Strange discrepancy

Hey, any reason why an onRelease code would work when testing with Dreamweaver (F12) but not when pasted in to Myspace? I have a link that goes to another site on the animation but when I put it on myspace, the onRelease code doesnt' work..any idea why? Here's the code I'm using:
on(release){
getURL(http://www.examplelink.com, "_blank");
Does that look right to you? is the _blank part maybe affecting it in Myspace? I'm using the HTML box for editing in Myspace btw..

Hi Andrew,
I've checked the sub-totals and apparently, when i double click on a sub-total to drill down to line item lvl, the fig doesn't seem to tie in with what I see in the report painter report. It's real strange that the correct fig appears upon drilling down to line item level but at a higher level, the fig isn't right. It's short of a fig which is in relation to another column.
I've double checked the formula at the sub-total col and all the cols in the formula are present. This is the bizarre thing which I've been trying to resolve for the past few days.

  • Strange discrepancy with adjustment levels

Using CS4 on a MacBookPro with OS 10.6.2.
Being a very experienced user, I suddenly encountered a weird thing that doesn't go away restarting the computer or resetting PS:
When I have the levels dialogue (cmd+l) on the screen, I tweak the settings until I see what I want to see, like always.
HOWEVER, when I then click OK to accept my adjustment, the image CHANGES.
Looks rather similar to switching between RGB and CMYK-preview, or even more drastical.
This makes the whole dialogue completely useless, since what I see is no longer what I get.
Same problem with the other adjustments - curves, saturation.
What I see in preview is NOT what I get after accepting.
I can trick it by using an adjustment layer in stead, since that obviously doesn't involve clicking OK.
BUT! When I than flatten the image or merge the adjustment layer down on to the image layer, the same thing happens: the image changes appearance.
Can't begin to imagine where the problem might lay - anyone got an idea??
Have run this program on this computer with this monitor for some time now, and the strange behaviour just started today, out of the blue.

    Yes, you were right.
With "bizarre" I meant that I never noticed the effect in more than 10 years, having spent probably in the thousands of hours in Photoshop, all the way back to the Stone Age version 4.
In fact, I tried different files and could NOT reproduce the effect, except with the one file that caused my alarm.
It was a shot of a very textured metal surface, and I am of course well aware of the fact that PS cannot depict 16,6% of a pixel, hence the moire and general noise.
I was amazed, however, to see how much of a discrepancy the levels caused at this magnification.
Anyway, point taken, case closed. Thanks.

  • Strange discrepancy in report painter

    Hi everyone,
I've designed a report painter with all the respective columns & formulas intact but at the Grand Total col (summation of all the sub-totals), the figure doesn't tally with all the sub-totals. All sub-totals have been added correctly but when they are added up to the Grand Total, the fig doesn't tie.
Any clues? Have I missed out something?

  • Stuck: Need Disk repair but DVD drive dead and only have USB 1

[1 Ghz flat-panel iMac with USB 1 ports (no USB 2) and also Firewire 400]
I noticed a strange discrepancy (small but concerning) between the size of a folder on hard drive (folder of all mp3's with no subfolders) and the backup of the same folder on a mounted thumb drive.
(The size difference was not due to any invisible .DS_Store files and both folders are displayed in List view format.)
    Disk Utility reports three things:
    1. Incorrect number of thread records
    2. Volume Bit Map needs minor repair
    3. Checking volume information.
Volume free block count",0)   [I might have mangled this line]
(It should be 13438611 instead of 13437937)
Here is the GOOD (but these are useless as explained under the "Bad"):
    - I have a Tiger 10.4 boot DVD for a repair ==>but see below
    - I also have a Disk Warrior disk (never used)
    Here is the BAD:
    - My built-in optical drive [Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-105] is -- I now discover - defunct and DEAD - it does not run the Tiger Boot DVD (in pristine shape).
    - I bought an external SuperDrive (unopened) but I believe no boot from USB 1 is possible in PowerPC so a SuperDrive with USB 1 is useless.
    Questions:
1.) Is there any way to boot from some external source (optical drive is DEAD) to run Disk Utility and/or Disk Warrior? -- I see none in this case! (gulp).
2.) More importantly (and this is my fundamental concern): Do the three Disk Utility hard drive issues constitute any direct threat to the integrity of my files?
I have almost everything backed up to duplicate thumb drives over these many months as standard practice.
Are these Disk Utility errors fully isolated to hard drive directory-keeping...or do these directory damage errors pose the possibility of mangling or harming my files or their metadata (filesize, etc.).
Put another way, when files are backed-up from a hard drive under the Disk Utility reports above, do they remain unharmed and undamaged by the situations reported by Disk Utility?
    Thanks,
    Bill

