Strange frozen state
hi, i'm running photoshop cs3 on a macbook pro leopard - and i'm trying to save a file without restarting photoshop. i've got a file open but nothing, and i mean nothing is enabled. nothing in the menus, none of the buttons respond. it's as if some key combination has locked me out of all functions. can't save, can't zoom. nothing. a command+option+esc shows that photoshop is responding. key commands seem to work but a command+s doesn't actually save the document (currently untitled and unsaved)
any ideas on how to get out of this would be greatly appreciated!!
This is very likely if you recently changed your monitor resolution or disconnected a second monitor. The dialog box could be outside your monitor.
There is another possibility: If you moved the Photoshop icon out of its folder, or the Photoshop application folder out of your root level Applications folder, or if you hid any of those in a subfolder, that would mess up your install. In CS3 the default install location has to be meticulously respected. Don't move things around, don't rename anything.

Strange SQL statement in my PL/SQL session

i found a very strange SQL statement in my session.

This statement is waiting latch wait event but consistent get higher and higher.
This session seems didn't execute my PL/SQL's main logic and halt at this statement.
And after 5 or 6 hours this session is error out with snapshot too old.
Does anyone know what this statement doing? according to Metalink for create table and create user statement will trigger this statement. But why it takes so long?
Looking forward for your advise...If you have a problem with latch events, then maybe this session or another session is doing a similar action quite often and using the latches.
I would check for some part of you application that constantly tries to create tables and/or users. Maybe it is possible to change that logic. E.g. use global temp tables.
Also post your database version. Did you migrate recently or is it a fresh install?

What state gets saved when a JPD goes to frozen state?
Hi,
I need to know what state of JPD gets saved when it goes into frozen state after some error. Is it just the non-transient member variables that get persisted? Or is there any information about the point at which the failure occurs in the JPD's execution flow?
For example, lets say that I have a stateful JPD which does the following:
1) Initialize a BufferedFileReader from the input file path
2) Read the file line-by-line:
for (; (this.currentLine = this.reader.readLine()) != null; )
++this.currentLineIndex;
doWork();
If there's a failure while processing, say line# N, then will I be able to get this 'currentLineIndex' value when I unfreeze the JPD and utilize it to seek the file till that line and start from there? From where will the JPD start execution when I unfreeze it? With what state of member variables and from what method/node/line will it start?
I don't know how it works internally, any information regarding what state/execution-context gets persisted when a JPD freezes will be helpful.

BalwinderA failure causes the transaction that was processing to rollback, so all state changes are lost since the previous commit point. What get's frozen is the request message that started processing of the current transaction.
When the process is unfrozen, the original request message is dispatched causing a new transaction to start and the request is processed again. -
When I have documents open and I walk away for a few minutes, when I come back and resume working, my computer freezes up and the little pinwheel starts spinning. I literally have to unplug it to get out of this frozen state. This has been getting progressively worse over the past three months. I recently took it into the Genius Bar and they could not find anything wrong. They told me to add more memory, which I did. However, the problem persists. Do you know why my computer would freeze up after the screen has had no activity for just a few minutes? My screen saver is set for an hour so I know this is not the problem.
What kind of documents? Office? iWork? Text Edit? What version?
What settings do you have in regards to power saver and/or screen saver?
For these kinds of system glitches I always recommend installing and running Onyx 'Automation'. If that does not work you should reinstall the offending software, if possible.

PLease help me get my IPAD out of this frozen state. It is showing the Itunes and USB connection image. It will do absolutely nothing! HELP!!!
Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times. -
While downloading the latest IOS update to my iPhone 4S, my phone went into a frozen state with the update 2/3's complete. It's remained like this for the past 12 hours. I can't turn the phone off, and I can't connect it to iTunes. Anyone know what to do?
If the place of purchase does not have a 'Lemon' policy (three replacements = refund or complete exchange), sadly you are out of luck.
And Apple themselves do not have any power over what policy a reseller uses. You can call Apple Care and have them replace it, but the odds are you would probably get a standard replacement again like has previously happened. I'm pretty sure Apple holds their own sort of 'Lemon' polocy where if it's been replaced three times through them they'll swap it out for a brand new phone. Not 100% sure though, best bet is too call them again.
And it ***** getting a response like that from their support personel, but hey, they can't all be that bad can they? I'm sure if you plead your case they'll try and help out. I've dealt with them in the past and had one or two people that rubbed me the wrong way, but most of them have been a great help and kept me a happy customer, haha.

