Strange error when changing an all-day event

Hello,
I have a recurring all-day event that I wanted to change to 8-10pm on a given day. When I tried, I got this error message:
"You can not change this event to a timed event because this recurrent event already has a detached event"
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Can you change any day, or is it just one specific day? Have in fact you already changed one of the occurrences of this event?

  • All day events sync with Outlook

I have no issues with sync my iPhone with Outlook throught iTunes. Only one.
When I create all day event on my iPhone Calendar and then syncing it with Outlook 2003 my event has shifted time zone at Outlook (with "clock" marks). It looks like I changed my time-zone at PC.
But another events (not all day) have appropriate time (iPhone=Outlook).
    Anybody helps or has ideas?

I had the same thing, I believe it is a bug with the old version of iTunes, update that and try again. I don't know if you use Mobileme to sync your calenders, but this also need updating to new version if you do.

  • All-day events sometimes don't sync from iPod to Mac using Exchange Server

I have an iPod touch (1st or 2nd generation, not sure) which syncs with my MacBook via ActiveExchange and the company's exchange server.
I have been noticing that sometimes when I create all-day events on the iPod they don't show up in my Entourage-calendar. Even if I change their dates on the iPod or change them from all-day to a specific time. Nothing.
I already switched off time zone support or what's it called although all time zones are on the same city.
Any thoughts are highly appreciated. (And no, to be honest I don't think that it's a exchange-server-problem.)

  • Issue: all day events arent shown in year view

    Hi,
the normal behavior would indicate an event in bold in the year view. but this only happens on days where normal events (no all day events) have been set up.
i cross checked it with a 2012 client. working as expected. all day events show up in the year view.
    excerpt from the manual:
    Code:
Changing How All-Day Events Are Displayed
You can change the way that all day events are accepted into your calendar by using the Options menu.
    1. Click Tools > Options, double-click Calendar, then click the General tab.
    2. In the Accept Options area, click the drop-down menu located beneath Accept All-Day-Events I send to myself as, then choose the option you want.
    3. Click OK.
sry, but i dont see how i can change the way how all day events are displayed.
is there still a need to copy the view files to the groupwise server?
    thx

The setting you quote is actually to determine how all-day events that you
create for yourself are handled (for any future event you create). By default,
all-day events have a display of "free" (as opposed to "busy" or "tentative" or
"out of office"). If your calendar is "free", then there is no bolded
indication that you have something scheduled in the year view.
If you look at an all day even in your calendar, you will see a box under
recurrence that says either "free/busy/out of office/tentative". In order for
an all day event (or any event really) to bold the calendar number, this value
    cannot be "free".
There is no need to copy views to the Post Office any longer. Views are in a
fixed location on the server (/opt/novell/groupwise/agents/data) and the POA
    always has access to them.

  • No iCal alert on "All day" events in Lion :-(

When creating an "All day event" in iCal in OSX Lion the event is not preset with an alert as it used to be in Snow Leopard. That is frustrating as we now have to this this manually.

How? I doubleclick an empy space in the top area underneath the leather to make an appointment. This then becomes an All day event but when I edit it I see that the alarm is not set. I have to do this manually. Only hour based events will get the default alert set.

  • Calendar All Day Events, Calculated Columns, Timezone and DayLight Savings - Issues

    Hi
I have a calendar where I am trying to display in one column using a calculated field (TitleWithTimes):
Start time (only display time) - End Time (only display time) : Title i.e. 00:00 - 23:59 : Test Event
So I add an all day event to the calendar for this month (February), it appears correctly:
    i.e. 00:00 - 23:59 : Test Event 1
I am based in the UK so my time zone is currently GMT/UTC.
However if I add any all day events to the calendar in April when the time zone switches to GMT+1, the start and end times appear incorrect.
    i.e 01:00 - 00:59 : Test Event 2
    Field: TitleWithTimes
    =TEXT([Start Time],"hh:mm")&" - "&TEXT([End Time],"hh:mm")&" : "&Title
This issue only occurs with ALL Day Events when the events are scheduled for a in the period of the year where the Time Zone becomes GMT + 1. My regional settings everywhere in SharePoint are correct as are all the SharePoint servers.
I have done lots of searching and troubleshooting to try and resolve this issue but it appears nobody has found a reliable fix for this issue with calculated fields, all day events and time zones? Does anyone have any ideas of workarounds?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I understand that you had issues about the calculated field in calendar.
This is a reproducible issue, when creating an all day event, the calculate column based on the Start Time/End Time is different from the original column value. The date is stored in SQL in GMT time and is displayed in SP in the correct time in lists. So
returning the start time in a calculated column for an all day event returns the start time in GMT time, which is not the current time most likely.
As a workaround, you can regenerate the calculate column to add one day/minus one day based on whether the event is an all day event, or create a workflow to copy the start time column to your created date/time column.

  • Issue with All Day events - post Australian Daylight Savings change.

    Hi all,
I have had a weird problem occur since daylight savings has changed for Australia.
I sync my Microsoft Outlook 2003 on my PC and calender on my iPhone. This works great and I have never had a problem until now. Since Sunday, 'all day' events created on Outlook are going into the previous day on the iPhone, and any 'all day' events created on the iPhone are spread across two days on Outlook.
All the timezones and clocks are correct on both devices and any specifc time appointments are correct on both devices. This only applies to All Day Events.
The other strange thing is that it only occurs for days between now and the last weekend in October. Interestingly enough this was the old date of daylight savings changeover before it was brought forward in 2007.
I think what is happening is that the iPhone's timezone doesn't know that it is daylights savings yet, even though the cell network is updating the clocks and making it appear correct.
This is also happening to my colleague.
Not sure how to fix this. Surely this is happening to others.
    Any help would be great...
    Trent

i noticed with a client and outlook, when syncing with m.me i had a similar problem where i made an all day event and vs 1 day it was two.. the problem was tracked down to how outlook makes the event; it made a '24 hr event' not an 'untimed' event.
I unchecked the 'all day even't and it showed the event going from midnight to midnight (which for no good reason it called that the next day which it is not).. I shortened up the duration to a few hours mid-day and then checked the 'all day' check and it made it one day again.
    post if it works.

