Strange item named "I" run in startup, win 8.1 x64

Using Adobe Reader 11.0.08 on updated win 8.1 x64, I have a strange item named "I" on startup in task manager, as you see here:
http://i.imgur.com/4cf8TmK.jpg
Does anyone know what is this?
Just out of my curiosity:-)
Thanks,

>You don't see that "I" thing in the CCleaner startup section?
I dont't see "I" in the startup section. I only have Adobe ARM.
As you see in this first:
http://i.imgur.com/qH63854.png
The "I" seems to be a child of AdobeARM.exe.
Of course I want to keep Adobe Reader updated, so I always leave it startup-enabled.

  • Need help writing a script to delete a folder to run at startup

    I have no experience with this and need full assistance to set this up.
    I am hoping to write a script which can be run at startup on a single client machine which is giving me font trouble. Our client machines are network controlled by our server and have multiple users all in the Server user database.
    The fonts are behaving badly until we trash this folder HD>Library>Caches>com.apple.ATS
    On restart the fonts behave as expected.
    Can someone help me write a script or give me a command I can insert in a crontab with Cronnix to delete this folder at startup?
    Thanks

    They both work fine (read that as: it can be added into either place) While that message in crontab seems to intimate that Apple will do something drastic like disable or make it hard to run cron I cannot see how, cron has been in all *nix's since the beginning so to remove it would anger quite a few people...
    Having said that, If you want to make a launchd item you would put the below into /Library/LaunchDaemons/ create a file (call it someting memorable like 'Delete_com.apple.ATS') put this into it:
    Code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>
    <key>Label</key>
    <string>Delete com.apple.ATS</string>
    <key>ProgramArguments</key>
    <array>
    <string>rm</string>
    <string>-rf</string>
    <string>/Library/Caches/com.apple.ATS</string>
    </array>
    <key>RunAtLoad</key>
    <true/>
    </dict>
    </plist>
    and finally load it...

  • Several programs are running at Startup

    Hi Everyone, I truly need your assistance as I am a novice to the internal workings (system Admin) of the computer (Windows 7). My computer is performing terribly and when I check the "troubleshoot" system it tells me that "SEVERAL PROGRAMS
    ARE RUNNING AT STARTUP". I know this a simple "fix" if you know what you are doing but I don't.  Please help me....someone.
    How do you know which programs are the ones needed at STARTUP?.

    It the Resume feature.
    When choosing Restart, Sleep or Shutdown there is a checkbox you can uncheck to prevent the apps from launching.
    Also in System Preferences > General there is a hard-to-find checkbox under "Number of recent items" you can turn off.
    Also, you can hold the shift key to disable resume on a one time basis.
    If you want to turn it off on a per app basis, (TextEdit is by example, replace TextEdit with the name of the app)
    Launch Terminal and copy/paste this at the prompt...
    defaults write com.apple.TextEdit NSQuitAlwaysKeepsWindows -bool false
    Press return.
    You can also accomplish this through the GUI by going to ~/Library/Saved Application State/TextEdit and delete that file…
    (note that the User Library is hidden - one way to get there is to go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key to choose "Library")
    To turn off Resume globally...
    chflags uchg ~/Library/"Saved Application State"
    Press return
    The reverse of the first one is to replace false with true.
    The reverse of the second one is
    chflags nouchg ~/Library/"Saved Application State"
    Again, you can accomplish this through Finder by going to ~/Library/Saved Application State and deleting the folder.

    I have seen symptoms like this when a router had booted from scratch (no existing startup-config), had been configured, but had not saved the runnig-config to startup-config. I suggest that you do a copy running-config startup-config (or copy start run or write mem) and then attempt a copy start run.

  • Strange item on recent Phone bill

    Hi. Can anyone throw any light on a strange item thats appeared on my phone bill received via paperless billing, today.  I've been charged 31p for a 6 SECOND phone call......it lists it as 123 in the 'person called' and the type of call is named a Timeline.  I've never heard of it.  I never made that call, and heaven forbid, at THAT extortionate amount for such little time....should 'it' have lasted any longer!!  Nobody else in this house uses the phone - and the only number I MIGHT have dialled at THAT time of day would be 1471 to find out if anyone called whilst I was out.  Who are these Timeline calls from and whats this 123 number ?  If anyone can help solve my curiosity then I'd be most grateful.  Thanks.

