Strange eBay login behavior

When I enter my login data on the usual eBay webpage, it redirects to another page that thanks me for signing out! if I hit the sign in link and login again, I get to my account as usual.
Here is the page that I get redirected to:
http://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SignOutConfirm&i=.58020011100101000420004900085000780009300041
Any ideas?

Every time Firefox opened
== last few weeks, definitely since I installed latest Firefox version.

OK.
Maybe this will help some other people who are having ebay login issues. I was using a bookmarked login page, and THAT is the problem. I guess that ebay has changed something in their login procedure. If I go to the homepage, and click on myebay, and login through that link, I have no problem.
Just for laughs, I copied the 2 different addresses to compare, and they are indeed different addresses.

  • Auto Loading web page for ebay login in safari

    HI,
I wonder if anyone can help me.
I am running a mid 2011 intel imac with Mountain Lion and Safari all updates installed.
The problem I have is that ever since I took a holiday in June 2013 I'am now getting a web page auto loading in safari this seems to happen at randowm points either opening in a new tab or even open safari when it is closed. The web page is the ebay login page and has some detail of a user unkown to me in the URL.
I have spoken with apple support and we have tried clearing the cache's, reseting safari, checking the library files and removing the plist but all to no avail. Ideally I would like to uninstall safari and reload but this does not appear to be an option.
Also it would appear that I have a memory bleed when safari is running. I have 12Gb of memory that has always worked well but lately is goes down to only 39mb free or less. Quiting safari will return up to 7Gb of free memory.
Has anyone come across a simular problems?

From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Its settings will revert to their defaults. If the extension still causes a problem, remove it permanently or refer to its developer for support.

  • Strange Navigation Bar Behavior

Hi, I'm currently designing a web page for non-profit
    government organization.
Unfortunately, I'm running into some strange behavioral
    problems with the navigation bar.
The tabs in my navigation bar run from left to right. As the
links are visited through the navigation bar, the links to the left
of which ever link is active stop working. I can't for the life of
    me figure out why!
The pages are arranged in such a way that each page involves
three html files. One body file, one navigation bar file with it's
respective tab hilighted, and a little file that simply loads the
two, one on top of the other. The tabs in the navigation bar are
linked to the file that then loads the body and navigation(of
course). Clicking on a tab to the right of the active tab loads
everything perfectly. However, if the active tab is the right-most
tab, the tabs to the left no longer work properly. They seem to
reload the navigation bar, but the body gets left behind and the
URL still appears to be that of the right-most tab.
Here is an example of my site in progress:
    Site in
    Progress
By going through the four tabs at the top, you can quickly
    see things are going wrong.
The drop-down menu can be used to access the same pages that
the navigation bar refuses to load.
If you could please take a look at the site and reply with
any comments or suggestions as to what might be going wrong or what
I could do to fix it, I would be very grateful.
Note that I previously read something about strange
navigation bar behavior being caused by image names beginning with
numbers. This isn't what's happening here as my image names are all
    "image 1" etc.
Also note that I'm using dreamweaver8
Thank you in advance for your help.

Well thanks for the suggestion, but that's not actually the
    problem I'm having.
The newsletter link along with all that other stuff on the
left hand side is just stuff I havn't gotten to yet.
The problem I'm having is with the navigation tabs at the TOP
of the page(policies, forms, info and M.R.)! I know the links for
those tabs are correct, because I can see from hovering over the
tabs that they're pointing in the right direction, and if it's the
policies page(leftmost tab at the top) I'm on, all the tabs to the
right work perfectly. The problem is that when I'm on any other
page (such as the M.R. page which is the rightmost tab), all the
tabs to the left of it mysteriously stop working!
As I said, just quickly click back and forth through the four
tabs at the top of the page and you'll see what the problem is. In
fact, completely ignore everything that isn't those four tabs at
the top of the page, because everything else is unfinished.
    Please help! Thanks!

  • Strange OD Login problem

    Hey guys, here's the setup:
Snow Leopard Server 10.6.4, all available updates installed.
Leopard Client 10.5.8, all available updates installed.
Client is bound to server, shows up in workgroup manager, successfully gets the preferences I have set via workgroup manager.
2 users. Identical except for name and home folder location. Home folder is set in workgroup manager. Validated users have the same effective permissions for their respective home folders and home folder share. Neither user has a local account on client.
    The problem:
User one can login to client no problem. User two cannot. Login window shakes then nothing. No entries show up in client secure.log or in server open directory logs.
I'm kinda at a standstill here, I'd love to get some tips on where to look next. Any advice or ideas are welcome.
    Thanks!

