Strange Hardware prob!!!

I just recently put together a new computer(this isn’t my first btw) Specs below. I started it up and it booted beautifully. Its restarting and rebooting and everything. HOWEVER….. whenever I shut down the power and turn it back on I just get a series of annoying beeps. And nothing…. The USB adapter which came with the board has all the indicator lights as red except the upper right one. The manual says this is a video card issue.
Heres where it gets weird. I reinstalled the video card and it started right up…. Again, it would reset and seemed ok….. BUT when the power is turned off then on it’s the same thing annoying beeps but nothing further….. I’ve tried to re-seat the vid card 5-6 times and it does this everytime…… Has this ever happened to anyone else?? I haven’t cleared the cmos or flashed the new version of the bios yet, I just wanted to see if this has happened to anyone else and what was the outcome. Thanks guys.

  • Strange network prob setting up WRK54G

    Hi,
I have spent an afternoon setting up a WRK54G (not WRT) router and have come across a very strange networking problem. I am using the router to setup a small network in the office off one of the LAN points. I connected the router up and set it up with a static IP address and gateway for the company LAN so setup looked like (Office LAN socket - WRK54G - PC). Once done the internet connectivity using a pc connected to the router via cable was very slow . I replaced the router with a switch (simple 4 port netgear switch) just to get through the day and set my PC back up to the static IP. Later that day I tried to set up the router again and forgot to remove the switch so the setup was (Office LAN socket - switch - WRK54G - PC). To my surprise the whole thing worked. When cleaning up the cables I noticed the switch was still in the chain so I removed it and the same problem of slow speed and packet loss came back.
    Any ideas????
Can the WRK54G only take an internet connection from cable or DSL modem? Should there be a problem due to it connecting to a o a LAN?

I have similar settings as yours and it works fine for me.
I guess the dns or gateway is creating porblem for you. I have hardware firewall installed in our company so the lan ip of the firewall becomes geteway for me. so if I set up static ip for the router and give the gateway as the lan ip of the firewall plus the DNS of the ISP it works great.

  • 4800 SE strange hardware problem...

Hi, thanks in advance and sorry for my poor english. This is my problem: my computer suddenly shutted down and now the motherboard doesn't seem to recognize the graphic card (MSI TI4800SE). The strange thing is that i've tried plugging the card in some different  new pc's and it works perfectly but in many other pc's it doesn't allow to start the computer,:bonk:seems to might be a compatibility protocol error from the card hardware?¿?¿? I bought it for less than two years ago and it doesn't show physical damages.
I also tried to plug other video card in my system and no problems have encountered.
I'd like to know if someone more have the same problem with this msi model or if could help me in this case.....

thanks very much for your reply. I will answer your question: the systems where i tested the card are running cards of the same and different calibre that my computer. I didn't pay attention if the motherboards were different, and i think that it may be probably a compatibility error to some motherboards. I have an Asus P4S8X.
By the way, one of the motherboards where i plugged the card to tested it were a new MSI and didn't work too.
I know that all seems strange, but i need a cheap solution... i paid 240€ for the card and i can't believe this.

  • Hardware Probe in Solaris 10

I am newbie in Solaris 10. After installing this operating system I couldn’t find out any hardware browser or hardware probing software. So I don’t know exactly which hardware did it probed or recognized.
Another problem is that how can I understand whether it recognizes my LAN card and modem?.
Would anyone please explain the whole thing?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    The minimum requirements are:
    # Minimum of 256 MB of physical RAM (or 512 MB for PXE booting)
    # Minimum of 2 GB of available hard drive space
There are more details available at:
    http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/specs.jsp
Take a look at the Hardware Compatability Link at the above link to check if the x86 system that you are using is supported, and what its individual requirements are.
    Hope this helps

  • Apple TV strange display prob when in iTunes

Have a strange problem tonight. Looking on iTunes for a movie as soon as I went into the movie purchase/rent/trailer screen it kept going black or flickering screen.
It didn't happen on main screen but happened in all iTunes screens!?! Reset, unplugged AppleTV but the same. The settings haven't changed or anything for that matter
anyone have similiar problem? Very confused. TV is fine as normal TV etc ok
anyone? It's connected by HDMI to a 720P TV

How can it only happen n iTunes store bit though? Why does the handshake HDCP only affect my TV then not in main menu etc?
It's interesting that you have this problem with the replacement ATV on one of your TVs but not the other, and I'm assuming that you didn't have it with the original ATV. It's this kind of inconsistency in performance from one unit to the next that leads me to suspect fundamental problems with the ATV design itself.
In any case, you should call AppleCare again. The amount of work an ATV owner has to go through to get them to work properly is absurd. Apple should be ashamed of this product. Make them replace it again, and keep doing so until you get one that works as advertised.

  • I broke my iPhone 4s screen, i gave it for repairing & before i gave it for repairing my wifi was working totally fine & now all of sudden my iPhone cant detect any wifi, it would only detect if iPhone is placed beside router! Is it hardware prob?

If yes than the repairer wont take  the responsibility & is denying that it is hardware problem! what should i do?

