Strange line at base of monitors

Before I start yelling "Bug!", I just wanted to see if anyone else is noticing this. At the bottom of both Source and Program Monitors is a 1 pixel line that varies in color, sometimes being white, and other times is the color of another clip loaded into the monitor, then maybe will be the blue color in the new interface. Happens regardless of what type of media is loaded. I checked to see if it exported, and it doesn't, but noticed that the same line appears in the Comments box of AME.

And now after closing the Title Tool, the line is on the right edge of the Program Monitor.

  • Sporadic strange lines in my screen

It happens sometimes that strange lines appear in my screen for some miliseconds XD. It's a short time but it finishes being unconfortable.
I'm using xorg with xf86-video-intel, i've got direct rendering and i'm using the gnome desktop. Any idea?

i have the same problem. about a day after i got my ipod little lines appeared on the screen, when i have my ipod on it looks like i have little lines of water on the screen so it makes the pixles look messed up. i guess they must be sratches but i dont want a big protective case for my ipod. any suggestions?

  • Strange lines appearing behind itunes

I went away for the holidays, and when I got back I booted up my 2006 iMac. Today for the first time, there are strange lines appearing behind iTunes whenever it is open but not the active window. I tried quitting and restarting iTunes, but the lines come back. I wish I could upload a screen shot of what this looks like on my desktop, it's very weird. It does not happen behind any other program window. Only iTunes. The lines appear as if they are extensions of the iTunes window formatting, in line with the side bars, etc. Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips for getting it to quit?

I just wanted to add that I am also seeing the same problem: strange lines around the borders of the iTunes window. The most obvious ones are a set of four vertical lines running parallel to both sides of the iTunes window, although there are other strange bits as well, mostly around the top corners of the window, as well as a single thin horizontal line above the top of the iTunes window. These unusual lines started appearing "out of the blue" sometime in the past few weeks -- as in, not right after an update or any other configuration change to my mac... The only change I can say I did recently was to update to OS 10.6.6, although I know others who are running 10.6.6 and aren't having this issue with iTunes. I also wanted to add that in my case, I only see these strange lines when iTunes is the active window. Further to that, updating to iTunes 10.1.2 does not fix the problem, unfortunately.

  • Strange lines on my screen

Recently I have noticed strange lines appearing on the screen of my MacBook Pro - they appear and disappear randomly.  I have noticed it especially on and around icons, as well as around the edges of Finder windows.  Today it escalated to the point where I couldn't see anything on the screen (see attached screenshot).  My computer is about 3 years old and I haven't had any problems with it.
I just recently upgraded to Mavericks - could this have anything to do with it?  The problem started shortly thereafter.
    Please help!!

Disabling "Automatic Graphics Switching" seems to work to resolve this problem.

  • Strange lines

I create tutorials for a company. Ever since I started using
Adobe Captivate 3 (over a year), strange lines appear in the
rendered version of certain screen shots. These lines only appear
in a consistent group of screen shots. I have tried every angle I
could think of to get rid of them including:
Exporting the existing backgrounds and inserting them into a
    new project.
    Taking new screen shots.
Importing the project into Flash 8.
    Pulling out my hair.
Again, these lines do not appear in the project until I
render it into a flash file and run it.

    Welcome to our community, Scoot
Have you tried the following? Right-click the slides
exhibiting the behavior and choose Properties. Then adjust the
Quality. Perhaps JPEG or something else.

  • Strange lines in JPG export. Artifacts?

    Hi guys,
I've been having a problem recently exporting files as jpgs. I have a template for my blog -- one for a horizontal image and one for two verticals. I export these as JPG high at 72ppi.
I've started seeing strange lines form on certain files. They're never in the same place twice and flipping anti-aliasing on and off doesn't change anything. I've created several different templates using different sizes and export resolutions and I'm still getting these lines. Any help would be appreciated.
I've included a link to the original file without the red circles.

The lines on my iPhone 2G are still there after it happend and after posting to this thread 3 months ago. There is no software solution for sure. It seems that, according to the following link:
    http://www.modmyi.com/forums/general-iphone-chat/410391-grey-lines-iphone-displa y.html
2G iPhone users have to buy/install the entire assembly (glass, digitizer, LCD)
3G iPhone users can buy/install the LCD only.
Or make use of the warranty service...

  • Strange lines in pages while browsing (Render errors?)

Strange lines that look like render errors show up while browsing, and seem to be triggered by moving the mouse & scrolling. I've also noticed that this problem seems to only occur when the browser is maximized. Rolling over links makes the link text pop ot from behind the lines.

hello, please try [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL|updating your graphics driver]] - this should be the right link for your system: www.geforce.com/drivers/results/56378
or in case this doesn't solve the issue, disable hardware acceleration in ''firefox > options > advanced > general''.

