  • Strange error occurring /only/ on landscape photos

    I'm using iPhoto '11 version 9.4.3   I noticed today that a very specific set of images in one "event" are giving an error when I try to view them. All thumbnails work for every single picture. The pictures that are giving the error _do show up_ in the full window size when I press spacebar to look at them, but as soon as the image comes up, a dialog box pops up and says: "Alert   The photo "_MG_1490.JPG" could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found." with two buttons, (Cancel) (Find Photo...).
    My photos are stored in the iPhoto Library so choosing Find Photo would help me none. As soon as I select Cancel, the image that was just there goes away and I'm left with a black screen and a white triangle with an "!" inside. I can press spacebar again to back out of that image and look at the event again. And, I can then press spacebar again, on the same image, and the same exact events take place (image shows, then disappears when cancel is pressed).
    The curious thing about this is that in this event, every single picture that is in Portrait orientation opens without error. However, every single picture in this event that is oriented in Landscape is giving the error I described above.
    every. single. image. (in this event)   ... very strange.
    I have tried the Cmnd+Option method and rebuilt the library, rebuilt the cache, etc, all four of the options it gives. I have also tried the iPhoto Library tool that is often recommended here and rebuilt the library that way. It rebuilt and what turned out was that event only had the portrait pictures in it, all pictures that were landscape are just not in the rebuilt library.. I have also removed and reinstalled iPhoto from the App Store again with the same results each time.
    Is there anything that could have happened that is causing one event to throw errors on _only landscape_ pictures? And again, when the picture is opened, it does show the picture under the error message, but then disappears once I click a button on the error...

    That problem happens when one is running a "referenced" library
    and the source files have been moved from the location they were in when added to the library.  You can check your iPhoto/Advanced preference pane to see if that checkbox is checked or not.  If it is it could have been unchecked for that one import but that's unlikely as it would have had be be rechecked or the iPhoto preference file was deleted and regenerated.
    Select one of the thumbnails and use the File ➙ Reveal in Finder ➙ Original menu option. You will be taken to the folder inside of iPhoto that should house the original file for that thumbnail.  Does it. Is the original file there?
    Another reason this could occur is that the original files for that event were moved via the Finder somehow.

  • Please help: Strange error occurs when loading courseware

    Hi all,
    We have developed numerous training packages using Captivate 5. For the most part they seem to work nicely, however, three of our users (out of hundreds) have reported the following error (please view attached screenshot).
    One user is using Firefox (dont know browser or flash version),
    Second User is using Internet Explorer 8.0.7601  with a flash version of 10.2.1.53
    Third user tried both IE and Firefox and has a flash version of 10.2.15.1
    I myself am using IE 8 with a flash version of 10.2.153 and am not able to replicate the error.
    I have done a search on the forums trying to see if anyone else has come accross the same error and found the following thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3269584   However we are not using the aggregator for our projects, and although we do use a preloader, the vast majority of our users are not experiencing problems. For those users who are having difficulties two of them seem to be able to open some modules but not others (yet the same pre loader is used throughout all our courseware).
    One interesting observation that I have had is that for one user the error only occurs on modules that are using a table of contents (in overlay mode) and they are able to open all other modules. Yet, for one of the other users the error is occuring on all modules, even those without a table of contents.
    I can't figure out what may be causing the problem because each user is experiencing the error under slightly different circumstances (In terms of flash versions, browsers and whether or not the module has a table of contents or preloaders).
    Has anyone else experienced the above error. If so did you figure out what was causing the problem?
    thanks!

    Hi,
    Would it be possible to share that swf file, so that i will try from my end and see whether i can reproduce the issue?
    You can e-mail to my address [email protected]
    Thanks,
    Vikranth.

