Strange e4200 FTP problem

I have an odd problem with the FTP server. I currently hooked up a 250GB portable HDD which is formatted in NTFS. A single folder in the root of the drive is mounted as the FTP server. Every time I upload a zip or far, the file comes out ends up being uploaded corrupt and double the original file size. I have used 2 FTP clients, using either ASCII or binary. No matter how I go about it, I can't make the files upload at the normal file size. Its not just archives, however, I tried an mp3 and it too got uploaded corrupt and double the size. I then downloaded the mp3 to try and play it but it didn't play in windows media player. However I loaded the 'corrupt mp3 into audacity and the file played like normal. I have no idea what to do at this point, aside from returning the device. Having FTP capabilities in my router is very important, so any help would be much appreciated.

You are not alone.  I am having problems with the ftp server also.  I didn't know whether it was the camera or the disk drives I was trying but you have confirmed that there is a problem.  Here are some of my observations:
Bad harddrive formatting: the harddrive connection is not very consistent.  I even let the e4200 format the drive itself (to FAT) and that was inconsistent.  Sometimes it would see it as useable and sometimes not.
Odd files created: as I was setting up the server with a FAT32 disk, I would get directories of gibberish: very large files with unprintable names.
Corrupted JPEGs: I hooked a DLink network camera into the mix and went with another disk and do get JPEGs from the camera but most of them are corrupt and don't open.  The ones that do open are jumbled and have blank places in the images (sort of correlates with your mp3's being slightly useable.
Nice idea for a router, but unfortunately, less than functional.
My configuration:
Camera: DLINK DCS-930L (tried both wired and wireless, ftp both passive and active, tried single transfer and multiple transfers)
Harddrives: selfpowered Seagate FreeAgentGo (250GB, FAT32), Seagate FreeAgent (500GB, NTFS)
CISCO E4200 with latest firmware(v1.02 -- downloaded yesterday)
Computer (shouldn't matter?) Toshiba running XP-tablet.
I hope this helps them troubleshoot this.

    Hi,
I have a little problem with my NAS200. When I try to connect to ftp, I got an error like this:
200 transfer type changed to ascii
    227 entering passive mode
    Whats wrong ?

Hi gieras. Has this worked before? Have you tried to access it using another computer? Possble reason why you can't access it is Windows firewall settings on your computer. I am not really familiar with the error codes that you mentioned but I've read another post here that may help: https://community.linksys.com/t5/Network-Storage/NAS200-FTP-Problem/td-p/120996

  • FTP Problems with Dreamweaver 8

The webmaster for the library I work for recently had
difficulty with her computer. She did a system restore from her
discs, and, after that, reinstalled Dreamweaver 8. She sent me an
email to let me know she needed my assistance setting her DW FTP
    back up.
While her computer was down I decided to reorganize the
website files. There were dozens of old files and most of the
images and html were scattered throught the main part of the file
tree. She really liked the changes, but, after connecting her to
the site and downloading all the files, a problem arose.
Once she got her laptop back home every time she'd connect to
the FTP she got a group of folders named "Windows, Linux,
Speedtest" and a few others. I contacted our webhost and they told
me this meant she was logging in anonymously. We have our login
name and password in correctly, though, so this shouldn't happen.
No one at our ISP could help me do to them not being familiar with
    Dreamweaver.
After playing around with the machine a bit I found that if I
deleted the site from the FTP and re-did it using the same folders
then the first connection was succesful. But, after disconnecting,
    the same problem happens again.
I found this article and wondered if it could be causing our
    problem.
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=3491671c
The only thing that makes me think it might not be is the
fact that our login and password stays in the box, but, for some
reason, the FTP is connecting anonymously. Could her doing a
recovery have led to this? Maybe there's an update she needs to
apply that she didn't get after doing the recovery?

It's hard to know what kind of things happened with your
    moving stuff around
    outside of DW.
Suffice it to say that most FTP problems are router/firewall
    related. Does
    this help at all?

  • I have a strange 3g data problem.

I have a strange 3g data problem.  At home I have zero 3G connectivity even though all bars are showing and says "3G" and wifi is "Off" ... unless I am on the phone and then magically the 3G data connection works perfectly!!  Does anyone have any idea what is happening?  Also when I bring my phone to my dad's or my friends house the problem disappears!! Is this a hardware or a AT&T network problem? os is 4.3.3
Also called ATT and they said there was no problem with the network and that it was a hardware issue.  Also restored the phone several times but the problem did not go away.

