Strange Hub Phone Problem

Hello,
I have just upgraded to a home hub 2.0 and hub phone 2.1 (I have been a BT Broadband user for many years).
The problem that I have is with the hub phone. It makes calls with crystal clarity. It receives calls from landlines, T-Mobile and Vodaphone. It will not receive calls from O2 or Orange.
My mobile and some of my family's are O2. When you call the hub phone (which has a London 020 3 number) from an O2 mobile, we get the message "The number you have called is not recognised. Please check the number".
I have spoken to O2, who tell me every thing is fine at their end and BT, who also tell me all is fine.
All is not fine, evidently.
I wondered if any of you knowledgeable persons had any ideas, or if anyone else has had this problem.
Tearing hair out at present!!!
Thanks
P

Hi Rosep59,
Did you get this sorted yet? I've had a look around and can find no issues with mobile calls to the hub handset. Is it specific numbers that aren't getting through? Have there been problems with any other numbers? Do you have call barring set up on the hub handset? Let me know and we'll take it from there.

I have this problem before, Basically when I try using the home hub phone to call somebody, it will just ring once and then I will only hear a continuous "beep" and the top right-hand corner of the phone screen says "Hi" in blue letters.

    Hi SM
I can have this looked into for you, drop me an email to the address in my profile.

  • Problems with BT Home Hub Phone 2.1 help!

I've been having problems with my Hub phone 2.1 handset for weeks now. A catalougue of woes: 1. It doesn't ring properly with incoming calls- It starts to ring but then there's a horrible highpitched feedback noise and then the handset resets itself. Impossible for people to reach me. I have to call everyone back. 2. It doesn't charge properly. It makes the "bleep" noise when placed on the cradle but stops charging after a few moments. Sometimes it makes the bleep at random times. Often the phone has been on the charging cradle all night but will cut out during a 5 minute call because the battery is flat as a pancake! Which leads to... 3. The phone will cut out at random times during a call (even if the battery is showing full). There's the horrible feedback noise and the phone resets itself again. This happens whenever I use speaker phone too. The Hub and handset are less than two years old and broadband and all the rest of it seem absolutley fine. It's just the handset. Any advice please? Thanks! )

Change the rechargeable batteries, sometimes they don`t last very long, their capacity reduces and there is not enough power to operate the handset properly.
Try to find ones with a higher capacity, as they do seem to work much better. I have four hub phones, and the original batteries lasted about a year. The replacements I fitted are fine.

  • Headset problem with hub phone

I followed somebody's advice on here and purchased an adapter (3.5mm to 2.5mm) so that I could use my mobile headphones on my hub phone. Unfortunately it didn't work - I can hear the other person but they can't hear me.
Can anybody suggest a cheapish solution - I have a pc headset but want to be able to dial out using '5' on my hub phone as I have anytime calls on my landline.

    I bought a reconditioned headset from http://www.telephoneheadsets.co.uk/headsets/Refurbished-Telephone-Headsets/
The headset works fine. But when I use it with my BT Hub phone I get a slight buzzing noise - it's the phone causing the problem, not the headset as the headset works fine on the landline. Let me know if you go down this route and if you do or don't get any buzzing noise.

Hello, i have BT Hub Phone version 2.1 A Handset software version v1935i006f007 Type A
It has stopped working and constantly says searching for Hub. I have read a lot of forums and tried everything to get it to work, but to no avail I have tried to reset it but it just says not available, in fact it says not available for everything i try to do.
My home hub is Software version 8.1.H.J (Type A)
Any help will be much appreciated,
    Regards Jay

    Hi Jayzed,
Thanks for posting. Can I ask how long have you had the handset? Did the problem occur suddenly or did it happen gradually? Have you tried resetting the hub? Is the phone light on the hub lit? Let me know as many details on the problem as possible and we'll take it from there.
    Cheers

  • HH2 - how to disable DECT hub phone signal?