  • Proxy to file scenario - strange error

    Hi,
    we r finding a strange error occurring in our prd system. we have many scenarios of proxy to file and they all are running fine. the problem which is arising from the last few days is that - for some outbound interfaces at random, the message is generated in ECC, sent to XI and its file generated in local system of XI - this is fine - but what is happening as strange is the message is again getting processed in SMQ2 queue of ECC - this is the duplicate msg of the original msg - we can say this is duplicate msg becoz the msg id of the original msg in ECC, is available in XI with the same msg id and this erroring msg in SMQ2 is having the same msg id again - suggesting that somehow ECC is trying to process the same msg again.
    has anyone seen this type of error before. pls suggest how to rectify this error.

    hi,
    no upgrade happened recently.
    in ECC in SMQ2 queue the msg is erroring with error XI server CLIENT_RECEIVE_FAILED. INTERNAL Queue stopped. In SXMB_MONI in ECC the msg is erroring with :
    <SAP:Category>XIServer</SAP:Category>
      <SAP:Code area="INTERNAL">CLIENT_RECEIVE_FAILED</SAP:Code>
      <SAP:P1>402</SAP:P1>
      <SAP:P2>ICM_HTTP_TIMEOUT</SAP:P2>
    Error while receiving by HTTP (error code: 402, error text: ICM_HTTP_TIMEOUT)
    the scenario is async outbound proxy to file scenario. it is happening randomly for any interface and only a few times eg 1 msg out of 300 msg in a day is having this duplicate msg error.
    Please suggest.

  • Strange Error on Sync. "An unknown error occurred (-4)" Please Help.

    Has anyone else gotten this error from iTunes when they plug in their iPod Video?
    "The iPod "NameOfTheiPod" cannot be updated. An unknown error occurred (-4)."
    I get this everytime I try and sync my iPod Video (60GB). I've tried reinstalling iTunes, reseting and restoring the unit, changing USB ports, etc.
    Thanks,
    Bill

    I would suggest following this article :
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301267
    It would seem to relate to your ipod more closely than any other document I have seen.
    Let me know,

  • An error occured while transferring files, now all of my photos/videos are corrupted

    Ok, so this is a strange situation, so bear with me. I was transferring some files from my iphone to my harddrive yesterday. And then I got an error message saying that some of the files didnt transfer for whatever reason. I didn't think much of it, cause these were older files anyway. But then I looked, and all of my more recent files (everything from December 23-Now) got corrupt. This is strange, because the files that I was transferring were from before December 23, so they weren't overlapping at all.
    Anyway, I don't even know where to begin, because I really don't know what this is. Here's a picture of what I'm dealing with.
    As you can probably tell, something weird is happening, since I do not have 4 million photos. (But I do have 286 videos). When I try to play a video, it says "the requested URL was not found on this server".
    When I connect this to image capture, it shows the files as such:
    So some of the information is still there, which is strange. I've also tried backing up from the backup that I made right before this error occured, and it appears that the files are corrupt within the backup too. So I have corrupt files on my phone, as well as corrupt files on my computer. I went to my MobileSync folder and found the backup, and tried changing some of the files to .mov files, and this allowed some of them to turn into video files, but they appear to be corrupt.
    So basically, what are my best options? Is there any way I can salvage these videos? Is there an app that can export these videos, and then repair them? I'm pretty much really lost here, and going to the genius bar was no help.

  • An Error Occurred while trying to join "my wireless access point"

    Hi,
    I've been using wireless access for a year and never had a problem connecting.
    But starting yesterday I get a +*An Error Occurred while trying to join "my wireless access point", Please try again.+* Message.
    I have 2 Mac's and have no problem connecting with the other one. It’s just the IMac.
    I tried everything including resetting router, changing password, adding a $ to the password, accessing without password, deleting the whole air port and create a new one, but still getting the same message.
    I might need to add, while I was working with the IMac I didn’t use wireless for a few hours, but when I got back to my browser I noticed that I was connected to a different wireless service. (FONFREEINTERNET if it matters) I have no idea why, since I didn’t change it.
    Anyways, I tried to switch back to my access point, but it wouldn’t let me. It’ll just give me the +*An Error Occurred while trying to join "my wireless access point", Please try again.+* Message.
    Funny is when I use the FONFREEINTERNET access point the internet seems to work fine.
    I could look up Google without a problem, but when I tried to connect to Facebook for example it won’t let me. Instead a FONFREEINTERNET page will pop up with some options on how to pay! (by minute/or day/or week…)
    I get the strange feeling that they planted some kind of bug/virus!!!
    I don’t know what else to do.
    Anyone knows that problem? What can I do?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    I researched on FONFREEINTERNET, there’s a spot close to my house/guess that’s the one I used…
    http://maps.fon.com/ ZIP CODE 904-0113 and you’ll see a coffee pod, which is about 2 minutes walk from my house.

