Strange counter reading on NI 6602 using triggered acquisition

I'm using the 6602 connected to a Pulse generator going at about 100Hz. This goes to PFI 35.
An APD (photon counter) is connected to PFI 39.
I want synchronous acquisition at PFI39, after the falling edge of the pulse on PFI 35. I also count PFI 35 to see the falling edge.
This needs to happen at a rate of 100kHz. Note that I've coded all of this and it's working and it is synchronous but there is one problem.
Every 100th acquisition or so I get a strange spike. This spike can happen at any point and even at low counts so it does not seem to be an overflow problem.
It can also happen at low acquisition rates so there has to be something wrong with my code.
I have attached the normal response and the strange response. The waveform graph shows the output of the acuisition at PFI39 (photon counter).
Any ideas what could be causing this?
I also attach the VI. Sorry it is a bit messy.
Note that the problem is not specific to looping, it can happen at the first iteration.
It seems to happen more often if the acuisition duration is low (say 10kHz sampling, 10 samples, rather than 10kHz sampling nad 10ksamples).

Hello
I guess you could do that!
I would like to see if I could come up with a better solution but I am struggling to understand your code. I see that you are acquiring on 2 channels synchronously, both triggered by you 100Hz source. However, I do not understand how you are detecting the falling edge and using this as a trigger?
This aside, from your code, it seems that you are effectively doing a finite acquisition because you stop the tasks immediately after you read the first set of samples. You will probably avoid the buffer overflow by changing the task type to 'finite samples'. The program will then effectively be performing repeated finite acquisitions.
I hope this helps.

    Hi Guys,
    1) Can anybody tell me which table contains the field CNTRC (short description is Counter Reading) ?
    2) CNTRC is available in the structure RIMR0. In a situation like this, how do we identify the table name?

    Dear Vijay
The counter reading is available in IMRG table in field CNTRR. It is available in exponential form. you need to convert to decimal from using the FM FLTP_CHAR_CONVERSION_FROM_SI

No option is provided for such action.
If you really want the user to enter a value then you need to capture the NULL value from parameter and pass it to template and display a text message accordingly for this case.

    dear guys:
how to generate an Interupt for DMA transfer from Counter on NI-PCI-6602,and I have set the DMA and DMA_INT, and also the global interrupt register.
but there is no Interupt generated in the Interupt callback function. And when I have set the DMA_INT and global interrupt register ,and then read the relevant register, the relevant bit is also 0.
I suspect there is an Interupt register contral, like the MITE, you must write the value to 0xc4 for opening .

  • Total Counter Reading

    Hello Experts,
We have a situation wherein the total counter reading for a measuring point has changed.
On June 27, the user entered the measurement document for a measuring point and we had the following record:
    Counter Reading: 144879.00
    Difference: 129 and
    Total Ctr Reading: 144879.00
On July 03, he entered another measurement document for the same measuring point.
On this day he just entered the difference of 3. However the measurement document reads as follows:
    Counter Reading: 5581.00
    Difference: 3 and
    Total Ctr Reading: 5581.00
We have not been able to simulate this situation. The user did not replace the counter and did not set the total counter reading externally, stiil the total counter reading shows an incorrect value. Also we do not have any counter overflow set.
Please advise how to replicate the isuue.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Check the last measurement document
When you are entering the measurement reading.. did u see the total counter reading as old one...
Have u entered the measurement document in collective method or IK11

  • Spare Parts withdrawal at specific counter reading report

    Dear Sirs,
My client needs to know which spare sparts parts are withdrawn on a certain vehicle at which exact counter reading so i want to find a link between material withdrawn and measurement documents,
    i appreciate any help
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
This report may be a challenge because you need to find the date when the material was issued and maybe the measurement document was created a few days before; how often you have reading on your system?
You can use following tables to create your custom report:
    IMRG      measurement document
    AUFM      Goods movement for order
AFIH     Maintenance order header and equipment
IMPTT      Measurement point and equipment number

PL/SQL can only interact with objects on the local DB Server.
PL/SQL can initiate OS local script via any of the following mechanisms: EXTERNAL PROCEDURE, JAVA, DBMS_SCHEDULER
The local script then will need to launch the remote script.

