10.6.4 - My issue, haven't seen this one posted yet.
I did the Safari upgrade last week and had no problems with it. I can't say it was significantly faster but it was certainly usable (and I enjoyed the reader mode). However, yesterday, I updated to 10.6.4 onto my MacBook Pro. Everything seemed normal until I was in Safari and accidentally typed the command for special characters and then the window for that function blinked on and off every 10 or 15 seconds but it shows as if it was still loading and then Safari became sluggish. So I quit and reopened Safari but the window still appeared as before. So I did a full reset of the computer but it was much slower to respond in every application and even with Safari turned off, the blinking window still appears. I installed Firefox, same thing. The only 3rd party plug-in I have is 1Password. My only option I can see is to reinstall the OS from the disc but I have vital programs (Creative Suite) that I cannot reload from their discs and I cannot afford to be without them for any length of time.
I have read of folks doing all sorts of command hacks to work around various symptoms but with so many folks at the same time having similar problems, I feel that doing something similar (which I admit I have no real understanding of) would only lead me down the path to more issues.
I hope there is some answer to these issues soon. Also, I ran Onyx and did all of the maintenance and cache clearing and whatnot that it does.

HTML website - jumping around the screen, haven't seen this before.
I have just uploaded a site.
www.surveyplan.com.au. It consists of basic tables which are jumping around when the links are clicked. I have set all the tables to be either 100% or by pixel dimension and either way it still doesn't fix the problem. Seems to be worse on a smaller screen...what a pain in the ***!
Any help appreciated. There is indeed an issue with DW templates and IE, the whole page is redrawn resulting in some flickering (Firefox should not have this problem with your pages). There is a sort of solution for this. It is not a nice one but it may work for you.
You can add some metatags just below the other meta tag in the head:
<!-- necessary to remove IE flickering when building up new page -->
<meta http-equiv="Page-Enter" content="blendTrans(Duration=0.01)">
<meta http-equiv="Page-Exit" content="blendTrans(Duration=0.01)">
It results in a smooth transition and will reduce flickering. I searched a few months ago for better solutions but could not find them, so I still use these

Can you demonstrate your problem with something smaller? Learn out how to do a combo box with just a page or two and then appy that to your big problem. That's how I'd do it. - MOD -
I want to reinstall CS4 as it has been doing some strange things regarding printing, etc. However, when I did this before, it created a major problem and I ended up buying a new computer because no one could figure out why it kept hanging up during the installation. Hours on the phone, no results. I'm scared to do it on this computer. Should I try? Not even the Adobe support could get it resolved. I believe it was somehow reading a product number that could not be deleted or something, and nothing worked.

In your case I would download a really new trial version of your program(s) in question and change it/them into a "real" version later, BUT because you said, that you "re-installed" already, so it will become a little bit more complicated. It would be necessary that you have to use "Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool" as Keith wrote.
Here an advice for that (The order varies depending on your individual needs. Please read all my proposals first, so you can better choose the first step:)
1. Maybe you have to activate/deactivate, so please have a look there:
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html
2. Sometimes, we know in the meantime, the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.
3. Be careful with (de)installing aso. by (de)installing by your own resources. As much as I regret it and as strange as it may seem I fear it's a challenge for Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)
I quote: Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool helps resolve installation problems for Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Creative Suite (CS3-CS6) applications. The tool removes installation records for prerelease installations of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications. It does not affect existing installations of previous versions of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications.
Please use: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html and follow the prescribed sequence of operations
4. If necessary and for further questions click through http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html and if "open" please use the chat, I for may part - as it seems unlike you - had the best experiences. I quote from Adobe's employee Preran: The chat button is activated as soon as there is an agent available to help.

I can't restore my iPod: Haven't seen this on any of the forums!!
I will try to make this brief to save time.
I connected my 4G iPod Photo.
iTunes started up.
Got the "corrupt iPod" message.
Clicked "Restore".
Connected to charger to complete the restore.
Restore completed fine.
Connected the iPod again.
iTunes started up.
Got the "corrupt iPod" message again.
I have done every possible troubleshooting step, both here on the Apple site and on the wonderful WWW.
NOW, here is the issue I have, that I haven't seen anywhere else...please read and understand this part!
- When I plug the iPod into the computer, I hear the USB connection sound.
- I check My Computer and there it is; Drive E: IPOD
- I go to iTunes Help > Diagnostics > iPod, and the green dot is there.
- I check the Diagnostics report, it shows my iPod is "truly mounted", has the correct serial number, correct iPod software version etc etc
- Here's the kicker: After all this, the iPod does NOT show up in the pane on the left side of iTunes!! I have uninstalled then reinstalled iTunes, I have version 7.1
- I cannot restore it again, because it doesn't show up for me to restore! But the Diagnostics in iTunes say it is there and mounted. I also cannot format it in My Computer...I click 'Format' and nothing happens. So I am stuck in a loop.
Can anyone please help? THANKS!What model was the old iPod?
What model was the new iPod?
The new one has to be same or newer model than the old iPod
First just set the iPod up as new.
Then update the iPod by going to Settings>General>Software Update
After upodated go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting. \When done setup by restoring from iCloud backup -
Hello apple enthusiasts I was wondering about something and hope someone knows. Just a small issue.
After sending a regular sms, i received an imessage from my contact, however from their email, instead their phone number. Probably their issue with appleID. However upon sending the imessage back, it only says delivered. Since I can't contact the person in the following days I am just wondering until then, if in this scenario, is imessage sent to the inbox (since it does say delivered), or email, or perhaps can (even though it says delivered) be lost and the person didn't receive it (as i read around the web that it is possible)? If it says it was delivered, then it was delivered. You can either use your Apple ID (which is an email address) or your phone number as your iMessage address.