    Thanks for your reply - but I never dial a speaking clock and as it happens have dozens all around this house - so I don't understand why I'm being charged for a service that I'd never dream of using......but thanks for informing me.  Time to get on to BT - 31p here and 31p there and how many millions could they make if folks just DON'T check their bills ?   Thanks. Hi. Welcome to the forums.
    Did the online bill give a date/time of the call ?
    It is possible that you made a call to 0123 xxxxxxxx, and by mistake missed the initial zero ? Then hearing something down the phone, hung up after those 6 seconds.

  • Mail runs at startup

    Possibly not a Mail issue but Mail runs at startup and I don't want it to!
    I looked in Sys Prefs at the Login items under Accounts expecting it to be there but it isn't. I put it there, restarted, removed it and restarted again hoping that would persuade it, but no, it still runs at startup. Any ideas?

    Thank you Tony, this may be the cause but I don't have access to the machine at present to be able to check. Let me explain:
    The machine belongs to a friend who lives quite a long way away from me. It was bought from a non Mac specialist who "set up" the machine before handing it over. (Mail has always run at startup.) I went along yesterday to help sort out several issues and was successful with all except this one. I've never come across a system wide 'run at startup' before and certainly on my own machine the folder you mention is empty. If it's not empty on my friend's machine, is it safe to delete the file(s) we find there and just use the user 'open at login' system instead for anything we do want to run at startup?

  • TS1702 I downloaded from the Apps.store a game named 'Ninja Run'. When I was playing this game, I got out and then received a message,'"Do you want to buy 5 revivals for Rs.170/-?". When I clicked the "Buy"

    I downloaded from the Apps.store a game named,"Ninja Run". When I was plkaying the game, I got out and a message appeared, asking me whether I would like to buy 5 revivals for Rs.170/-. When I hit the,"Buy"button, I was asked to confirm my Credit card details. I confirmed it and was asked to enter the Security Code. When I did so,, a message appeared telling me that the Security Code was invalid and the purchase could not be completed. When I continued the game and got out again, the message appeared again asking me whether I wanted to buy. Thinking that my purchase was not completed, I again hit the,"Buy" button. Nothing happened. I continued the game and when I got out, I received the same message and obliged accordingly. This went on for three or more times. By this time,however I got confused and quit the game. All these things happened on 6th September 2013. The next day,I was shocked to see 5 receipts from the Apple Apps.store in the In Box of my email account,each for Rs.170/-
    totalling Rs850/. Worse still, when I played the game the next day and got out and asked for a revival, would you believe it, I was again asked whether I would like to buy 5 revivals for Rs.170/-.
    Thus,I ended up buying a game for Rs.850/- while the actual price is only Rs.170/-,and not even able to play the full game.
    Could anyone please tell me whether I can get a refund of Rs.680/-,the extra amount I  paid for this game.
    I will be much thankful to anyone who can guide me and help me claim the refund. Thank everyone.

  • When copying folder to external drive, "An older item named.." appears even when the dates are the same

    When I am manually backing up folders from Macbook Pro Mountain Lion to an external drive, the dates for folders are being misread? It will say "An older item named.." every time. I checked the dates and times and they are the same on Mountain Lion and the External drive for the files and the folders. It should send me back a message saying "An item named “” already exists in this location. Do you want to replace it with the one you’re moving?"
    When I try to move an individual file to the external drive and the dates are the same, I get the correct message - "an item named "" already exists..." so the issue is only with the folders.
    I have only had this issue since the update to OS 10.8. Any Suggestions? thanks

    The modification date of a file is stored internally in seconds. The Finder rounds off to the nearest minute. If the age of two files differs by less than 30 seconds, they'll seem to have the same modification date in the Finder.

