Strange emails on IPhone only
For the past few days I'm getting emails on my Iphone 3GS, with "No Sender" "No Subject" "No message" on them, like 50 at a time, and I can't delete them. When I go into "Edit" there's no little circle to click on. This doesn't appear on my Imac or Mac Book which receives he same email from sbcglobal.net
I assume it's probably spam. Is there any danger to it? How can I eliminate it? Thanks
What is the account type for this email account - POP or IMAP?
Sounds like the account is a POP account and if so, what is your account setting with the email client used on your compute for accessing the account for removing messages from the server when downloaded?
You need to set this setting to Never if you want the same messages downloaded with the iPhone's mail client, and the same for the account settings with the iPhone's mail client.

You can do this when accessing the account as a POP account on the iPhone only with the correct settings for not removing messages from the server when deleted from the iPhone - if Gmail supports accessing the account as a POP account.
Accessing the account as a POP account with an email client on one computer or mobile device and as an IMAP or Exchange account on another can cause problems. -
How to delete email from iPhone ONLY and not from server?
Hi. I have a Yahoo! POP mail account.. Can anyone advise me how to setup my iPhone so it ONLY deletes email from the iPhone and NOT the server. So, after I read an email on the iPhone and delete it, the email remains in the INBOX on the server? If not, I will send a feedback to Apple. BTW - I can dl and send email just fine. Thank you.

When you setup Yahoo on the iPhone it defaults to IMAP because Yahoo offers free IMAP Push for iPhone users, as discussed in this article:

If you add your Yahoo account as "other" it will be setup as POP.
With IMAP messages are stored on the server, and messages created in one email client, such as the iPhone, show up in the sent mailbox on both. In addition messages moved to a different folder on the iPhone, will be in a different folder when you access your Yahoo mail via a web browser or another IMAP client. Likewise message you delete, will also be synchronized and deleted.

Hi I have the orginal iPad ,,,and had software updates done on both iPhone & iPad ,one thing I noticed everytime I hook my iPad & iPhone up to iTunes update software or upgrades I seem to loose very important emails from both iPhone & iPad ,,,so that's one issue that apple could not explain causes ,,the other problem is recently this year I noticed that I will email my friends then a couple of weeks later go to email same friends email address are felted from my contacts ,this is happening a lot now ,,but not on iPhone only iPad ,any ideas ,,,I knew to forum so any help appreciated ,,,
Emails are not included with the backup for each device. If the account is an Exchange or IMAP account, all server stored mailboxes and the messages within remain on the server. If a POP account, if received messages remain on the server the messages will be re-downloaded. If no longer available on the server, this has nothing to do with updating the iPhone or iPad.
Are you syncing contacts with a supported address book app on your computer or over the air with an email account that supports syncing contacts over the air? Not a good idea to depend on a portable device alone for contacts. Although contacts are included with the backup for each device, so is a significant amount of other data. If something goes wrong with the device's backup in regards to this data and you aren't syncing contacts direct with a supported address book app on your computer or over the air with an email account that supports it, your contacts can be lost. Not to mention if either device or both devices are lost or stolen. -
Hi, I want to use my number for iMessage on my iPhone only and on my macbook pro use my apple id/email and not my number, how do i do that? before i updated my phone thats what it was like but now that ive updated i dont know how to change it. I tried that but on my iphone i can only click on my email and my number is checked but its in grey doesnt allow me click on it and on my Mac, its the opposite, my email is checked but in grey so doesnt allow me to click on it. im realy confused

When I create a photo stream in ios6, everyone who is logged in to my iCloud account can see and edit my stream (on their iPhones only). Not just the email addressees that I sent the photo stream link to. Is that how photo stream security is meant to work? Is so it means my whole family can see any photo stream I set up. Hence no security? Can't share the pics with the wife then :(
The whole idea to an icloud account is that one user uses it and has all their devices synced together. Different users need different Apple IDs to create their own icloud accounts. Note that everyone can still use the same ID for an iTunes account (to share purchases).

Strange email problem; it started only loading unread emails, but from 3 months ago. It is now loading new emails too, but no emails in the past month, read or unread. It's gmail, set up through the phone, I've restarted restored and updated firmware, deleted the account, anything I could think of, but it's just not accurately downloading the most recent emails.
The answer is very simple: You were not the original owner of the phone. Target sold you a phone that had been returned. You can verify the date of the original sale here: Apple - Support - Check Your Service and Support Coverage. I suspect you will find that the warranty expiration date is not one year from the date that you bought it.