    Hello Tesserax,
    I get the same error message again...
    I tried the 3 suggested steps again, but unfortunately it did not work.
    After a Restart, Sleep or just the awaking from Screensaver mode I’m disconnected from my wireless Network anymore.
    Even if the Computer was asleep for just a second!
    I am able to fix the problem temporarily with Network Preferences → Assist me → Diagnostics
    Choose Airport → Choose network → Enter Password (Even if I check safe password it’ll ask me every time) → and than usually all lights on the left menu switch from red to green and I get the popup message “A Network Change has been detected. Your Internet seems to work fine.” (similar - I’m at work and don’t remember exactly)
    And it works fine…until the screensaver comes on or it sleeps again
    I have the Problem with my IMac and Mini but the IMac at least remembers my password…
    Any Ideas
    I’m connected through a Buffalo WZR2-G300N wireless router

  • "An error occurred while trying to save your photo library..."

    Installed iPhoto6.
    Started app. It said it would take a few seconds or minutes to upgrade.
    About 6 hours later after churning on thumbnails it is now claiming this error over and over with some time that goes by in between:
    "An error occurred while trying to save your photo library."
    "Some recent changes may be lost. Make sure your hard disk has enough space and that iPhoto is able to access the iPhoto Library folder."
    It says I have 22,759 photos in Library. The Library was a subset of my images, named "iPhoto Library 2005" and it was intentionally kept below the 25,000 limit of iPhoto5.
    Since Steve claims iPhoto6 can easily handle 250,000 photos, I clicked on the upgrade button with confidence. This now appears to be a mistake. Last night I was working on an iDVD for the local school and the majority of that work has simply vanished. There were 320 photos. I spent hours adding keywords, ranking, adjusting temperature, focus, exposure, etc.
    Of the 320, only 16 photos survived. They are 16 in a row from the middle of the roll near the end but not at the end. The roll name was lost. The name is now just "Roll 226" and none of the photos have keywords. I know at least one of the 16 should have the keyword "DUPE" and the ranking 2 STARS since it precedes a double that I ranked 2 during a slideshow, sorted by ranking, and dragged to the DUPE keyword. All 16 should have the ACROCK keyword which I initially assigned to all photos.
    Again, 304 of 320 have vanished and the 16 that remain have no keywords or rankings.
    I watched the slide show in iPhoto5 three times with different music candidates so I know the keywording and rankings evaporated in iPhoto6. I also clicked ACROCK and option clicked DUPE and POOR so that all of the music program photos except dupes and poor images would vanish. I only deleted one photo so there were not a lot of changes to the library in terms of photos in it. I cannot think of any reason why the 16 chosen survived. Only two were placed in a DVD dropzone and they are scattered amongst the 16 survivors.
    Also, the ACROCK and DUPE keywords are also gone while the POOR keyword added in August is in the keyword table just fine.
    I exported these 320 photos last night to iDVD and tried almost all of the different themes and I dragged about 10 different photos to the dropzones, hit play, hit motion, etc.
    It seems very strange that 16 photos from the middle of the pack would survive.
    It seems extra odd that iPhoto5 and iDVD treated these as "established" photos, not photos hanging in the wings somewhere ready to vanish in an upgrade.
    I gracefully saved and quit iDVD and iPhoto5 and there were no crashes and nothing strange happened while making the DVD. I was hoping today to try out the new themes and maybe find one that is just right for the kids. Instead, about 300 of 320 photos of the kids went bye-bye along with all the work on the photos!
    I'm nervous that many more photos are missing but I will need to do a ton of checking to see what else has been deleted by the upgrade.
    The user message that iPhoto6 presents is nearly useless and strange. It offers little if anything to go on in terms of a repair procedure. After saying an error has occurred, it says some recent changes could be lost but doesn't expand at all on what they may be or why.