    Jeff and Michael,
Thank you both for your generous and thoughtful input.
Michael: As I slept on it overnight, the exact same idea occurred to me of trying a Target Mode to the iMac from my Lion MacbookPro (I have it but stupidly have yet to use it much!).
I did buy a Firewire 800 (MBP) to Firewire 400 (iMac) adapter cable a few months ago!
CONCERN: Would there be potential compatibility issues or risks in running Lion 10.7's Disk Utility against the hard drive of the old OSX 10.4 iMac in Target Disk Mode?
==> Assuming an "it's ok" answer to the Target Disk question, would the majority of users agree that the Target Disk Mode would be more prudent than running:
fsck -fy   in Single User Mode
I have never done fsck -fy before especially because I was under the impression there were issues with Journaled drived but from what I have read today...it looks ok to do)
Jeff: Can't thank you enough for the reference to the OTW DVD drive. I might first invest $10 in one of those DVD lens cleaner disks that I've read about. It's probably not the issue or else why would the drive read commercial Music cds perfectly well!
    Thanks,
    Bilil

  • What's the general consensus regarding Generics in Java?

Just curious what folks think about how it's implemented in Java and whether you're in favor of it or not (not that it will make any difference).
I haven't been using it yet because I am still working on 1.4.x, but I've been familiarizing myself as best as I can with how to use them.
I realize they fill an important need, but I am not convinced they were/are worth the rather steep price paid for readability.
Curious to get others opinions on this. Regards,

So "new MyWrapper(aString)" is untyped, we need to
    use "new MyWrapper<String>(aString)" whichviolates
the principle of Dont-repeat-yourself.I don't think so... what if I wanted to create
    something like this?
new MyWrapper<Number>(new Integer(4))That's still possible. My problem is that it works exactly as I'd like it to work as long as I call a method, but not when I instanciate a new object. Let's assume for a second that MyWrapper has a static generic method createWrapper() that just calls the constructor:
    public class MyWrapper<T> {
         private T foo;
         public MyWrapper(T foo) {
              this.foo = foo;
         public T getFoo() {
              return foo;
         public static <WT,VT extends WT> MyWrapper<WT> createWrapper(VT foo) {
              return new MyWrapper<WT>(foo);
}Here WT is the generic type of the returned wrapper (WrapperType) and VT is the type of the value(ValueType).
Now we see a strange discrepancy on how the object instanciation ("call of a constructor", so to speak) works and how calling another Method works:
    MyWrapper<Integer> i1 = new MyWrapper(Integer.valueOf(1)); //unsafe, not infered
    MyWrapper<Integer> i2 = MyWrapper.createWrapper(Integer.valueOf(1)); //ok, everything fine
    MyWrapper<Number> n1 = new MyWrapper(Integer.valueOf(1)); //unsafe, not infered
MyWrapper<Number> n2 = MyWrapper.createWrapper(Integer.valueOf(1)); //ok, everything fineIf you compile this code (or simply paste it in any modern IDE) you'll see that you'll get warning in the two lines calling the constructor. While the lines calling createWrapper() seem ok. So somehow the compiler can infer the type information when calling a method but can't do that when calling a constructor. That's what's troubling me.

  • Hostname enigma

I was having some problems with Time Machine, and I had read somewhere that hostnames with non-alphanumeric characters were causing problems, so I changed my hostname. The 10.4-era hostname was "big-spring". I changed it to "bigspring" in the Sharing Pref Pane. At the time, I noted a strange discrepancy: though the name was changed, the "Windows Sharing is On" line indicated the old FQND: smb://big-spring.krm.
When Time Machine backs up, it creates the file named "bigspring_macaddress.sparsebundle", NOT "big-spring_macaddress.sparsebundle".
    Meanwhile, in terminal,
    $hostname
    big-spring.krm
    Strange.
Since everything worked, I let it be. Today I tried to configure a new program, in which I am required to specify my hostname. I specified "bigspring", and got an error message.
The upshot of all this is that it is clear that when I changed the name in Sharing Pref Pane, I didn't actually change the hostname of my system, at least not according to the core Unix networking framework. The problem was resolved with a simple
    sudo hostname bigspring
but the question lingers: what actually happens when you change the Sharing Pref Pane name?

