS portal currently reports no issues with the web Content Viewer, not sure that is the same thing as the iPad app. Maybe DPS folks just don't know about this one yet, and they've left the building for a week on holiday.
Anyone here have any ideas? I'm not a DPS subscriber, and the app does not seem to require that, only an Adobe ID, which I created years ago and which is still working through the web. I need the content viewer for iPad to review work by people who are subscribers to DPS.

Unable to view folio in Content Viewer... folio not loading
For the last week I have been unable to load any folio and view it on the Adobe Content Viewer on my iPAD. This is getting very frustrating. I have tried rebuilding it. I have tried using properties, V27 and V28 - both unsuccessfully. This problem has been going on for over a week. I really don't know how to fix it and there is nothing that is understandable on the FORUM.
PLEASE can an ADOBE STAFF member address this issue.
I have deadlines to make it work, there seems to be a very great lack of communication from ADOBE on this issue inspite of what I am reading on the forum.
I can build it in InDesign, but when I have the iPad Attached to my computer and I open the content viewer app nothing shows up. If you are on a Mac the best way to do this is to use preview on device. The steps for getting that set up are in the article I linked to above. If you are on a PC you'll have to upload your folio to our servers before it'll show up in your content viewer. By default your folios will be created offline, but you can upload them from the Folio Builder panel flyout menu.

Hi All,
I am having trouble testing a new folio on the desktop of one of my students' computers. I have double checked her files are all setup properly. I checked her articles and her folio too. Everything is set up the way it should be. We can test it on an iPad without any problems, but when we try to test it on her desktop via the Adobe Content Viewer the screen loads and then remains grey. No error codes. Just completely grey.
Any suggestions as to why this may occur?

JessicaDid your student set her folio as PDF? You can't view PDF folios on the desktop content viewer. If you were to try and view it then you would get a grey screen.

I am really pissed off at two characteristics of Firefox 4: 1) Toolbar selections don't stick and 2) firefox window position and size settings do not stick from one use to the next.
The Bookmarks toolbar is the selection that does not stick, and Firefox, even though I set it to the size and position I want every time I use the program, always loads flush left, full top to botton, and about 1/3 of the width of the screen EVERY TIME it loads. These two characteristics are extreme pains in the ass.This problem occurs on the Juno webmail site?
I assume you are doing something different than just correcting the squiggly red underlined words. How are you spell-checking the email: using an add-on or using a feature of the Juno webmail site? If it's an add-on, which one is it? -

discussIf it shows via the spotlight search screen then you could try closing the Videos app completely and see if it shows in the app when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Videos 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Videos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -
OLM Scorm Content Viewing Problem

We are on R12.0.6 and have a SCORM content (swf) loaded with CMI tracking type.
In the system some of the users can view the content without any errors but some get LMS connection error from the content itself (the content provider's error handling screen we can say) . Thus the problem is not for all the users I've focudes on local settings but still could not figure out the cause.
Are there any browser or local setting rules such as "Scripting should be enabled","Adobe Flash should be version 8 or higher" etc that may cause this?

You can have those users go to http://www.javatester.org/version.html to check what version they have installed if any and if it is enabled.
That most likely is the cause.

Content type problem for 'does not appear to be a proper arcive'
Hi all,
The following code will create a ZipOutputStream using ByteArrayOutputStream (not FileOutputStream) and attach the outputstream to a MIME multipart email using ByteArrayDataSource (so the file never exists physically).
It works and sends the email but the zip 'does not appear to be a valid archive' even though it looks about the right size. If I do the same and use FileOutputStream to create a physical file it works OK. I think it is an issue with the content type, or maybe this just isn't possible!
I have tried:

byteArray.toString().getBytes() and application/zip & application/unknown.
Can anyone help or suggest an alternative way to create a 'in-memory' zip file that can then be emailed?

List View COLUMN organization does not stick
i have been trying to organized the columns (left to right) so that, for instance, the size of the file and the pixel dimensions of the file show up right next to the name. i have been doing this in an Album (at least today) but i have not been seeing this "stick" as i seem to have to do it every time i open Aperture and need to see this List View in an organized way.
can anyone help me with what i am not understanding here or what i am doing wrong?

When you use View->Metadata Display->Customize,
to select the columns to display in list view, as Frank Caggiano pointed out, you can also configure the display order of the list items. Just drag the items in the "Display order" pane into the order you want. And this order will stick between restarts of Aperture, at least it does this in my version. So use this panel to arrange the columns, rather than dragging the columns around.
BTW: if you configure the display order also for the Browser view, and select to show the filesize and pixelsize first, in the metadata overlay, you can display the images with the filesize shown in the Browser.