    From my experience, recently added photos, keywords, keyword assignments, rankings and maybe more can all be lost. To compound matters, before the upgrade it says that you cannot go back to the prior (working!) library in iPhoto5. Beware!
    It finishes by suggesting two vague steps to take. The first is to make sure your disk has "enough" space. How much is "enough"? It doesn't say something like X GB available, Y GB needed. A user would have no clue about how much space to free up. I have over 17 GB and assumed that would be enough. I sure hope it doesn't require double the space of the existing library. I would hope it has a smarter algorithm than that since 23,000 photos at about 3 MB each maps to about 70 GB. That's a lot of "temporary" space to require to perform an upgrade. Since the upgrade/error message provide no details (unlike package installers which supposedly tell you how much space you need), users like me would have no clue if 70 GB is plenty or not enough.
    I found 24 GB secretly used by iPhoto 5 for an iPod Photo Cache and a tech bulletin saying this just grows and grows without control and it can be deleted SO I wouldn't put huge hidden disk usage past iPhoto6.
    The last none-to-helpful suggestion is that a user make sure that iPhoto is able to access the iPhoto Library folder. Huh?!??!?
    Wouldn't this be a great thing to confirm via software before setting about on 6+ hours of work, especially if there is an error message hard-coded in the software confirming that Apple knows the result may be losing valuable customer photos and hours of work on enhancing, keywording, creating DVDs, etc.?
    Of course. This appears negligent. To know that customer file loss will likely result but not checking these things out in advance before taking that risk seems like putting the cart before the horse at customers' expense & pain and certain loss of irreplaceable family photos (for the, say, 80%+ of iPhoto users that "plan" to get a backup routine established?).
    I got burned in the iPhoto5 upgrade as well, losing photos, so I was sure to have a backup so it wouldn't happen again. Most I fear won't be so fortunate so be advised of the risk and work with copies of your photos only.
    Also, why would iPhoto5 have all the permissions it needs to store, edit, tag and otherwise work with 320 photos added last night? Why would version 5 have plenty of permissions to use the folders and the photos in them. Why would iPhoto 6 suddenly lose those permissions or not have enough? This hardly makes any sense. The only way the permissions were set, the iPhoto libraries got created and the albums got created was by dragging a folder of images onto the albums pane in iPhoto5. So, iPhoto5 set all the permissions, everything is under one user account and there should be no surprise permissions for iPhoto6 to deal with.
    It seems unbelievable that iPhoto 6 couldn't do what iPhoto 5 was doing. I never changed permissions and never touched files in the iPhoto 5 structure.
    I can only guess that recently added keywords, recently added photos and recently added rankings and keyword taggings linger in some at-risk staging area that a version 6 upgrade doesn't know how to deal with. This seems like a lame way to code this app so I don't consider this a good guess but what else could it be?
    Anyone else have a better hunch at a root cause?
    Anyone else have an idea of a cure?
    Anyone else run into this?
    It sure doesn't look like there was a test case for having near 25,000 photos (an iPhoto 5 documented requirement), working with the latest roll and then doing a version 6 upgrade because it failed miserably--user data loss--without any special effort to find defects. In a former life I tested software and released software was much more difficult to break than this.
    I would appreciate any other user experiences/solutions related to this problem. I am reluctant to import another 22,000 photos from iPhoto Library 2004 only to find more photos go poof without any rhyme or reason.
    Thanks in advance for your help and I hope this alerts others to a potential for valuable photo loss (i.e., back up before you upgrade, verify iPhoto Library permissions--whatever that means--and have scads of disk space available assuming there's any truth to the error message!).