    Sledge hammer, meet nut?!
    ssh user@my-n900:
    ~ $
The hostname isn't normally in the prompt..
So... if you're that concerned, edit the prompt to a static string.. or better still, edit the shell profile to set the prompt according to advertised bluetooth node name! (Script to follow)
This makes it a cosmetic change, and is only visible during interactive shells.. guaranteed not to wreck anything else
Changing the hostname might have other repercussions as it is used in other parts of the OS..
As for bad practice.. the N900 has a hostname.. it just isn't unique between N900s.. What's more.. the N900 doesn't rely on or change the hostname as the network changes.. I guess this is important for a device that connects to numerous different networks.. and occasionally two or more at the same time (3G and wifi for example)
I think it is better practise, personally, to change things that don't require root privs rather than change things that do
I suspect it is safe, but still!
my original point was, there should be no need to change it..

  • Audio elements in CS6

I just recently upgraded my suite from Encore CS5.0 to 6.01 (on a Mac).
When I started a new dvd project and imported all my pre-encoded/compliant elements, the stereo WAV file said Untranscoded under the blu-ray transcode status.  Normally this wouldn't matter since I was making a dvd, but I had just made a blu-ray the other day using this same audio file in CS5 and I was pretty sure that it said Don't Transcode when I was making that.
Sure enough, when I opened the old bd project in CS5, the elements said Don't Transcode in both the dvd and bd status columns.  When I opened the project in CS6, it said Untranscoded in the bd status, and I was unable to pick Do Not Transcode in the Properties tab.
As a test, I duplicated the file in Finder and dragged it into a new project.  The copy said Do Not Transcode across the board in both Encore versions.  ????
Anybody else having trouble with how CS6 is seeing audio files?  This could just be some strange fluke, but there were definitely different results based on the Encore version.
    Randy.

Mylenium.  Thanks for the reply.  There may be something to what you suggest, but there's still a bit of weirdness.
With the couple tests I did just now with totally new projects saved  in a completely different location from each other, it seemed that the transcode status was dependent on the version of Encore AND what was originally selected for the project settings.  If blu-ray was selected for the project setting, then both Encore versions showed Do Not Transcode across the board in both the bd and dvd status columns.  If dvd was selected for the project setting when starting a new project, then CS5 said Do Not Transcode, and CS6 said Untranscoded (like the graphic above).  Going into the project settings and changing it to blu-ray did not help change that status.
HOWEVER, I can only duplicate this strange discrepancy by doing these magical steps in this exact order:
    - first opening a CS5 project in CS5, closing - don't save, quitting Encore
    - opening that same project in CS6, closing - don't save
    - start new dvd project in CS6, (pointed to new or same save location as other project), drag in same audio files used in other project
At that point, deleting the files in the project, deleting cache folder, and cleaning Media Cache Database all seem to not help.  If I drag those audio files in again, some will now say Untranscoded when they really should be good to go.  Quitting and reopening CS6 fixes this.
Basically just don't do those steps.

  • Thumbnail/Picture discrepancies and scrolling wonkiness

I scanned a bunch of old pictures, added them to iphoto, and now there is a strange discrepancy between the thumbnails and the photos.  Depending on the size of the thumbnail (controlled by the zoom in the lower left corner) the thumbnail either doesn't match the picture at all (when the thumbnails are at the smallest size) or it matches until you scroll, and as you scroll the new pictures coming onto the screen have the wrong thumbnail before resolving into the correct one.  It makes scrolling through pictures to search for images impossible as you aren't seeing the pictures, merely thumbnails of other pictures until you stop, when they all change back to the correct thumbnail (at the larger zoom sizes).
I am using a 27", Late 2009 iMac (2.8 GHz Intel Core i7) with 16 GB DDR3 Ram and an ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB video card.  I am using iPhoto 9.6.  However, I doubt it is machine related as there was no issue before adding the scanned pictures, and all of the digital pictures I have do not experience the same issue.
I have deleted the plist for iPhoto with no change in symptoms.
My question - is there a way to "rebuild" the thumbnails, or do you know anyway to prevent this craziness?

Thx.  I held down command option while starting up and chose instead to rebuild the thumbnails, which did the job nicely, although it took a couple of hours with my 145GB library.
    Thx again.