Strange select statement behavior in start routine during extraction

I'm receiving some odd behavior from a select statment being processed in batch mode (specifically, when run in a normal BW extractor - start routine), the select yields no results .. sy-subrc = 4 and target itab is empty. however, when i run this same select statement in debug, i get sy-subrc = 0 and records are returned!! I tried putting the select statement in a standard abap program & it came back successfully in both foreground & background. something is strange when run in the BW extractor process?? anyone familiar with this?? any help is appreciated!! Blackberry Curve Screen Frozen states reload software 552
Hi when my screen froze i took out the battery to reset it. When i turned it back on a white frozen screen states reload software 552. I would be very grateful if someone could tell me how to resolve this i think it may be a problwem with desktop manager but I am not sure. thanks

I can't get the result of this query when I run my application. However, I was able to get the result when I queried it using the SQL Server Query Analyser. Here is part of my code which executes the query.

Understanding PAL output to fix Outlook "frozen state" problems

Compared ten or more PAL analysis output, these are the main warnings and errors. Please help us to understand, give us advice how to look forward of those messages:
Questions:
- What means "increasing trends...."
- What should i do with disk queue? (exchnage edb cause main disk activity)
- How to track down TCP connection fails?
- The outlook "try to retrieve information" is Disk or TCP problem?
Which analisys may i believe in?
- If i run Exchange Best Practice and use the perfmon blg file, it show no error. (No proc, no disk, nothing..)
- If i use PAL to analyze the BLG file, i got lot of warning. (But in PAL i can't choose SBS2011 template file, i can pick Exchange 2010 template..)
- If i download Exchange 2010 counters and thresolds excel file and make a step by step manual analisys i found some problem with a few counters..

First of all
We have an intel modular server, with two host. Every host contain some virtual os - vmware -
At this time we talkin' about an SBS 2011 server and one Windows Server 2008 as Terminal server.
Parameters:
- On this terminal server we have 30 users approximatly (we have 45 user/mailbox on SBS)
- SBS and TS has:Intel Xeon E5620/4proc, 32GB memory
- Outlook set as Online mode
- Servers and users on same LAN
Users sometimes reporting the Outlook not response - Outlook trying to retreive data from exchange server....
- So we checked the e-mails / folder
- Checked the users
- We have automatic archiving so exhchange contain only a few month of e-mails.
At now, we get some information from exhcange performance counters, and used PAL to understand what happend....
What i would like to ask to take a look at our PAL output and say something 'coz we don't understand:
- if we any problem with "yellow" or just an alert.
- if the "red" lines can cause any problem with outlook
- what mean if "No Thresholds" / "Stats only"
- i don't know which one we could use:PAL analisys or Exchange 2010 counters and thresolds.XLS (there is an excel table on internet and the excel contains some counters with thresolds number which not included in PAL)

Strange Illegal State Exception
Hello all,
I've been writing a large webapp for a while and have suddenly started getting this exception. It turns up in the web server logs, occurs in the middle of a loop, and although all exceptions in my servlet are caught and forwarded to a generic error page, this exception causes the output to stop - leaving just the already-output HTML on the page. I guess this is because it's a runtime exception.
I know this can occur by calling getWriter() and getOutputStream() in the same servlet, but I've done nothing except println() on my PrintWriter after using getWriter() to retrieve it.
Anyone got any ideas on why this might occur?

} I can't see anything in here which would cause such an error. I don't pass the PrintWriter (out) anywhere... I don't set the buffer size and I don't believe that the PrintWriter is returned in autoFlush mode (not 100% sure though).
For redirects, I tend to use HttpServletResponse.sendRedirect().