    G5 Dual 2.7 GHz 2 GB DDR SDRAM   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    I'll check if I have copies of copies of copies. This could take a while due to the number of files.
    I picked up a brand new 300 GB Western Digital hard drive thinking 20GB or so was not enough for temp files for upgrading and/or importing.
    I formatted it as a mac os extended, journaled drive, not case sensitive, one full-size partition. I started iPhoto6 with the option key. I had a CF in my other WD 300 GB (with media reader). iPhoto6 asked about the photos on the card. I told it not to download those (again). Because I was holding the option key down, iPhoto6 asked if I wanted to select a different library or create one. I created one on the brand new, 100% empty 300 GB drive. I'm not sure if/where iPhoto6 creates temporary/cache files (like iPhoto iPod Cache folder) as it sets up a new library. I was hoping the empty 300 GB drive would give it ample room to load an existing iPhoto5 library.
    When I dragged an old iPhoto5 Library onto the new iPhoto6 Library Album pane. I saw the "Importing..." start and it went on and on and on and... I let it run for HOURS and HOURS. When I checked around midnight, it had crashed. When I started it again, it said it had run across some huge number of stray photos.
    I have no idea why iPhoto6 would have trouble importing an iPhoto5 library that was below the 25,000 photo mark for 5. This is especially bizarre since iPhoto6 claims it supports 250,000 photos!
    I'll be trying to figure out if these stray photos got imported as dupes, if they lost iPhoto5 keywords, etc. I fear something different but equally bad happened since the number of photos it came up with was like 79,000--again many stray photos that didn't make it into the first import for no known reason. Since libraries in iPhoto5 were around 25,000 or less, I'm not sure what's happening.
    Maybe there's a cache or temp file still created on Macintosh HD and not on the empty new 300GB drive and a bug exists for imports when space on Mac HD is "low" (i.e., under 3.5 GB). Maybe it's seeing thumbs as files it should import? Maybe it's seeing Orig and Modified images as worthy of reimporting?
    I had told it not to import dupes but who knows if it goes by file name, checksum, byte-for-byte comparison, etc.
    I'm not sure if I can even pull up iPhoto5 and 6 at the same time now to scroll through the libraries to see if dupes, thumbs, original/modifies/etc. are showing up to boost the count from under 25K to 79K!
    Ideas? At least I know I'm not the only G5 dual user with this problem!

  • The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (-50)

    Today, I downloaded the latest version of Itunes.
    When it finished installing it came up with the following error:
    "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 127)". I have uninstalled iTunes, and all related Apple software and re-installed iTunes several times and still I get the same error.
    I contacted Apple support and was sent two emails. One detailing what needed to be uninstalled and then a web site to go to where I could download and install Microsoft's latest .NET Framework, which apparently was the root cause of the problem.
    I did as instructed:Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    1.iTunes
    2.QuickTime
    3.Apple Software Update
    4.Apple Mobile Device Support
    5.Bonjour
    6.Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later).
    Restarted the PC and then downloaded the latest version of Microsoft's .NET Framework - version 4.
    Restarted the PC again and received a strange message from some Apple application I have never heard of stating "CoreFoundation.dll file is missing".
    I GOOGLEd the message and found out I also needed to unistall another Apple application called MobileMe. So, I did this and restarted the PC again!
    I then downloaded the latest version of iTunes, again.
    Now I'm getting "The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (-50).
    From checking through GOOGLE, I believe it's something to do with user accounts and iTunes not being able to find the music folder???? But the answers I found all relate to Windows 64 pit PC's.
    I am running Windows 7, 32 bit on a Sony Vaio laptop.
    I cannot get support from Apple as I don't own a MAC. But I do own an iPhone but it's out of warranty.
    HELP !!!!
    Can anybody please help me?
    Thx

    If you go to the web page "http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923" and follow the "Verify iTunes and related components are completely uninstalled" it does the trick. There are few other folders and files that alos need to be deleted!
    iTunes is now working.

    So its working.
    I've got db_link to that db , and now call that proc via dblink from other 9.2.0.8 DB:
    var r refcursor
      1  declare
      2   output sys_refcursor;
      3  begin
      4   admin.gg_ref@LINK_NAME(output);
      5  :r:=output;
      6* end;
    SQL> /
    declare
    ERROR at line 1:

    ORA-00900: invalid SQL statementWhats wrong with my code ?
    Are there any restriction I'm not aware of ?