    Hi Guys
I too had the same issue as everyone else in this thread but I have on my network found a solution to my strange OD login issue. My inital symptoms were the exactly the same as Stephens. After investigating the issue I found that I had 2 issues causing my login error.
    __1st Issue__
The user that could not log into this machine (ingest2) had once a managed mobile account preference which had been removed a while back but the account was still locally cached but not visible at the login window or system preferences>Accounts.
    1st Solution
I opened Terminal and logged in as root (sudo -s) and typed
    dscl .
then went into /Users and low and behold there was the same user ingest2 with the same uid as the Open Directory ingest2 user. Then I types
    delete <username>
to remove the duplicate user. Because when a user with the same short name/uid logs into a mac connected to the OD the local duplicate user will win for authentication every time.
Then I tried to log back into the machine at the login Window as ingest2 user. But I was not able to get in, the login window just shook. I then tried from another machine to login via ssh, which was successful but I got an error message about not having an available home directory.
    2nd Issue
After close investigation of the apparent home folder location I found that the permissions on that users home directory were incorrect and that is why the home directory was failing to open. The permissions were rwx-r-rx root wheel and if any other user account in the OD logged into this machine those were the permissions their home directory would also get. But on any other machine in the OD this was not the case with all OD users even ingest2.
    2nd Solution
What I did to fix this strange issue was to unbound the machine from the OD and remove the folder DirectoryServices in /Library/Preferences/. Then I rebooted the machine and rebound the machine to the OD and tried to login as the user ingest2.
The Ingest2 user was then able to log into the machine and the home directory had the correct permissions.
The client was Leopard 10.5.8 and the OD server was Leopard 10.5.8.

  • Login behavior gives warning on manual alteration

Say, why is it that the Dreamweaver Login Behavior breaks whenever I try to manually insert a new Session variable in it? It tells me "The Server Behavior panel cannot determine whether "Log In User" or "Log In User" is applied to your page. Please select Edit Server Behaviors and change one of the two behaviors to ensure that each is uniquely identifiable."   even though there is only one actual set of code on the page for a Log in behavior

Are you manually changing the code? DW Server behaviors use a code recognition algorithm to determine if they exist on a page. If you manually alter the code  --performing a change that would could not be accomplished via the behavior-- DW won't be able to recognize it.  Is this what you are referring to?

  • Strange freeze and login behavior in 10.4.6

Here's a weird one: the other day, shortly after I booted and opened Safari, my G3 iBook froze completely -- no cursor movement, nothing. I rebooted, but this time it took at least 5 minutes to reboot, and when it did, it presented me with the login screen (my iBook is normally set to automatically login under my user name). I entered my user name and password, but got the "screen shake", indicating it would not accept my user name and/or password. (and before you ask, both user name and password were entered correctly). Nothing would get it to work, so I rebooted from my other hard drive and ran DiskWarrior, which reported nothing wrong, but I replaced the directory anyway. I got the recalcitrant login screen again. I rebooted into the other hard drive again, ran TechTool Pro 4's diagnostics on the files and did a surface scan -- still no luck. I finally reinstalled the iBook's backup which was also on the other hard drive (thank heavens for SuperDuper!) and was able to get the iBook to boot normally.
Can anyone explain what may have happened, and how I can avoid it in the future?
    Thanks. . .

  • Very Strange Internet Access Behavior After upgrade to systemd

Currently I'm having very strange issues with my wireless connection. Currently, if I connect using netcfg to a wireless access point, I have the following behavior:
      1. chromium can connect to any website
      2. thunderbird can send/receive emails
      3. curl, firefox and opera can connect to some https sites but not http (yes: https://www.facebook.com, https://bbs.archlinux.org, no: https://archlinux.org, https://github.com)
      4. wget does not connect, neither does pacman -Syu
after I upgraded to systemd, I was getting errors because of groups, so I removed extra groups. Here's what I have now:
There is currently no rc.conf in /etc
    $ id ambantis
    uid=1000(ambantis) gid=100(users) groups=100(users)
    $ id root
    uid=0(root) gid=0(root) groups=0(root),1(bin),2(daemon),3(sys),4(adm),19(log),1000(wheel)
If I try to remove the wheel group, then netcfg does not allow me to connect, neither can I connect manually with wpa_supplicant and dhcpcd
Here's the output of $ systemctrl