  • ICal all-day event default time error

Searched this discussion and others but no help there. When I create an all-day event in iCal (time zone support on, set to America/Los Angeles)it reads as Casablanca, Monrovia when synced to Entourage. Due to corp policy I'm sync'ing with Outlook Exchange server via Entourage, sync'ing Entourage with iCal, iCal with MobileMe and MobileMe with iPhone. All works just fine in regular events ... only all-day events have this incorrect default time zone.
    Any ideas?

I have the same problem. All day events created in iCal sync to the Exchange server as Casablanca time zone, which I believe is the same as GMT. Events created in Entourage sync without error. Most events created on a PC with Outlook sync fine all the way through to iCal. This seemed to start about the same time as your post, ie sometime around November. Prior to some time in the fall, all day events sync'd properly. I've posted this topic to the mactopia entourage forum but I haven't gotten a response there yet.
I'm using iCal 3.0.6, Entourage 2004 11.4.0, Mac OS 10.5.6. Any thoughts anyone? Apple?

  • All day events are given the time 00:00 when syncing with iPod.

I recently switched from syncing with a Palm m515 to syncing my calendars and contacts with an iPod. The first time I synced, all the untimed (all day) events in my iCal became timed events, with the time set at 00:00. Is there anything I can do to remove the time from these?

    A short update.
I tried going back to 7.1.1. but that didn't help at all. The only variable that changed (from the time when things were alright to the time of the trouble) was the expiration of the SRS WOW DEMO. Removing the plugin didn't help at all.
Mac OS X 10.4.9 was reinstalled and my system is back to normal now.

  • Yosemite - strange behavior for all-day events in iCal

I have been using previous versions of MacOS with my corporate exchange server for quite a while with no issues.  After  the upgrade to Yosemite i have found an odd behavior with inserting all-day events into the exchange calendar.  Same results on MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, both worked fine with Mavericks and now have this issue with Yosemite
My previous workflow was to double click in the upper bar in calendar, open an event in the all-day area, type  in what I wanted to say, select the exchange calendar from the pull down (I have multiple calendars) and the event was done.
Now when I do this when I switch the event to the exchange calendar I get  this error message:
If I select OK the event is then transformed to a 12:00-1:00 meeting and a note is added to the  notes that the time zone isn't right
Note: the meeting does go into the calendar in Pacific time (my default) and I can edit the event back to an all-day and remove the junk from notes and it stores away like it should.  But this is quite annoying
    Any suggestions

I have the very same issue. I solved it once somehow but now it's back. I use Plaxo to sync between Outlook-iCal-iPhone and maybe that somehow has confused the phone. Let me know if you find any solutions. I will do the same.

  • Can't change alert time for all day event

I have an ipad 4, iOS 6.1.3.  When. I set up an all day event and I want to be alerted the day before, the time for the alert is 9am and I can't change it.  I went into the settings to make sure there wasn't a default set, and there wasn't.  Is this just the way it is and I either take it or leave it?  Thanks for your help.

You are correct - you can modify whether to receive an alert for an all day event, and, if so, how far in advance.  But once you have chosen to receive the alert the day before the event, the 9AM time is not modifiable.  I even checked on iCloud and on my Mac, and the same is true there.
(It turns out that other things that cannot be done on iPad, for example, create a repeating event on, say, the third Tuesday of each month, can be done on the Mac or in iCloud and then will function correctly on iPad.)
Anyway, if you would like to provide feedback to Apple, here's how:

  • When I drag .ics files into Outlook for Mac 2011, only the all-day events show up. It won't show part-day events.

I'm attempting to copy events from the Calendar app on my MacBook pro to the Outlook 2011 calendar. When I drop and drag the .ics files to Outlook, it accepts the information, but only shows all day events. I've tried changing events in Calendar to all day, then create the .ics file then drop and drag to Outlook, and even that doesn't work. Is anyone else having that problem? Has anyone found a solution for this?

Is Macintosh HD2 an external or internal HD? If it is external be sure in Finder > Preferences > General External disks is checked. Similarly in Findeer > Preferences > Sidebar be sure External disks is checked. If it is a second internal HD do you see it in Disk Utlitiy or System Report?

  • Calendar app changes End date of all-day events? Grrrr.

Okay this is getting incredibly frustrating. I use all-day events essentially as to-Do's. Things I have to do on a given day but no assigned time to do them.
(I can't stand the idea of a separate to do list from my calendar so don't bother suggesting that please)
If I do the task, I simply delete the to-do (I.e. I delete the all-day event).
If I am unable to do it on the given date, I move it to a later date. Sometimes the best day, sometimes a few days later.
    Here is what happens...
    - I select the event
    - I hit Edit
    - I hit the Start/End date, up comes the date scroll wheel
    - I change the start date, which also changes the end date to match, then hit Done
    - when I am back to the event listing, the end date has CHANGED.  Sometimes it's a day later, sometimes several. No rhyme or reason or pattern I can discern.
Help as this is really annoying.
This was happening on my iPad 2 and is now happening on my New iPad.

Nope.  In fact, not only have I not fixed it, I now also have a new problem with iCal events - both timed and all day.
Some, for no rhyme or reason, add an alert. They always seem to be the day before at 9am alerts.
If I go into the event and remove the alert, it will often recreate the alert a few days later.
    VERY FRUSTRATING!!
