Strange error when repairing disk permissions

At the end of the repaitr, it says "Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired."
What does this mean/what should I do about it?

Repair Permissions usually reports all kinds of little tidbits of information that really are not important to users. Permissions on this file system corrected, nothing was done on this one for reasons like Niel gave. The only thing important is when it gets to the end and tells you you are good to go. the intermediate statements are more information than things you need to concern yourself with...of course you can use them just to learn more about the file systems and what they contain if that interests you

Errors during Repair Disk Permissions

I get the following error messages when trying to repair disk permissions in Leopard (see below).
Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?

From what I read here, I can ignore the SUID message. What about that first one though. It was not changed (I did a 2nd disk repair after I saw it and got it again). Ignorable, she says hopefully??

When you run +Repair Disk Permissions+, it is fixing permissions as needed. The other messages are almost always just information - no action needed.

Problem when repairing disk permissions

When I repair my disk permissions I always get this message after its completed:

Is that a problem or should I just ignore it?

Error when REPAIRING DISK

"INVALID LEAF RECORD COUNT"

Yup and in fact it's entirely possible NDD made it worse than helped. That's one of the worst pieces of software for OSX every to hit the market, I've never seen anything so incompetent and useless.
That said, What I think you ought to do before running any further repairs, is at the very least copy your data files onto another drive or a DVD or what ever. Backup what you have regardless of what you think may or may not be corrupted. The last thing you need is any of these tools fixing the drive and ending up with unreadable sectors where your files sit, then you're looking pretty stuck.
Forget cloning and all that, just drag and drop files onto a CD-RW and burn them. You can figure out later which ones are busted, and if you drive does get fixed, then you can toss those.
At this point, I think you have an issue with the drive itself, I think it's more than just corrupted files. So I would seriously consider a replacement drive too. I have only seen a drive not fixable by Disk Utility or DW once, and after formatting it, I could not even install the software on it because of errors the drive was totally kaput.
How old is your drive/machine anyway? Over 3 years?

Invalid Node Error When Repairing Disk - Reinstalled & came back

Hi. Thank you for any help you might be able to give.
Last Friday, I had to shut down my macbook using the power button. It had been running slowly and I couldn't get applications to open. When it came back up, it flashed an "anti" sign. Eventually it started flashing a folder wtih a question mark on it. I booted from the disk and tried to repair it. It froze halfway and I had to restart. I repeated the process, but the disk utility could't repair it. Instead the disk utility told me that there was an invalid node and it couldn't repair it.
I erased the harddrive (the quickest way, not completely) and reinstalled mac os. The computer has been working really well for the past 3 days.
But the problem is back. I turned on my computer this morning to find the gray screen -.- It started flashing the folder with a question mark on it.
Do I need to replace the harddrive? Would that fix the problem? Or is there something else that is causing this problem?

It certainly could be a problem with the drive, but it could also be a RAM problem (bad RAM can cause intermittent memory failure during disk writes causing the directory to become corrupted.) You can check the SMART status of the drive in Disk Utility. If the SMART status does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing. You can also run the Apple Hardware Test:
Insert the original OS X Installer Disc One that came with the computer. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the "D" key until the diagnostic screen appears. Run the extended diagnostics repeatedly for at least an hour to be sure you pick up any intermittent problems. Note any error messages down for later reference. If there are errors you will need to report them to the Apple tech at your local Apple service center or to AppleCare.
I would also check your console and crash logs using the Console application in the Utilities folder. Check log entries, if any, around the moment that the computer crashed or locked up to see if there were any entries that may provide clues to the cause of the crash.

I have already zeroed out the hard drive and re-installed Panther and the upgrade Tiger disc.

One thing to note... When running Repair Disk Permissions, it is best to run it while started up normally, from your normal startup disk, not from a Mac OS X installation disc. The only time you should run it while started up from an installation disc is if some problem is preventing you from starting up normally. OTOH, Repair Disk can only be used when starting up from a different disk (such as an installation disc).
So, I would start up normally, run Disk Utility, and use Repair Disk Permissions on your normal startup disk.
NOTE: Repair Disk Permissions often gives alerts messages that can be ignored. They are more "informational," not serious errors.