  • What is Ariba's order to pay Discount (Pay me Now)?

What is Ariba's order to pay Discount (Pay me Now)?
How it is working in real time scenario?

    That is not strictly correct.
You need iTunes Match if you want to play matched/purchased Music from the Cloud.
It is not required to play media from your local iTunes library which is accessed via Home Sharing on LAN from the computer running that iTunes library - access under Computers>iTunes Name>Music.  This of course requires computer and itunes to be running on the LAN.
What is bizarre to me though is that there is a strange discrepancy with cloud services.
You can play purchased movies/TV shows from the cloud but NOT purchased music unless you also have iTunes Match - faire enough to require itunes Match for non itunes purchased music to be in the cloud but not for actual purchases.
In addition the original silver/grey AppleTV with proper storage allowed you to browse/preview/purchase Music as well as TV Shows and Movies.  I do not understand the reason for not having a browsable music store as there is on all other iOS based devices.

  • Mpi Send / Receive Comm Time with IO Streams

I'm currently benchmarking Mpi like software on a cluster and I ran into a strange discrepency in communication time.
For simplicity here, I'll be referring to simple synchronous send / receive commands in which 8 bytes of data are sent or received during each command.
In a two compartment case, the compartments are connected via a Socket and the input/output streams are pulled from the socket. In the most simple case, compartment 1 sends a double value to compartment 2, and this repeats 1e6 times. In doing this the average communication time per send / receive operation is about 1 microsecond.
In the next more complex case, compartment 1 sends a double value to compartment 2, then compartment 2 sends that double value back to compartment 1.
This is where communication time increases to 10 microseconds (on the same Compute Node) or up to 100 microseconds (inbetween different Copute Nodes).
At first I was doing the send and receive on the same socket using it's input and outputstreams. To make sure that wasn't a bottleneck, I separated the 2way communication into two different sockets, but that large communication time still existed. (No significant change).
With one-way communication, even with the blocking send/receive methods, communication is still remarkebly fast (1 us). So what I'm trying to figure out is: why does this increase 100 times when doing a send & receive, then the reverse operation?

Looks like low entropy could be the cause. Here are some useful links:

How would I set up the server so that rngd feeds /dev/random with entropy from /dev/urandom, such that this modification sticks upon reboot (so I don't need to remember to execute some command line statement upon every reboot)?

  • Incredibly strange file size discrepancy only appears in image files (jpg, gif, png)!

I'm creating a bunch of banners for google ads, yahoo ads, ...etc in Photoshop on my Mac OS!
The .gif files of these banners appear to TRIPLE in size when on the MAC (>150KB), but when transferred to windows; the real file size shows correctly! (<50KB)
It is not a result of the base2 vs base10 discrepancy since the difference in size is simply too big, and it only happens with files created on Photoshop on my Mac.
The reason I know that windows is showing the correct size while my Mac OS is displaying the wrong size, is that the file gets approved by google and yahoo ads, even though Mac OS shows that it surpasses the size limit (50KB) three times over!
This isn't an isolated incident either, all image files created in Photoshop on the MAC continue this weird behaviour! However, files downloaded from the net appear to be consistent on both operating systems!
One example is the attached screenshot:
    Explanation, please??