  • Relevance of primary counter reading

    Dear Friends,
What is the relevance of primary counters in the fleet management equipment master data ? Will the system automatically propose that a equipment is due for maintenance once the primary counter reading reaches or surpasses this odometer replacement or hour replacement reading ?

First of All, What I get from your question is you have a equipment with more than 2 counters.
So, to make preventive maintenance for the equipment, it's depends on your maintenance plan's settings.
    If you use :
Adometer As a counter, you could use Performance-based strategic maintenance plan
Hour as a counter, you could use Time-based strategic maintenance plan
or if you want to get all of the counters or only one of them intact, you can use multiple maintenance planning with multiple counter plan instead.
Please, Correct me if I'm wrong.
    Hope it's gonna help.

  • Read an avi file using "Read from binary file" vi

My question is how to read an avi file using "Read from binary file" vi .
My objective is to create a series of small avi files by using IMAQ AVI write frame with mpeg-4 codec of 2 second long (so 40 frames in each file with 20 fps ) and then send them one by one so as to create a stream of video. The image are grabbed from USB camera. If I read those frames using IMAQ AVI read frame then compression advantage would be lost so I want to read the whole file itself.
I read the avi file using "Read from binary file" with unsigned 8 bit data format and then sent to remote end and save it and then display it, however it didnt work. I later found that if I read an image file using "Read from binary file" with unsigned 8 bit data format and save it in local computer itself , the format would be changed and it would be unrecognizable. Am I doing wrong by reading the file in unsined 8 bit integer format or should I have used any other data types.
I am using Labview 8.5 and Labview vision development module and vision acquisition module 8.5
Your help would be highly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hello,
Check out the (full) help message for "write to binary file"
The "prepend array or string size" input defaults to true, so in your example the data written to the file will have array size information added at the beginning and your output file will be (four bytes) longer than your input file. Wire a False constant to "prepend array or string size" to prevent this happening.

  • Not able to read/write Clobdomain when using weblogic server.

    Hi,
We have a view and one of its attribute is ClobDomain. Earliar we were using OC4J and had no problems in reading/writing this attribute using the entity object. Now we have migrated to Weblogic and the same clobdoamin is written empty. Also two records are inserted in the database. I thought it might be jdbc driver problem and tried to use ojdbc6 driver instead of default driver which is used by Weblogic. But still the same problem
    We are using,
    Jdev version- 10.1.3.4
    Weblogic 10.3
I did lots of google but not find any solution.

I have the jar files for it, where do we need to upload it so that jsp page works.
    Thanks a lot

The user doesn't want to save the excel file in server.
I want to upload file and save its contents in database.
I have the code to read and save excel data in database but not able to get the location to deploy the jar file.
In general, if we are creating a jsp page in MII workbench which is using some jar file.
Whats the location to upload this jar file so that the jsp page works correctly?

  • Strange issue with rights of account, used by SSIS (Foreach Loop Container does not return file names without Admin rights on server)

    Hello everyone.
Faced very strange issue with account, which is used to run SSIS package.
The specific package uses Foreach Loop Container to retrieve file names within the specified folder, and put them into Import file task.
The package is set up to run under specific service account. This service account is given all permissions (Full control) to the folder where source files reside.
So the issue is: SSIS package fails to execute this task (Foreach Loop Container and then Import), and shows that no files are found in the directory (although files ARE there).
Once we're adding the service account into local Administrators group on the SQL Server, it works! Removing - does not work again. We cannot leave the service account as SQL server's admin as it's prohibited by our IT policies, and is just a bad practice.
    Any ideas, please?