I am using webmail from USA Cable, which uses warpdriveonline. They are still researching my problem but think it might be browser related. Most but not all email I send is received with the body blank. It is also blank in my sent mail.
Carole,
If it talks about your password it is probably a scam.
Take a look in your purchase history and see if there has really been a purchase.

Strange Aperture behavior... anyone seen this before?
I recently purchased and installed Aperture for my MacBook Pro. My photos reside on an attached (via Firewire) Western Digital MyBook external (originally used on a PC). Its volume name is "My Book".
In setting up Aperture, I pointed it to various folders on the drive and had them imported into the library managed by reference. Everything seemed to work beautifully.
Yesterday, I detached the drive and took the laptop to school. When I returned home, I hooked up to the drive again only find that I can no longer use the Adjustments pane. It stays grayed out and inactive with a continuous "Image Loading" warning at the top of the pane. Each photo also has a yellow warning triangle with seeming to indicate a broken link.
When I bring up the Manage Referenced Files dialog all I see is a volume called WINXP, which is the name of my Boot Camp partition. The directory path is the correct one were it looking at the MyBook drive. When I select the Boot Camp partition and hit the unmount button, despite saying WINXP, it does unmount the WD MyBook external drive. Does that make sense? What I expect to see is the MyBook volume with that same directory path. The path indicated doesn't exist on the WINXP partition which is why Aperture can't find the files.
Interestingly, the MyBook external works flawlessly through the Finder.
It's confusing. It's like Aperture thinks the Windows partition is the MyBook volume or vice versa. Rebuilding/Indexing the database didn't help though it ran without errors.
Has anyone heard of this kind of problem before? Got a solution? Suggestion?
Thanks!
Peter (in San Diego)

Indeed, I have been having the same issues and am not happy with other aspects of Aperture.
I find it very time consuming and nearly all of my images have yellow caution icons on them.
When I click on My BOK to print, for exaqmple, I get an error message with a dialogue box indicating that these file are refernced and have no reference????? -

...finally getting around to installing Leopard. Actually pre-bought it before it was released.
Spent yesterday backing up my current OS onto an external hard drive (bootable) and it took awhile but finally finished and tested the back-up. SUCCESS!!!
OK.....ready to install Leopard. Turned off all running apps, inserted the Leopard install DVD, it comes onto the desktop, double click the install icon and then clicked restart.
Computer restarts and what do I get?
http://pic80.picturetrail.com/VOL826/449837/2915627/352484852.jpg
WHAT!?!?
Do the entire process again.....+insert the Leopard install DVD, it comes onto the desktop, double click the install icon and then click restart.+
*Déjà vu*.....and again, the process and again.....*déjà vu*
Has anyone ever gotten a dud install disk???Modiver wrote:

I suspect this may be the cause of your problem: the Leopard install DVD must contain a version of OS X capable of booting the target Mac, & the "first edition" disks that were released prior to the release of a few of the newer Macs won't do that because they lack certain hardware drivers those Macs require. IIRC, Leopard's original, slightly delayed release date was early in October of 2007. Your profile indicates you have a 20" 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac, possibly the iMac (Mid 2007) model which was released slightly before that (sometime in August).
Theoretically, that means the DVD was released after your Mac & this should not be an issue, but because of the delayed release of Leopard & the close proximity of the release date of this iMac, it is possible your DVD does not support it. If so, you will need to contact Apple about replacing your retail Leopard disk with the current one, or at least a newer version than the first one released. (I believe that was P/N MB021Z/A, containing OS version 10.5. Any disk containing 10.5.1 or later should work for your iMac.) -
How do I send an email and get a recipt that they opened it?
Additionally, even if Mail supported it, the recipient would have to allow/consent to sending you the receipt - if I were the recipient, I would certainly not allow it. If you are sending legal or other very important files, use the "return receipt required" feature of US Mail - you will get a receipt that it was accepted with a signature.
