Strange Edge After FCP Import

So I have a weird problem that I couldn't find an answer for on the forums. After creating an opening title sequence for a film in Motion 2, I imported the motn file into FCP and got a strange 1 pixel border around the entire frame. It looks like the gradient layer I'm using above it isn't covering that pixel, but the numbers prove that theory wrong. I'll send the file to anyone that wants to take a look at it. The film was shot in DVCPRO HD in 720p at 24 frames a second. I used an exported slug from FCP for project settings. If anyone has any advice/questions/related problems please let me know ASAP. Thanks for the suggestion. I actually discovered the "fix" before reading your reply. I altered the size of the gradient and solid generators to be 980 x 740 (from 960 x 720), making sure no layer cropping was taking place on the root level. After quickly checking the updated file in Final Cut, the 1 pixel border was completely gone.

Yup.
I have two separate backups of my important stuff. After two I figure someone is out to get me with intent.
Just a switch on power, connect and a few clicks and I'm back up and running if that "OH NO" thing happens.
I talk to people who do not use their computer for what they call "serious work", thinking their stuff is not worth backing up.
Then after a short discussion they realize that the 2,000 or more photos/memories or whatever, could be all lost in a few seconds they pretty much race down, buy a drive and get their stuff backed up.
Moral of the story: BACK UP

Right now, after I import a new file, I have to then go searching for it amid all the other files in my project. It would be extremely helpful if the file I just imported was already highlighted and selected after import, making it instantly "locatable" and ready to go.

in a perfect world, you do know the recording date, and you simply scroll to that date.
in a very perfect world, all your other imports are already tagged, so just have to create a smart list 'unrated' ...

I would like to know this too. I imported a lot of files, then Imovie crashed. I went back in and they are not in imovie at all.
I reconnected the camcorder to import again and though they are still on the camcorder, I no longer see them in the available list of files to import. I'm sure there is some sort of simple setting somewhere that reveals all files even if it thinks they are imported.

Depends.
Did you copy the files into the Aperture Library on Import?
If so, it's safe to do so. My tip: wait a few weeks until you're happy that you're committed to Aperture.
Drag the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder to the trash.

I can drag the dialog box, but I can't move it up far enough to get to the eject card button. The dialogue box contains all the jpeg Numbers I am trying to upload. It has never done that before. It used to be just a smal dialogue box with no jpeg numbers in it.
It is even difficult to get to the Finder with the Dialague box is open. I have to force quit aperture.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Strange problems after installing Solaris 10 u6 on 64-bit PC

Hi all,
I have run into some very strange issues after installing Solaris 10 update 6 on my 64-bit PC (it's almost new). The problems are with graphical applications and desktop environments based on GTK (so it seems, at least).
I have installed Solaris normally, following most of the default options and choosing the "Entire Group" software packages installation. However, after the first login I've seen that:
1. No user creation process was offered to me and I had to login as root (I find it pretty strange)
2. After logging in as root into JDK system, my screen went blank for a couple of seconds and then the system threw me back to the login screen.
3. Logging into the old CDE environment was possible, but launching Firefox from there (using a command line terminal) wasn't. It gave me the following error message:
ld.so.1: firefox-bin: fatal: libmlib.so.2: open failed: no such file or directory
ld.so.1: firefox-bin: fatal: relocation error: file /usr/bin/firefox/firefox-bin: symbol gtk_init: referenced symbol not found.
It's very strange because GTK toolkit and JDK environment are supposed to be the core functionalities provided by Solaris. Does anyone have an idea what's going on?
My system sum-up:

I use my system in the following way:
On the first hard disk, I have a one-partition 32-bit Windows XP SP3 installation (ported from my old computer).
On the second hard disk, I have a functioning Fedora Core 9 installed on the first half of the disk's space (the installation is self-organized into several Linux partitions, e. g. /boot, /swap etc; I am a newbie so I don't know too much about Linux partitioning - only specified to Fedora how much space it could use for its volume group). I installed Solaris onto the second half of the second disk.
It has be noted that my USB external drive seemed to conflict with the network or graphics cards during the Fedora installation and caused it to hang sporadically, so I installed Fedora with this disk detached. I also detached it when I was installing Solaris, though it seems to have not influenced the problems I experienced. I also have attempted installing Solaris before I did so with Fedora, but had the same issues.