OK, no trouble shooting. The first thing I'd attempt is restarting in Safe Mode. If you still don't have luck try doing both a SMC and PRAM reset, it wouldn't hurt to do the SMC reset a couple of times. If still no luck let us know.
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • E4200 v1- problem creating a shared folder for the FTP server.

    Hi,
I'm trying to share an external USB harddrive (4TB- HFS+) that is attached to my e4200 router.  I'm trying to set up the FTP server, but when I try to create a shared folder, I get kicked out of the browser based interface for the router just as I'm trying to save the new shared drive.  I have tried many different things to get it to work: different computers (PC and Mac) different browsers, reflashing the firmware (which is version 1.0.06, build 3), I tried all of this with an NTFS formatted drive as well-  everytime I try to set up the shared folder- right as I hit the save button it kicks me out saying: Session Failure.
I can see my drive on the local network, and I know the FTP server is working, because I can log into it from the outside- but I don't see anything shared, when I do.
I have successfully gotten the media server to work using the same drive- but I can't create shared folder there either...  It seems to have shared the entire disk automatically when I first connected the drive to the router.
Anybody have anything else for me to try?
    Help!

Same problem. Has anyone found a solution? I contacted tech support and got nonsense responses. I was of course asked to Factory Reset even though I told them I had done it before I called - classic brush off. Basicly here is the problem.
    1. I cannot create a share on a USB connected HDD - this worked on the older Firmware. Now every time I try to set up the shared folder- right as I hit the save button it kicks me out saying: Session Failure. I am not the only person with the problem. Crazy thing is I had a share created and it worked after the upgrade. I wanted to add an additional share and now it wont share anything. HDD plugged into my PC works great. I was asked to try a different PC - even though I told them I tried from IE, Chrome, Firefox on a Windows 7, Vista, windows XP, IPad, Kindle and Samsung phone.
    2. While troubleshooting with the agent I discovered that although I have remote access disabled in the Administration>Management page but I can still access the router remotely. This is a huge security issue.
    3. Linksys is no longer a Cisco Company - if the code is this bad Belkin should take the Cisco logo out of the GUI. Don’t blame Cisco for your poor SW.
I am ready to buy a new router and avoid Linksys and Belkin all together in light of these issues.
Additionally, I would simply downgrade but the older Firmware is not available. When I asked for it I was told I could not get it.

  • Very strange E4200 Router Connection problems

So Pretty much everything about my router and internet works just fine.
But a week and a half ago, I was suddenly unable to access a website I'd been visiting for years. it's a phpbb forum that's hosted by a friend for a small online community I'm a member of. When I try to access the forum, I get "Could not determine your IP address".
I tried rebooting the network. That didn't work. I put up with it for awhile, but now I am also unable to access another website I frequently use as well, and that error is simply "Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to wowhead.com".
I've tried both websites on multiple browsers and resetting the modem, and router, and clearing my cache and rebooting my computer doesn't seem to work.
Now here's where it gets weird.
I restored my router to factory settings in hope that this might work and it did! For a few minutes I was able to access those websites without a problem, but then my entire intrenet hiccuped hard for a second and now I cannot access them again.
So I reset the router back to default again and it didn't work at all. I couldn't access the websites again at all.
The difference is, the first time arround I disabled the WMM support because my dad likes to stream HBO a lot and it sucks more bandwidth than he needs to do it, so I had it disabled before the first reset(And disabling it did not originally coinside with being unable to access those websites, I disabled the WMM support months and months ago and was able to access those websites just fine for a long time.) WMM is currently active again and after a third reset, the only configurations I have changed are adding a pass word to the wireless connection. (I selected WPA2 Personal encryption, I don't have the CD set up any more, so I opted to activate it the old fashioned way.)
Now the other weird thing, well this looks weird to me at least, is my ping results to google.
    http://i41.tinypic.com/5ofbr5.jpg
Now I don't know if they changed something recently, but it didn't used to do that.
Any ways my Firmware is 1.0.05
I hope I've given sufficient information. I'm not sure what else to do at this point except buy a new Router. I've had this one for over a year now. I'd hate to think their 180 dollar router only has a one year shelf life.

    Hmm small update
google is telling me my ip address is some strange long string of numbers and letters.
"Your public IP address is 2605:6000:150b:4004:ac96:6419:b590:c635"
This might be why I am unable to access these websites.
also strangely, since I started messing with my network, my IP address has changed? I'm running on Cable, I was pretty sure Cable IP's were static. How bizzare.