  • I have been backing up my photos to an external hard drive. I usually choose the photos, copy and paste them to the EHD. It has started saying "an item named "unnamed.jpg" already exists in this location. I don't know what to do.

    I have the MacBook OS X 10.5.8, 2.4 GHz, 2 GB. I have been backing up my photos to an external hard drive since I purchased it. I usually choose the photos, copy and paste them to the EHD. It has started saying "an item named "unnamed.jpg" already exists in this location. Do you want to replace it with the one you're moving? Don't replace/Stop/Replace". I don't know what to do.

    Thanks Jim, I kind of thought that was the answer, but was hoping against hope that I was just missing something. Like I said, it's not a big problem. One work around I've found is to name a folder on the external hard drive the same as the name I give the folder to import to and then choose this folder to back up to. I still get a subfolder inside that folder named Imported on...... but at least it's in the folder with my chosen name.
    Thanks again,
    Jack

  • Alternative items during MRP run

    Hi,
       I have seen discussion on alternative items in BOM. Thanks for all for sharing your knowledge. I knew alternative items will be choosen while creating / release of production order (material availability check)
    Requirement:
          For material A, I am using component B as priority 1 and component C as priority 2.
    During MRP run, system needs to CHECK component B first. If stock is not available for component B then system need to consider component C automatically. It should not create any planned order for component B.
    Is it possible, system will check automatically alternate items during MRP run? if so kindly let me know the logic.
    If not, is there is any user exit. Customer is asking this facility. Its his basic requirement.
    Kindly give your suggestions....
    Regards / US

    Hi.
    I might have typed it wrong, I think the right one is called DIMP.
    As far as I know you don't have to purchase it. In the past those extensions were known as Industry Solutions, in this case Automotive and A&D.
    Before you go to this complexity for interchangeable materials functionality in MRP, I recommend that you have a design review with your customer, to strengthen the point that if two materials are the same for all usage purposes, but only differ, let's say, in the source (different manufacturer). for that in SAP we would define ONLY ONE material number, with additional manufacturer part number info, and in some cases with a classified batch.

  • How to make 3rd party products (ie. firefox) run on startup?

    Hi Support
    I'm a newbie to MAC. I have a few questions around 3rd party softwares that I use on my windows machine
    # firefox - i downloaded and installed and it runs fine but when i log out and log back in or restart its no longer there ... i again have to run the DMG installer. Is there anyway to make it run on startup? Also, if i click on the DMG file again will that overwrite all my preferences of the product?
    # VLC media - also installed fine and runs fine but cannot get it to run on startup.
    # The last question is the mounted disk images for VLC and firefox ... when i run them it shows up on the desktop. Anyway to hide them?
    Any help or pointers will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    You need to drag the application out of the dmg file and put the application into your applications folder which is on your hard drive. The dmg file is just a compressed way for the application to be downloaded in. To keep and use any application you need to drag the app to your hard drive so that it remains there for your use. Once you have done this you can delete the dmg file.

    I recently installed Creative Suite CS3 on my MacPro. Upon startup Photoshop and iWeb run. Version of iWeb is 1.1.2. Photoshop is CS3 (extended) version 10.0 and I'm running Mac OS 10.4.10

    Paul,
    I do not experience on my Mac Pro, and I have iWeb 1 (currently) and PS CS3 (not extended). If you Control-click on the Icon of each application in the Dock, does Open at Login have a check mark beside it? If so, click to uncheck.

  • Free Naming Service for use on Win NT?

    Hello,
    I have a java application in which I'd like to use JNDI to access some Naming Service outside of any application server environment. Does anyone know of a free naming service for use on Win NT? My requirements are pretty minimal I just need a name service which will store generic Java objects and allow me to do JNDI lookups on these objects. The only service I can find is the NT File Service but it seems I can only use that to store/lookup File objects and not generic java objects. Thanks in advance for any thoughts anyone may have!
    -Jason

    Hi,
    you may consider to use FileInputStream/FileOutputStream
    to read/write your java object in the file. Since you can look
    up / store the File object, it should be possible to get its
    file name. I guess.
    good luck,