  • Safari 5.1 strange auto-reloading behavior for tabs in the background

    hi guys.
I have been encountering this strange behavior recently. I had thought it could be something wrong with my system, until yesterday i upgraded my Safari for Windows to the v.5.1 on a Windows XP laptop, and found the same issue. Now i guess I can be quite certain this is a safari issue.
    System info:
    1. Macbook Pro 17", OSX 10.6.8, 64bit boot (i have 8GB RAM).
    2. Safari (Mac) is the lastest version (as updated by the Auto update), run in the default 64bit mode.
    3. The windows machine is an old Thinkpad T60 with Windows XP Pro SP3. The Safari for windows is Safari 5.1 (7534.50), also updated by auto update.
    4. I have not installed any Safari extensions/plugs that feature an auto-reloading -- as such behavior was never seen before i upgrade to Safari 5.1
Since i mostly work on mac the mac has been kept most updated. But the windows machine which i use now and then, i don't update everything very frequently. And the earlier Safari 5.0 worked fine without the current issue.
    Symptoms
    1. Let's say I have 1 Safari window open with 5 tabs, and I have been working on the 4th tab for a while, and left the other 4 tabs "idling" in the background.
    2. And then i want to switch to another tab: click on that tab, and that tab will come to the foreground while being automatically refreshed.
    3. It looks to me this behavior happens after the inactive tabs have been idling longer than a certain period of time - then if you switch to them, they will be switched to and in the same time auto-reloaded. But I still don't know how long it needs for the "idling" before an auto-reloading "threshold" is triggered.
    4. In the beginning this was just on the Mac Safari (and i hadn't updated safari on the windows). But after I updated safari for WIN yesterday, i found the same behavior today.
    5. I checked all the Preferences settings and didnt find any option that indicates this behaviors.
Guys. any ideas? anyone have the same trouble? Thanks a lot guys. This is really annoying.

I'm running Safari 5.1 / SL v10.6.8 on one Mac with Glims installed and I never have a problem with tabs auto reloading. You might want to give it a try.
    It's free!

Once the software is installed you can access the settings from Safari / Preferences - Glims.
If you don't like the software you can use their uninstaller here.
Hi Carolyn thanks a lot for the idea.
The weird thing is... after i tried to uninstall and re-install a few apps the "auto-loading" behavior disappeared ... guess something was interfereing with safari 5.1...
But thanks for recommending Glims. I took a quick look at the website and it looks great. will do some more research before i start using it. Thanks for the recomm!

  • Very strange FF3/Opera behavior

    Hi there,
I'm running XFCE & Compiz Fusion and encountered a very strange behavior when visiting a certain website with Firefox3. The website is http://www.cyberpunk-terminal.de/. Whenever I visit that site my whole Firefox gets transparent. When I switch to a different tab or close the tab, it's back to normal. It seems to have something to do with Compiz, since I can set the transparency of FF to 0 via Compiz-shortcuts.
Does anybody else have the same experience?
Edit: Same thing happens with Opera.

  • Strange Gradient Stroke Behavior on Some Path Corners

    Hello All,
I'm a Photoshop user who has recently started learning Illustrator for a project. I am experiencing a strange behavior where some of the corners of a path with a gradient stroke overlap. In some of the corners, the stroke does not bend cleanly but leaves a strange artifact on the path (the stroke acts normally on the rest of the path including similarly angled corners). I am including pictures to illustrate what I mean.
The stroke I am using has a linear gradient applied across it. The stroke starts with a solid color (black) with a hard edge against a gradient from green to transparent. Sometimes the artifact is on the transparent side of the stroke (first image), but sometimes it's on the hard edge side (2nd image - this is actually the same corner with the anchors manipulated). In the third image, you can see the issue on both the "transparent" edge (though as you can see in this image, it isn't actually transparent in places where the stroke overlaps itself) and the solid edge.
I've done a lot of digging to try to find similar issues and tried many solutions - toggled snap to grid for the object, looked into miter limits, caps, and corners (I am using rounded corners), checked for stray anchors, changed points from corner to rounded, etc. Any advice is appreciated!
Thank you very much for your time and input!
    Best,
    Alexis

But you can get that effect by layering several stroke attributes in the Appearance Panel. For example, make the black on a different stroke layer, where you can control it separately from the green (ok, I'm color blind).