  • Dreamweaver CC - FTP problem to access

I´m having some problems to upload files with my Dreamweaver CC.
Every time I try to upload something to the root of my FTP, I get an error message, meanwhile  I try to upload to a sub-folder I don`t get any.
You may think that it's a FTP permission issue, but I have check with my provider, made some test and it seems that there is not the problem.
But more strange is that I also have Adobe CS5, and with this one I can upload my files to root without any problem. I have checked both configurations and they are exactly the same (obviously same host, user, pass… etc.).
Do you have any idea where could I have the problem?
Thank you very much for your support

Hi. Is there any progress in solving this problem?
    The error message:

  • Ftp too slow: pharlap and linux ftp problem

    Hi all,
    my problem seems very strange.
I work with a rt system (PXI 8187 with pharlap os). I have to retrieve several log files that can be very heavy (100 MB or more).
When I retrieve these files using Internet Explorer the ftp has a transfer rate of 500 KB/s ca. If I use SUSE Linux the transfer rate is 10 KB/s, that is not acceptable.
Moreover if I use a windows client onto SUSE Linux (using VMWare) the client present a transfer rate of 500 KB/s.
Finally the SUSE ftp client can retrieve from other FTP server (Linux) with a good transfer rate (1 MB/s).
So I can't understang where is the problem: windows can retrieve from pharlap, linux can retrieve from linux, windows onto linux can retrieve from pharlap, linux CAN'T (because too slow) retrieve from pharlap.
    can someone help us?
    thanks all.

    Hi Anmol,
That's an interesting issue, I currently have some cRIO's sitting on my desk and would love to help you get to the bottom of this issue, could you let me know a few things:
    1. Operating systems the same?
    2. cRIO controller model & revision (revision is the first letter in the part number i.e. 111111C-00L would be rev C)
    3. Network speeds of both laptop ethernet ports & the chipsets for these (via device manager)
    4. Do you have another PC you could check this on to narrow it down to the laptop
    5. Have you always had this issue?
    Thanks,

  • FTP problem - FTPEx: No such file

    Hello,
I have a file adapter that has been working "normally" for some time. However recently I have discovered some errors with it. The polling of files stops and I get the following error message:
Error: Processing interrupted due to error: FTPEx: No such file.
When I log into the ftp site using another tool like WS_FTP I can see a lot of files in the directory. If I do a rename to the first file in the directory then the polling of files will start again and work normally.
It's a rather strange behavior since the adapter then can work as normal for a week or more before the problem happens again.
If you know anything about why this might occur and how to solve it, please respond.
    Thanks,
    Per

    Thanks for your replies!
The problem has happened with both Per File Transfer and Permanently so I don't think the problem lays there.
About using . (star dot star). There are two different file types in the folder, and they are picked with their own adapter. The problem only happens with one of the adapters and not the other. Today I pick them up like this:
    CAL*
    DAL*
It's always CAL that goes wrong. I could change it to CAL. if you think that would make a difference. I have also looked at the note mention and will add the timeout to it.

  • Remote and Testing Server FTP Problems

I have a Dreamweaver site defined. I have an 2 domains and 2
FTP accounts. I am using one for my remote server and one for my
testing server. When I go to preview, it uploads the file to the
remote server instead of the testing server. Then it goes and tries
to view the file on the testing server and there is a file not
found error. If I try the same thing but use 2 network drives or 1
network drive and 1 FTP account (remote or testing), everything
works as expected. Any ideas why this happens?

Sounds like you are properly configured. I don't have a good
    idea why this
    is not working....

  • Dreamweaver 8 FTP problem

    Hi,
I have updated from Dreamweaver MX 2004 to Dreamweaver 8.0.2
three days ago. Everything went well with that update.
Dreamweaver 8 has kept my old FTP data so I was able to
connect without problem to my server and work flawlessly with my
files. But today, I thought it could be a good idea to refresh my
FTP data, so I have removed it and build new FTP server data inside
Dreamweaver 8. -- Now I can connect to the server, but I have lost
all my links to my folders, etc. Pictures are not displayed anymore
until I have to write the full path
    http://www.etc.etc/etc to relink
    to my folders.
Do anybody knows why, without having changing the links into
my site, dreamweaver doesn't recognize the relative path that links
to my folder? FYI, every .html, .js and .css files are placed
inside the same root folder, my pictures are placed in sub folders
    in the same root.
    Best Regards

    > After having installed the FTP part,
    > the local preview mode has cut access to almost all my
    files???.
Not possible unless you made some mistake. Did you by chance
    create a
TESTING server as well? I have seen some people duplicate the
    Remote site
settings for the testing server - and that would be a
    problem.