I have just been upgraded to BT Infinity broadband, which I agreed to mainly because it worked out as  a better deal than my current calling plan with two lines. The extra speed is great, I have no problems with that at all. What I do have a problem with is the microwave emissions of the Home Hub 2.0.
You can call me old-fashioned, call me paranoid, in fact call me what you like; but I'm one of those electrically-sensitive folk who happen to believe that having a microwave transmitter in the home is bad for your health. I have a perfectly good wired LAN serving two desktops and an occasional laptop, and I have perfectly functional landline phones. I do not need and most certainly do not want any wireless in my home.
When I accepted the offer, I specifically stated that I did not want the hub to be emitting any form of microwaves, and was assured that the default option for Infinity was to have all wireless disabled on the Hub so it shouldn't be a problem. This is not the case. I've only had it two days and already I have headaches from it. I also have a meter so I can detect the emission levels from it, and they are well above the recommended levels adopted by many other European countries (but not the UK).
I have disabled Wi-Fi on the hub (that was easy); I have opted out of BT Fon so I shouldn't be getting that either. Yet the hub is still emitting a DECT signal, which I can only assume is for the hub phone that I don't have. The engineers who installed the system were most helpful, and even called their boss about this. He said that it was possible to disable the DECT as well, but that I would need assistance from technical support to delve into the inner workings of the hub software. I subsequently spent three hours on the phone to various technical support staff - albeit most of that time was spent on hold - but nobody it seems could provide an answer to this.
CAn anyone here help with this question? Or if it's not possible to disable the hub microwaves, is there an alternative router that could be used?
I'm hoping one of the tech gurus on here will be able to help with this, otherwise I'll be calling customer services and asking for my old ADSL service back.

I'm sorry if this sounds unsympathetic, but you are describing an irrational anxiety symptom rather than any real and apparent physical hazard. You speak of your belief - I'll confine my comments to facts.
There are NO reputable studies showing ANY definite correlation between ill health and "Microwaves" (as you put it). On the other hand, there is considerable scientific evidence pointing to suggestability as the source of claimed  symptoms such as "Headaches caused by microwave radiation". For the record, the term "Microwaves" is just a loose description of radio waves in a certain frequency band. There is nothing magical or sinister about this.
The whole "Microwaves are bad for you" scare was whipped up by a small group of malicious and self- interested writers in the USA about 30 years or so ago. It was they who dreamed up the pernicious term "Electrosmog". Their propaganda was seized upon by the anti-technology lobby and cynically exploited to gain support amongst the technologically bewildered. You may yearn for a wireless free home - but you won't find that anywhere on this planet. Naturally occurring radio emissions and everyday man-made signals are with us for good.
I have some background in this - I spent many years working in radio engineering. Some of this was in an environment exposed to much higher levels of radio frequency  than you will ever encounter in a domestic situation. Neither I, nor my colleagues, nor any of the hundreds of others doing similar work suffered the symptoms you report. No headaches etc. None of us have since developed any illness which is outside the normal range of age-related ailment.
I suspect facts won't change any of your beliefs. You are free to believe what you like - but beyond a certain point, you will find it hard to get others to take these beliefs - or you - seriously.

  • Bt home hub phone.

Since last night my home hub phone keeps coming up number unavailable whenever I try dialing,It started whilst I was in the middle of a call and just cut off.I've tried everything and nothing seems to work.
It will dial out if I press 5 and then type in a number (uses the landline I think) but it doean't work if I use it to answer a call.
    Help !!!!!!
Ignore - The only thing I didn't do is restart the Hub,Schoolgirl error & everything is ok now.

    Hey there.
Hopefully someone might be able to help, but I have been having the exact same problem. I can get the Airport Express to set up (if it is connected to my wireless BT Home Hub via ethernet cable) Airtunes fine, but when I try to get it to then join an existing BT Home Hub wireless network, I enter the wireless key (with and without the '$'sign) and the AE says that settings have been successfully changed and AE is restarting.
The problem then occurs that the Airport Utility times out and says that it is unable to find any Airport Base stations. A soft reset of the AE and it is picked up, only the changes have not taken effect! Must have done this 20 times now.
It will however work over a wireless connection if I make the Mac join the AE network, but as we all know, this disables internet on the Mac.
    Any ideas?