You should still run it periodically. When you run it, what needs to be repaired has been repaired; consider the rest of it an FYI. I've never experience a problem, where a Repair Disk Permissions message actually caused a problem. But, if you ever get an error while running Repair Disk (or Verify Disk), that is usually a serious problem.

No repair is made at all! It just stops right after being launched
It happens either when booting on the Leopard CD or on external FW drive...

It sounds as if you transferred the errors when you migrated your files from the G4. Something in that old filestructure that is not right. It might be the ownership of a single file somewhere.
Have you considered DiskWarrior?

CD Ejects with Error Code 9 - Repair Disk Permissions Greyed Out

Superdrive 815CA Ejects Blank CD's to be burned w/ Error Code 9

The CD Ejects, but the Ghost Icon of the CD image would stay
Plays previously burnt CD's/DVD's as well as market CD's/DVD's fine
Went to Disk Utility
Repair Disk Permissions(RDP) & Verify Disk Permissions(VDP) greyed out so you can'tclick them when I click on first aid
The only time they weren't greyed was when I clicked to repair the Ghost Icon CD, of which the actual CD was ejected in the first place
I cleaned the lens umteen million times - same problem
I did the Hardware repair check w/the startup CD, same problem
I bought a NEW frickin' Superdrive and installed it successfully- same problem
I went to system preferences and selected the option to open the blank CD in I tunes.
This worked for burning MP3's no problem
HOWEVER it will not open in the finder, so I can't save any data from my desktop on to a CD/DVD, so my hard Drive is getting clogged
Got a Hammer?

I loaded at least 20 different BLANK CD's to experiment with.
The same CD's which get spat out when I open it in finder, burn fine when i open them up in I tunes
I've already bought a new drive and the same problem occurs as when i had the old drive (can't open in finder), so i believe the bad drive and bad CD premise has been troubleshot.
It seems like it won't recognize the Drive or CD when i try to launch a CD from the finder

Are you installing OS X Lion over an existing installation of Snow Leopard, or are you reinstalling?
First be sure you have everything on your system backed up. Then reboot with the Command-R keys held to get to the OS X Lion recovery volume. In here, select Disk Utility and use the First Aid tab in here to run a verification on your boot drive. If there are any errors, fix them and then try the installation again.
The next step would be to format the drive, so with your backup secured, use Disk Utility's Erase tab to re-format the drive to Mac OS X Extended (journaled), and then quit Disk Utilty and attempt the installation again.

When run repair disk permissions?

I am going to upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.
I have heard/read that you're supposed to run repair disk permissions beforehand.
1. Should I run repair disk permissions on my brand new backup disk (am planning to backup Snow Leopard and all apps and docs before upgrading to Mountain Lion - - so can restore Snow Leopard etc. if want/need to)? If so, do I run repair disk permissions on the new backup disk before or after I partition the backup disk [am planning to have two sections, one with all the Snow Leopard stuff, and one for iMac backups that will be made after have upgraded to Mountain Lion])
2. When's the best time to run repair disk permissions on my iMac - - before I download Mountain Lion or right before I do the installation of Mountain Lion?

It's not a requirement, but it may help especially if you don't attend to the state of your running OS. I recommend doing this:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Then you can proceed to click on the Install button after the upgrade finishes downloading. I also suggest you make a bootable backup of your current Snow Leopard system on an external drive just in case things go badly.

Need to Repair Disk Permissions Everyday? Same errors each time.

I have a White MacBook 4,1 - 2.1 Ghz 3 MB Cache, 800 MHz Bus. It seems like I need to repair the permissions everyday. Every time I do I get the exact same errors, when I start up off the Mac OS X dvd I get no errors under repair disk, but the same errors under repair permissions.

There is no error. You could repair permissions continuously and these same notifications will show up.
Recent updates to iPhoto, Front Row, and an update for RAW compatibility have resulted in these permissions differences. Rather than replacing the old permissions with a new one, the system sees a symbolic "link" (the L you see in front of the permissions).
Nothing is wrong with your machine--we're all getting these notifications. Hopefully a system update will change the permissions for us in the future.

Installing a trial version of the Illustrator and InDesign App in Creative Cloud on my Mac is impossible. Keep getting 'Installation failed' notices. More information gives 0 fatal error(s), 0 error(s). Already repaired disk permissions in Disk Utility but nothing seems to work. Exit code: 7.