    Should I rewrite this as function returning index by collection or something ?You can use DBMS_SQL - but use the remote package and not the local one. This is a little bit more complex ito call interface than using a ref cursor, but is the very same thing on the server side. DBMS_SQL also provides a more comprehensive set of features than using the ref cursor interface.
    The main issue though is additional coding - as DBMS_SQL is a lower level interface (a lot closer to the real Oracle Call Interface/OCI):
    --// on remote database the procedure returns a DBMS_SQL cursor instead of a ref cursor
    SQL> create or replace procedure FooProc( cur in out number, deptID number ) is
      2          rc      number;
      3  begin
      4          cur := DBMS_SQL.open_cursor;
      5
      6          DBMS_SQL.parse(
      7                  cur,
      8                  'select ename from emp where deptno = :deptID',
      9                  DBMS_SQL.native
    10          );
    11
    12          DBMS_SQL.Bind_Variable( cur, 'deptID', deptID );
    13
    14          rc := DBMS_SQL.Execute( cur );
    15  end;
    16  /
    Procedure created.
    --// from the local database side we call this remote proc
    SQL> declare
      2          c               number;  --// instead of using sys_refcursor
      3          empName         varchar2(10); --// buffer to fetch column into
      4  begin
      5          FooProc@testdb( c, 10 );  --/ call the proc that creates the cursor
      6
      7          --// we need to define our fetch buffer for the 1st column in the
      8          --// SQL projection of that cursor (10 byte fetch buffer for 1st column)
      9          DBMS_SQL.define_column@testdb( c, 1, empName, 10 );
    10
    11          --// we now fetch from this cursor, but via the DBMS_SQL
    12          --// interface
    13          loop
    14                  --// fetch the row (exit when 0 rows are fetched)
    15                  exit when DBMS_SQL.Fetch_Rows@testdb( c ) = 0;
    16
    17                  --// copy value of 1st column in row into the local PL/SQL buffer
    18                  DBMS_SQL.column_value@testdb( c, 1, empName );
    19
    20                  --// record value it via dbms output
    21                  DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line( 'name='||empName||' deptID=10' );
    22          end loop;
    23
    24          --// close it explicitly as you would a ref cursor
    25          DBMS_SQL.Close_Cursor@testdb( c );
    26  end;

  • Can not log into server computer with any accounts - "You are unable to login to the user account "abcdefg" at this time. Logging in to the account failed because an error occurred."

    I have a Mac mini running the latest version of OS X and Server. Been running fine and flawlessly. However, I had a strange problem with the iCloud preferences panel crashing when I tried to access it, so I rebooted. Now I can not log into the system with any accounts. My master admin account (along with all the others) gives me the error:
    You are unable to login to the user account "abcdefg" at this time. Logging in to the account failed because an error occurred."
    I am able to see the server from other macs and I can log into it using the same account, but it only shows me a few of the shared folders I have access to but NOT to my main directories.
    Rebooting into Command-R and doing a disk utility, I try and repair permission on that drive and get a bunch of errors like:
    ACL found but not expected on Users
    Repaired "Users"
    ACL found but not expected on Users/.localized
    Repaired "Users/.localized"
    ACL found but not expected on Users/Shared
    Repaired "Users/shared"
    ACL found but not expected on Users/Shared/.localized
    Repaired "Users/Shared/.localized"
    Permissions repair complete.
    But rebooting is no joy...same problem. Any idea what is going on or how to repair it? Should I do a time machine restore? Complete new OS X install? Any idea what is causing this or how to salvage it?

    Got everything to re-install and it worked fine...for a few hours. Then I came in to find ALL of my network users deleted. Just GONE. Then found out the Open Directory was trashed and was unable to open, recover or restore from a backup. Looks like I may have a bad drive here.
    I installed a new drive in the system, re-installed and so far (for a couple of hours anyway) the system seems to be working and stable.