  • I have a strange 3g data problem.

I have a strange 3g data problem.  At home I have zero 3G connectivity even though all bars are showing and says "3G" and wifi is "Off" ... unless I am on the phone and then magically the 3G data connection works perfectly!!  Does anyone have any idea what is happening?  Also when I bring my phone to my dad's or my friends house the problem disappears!! Is this a hardware or a AT&T network problem? os is 4.3.3
Also called ATT and they said there was no problem with the network and that it was a hardware issue.  Also restored the phone several times but the problem did not go away.

OK, no trouble shooting. The first thing I'd attempt is restarting in Safe Mode. If you still don't have luck try doing both a SMC and PRAM reset, it wouldn't hurt to do the SMC reset a couple of times. If still no luck let us know.
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Buzzing or humming noise in headset with Hub phone

I have a standard 2.5mm plug in headset that I'm using with my BT Hub phone, plugging it into the small jack on the side of the phone handset. But there is a buzzing or humming noise in the headset. The headset works fine on other DECT phones. Do you think the phone is faulty, or is this a typical problem?

I had this problem too. Think it's the fans running at to high a tempo. If I put the computer on its side the noise stopped...but who wants to work sideways!
    I downloaded 'Fan Control 1.2.dmg' from http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/23137
As soon as I installed it the noise went!
hope it works for you too.

  • BT Hub Phone Ringing but no call connection

    Evening
I hope someone can assist - the home hub phone rings when there is an incoming calls but when I try to connect (by pressing the green phone on the hub phone) there is no one on the other end.
    Ideas?

You have to make sure you check the corrcet 1471, as one for hub phone and a seperate one for the landline (i.e. if you ring your landline and try 1471 from the hub phone, no call weill be left).
I'm not usre if the caller display not working is indicating a fault with the hub phone (cant remember if my hub phone shows the ID when you call the landline or not)
it might be worth trying the old 'turn it off and on again' try disconnecting the batteries from the hub phone, if this doesnt solve then try a power down cycle on your hub (techspeak for turning it off and leaving off for 45 seconds).
if still having a problem, your best bet is to log on to bt.com and report it through the web, or if cant, call the tech support to go through the settings with you (they will also test to see if there is a fault with the landline, hub phone or hub)

  • BT Hub phone - Query

My hub phone fails to record my calls in the menu lists
The following menus in the calls list all show "empty" despite having made, received or missed calls.
The phone will tell me I have missed acalls but the calls list menu still shows "empty"
    Can anyone advise a solution.
I have tried to contact BT technical support but had no joy.

The batteries lose their voltage after a period of time.
You can prove this by temporarily putting a couple of ordinary alkaline batteries in the handset, but do not put it on the charger base !!
See if incoming calls now register. If they do, then you know that its the batteries causing the problem.

  • No Hub phone number

I was recently sent a new Hub phone when I ordered BT Vision.  Because of a Hub problem, I have only now got BB up and running again through my hub (its a painfully long story!).
I can't see anywhere either by post or by e-mail, that I have been sent a Hub phone number so I can't get started with it.
How do I get a Hub phone number?

You do not always get given a Broadband Talk number, I am not sure if this actively promoted now days, it always used to be given as standard in the early days of the home hub.
I suggest you contact the service dept on 0800 800 150 and get them to confirm you have the facility if not get them to add it to your account, make sure you ask for a geographical number (01xxx) rather than a non geographical (050xxx)

I have had Bt hub phones for years but over the last couple of weeks my Bt Hub phone 2.1 connected to my Hub 2 is engaged when press the green button to make a call out. The other hub phone rings (which is a previous model) when calls are received and I can make calls out on this phone. Does anyone know what I can do to rectify the problem. I have reset the hub and tried everything obvious but cannot get the phone to work with the hub although it was working previously. Any help would be much appreciated as I need this phone working in my office.

You could try a reset below as taken from the user guide, the pin is 0000
Press Menu, scroll down to Settings and press Select.
Scroll down to Reset and press Select.
Highlight either Handset settings or Full reset andSelect.
Enter the System PIN and press Select to confirm.