Well, it seems that the cause of the problem was that my DVD image was just corrupted - I didn't check it vs MD5 codes supplied by Sun assuming it went automatically OK. I downloaded the image again (this time it was OK), reinstalled the system and successfully logged into JDS. However, I am still puzzled why Solaris doesn't offer to create a default non-root user during the installation process.

PE 9 lockup after HD import from camcorder

Hi folks, I've been using PE for many years. Currently have PE9 installed, all the updates, drivers, QuickTime, etc. up to date. No problems at all, I've produced many videos. But all of a sudden on the last few times I imported from the camcorder (Canon HV20), it imports fine but when it's done, PE9 locks up. It has the video on the timeline, but doesn't show it in the video display window. I have to Ctrl/Alt/Del, which then brings up the "PE9 stopped unexpectedly" Windows error.
When I start it back up, the video is there and saved and everything works fine. So I can work around this, but not sure why all of a sudden it's hanging after I import video, the same way I've been doing it for years? And like I said, no problems doing this with PE9 until recently. No other changes to the computer, so I'm not sure what's up, any suggestions? (I searched around in the forum but didn't find anything).

There are quite a few things to check, and many are included in this ARTICLE and in its links. For driver updates, do not trust Windows, or any update utility. Go to the mfgr's. Web site, plug in your audio, or video card make/model, plus your OS, then download and install the latest driver.
Next, if the situation does not improve, please post the full details of your system. See this ARTICLE. Pay special attention to the I/O sub-system. This ARTICLE will give you background and tips.

Very strange thing after 10.7.3 update?

Very strange thing after 10.7.3 update?
Everything seems to be working normal except the desk top BBC iPlayer which plays fine in a small window but when you go to full screen still plays the sound but the screen just goes black, no video?
I thought maybe the update knocked off one of the plugins or players but reinstalled iPlayer and same problem, anyone got a workaround or suggestion as to how I can fix it, am I the only one?
Full screen YouTube works fine.
Everything else seems ok, maybe running a little hotter and the fans are kicking in a little sooner but does feel a little snappier.

They have not - your events are sorted manually - go to the view menu ==> sort events and select your choice of event sort order

GL : after journal import currency conversion type change to User

I have following data in GL_Interface table
User_currency_conversion-type = 'Corporate'
Currency_conversion_date = '9/21/2008' ( Get from Gl_Daily_rates)
Currency_conversion_rate = Null
As per GL_Daily_Rates the conversion_rate is 1.5 for this currency to functonal currency.
After journal import, gl_je_header is populated with
User_currency_conversion-type = 'User'
Currency_conversion_date = '9/21/2008'
Currency_conversion_rate = 1
Can you please explain, why the User_currency_conversion-type and Currency_conversion_rate are changed to above values ?

However, I think this issue is not really related to the exchange rate. The amount conversion from USD to JOD happens correctly based on the current pricing forumla that we are using i.e. amounts in JOD have 3 decimals after conversion from USD, but when they are stored in pricing structure, the last decimal is truncated as the currency against the 3 condition types is USD (USD has 2 decimals). Hence, the amounts have 2 deicmals.

Broken DC after re-importing model

Hello,
I have an existing model with an RFC already present in the model. A few changes have been made to the structure of the RFC which required a re-import of the model.
After re-import, the DC becomes Broken on NWDS and also all the structures and data fields present in the model dictionary show as deleted.
Upon building the DC on local machine, I get the following error. I tried reverting and reimporting the model but was in vain.
Any leads in this direction?

First reimport model , then build it , all inconsistency will be display.
these could be possible
1 : I am sure that its a problem of some structure changes in RFC (check all those which are present at DC binded with model)
2: Dictonary are not generated (check at dictonaries , this is default taken care by framework sometimes it happen)
3. Local Context node having some type missing (due to structure change) (delete all the model binding and bind it again with new structure)

I use Crystal Server 2008
When I import reports from BIAR file, the lists of values that the reports use are created, and can be viewed/edited through Business Views Manager, on the destination.
The data that the LOVs contain is the data from the source DB.
Is it possible to use SDK to populate the LOV with data from the destination DB after the import?
I mean force through a "Run now" type of operation, similar to the manual Scheduling operation on BVM.

I thought as much. How then should I enable the LOV to update?
My LOV are not scheduled to update. In BVM, when I look at the LOV, it tells me that the LOV will execute on demand.
However, when i run a report using the LOV, the LOV is not populated. I thought that would be the On Demand phase