I've just set up my mac Mail to receive my hotmail. It's now trying to download the whole of my hotmail account of 20,000 emails! I only want it to show the latest 200 (like on iPhone and IPad) Is there anyway to control this?
On your iPad, just go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, etc.>Add account>iCloud and put in the details of the account you set up. Shouldn't be a problem at all.

Strange email addresses during setup
Hi all,
Have a question that has stumped both Apple and Verizon representatives. I received my iPhone 6 plus today, and at a point during setup it asks me for my iCloud ID and password. After accepting that, it takes me to the screen asking which backup to use. After selecting the most recent (or any for that matter) it took me to a screen asking for the password associated to a completely random and strange e-mail address I have never seen. The Apple repeesentative finally told me to skip this step. I agreed, and when taken to the next step it again asked me for the password to the email address associated with purchases except it was a different strange email. I once more skipped, only to see another e-mail that I have no knowledge on and do not know anyone associated with it. Both Apple suggestions do not appear to be viable, as I never back up or sync from other computers and I haven't added any other emails to my account. I toyed with the idea that maybe I had received a floor model, but I don't think that's the case as it arrived in the original, plastic wrapped package. I realize this was long-winded, just wondering if anyone had any ideas on the cause. I searched and didn't find anything remotely related, which makes this even stranger. thanks in advance to anyone who might have a suggestion.
MIkeIf you are on WiFi only then it should not cost anything...BB10 devices are capable of all data-level services via WiFi only. However, what is not controllable is what actually happens when you are traveling. For example, if you leave your Mobile Network running for roaming voice services, then there is of course some possibility that something will traverse that network instead of the WiFi network (out of range, for example). But, of you are really concerned, one way to be certain would be to keep all Data Services off while you are strictly in voice mode (e.g., not near any WiFi). When you are on WiFi, turn your Mobile Network services off and turn on Data Services. That way, you can be sure that no data services will ever traverse the Mobile Network.
However, that may be overkill...but there is no way for us to know what your carrier nor the carrier on which you are roaming might or might not do.

OK, I solved it. Here is the solution if you have precisely the problem I had.
1. On the iOS device: delete the iCloud account.
2. Go to the Apple ID website and make sure the ONLY email there is the me.com email and that it is set as primary. If you Mac.com email is listed as a secondary email THIS will cause the problem. So delete the Mac.com email.
3. Log back in to iCloud on the iOS device.
Only you wanted to use the Mac.com address and not the me.com one, you could follow the above instructions just swapping me and Mac. -

On my own, I discovered the following, which worked (one responder got the solution part correct for Google): For Yahoo, where I just use a standard login with no extra verification, I had to go into Yahoo and change my password. Once I did this, the new iPhone had no problem registering accepting my Yahoo account. I WAS, however, using the correct password and user name all along, for those who did not think that was the case. The problem is on the iPhone software side. For Google, I use a two step verification, and for that, one must go to Google Mail and obtain a specific, unique password, that is designed to work only on iPhones. Hope this helps anyone else with this dilemma.

My ringer is no longer working for text and email notifications. Only working for phone calls. I have gone through all the settings to see where something is off. Not finding anything. I have tried changing the tone and it just vibrates on everything.
Ok so I happened to figure it out while on the phone to apple support. Even though the guy was very nice, I think I knew more than him! He was explaining very basic resolution principles I played about. I had the second option in displays resolution. All I did was unplug the HDMI cable, click on 'best for display' then plugged the HDMI in and my resolution on the normal monitor changed to the normal blue, then went black momentarily and then changed to a strange resolution but another window appeared that said SONY BRAVIA HDMI at the top! Hey presto! Don't know why it didn't do it yesterday - I probably left the HDMI cable in or something! Oh well. Problem solved!

I can no longer attach files to my outgoing Hotmail emails. I only receive a message where I would expect the Upload to appear that an error has occurred.
I am using a MacBook Pro with Retina, 2 Ghz Intel Core i7, OS X 10.9.4
I have no difficulty attaching files to the outgoing Hotmails on the same account using my iPhone.
Help appreciated.Thanks for this - not an immediate solution I fear but will keep unplugging stuff and restarting stuff.
To try and be clearer about the problem - I have in the last managed to send attachments successfully. Now I can send and receive plain email messages but get the error message when I try to attach an existing file to an email - not just a particular file but it would appear all files are being treated in the same way.
An experiment to send a mail to which an attachment has failed to upload got the following message alongside the SEND button
Files with errors will be removed from the email and not sent.