Geez, sorry I offended you Mr. Jobs (incarnate)!
You came in here with a three ton chip on your shoulders. Did you really expect sunshine and puppies in return?
No, I expected useful help, and I got it from Jeffrey Jones. Thanks again Jeffrey!
I mean, when you move or upload it, it loses this data association anyways!
To a drive which doesn't support Apple's AB tree structure (NTFS, FAT, FAT32, exFAT), yes. To another HFS+ drive, no.
What about uploading the file to the cloud?? Does it lose this association or not?? And does anyone really care about the data in the Resource fork?
This "Resource Fork" means nothing to the file owner, only to the OS and the Drive. Therefore, it shouldn't be added to the total. Period. Because its not part of the file, its part of Apple's tree structure! This is really a simple concept, not sure why you are bending over backwords to defend a clearly stupid oversight from apple!
There's no reason to force me to use the command line to get the real file size of a GIF! There's just no excuse for that!
If an OS is saying it is fetching file size information for a single file, it should do exactly that! Not add hidden Resource Forks that are part of the OS's internal workings
OS X is fetching the file size. It's file size, not the way a different OS would report it.
There is no such thing as it's file size. A file size is a file size, accross all platforms, on the cloud, wherever!
A GIF file should have the same file size whether its on windows, linux, unix, darwin, freeBSD, or anything else. The only time its weight should vary is in outer space!
That is why I'm surprised that they are breaking simple UI Design rules.
The User Interface has nothing to do with the file structure of a drive.
I don't care about the structure of the drive!! Neither should you, neither should the average user!
A good UI should NOT concern the user with this! The average user doesn't care about these Resource Forks, and will never try to view them, therefore, there is no logical reason to add up their file sizes to the total size of each file, and then to make things worse, hide that fact! That only creates confusion, and it makes it so much harder for a designer like myself to view the REAL file sizes of my image files! Now, whenever I'm on my MAC, I will have to run command line scripts to be able to see if my GIF files (that I work on EVERYDAY) meet the file size quota, because Mac OS adds up hidden files that I have no use for and gives me the WRONG file size!
Let's say this again: when you select a file and click get info, you should get the info for the file you selcted. Nothing more, nothing less! I don't care if the file structure creates an entire colony of hidden files, they should be completely hidden to me, and if not, the Get Info dialog box should at least give me two sizes, one is the REAL file size, and the other is the added up file size for the Resource Fork as well (although I can't think of any good reason why it should add up the Resource Fork size anyways)!
do you think it is at all logical, that when you select 300 or so files, and click Get Info, that it open 300 windows at once each showing separate information for each file? Or does it make a lot more sense, intuitively, to get the total tally of all the files selected added up, without having to hold down shortcut keys when clicking them to do so?
Yes, it is logical because that's what you, the user, told the OS to do. You wanted the Get Info data on 300 individual items. I don't know about you, but I avoid the menu bar as much as possible (your reference to avoiding shortcut keys). Command+I will always give you singular Get Info dialogue boxes.
No, that's not what I told the OS to do. I selected 300 files cumulatively, therefore, I should get the cumulative info for all the selected files. That's just common sense. Every other OS seems to get this!
And I'm hard pressed to find anyone who has found a use for having 300 get info boxes open at the same time. Therefore, that shouldn't be the default.
Will you start defending apple's decision to stick with the one button mouse for all these years depriving us from the all important context menu as well?? There was absolutely no good reason to do that, just as there is absolutely no good reason to do this!

  • Discrepancy with size between tables..strange..

    hey there,
i'm building a header, and i have two tables, one on top of
another. now, in dreamweaver..the space between these two tables is
nil, but when i do a preview, there seems to be a bunch of space
between the two elements (the element on top is an image and the
element on the bottom is typed text, both are within tables). now,
what i don't understand, is how can there be extra space in the
browser when the two tables are slammed against each other in the
program and they look really close together in the program?!? how
do i fix this? and this isn't just some 'little' space..the space
in the internet browser is too noticeable, but it looks great in
    DW.
    help..

    <!--DWLayoutTable-->
In my opinion, there are three serious problems with Layout
    Mode -
    1. Perhaps most importantly, it sits between you and *real*
    HTML tables,
and fools you into believing that concepts like "layout cell"
    and
"autostretch" really mean something. They do not. As long as
    you use
Layout Mode, you'll never learn one of the most important
    things for new web
developers - how to build solid and reliable tables.
    2. Actually, #1 wouldn't be *so* bad, except that the code
    that is written
by Layout Mode is really poor code. For example, a layout
    table contains
MANY empty rows of cells. This can contribute to a table's
    instability.
In addition, if your initial positioning of the table's cells
    is a bit
    complex,
Layout Mode will throw in col- and rowspans aplenty as it
    merges and splits
cells willy-nillly to achieve the pixel-perfect layout you
    have specified.
    Again,
this is an extremely poor method for building stable tables,
    because it
    allows
changes in one tiny cell's shape (i.e, dimensions) to ripple
    through the
    rest
of the table, usually with unexpected and sometimes
    disastrous consequences.
This is one of the primary reasons for the final result's
    fragility - read
    this -
    http://apptools.com/rants/spans.php
    3. The UI for Layout Mode is beyond confusing - many options
    that you might
want to use are inaccessible, e.g., inserting another table,
    or layer onto
    the page.
I can understand the new user's desire to use this tool to
    make their life
    easier,
but the cost is just too heavy in my opinion.
To make good tables, keep it simple. Put a table on the page,
    and begin to
load your content. If you would want a different table
    layout, instead of
merging or splitting cells, consider stacking tables or
    nesting simple
    tables instead, respectively.
And above all, do not try to build the whole page with a
    single table!
Luckily, Adobe understands the problems created for the
    unsuspecting user
who falls into this trap, and has elected to remove this
    feature altogether
from the next version of DW. The time is right for you to
    begin working
    with tables properly!
To read more about this approach, visit the DW FAQ link in my
    sig, and run
    through the table tutorials.
With regard to your specific problem -
    <h1 class="style1"><img src="OrangeBackground.jpg"
    width="558"
    height="73"></h1>
Since the <h#> tags are intended to be used for
    readable information, there
is really no reason to ever place them around just an image.
    What you are
seeing is likely the margins around that <h1> tag. Try
    removing it.