DW8 does allow this approach, but it's a very dangerous mode
    to work in -
particularly if you are not too sure about what DW is doing.

  • File to File scenario using Transport Protocol FTP  Problem

    Hi,
my scenario is a file to file scenario using Transport Protocol FTP
    there are 3 systems involved
    a. computer 1 ( My system-source)
    b. computer 2 (XI server)
    c. computer 3 (Target system)
I want XI to pick file from computer 1 and post it to computer 3
I am logging on to XI server from computer 1(thro SAP GUI),
    <u><b>Sender communication  channel :</b></u>
    Transport protocol:FTP
    Messsage protocol: file
    <u><b>In FTP connection Parameters:</b></u>
    Server: computer 1 IP address
    port:21
User name and PW---> I have given computer 1 Username and password.
    Connection mode: permanently
    Transfer mode: Binary
    Folder: C:\ftproot\output
    filename : given
    <u><b>In Receiver Communication Channel</b></u>
    Transport protocol:FTP
    Message protocol: file
    <u><b>In FTP connection Parameters:</b></u>
    Server: computer 3 IP address
    port:21
User name and PW---> I have given computer 3 Username and password.
    Connection mode: permanently
    Transfer mode: Binary
    Put File: Use Temporary File
    Folder:
    eccserver\saploc\tmp
    filename scheme: given
When I activate the scenario file is not getting picked from the source
In Adapter Framework: Message says up and running No message processing now
How to check FTP server is up and running on computer 1 (source system)and Computer 2 (XI server)?
What could be the problem ?
    Thanks
    dushanth

    Hi
Consider that I dont have FTP installed on my computer. According to this blog
    /people/shabarish.vijayakumar/blog/2006/08/01/along-came-a-file-adapter-mr-ftp-and-rest-of-the-gang
    I have configured.
In sender comm channel I have given Ipaddress of computer 1 (which has a file to be picked)
In Receiver Comm channel I have given IP address of computer 3 (in which file to be posted)
and computer 2 is the XI server
    Computer 1 has FTP installed
    1. XI server should have FTP installed or not ? IF yes is it FTP client  or FTP server   or Guild FTP (according to the blog is enough)
    2. Computer 3 should have FTP installed or not ?
Please help me I am really confused.
    Thanks
    dushanth

  • Dreamweaver 8 on INtel Mac ftp problems????

The basic setup: I have an emac, installed Dreamweaver 8 (actually the entire studio package), it works fine. I want to move our webpage to a new imac (intel). I've copied the files, installed Dreamweaver 8, done the set up for the site.
The problem is: I can't get the FTP connection to work. Whether I'm in the SIte Management section, the TEST part, or trying to connect (with the little electric plug icon), I get this message...a file activity window opens, "An FTP error occured -- Cannot make connection to host. Dreaweaver could not connect because the serve is down or not accepting connections."
Things I've tried: I've explored diligently the Adobe/Dreamweaver website.
I've deleted the Files for Dreamweaver, the web site files from the local host, I've tested the connection using other FTP methods (safari -- a test suggested by Adobe or FEtch); I read some of the posts here after searching for Dreamweaver/Intel items. The server is not down since I've been able to connect an upload from another computer; the computer does perform FTP using other methods...which I suppose I can do...but it makes an extra step.
    I"ve tried using Passive FTP or not; I've tried everything I can think of...or suggested by outside sources (adobe, an instructor who teaches Dreamweaver, the Apple forums here); I modified the Hard drive name to eliminate spaces;
I've come to the conclusion it is more an "Apple" issue rather than a Dreamweaver issue.
I'm using the Dreamweaver on an emac and it works flawlessly!! But I need to use the emac for other purposes and set up the website on the Intel imac...
The Question: Any ideas or solutions or something to try????
Thanks for any help, suggestions, ideas. Cathy (working in an elementary school computer lab...)

Yes--I've tried the "test" ftp address suggested by Dreamweaver; I've used fetch to connect as well as upload something.
I've connected to the server from another computer....
Thanks for trying but...the server seems to be functioning okay.

If you're going to use powerpill you should probably subscribe to the following thread:
    http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=56583
Your answer is on the very last page, but in summary the problem is that the --retry-wait option is no longer supported in aria2 which you can see in the code you pasted.
    /usr/bin/aria2c: unrecognized option '--retry-wait=2'
Xyne has already updated the code so you can either get the code from his site or wait for the mirrors to sync.