  • "Error occurred while converting the file 'song name'. The required disk cannot be found"

    Hi, I saw this issue in an archived discussion, and I just had the same problem, but figured out how to resolve it.
    I think this error is a result of:
    A) downloading a new version of iTunes, and;
    B) storing my iTunes library on an external hard drive.
    Because when the new version of iTunes was downloaded, I found that the destination folder for my iTunes music was no longer selected. Therefore, I was getting the error message: "Error occurred while converting the file 'song name'. The required disk cannot be found" when I tried to import CDs.
    To fix: go to:
    iTunes>Preferences>Advanced
    and specify your destination folder for your music.
    Just wanted to share!

    Thank you so much! I was in the same situation (iTunes library stored on external hard disk). Strangely, iTunes knew where my music was stored (i.e. if I clicked a song it would link to the library location and play with no problems). But in the "Advanced" settings, the location of my iTunes Library was blank. So I just pointed to the correct location and now everything is working OK! Thanks again.

  • A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server.

    Dear all,
    I know that this topic may be a bit old school; but it really make me mad as I tried all solutions i found and it still cant be resolved....please give a hand...
    The situation is like this,my company divided different platform as a status of project, like DEV, SIT and UAT. I got a project that require me to upgrade an vs2003 project to vs2005. I upgraded it completely and
     successfully, it works fine in development and UAT platform; EXCEPT, the SIT platform.
    The situation is very strange that, once I move the source to SIT, it return the following error:
    A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.
    (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)
    but it never happen in either DEV or UAT platform and even do I copy the workable web.config from DEV or UAT platform to SIT, the error still here and unable to resolve it.
    I search a lot in the internet by Google, but solution suggested are not suitable or fail in my case. Most answer suggest that "enable remote control", "check fire wall", "check server" etc......But as I can connect well the
    DBServer in DEV and UAT properly, I dont think those are the cause(but still, I check them all, and all are enabled properly, except my firewall setting is OFF, so adding port is ignored).
    After all the searching and testing, I believed and have reason to believe that, the cause is inside my web.config:
      <appSettings>
        <!--   User application and configured property settings go here.-->
        <!--   Example: <add key="settingName" value="settingValue"/> -->
    <clear/>
        <add key="Environment" value="UAT v1.31"/>
        <add key="DBServer" value="DB_UAT"/>
        <add key="cnBPSS.ConnectionString" value="data source=DB_UAT\BPSS;persist security info=True;user id=theloginid;workstation id=RP_UAT;packet size=4096;pwd=theloginpwd"/>
        <add key="UTBPSSConn.ConnectionString" value="data source=DB_UAT\BPSS;persist security info=False;user id=theloginid;workstation id=RP_UAT;packet size=4096;pwd=theloginpwd"/>
        <add key="UTDSBDBConn.ConnectionString" value="workstation id=RP_UAT;packet size=4096;user id=theloginid;data source=DB_UAT\DSBDB;persist security info=False;password=theloginpwd"/>
        <add key="cnDSBDB.ConnectionString" value="workstation id=RP_UAT;packet size=4096;user id=theloginid;data source=DB_UAT\DSBDB;persist security info=False;password=theloginpwd"/>
        <add key="Timer1.Enabled" value="True"/>
        <add key="Timer1.AutoReset" value="True"/>
        <add key="cnbpss.ConnectionString" value="data source=DB_UAT\BPSS;password=theloginpwd;persist security info=True;user id=theloginid;workstation id=RP_UAT;packet size=4096"/>
        <add key="cnbpss1.ConnectionString" value="data source=DB_UAT\BPSS;password=theloginpwd;persist security info=True;user id=theloginid;workstation id=RP_UAT;packet size=4096"/>
    </appSettings>
    </configuration>
    I know such kind of setting is old school; But due to this program runs for few years from tons of ppl...I dont dare to modify it unless I am very sure they are the cause.....
    May I ask if anyone cna give me some advice and help in this issue please? I already tried for weeks and turning mad....Please I really need some help...
    Many thanks.