  • Strange alpha channel behavior in jscroll pane

    Hi,
    My first post here.
I have been strugling for a while with a problem with alpha channel opacity and scrollpane. I basically have a JScrollpane that contains a JPanel with JLabels. The JLabels have a mouse action that changes their background to higlighted by using a color with an alpha channel.
When a mouse is over a JLabel we call:
    public void mouseOver(){
              this.setForeground(Color.WHITE);
              this.setBackground(new Color(100,100,100,100));
              this.setOpaque(true);
This works but with some strange rendering problems. Sometimes the "background" shows other parts of the screen insted of the correct background. This is kind of hard to explain so I took a screen shot that elaborates this.
    The correct behavior:
    http://www.rulli.org/~mravimo/seka/correct.jpg
    The wrong bahavior:
    http://www.rulli.org/~mravimo/seka/wrong.jpg

I think there seems to some abuse of the 'opaque' setting in Java. Opaque, literally, of course, describes something through which nothing can be seen (if you can see through it, it's either translucent or transparent). That means alpha 0 is transparent, alpha 255 (for an 8-bit channel) is opaque, and anything else is translucent.
ComponentUI uses 'opaque' to determine whether to paint the component background. This is where the semantics are broken: it should really query the background color to see if it's non-null and its alpha is non-zero, thus painting translucent colors as well as opaque. I think there is a good case for this being a Java bug if it's not already - though I'd anticipate the counter-argument being that it will raise issues with backward-compatibility ("if it's been broken long enough, don't fix it").
The problem you're seeing, I suspect, is due to the same flag being used (semantically correctly) to help optimise the paint process (if something really is opaque then there's no point rendering underneath it).
Unfortunately, fixing ComponentUI is a non starter since it can only be fixed by extension (multiply the number of components by the number of L&Fs and you're on your way).
As a workaround you can extend JLabel and override paintComponent(); or plug in a specific label UI which fixed the ComponentUI problem; in both cases leaving the opaque setting at false.

  • Strange sent box behavior

Strange behavior I hope someone can help diagnose: After sending an email with an attachment, it will appear as though no attachment is present (looking down the attachment column in the sent box). After opening up the email, the attachment icon appears as it should. Is there any way to remedy this behavior without opening every single sent email by hand?

First try using Rebuild on the Sent mailbox -- if more than one account, then you must reveal the separate Sent mailboxes for each account, before Rebuild will be functional. Click on Mailbox in the menubar, and choose Rebuild while the Sent mailbox is open.

  • Php mysql login behavior

    Hi the list,
    I have a php/mysql site -, very simple. it's using the
built-in user authentication behavior. this is fine, checks the
database and either opens the correct page with a valid user/login
or opens an error page, if there's no valid login and password set.
what I need to do is to display a field based on the user and
password on the receiving page, but I can't seem to get that to
work. If I get rid of the built-in user authentication and just
send the login and password to the receiving page as form
variables, it works fine but then I don't have the error page
behavior. I'm not a database guy, just kind of floundering here.Any
    help gratefully accepted.

Not quite sure what you mean ("display a field") but it
    sounds like
you want the receiving page to display some information about
    the
    person who has logged in?
In that case, in the code on your login page, after login has
    been
verified but before the redirection to the receiving page,
    you should
set a session variable to be the id of the person logging in.
    Then on
your receiving page query the database for the person with
    that id and
retrieve whatever you want. For example, get their given name
    and
display a personalised welcome to them.
Hope this is what you meant?

Any ideea what is wrong with my machine ?
    Thank you,
    Razvan

    Hi Chandra,
unfortunately I can't stop the whole database just because of this "little" problem. And don't even know if it really helps. Now I'm installing the same SW on VMWare server. Hope, that it will help me reproduce this problem and then I can try this patch.
Thank you, however, for your suggestion.
    Robert