Encore frustrates...LOCATE ASSET frozen state...
On MacBook Pro...CS3...
I HAD a working .ncor project...I built a working disk...something happened...don't know what...now when trying to run Encore...it is loading the files...at some point a file window pops up titled LOCATE ASSETT "nature003.wav" It is where all my assets are...including "nature003.wav". It is in a folder called MUSIC which is below the windowed directory. Just in case, I put a copy in the windowed directory.
I have to do a FORCE QUIT to get out of the program. When the LOCATE ASSET window comes up I CAN'T click on anything...I get an Apple BEEP no matter what I click on. The possible buttons at the bottom are SKIP, SKIP ALL, OFFLINE, OFFLINE ALL, CANCEL and a grayed out OPEN.
I AM SO FRUSTRATE with Encore...I produce a great DVD project and now I have no way back into the PROGRAM/PROJECT and I don't know what I can do with the files.
HELP!
-thanksbumping this. this is a continuous problem for me (on a macbook). every single .ncor project i've created has become corrupted at some point (force quit hang on load). i've seen cs3 versions of the other apps slowly get updated to remove bugs, but encore is still a complete mess. is there any word on an update?

CPU usuage is at 13%, memory for Firefox updater is 28,348K. Have tried shutting down and restarting. Everything looks normal except that the start menu shows Firefox twice. At this point there is no CPU usuage and Firefox is not running. Clicking on Firefox seems to start up the updater (same CPU and memory as during original update), but there is no window. Only taskmanager indicates anything is running. The other Firefox icon in the start menu has no effect other than to list Firefox twice in the taskmanager, but the new one has no CPU or memory.
Ive downgraded from FF4 to 3.6 at this point. The CPU usage is out of control on OS X.

Hard drive state set to "Frozen" in bios, no password registered ???
My ACER Aspire 5733 shows the HDD as "Frozen" in the bios and, obviously, won't boot to it. There are no Administrator or User passwords registered, but it shows the HDD as "Frozen" in the bios Security screen. If I take the hdd out, and reboot, its not there, as expected, when I put it back in, reboot, go directly to the bios, it now shows the hdd state as "Clear" just like the other two password states. BUT, if I then reboot, instead of Windows starting, it shows no bootable devices. Then when I check the bios again, the hdd state is back to "Frozen" and the other two passwords are still "Clear" as before. Does anyone know how to fix this ? I've tried quite a few restarts, and even with a whole other hard drive installed, it still does this.
I seem to have fixed this. It kept reverting to the "Frozen" state on the hdd even after doing the Acer recommended fix found here:http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/32674/~/bios-password-frozen#_ga=1.262809484.1609204961.1438903912 After trying the procedure, it still reverted to "Frozen" on the first reboot when installing Windows. So what I did was this. When I got it back to the state where all three Security Passwords read "Clear", for the very next restart, I updated the bios to the newest version. I used the pure DOS method. After the shutdown when the bios update was done, the "Clear" state was still intact. I *think* the "Clear" state remains, as long as you go directly into bios after setting it to that, and the issue was that it wasn't saved when not going directly into bios. The next restart after the bios update, I started to install Windows, and THIS time, after the BIOS update, the first restart during the Windows installation did NOT result in a "Frozen" hard drive state. So, I think there may be a bug in the second last bios for this device, as it didn't seem to be able to actually save the state of the hdd password correctly.

Smartwatch 3 - Frozen for several hours and unable to reboot
I have just had an uncomfortably close shave with my new Smartwatch SWR50...!
I've had it for 3 weeks (Yes, a Christmas present) and during that time I have had 2 or 3 episodes where it has hung (stops responding and time display is frozen), On these occasions I have always been able to reboot with the power button. Today however it again froze, but this time I was completely unable to reset it - holding the power button down (for ages) had no effect whatsoever. After several hours the frozen screen disappeared (battery gone flat perhaps, but given state of charge should have lasted 2 days more), at which point it responded when plugged into a laptop/charger by showing that I had a flat battery. Some minutes later it powered on again normally.
I am suspicious about the watch face I have been using - it is the 'Speeds Pro' which I find almost ideal, but I am now wondering if it could be this that causes the freezes? On previous occasions when I have rebooted from frozen state it has shown: 'Unfortunately Speeds Pro has stopped responding'. I have now reverted to the basic Sony analogue offering to hopefully get some stability, but really it is too basic for my tastes!
Has anyone else experienced anything similar – can a watch face cause a total system crash/freeze? Is there any other way of doing a reset in such circumstances?

Sorry to hear that you're having issues with your Smartwatch 3.
Hard to say what causes this but an app that's not working properly may cause the watch to freeze so that you need to force a restart/shutdown.
But it's a bit strange that you were unable to force a shutdown by holding the on/off button.That should have worked. If you hold it for a while it should vibrate 3 times and power off. If the issue remains, could you try updating the watch using PC Companion and see if that helps?