Pursue the matter with whoever repaired your iPhone. When you had
an unauthorized service open your iPhone, you voided your warranty.
Most likely the repair knocked something else loose in the iPhone or otherwise
    damaged the hardware.

  • Strange HTTP probe with .cfm files.

    Hey All,
I setup an http probe that checks a .cfm page for a keyword. according to the documentation there needs to be a content-length in the header for this to be parsed correctly. For some reason this .cfm page does not send the content-length. The developer manually told coldfusion to put the content-length in the header and I can see that the header now has the content-length. The probe is still failing with "Unrecognized or invalid response" If i put a test html page with a keyword, it parses it correctly and passes. If i change the keyword it fails as expected. Has anyone had any issues with the headers of coldfusion? There is no compression on the server side. Below is the probe.
    probe http KEYWORD
      interval 15
      passdetect interval 30
      request method get url /index.cfm
      open 2
      expect regex "go"
Any help or suggestion would be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Christian

    Hey Christian and Paul,
Actually, when using expect regex, you don't need the expect status.  I alerted the documentation team about this and they have updated the documents with the following note:
Note If you do not configure an expected status code, any response from the server is marked as failed. However, if you configure the expect regex command without configuring a status code, the probe will pass if the regular expression response string is present.
    Christian,
You mention that you see the error message Unrecognized or invalid response, even with the content-length header added.  Is this the same error message you got before your app team added the header?  If so, then I might suspect that the ACE doesn't like the format they used.  The header should look like this:
    Content-Length:
This is per RFC2616 and can be found at section 14.13 here.  Note that the C and the L are uppercase, the header name is immediately followed by a colon, and there is a spece between the colon and the value.
I would recommend confirming that the header matches this description in a network capture.  If it does match, then I would like to see the capture, if possible.
Thanks and I hope this helps,
    Sean

  • Zen Xra 40GB Hardware Prob

<FONT face=Garamond>i have had a Zen Xtra 40GB for a bit over a year and have received the "hardware problem" meesage in distorted letters. the unit will not shut down or start up without a charger. i did the logical thing and contacted creative customer support. they have suggested i pay 25 dollars and then most likely a fee for replacement, totalling 88 dollars (i paid 206 dollars for the unit new). i am curoius as to why they are not choosing to stand behind their product, as this is clearly not an isolated incident, by the number of posts about it. it seems that they are giving the market share to Mac. has anyone solved this problem? has anyone went through the proper channels at creative and had some resolution? what options do i have? thank you in avance for anyone's help. i really appreciate it!

Yes, it can be fixed. I disassembled my Xtra in the summer and found that the hard dri've inside is a common laptop hard dri've by Fujitsu, which costs about $00 retail. It plugs modularly into the PCB using a compact IDE connector, and uses a modular power plug. If the problem is definitely the HDD, it is definitely replaceable.
However, if you do this you will void your warranty. If you want to preserve your warranty then you will have to send your player in for repair. Be sure to let the personnel know that you are dealing with a recurrent problem. Keep a log or a record of all your transactions involving the repair of this player. Above all, try to be civil at all times when dealing with representati'ves of Creative.

  • Creative Zen W Hardware Prob

Whenever I try to turn on my player, the words Hardware Problem" pop up and it wont do anything.
I tried connecting it to my computer and it doesnt show up and i cant access recovery mode either. ?my warranty is up so i cant send it in. ?any way to fix this?!

Does it Hardware or Hardisk? Hardware could be the motherboard or the hardri've too. Replacing the bad part is the only way to fix it. Also the motherboard is not cheap. The hardri've is not too exspensi've. http://stores.ebay.com/Gordons-Tech-...Q3amesstQQtZkm Seller repairs devices also.

  • Pixelated screen, virus? hardware prob?

    can anyone help?
something very odd is happening to my laptop, the screen becomes increasingly pixelated in a colourful and dramatic fashion, then seizes up the entire screen and all controls. the only way out is to force shut down. at first i thought it must be a virus until some one told me that a virus is so unlikely in macs, does anyone have any suggestions, im so worried that it maybe terminal?

You should definitely consider calling AppleCare US (800) 275-2273 (or international #s)
They will probably guide you through a bunch of steps like resetting PRAM and NVRAM to make sure it's hardware related. Might be a bit difficult since your issue doesn't occur "on demand", yet if you can convince them nicely, they'll usually fedex/UPS you an empty box for your PB and repair it within a few days. (free)
Run the Apple hardware test CD that came with your computer.
Always backup you're data. (Not implying, Apple is going to drop your PB or anything. Just a general precaution.)