  • Strange color discrepancy with the rectangle generator

I tried to use a Rectangle video generator to make a quick-and-dirty border for an overlaid element that resides on another video track. In the Controls tab for the generator, I set the softness to zero and used the color picker tool to pick out the corporate-official shade of blue from an element on the canvas. It didn't match, not even close. See this screengrab:
    http://elamaton.no-ip.com/~jarkko/color_discrepancy.png
The inner, darker blue is the result I got when I color-picked the outer, lighter blue shape. If I now color-pick the inner, darker blue, essentially choosing the color for the blue from itself, it turns even darker. Somehow, the generator doesn't produce the color one expects it to, but a darker one instead. Is this normal, intended behavior? I found no mention of it in the manual.
(Note: I eventually replaced the rectangle generator with a solid color generator, which produced the correct color and was easily resized, so I now have a functioning border. Still, I'd like to know if anyone knows why the rectangle generator's color is different.)

    Hi Lifelles,
    Interesting problem you have.
No solution, only give this Feedback to Apple.
Apperantly the generator is designed poorly.

  • Master control attribute value discrepency between Master and child org.

    Hi Guru,
We are facing a strange issue in Track install Base Attribute values. There are some 60K item having discrepency in the value of the this attribute between master and child.
We are wondering how it happens as this attribute is master controlled one and we never changed this attribute control and kept as Master controlled. The master value is true
If you guys experience this issue, please let us know the solution that you had applied to fix this issue.

Try executing the vo1 query before setting the bind variable for vo2, then execute the vo2 query (if that's what you want to do).

  • HELP!  Strange sync issue

This is by far the strangest problem I have come upon and
can't find anything in any forum discussing it. My site is
www.aloversscent.com. We are trying to put up 4 videos. I am
editing in FCP and compressing in Compressor to H.264 and then
making the files flv files to bring directly into Flash. All of
them are working fine except for our third episode, Operation Fox
Hunt. The audio sync is going off when the title cards come up,
about a 1/3 of the way through the video and only then. I went back
and made new exports where I tried filling in the blank audio
pieces under the cards with Slugs, I tried creating the title in
LiveType and then transfering it over instead of using the FCP
title cards. But neither worked. The strange thing is they work
fine when I play them in Quicktime. It's only when they play in
Flash that they get out of sync. If you scrub through the timeline
they will sometimes match back up again but while playing they
always get out of sync. I have run out of answers and need help
bad. Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Naw, just tell us what your sequence settings are and what your original codecs are or were. It's easy to transcode or to shoot incompatible or wrong audio sampling rates.
Clip: HDV 1080i60, 1440x1080, Upper field first; Linear PCM 24-bit 44.1khz
Sequence setting: all standard easy setup for HDV 1080i60
The difference between 2 and 20 percent is a complete order of magnitude and that kind of discrepancy sends us to totally divergent debugging paths and wildly silly suggested workarounds.
You are right. My initial wrong judgement was based on which selection I thought I was seeing at the time.
If you convert, as Christina suggests, you may still need to alter the speed of your audio track to match the length of the video.
The audio is not the only problem. Even with no audio (just a video track extracted by QT or MpegStreamclip and saved as a self-contained movie) the video stops short; i.e. by minute 10 of a 10' clip material from earlier is still playing, and the rest is missing. All other apps see the video just fine.
I already tried converting the audio to the proper rate in QT and recombining the two. But again, this problem with the video is there with the audio stripped as well.
Oh, and also: the problem is there in the viewer as well, before adding it to the timeline.