  • Is my hard drive dead? OS install fails but no hardware probs detected

The white imac I purchased in 2001 has been making squelching beeps during startup on occasion, sounding as if it's having trouble getting the disc spinning. Usually it comes around, starts whirring & booting up fine, though occasionally it'll fail and flash the question mark and I'll then have to turn it off and try again. Finally, though, it seems to have died for real. It hasn't booted up since last night. The flashing ? alternating with the OS picasso logo is all I get now, without exception. I've tried booting up from the software install disk, but when I try and reinstall it tells me that it cannot find a valid volume on which to install the OS. However, I've run the Hardware Test CD and the computer passes all of its tests. That confuses me a little bit-- maybe shouldn't. Should I assume the harddrive is dead and try take it in to have it replaced and try and have the data recovered (there were a number of audio sessions that were too big for me to back up), or could this still possibly be a software issue? Also, I'm wondering if it's possible to purchase an external harddrive as a replacement and just run the OS for my imac off of that? That might be a wiser investment than buying a new internal HD for an aging computer.
    imac CRT   Mac OS 9.2.x

You might want to go find the iMac (CRT) Discussions a little farther down the iMac page and seek help from follks using your same computer and OS. Everybody here has a brand new iMac Intel Core Duo, and some of the folks here may have never seen Mac OS 9! I personally haven't used it since about MAY 2001.

  • Extremely strange hardware(?) problem

I have had this Powerbook G4 1.33GHz for 2 years and until now I never had any problems. A couple weeks ago the system just ground to a halt. I had to restart manually. I have had to do this before, only this time, the system gave me a big NO symbol on startup. I tried restarting several more times with the same results. Finally I booted off from the Tiger DVD and uh for a while it didn't detect the startup hard disk (and when it did, it was running very slowly).
It was going so slow that the disk utility couldn't run, so I just shut it off and left it for a while. When I tried again, it booted up and loaded the OS just fine. I ran the disk utility and it claimed nothing was wrong.
This problem has been persisting in the following form:
For a long period of use, the computer will be fine. As it begins to reach higher temperatures (130 degrees F or so according to my sensor utilities) it starts to stall on very mundane tasks like typing. The stall is just the display of the animated pinwheel and apps stop responding. These stalls appear to coincide with disk accesses (I have been monitoring my Activity Monitor).
I seem to be able circumvent a slowdown/stall by lifting or tilting the computer at funny angles or jostling it a little. This is what makes me think it's some kind of hardware problem.
I tried resetting PRAM/NVRAM, the PMU, everything. I don't know what else to try short of reinstalling the OS (which I hear is a bad idea if you have the most recent updates, which I do). Are there any utilities I can get to monitor my fans or my hard disk? Is there any way to diagnose this problem short of taking the computer in and being charged a lot of money?
    Other background:
I don't know if this is pertinent, but before this started happening, I had trouble with my power cord being frayed and stopping working. I replaced it with a 65W since that is apparently what my model is supposed to use--however I bought it used and it came with the 45W cord. Could the new cord be having some bad effect? I'd used other people's 65W cords before with no problems.
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   1.25 GB RAM, 50 GB HD

I have a friend who has a similar (slightly later)
Powerbook. He has the 1.5GHz and I have the 1.33GHz.
Do you think these have a close enough similarity?
Try it and see, as it will run or not run.
As other discussion noted, you want to keep roughly 10% of your hard drive empty, for system files. Erasing the disk and reinstalling OS X really is, however, a last resort. As Joeuu mentioned, you can try freeing up some space to see if that helps. If your system isn't on 24x7, there's a chance some of the Apple scripts which do log maintenance may not have run. If you download MacJanitor or OnyX, both can run the scripts for you, which can free up a little disk space if they haven't been run for awhile. MacJanitor is at http://personalpages.tds.net/~brian_hill/macjanitor.html and OnyX is at http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs/english.html . OnyX does much more than MacJanitor, however, they both will run the daily/weekly/monthly scripts for you.
I'm not sure I'd agree it's not a hardware problem just yet. If you can run the Apple hardware test, or TechTools, and it comes up clean, with no issues, then you might go down a different path.

  • Zen Micro Hardware Prob

When I try to turn on my Zen Micro a 'Hardware Problem' message is displayed. When I connect to the USB port of my Computer the player is not recognised (Player not connected). In the manual it recommends downloading new firmware, but when i try to download it the player again is not recognised (Player not connected). This procedure was recommended in the Zen Micro Manual.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

That error message generally refers to a crashed disk dri've or one where the read/write?mechanism is stuck. If the disk has crashed there is no reasonable means of recovery and you'll have to replace the disk dri've. If the r/w head is stuck, it's probably a sign of impending doom and you should immediately back up any content from that dri've if the player becomes operable again.

  • Audigy 2 NX hardware prob

My audugy shut off today and all the leds are flashing. I checked the transformer output where I have 5 volts, but after connecting to the Audigy I have only 3.3 volts, and I think is not enaugh to get it working. What could be happened?

    reato,
Can you open up the power supply (might be a screw)? See if the capacitor looks damaged. If it's electrolytic, it may appear swollen or have a dark oily-like fluid on it or around the leads. If it's ceramic, it may appear burnt or cracked. Based on other posts, you may have success replacing a broken cap with one with the same specs :-) Note the polarity before you remove the broken cap, and solder in the new one in the same direction. (Disconnect from line voltage and the NX, of course, before opening and working on the power supply.) I'd still test first with another power supply if possible. You don't want to "fix" your power supply if it isn't broken.Message Edited by Katman on 02-8-200703:42 PM