  • Strange line on my homepage

Help. I can't get this strange line off my home page as it appears in Safari or any other browser. However, when it is open in iWeb, the line does not appear no matter what I do. Here is my url: http://web.mac.com/kerririchardson

It looks like iweb generated a different CSS for the Welcome page than other page.
You can fix that by changing the Welcome.css file, Welcome.css is located in Welcome_files folder.
Open it with a text editor and search for: graphicshape_styledefault
In that block, you see: *border: 1px #751b96 solid;*
You either remove it or change 1px --> 0px

  • Speckles in shadows AND strange lines in highlights

I've found that I get strange lines in highlights and intense constellations of speckles in shadows when changing treatment from colour to greyscale and back to colour in Lightroom 2.5. A reimported copy of the image will not display the effect. If I change nothing else, switching to library view makes the artifacts go away, back to develop and they reappear. If I change anything else, they are there to stay. The exported file includes the artifacts. My CPU is an Athlon XP (so no SSE2), OS is Windows XP SP3 32-bit. Images are from a Sony A700 fw v.4. Just thought I'd see if anyone else who wasn't on a PowerPC Mac is having these issues with this release as well?

Yes. At least one more non-Power PC user reported this.
    EDIT: Missed you're non-Power PC.

  • Why appeared vertical lines on my Imac monitor?

I bought an IMac sixteen months ago. The machine, wonderful! But since several months ago has been appearing several vertical lines all over the monitor. Those lines doesn't dissapear, on the contrary, they goes increasing in number (on september it started with 1 line today i have 5 lines!). For me as a Advertiser and designer, this is deadly because of i can't see my work perfectly because of these lines. Other three Imac i know of some friends has presented the same problem. ¿Is this an Imac general quality problem? ¿What can be done to solve this? ¿what has Apple to say about this? By the way, i guess that Apple site should have an email open support option, because despite these forums are useful to learn a lot about mac and many tips and tricks, i feel dissapointed because i couldn't find the right way to get a direct contact with Apple in order to obtain a satisfactory answer ot the manufacturer.

Sorry to hear your woes but joint the the ever increasing membership list.
Although Apple claim otherwise, its quite a wide spread problem and they don't want to know unless you have Applecare.
17" iMac and Macbook Pro's suffer the same problem and I have had experience with both. My 2006 iMac started to produce lines around 12 months ago and today (Dec 08) I have 70 of them.Usually another pops up every few days.
I love my iMac and am holding onto it until it becomes unbearable to use (not long now) because I only use it for surfing the net and mail as I have a Mac Pro for work stuff. But I have to admit its the ONLY computer I have EVER bought (PC or Mac) that's lasted just over 19 months before a major hardware failure started to develop. Considering the screen is the computer in the iMac its a terrible quality issue and I'll never buy one again.
I have read replacing the screen does not solve the issue long term as its a part within the iMac that causes the screen to fail. A new panel therefore could be an expensive fix and a new machine (with Applecare) may be a better solution.

  • Strange line/router behaviour.

Greetings. I'm new here (and new to BT) so please bear with me!
I recently decided to change from Demon to BT on the basis that BT is now offering FTTC in our area. It's a two-stage process; we moved from Demon ADSL to BT ADSL last week and following some delays in the order process we expect to move to FTTC in a week or two. BT has supplied a Business Hub 3 router to replace the elderly Thomson 580 and this is connected via the test socket. There's nothing else connected to the line at all. Generally speaking this setup has provided very stable (if slow) connections at about 25-2600kbit/s and worked well for a number of years.
Having moved to BT and changed the router, I thought at first that the line must be heavily contended. Internet access slowed down to the point of unusability every few hours and e-mail access was so slow that the servers timed out! Looking at the router stats using RouterStats Hub suggests something a little strange and I'd greatly value some insight into what's happening.
The downstream noise margin is very consistent at 19dB. Following a router reboot, the upstream noise margin starts out at about 7dB and degrades gradually over a period of about 12hr to about 3dB. The connection speed remains constant at about 2625kbit/s during this period. By the time the noise margin has reduced, pages are extremely slow to load and e-mail is frequently subject to server timeouts. Rebooting the router immediately restores the indicated upstream noise margin to about 7dB and normal internet and e-mail operation is restored. The line does not seem particularly prone to FEC or CRC errors and the upstream and downstream loss is consistent.
I'm sure that rebooting the router every twelve hours or so isn't ideal from the DLM point of view but if I don't do so our internet and e-mail become so slow as to be unusable. The odd thing is that the indicated connection speed never changes. It's been sitting at 2625kbit/s since I re-booted at about 0740 this morning but the noise margin is currently 3.8dB, having started at 7.2dB this morning.
Can any kind soul please explain what's happening?

  • Every once in a while when I open my mail or a page I get nothing but strange lines of symbols.  Many of the symbols are black triangles with question marks in the center.  I completely reset it like new, but problem still exists

Every once in a while when I open my mail or open a page I get lines of strange symbols like black triangles with question marks in the center.  I have reset the ipad2 to new condition but the problem still exists.

A reset does not make tthe iPad "like new."
First, let's ensure that we agree on just what is a Reset...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • Any filters to help with horizontal line jitters on ntsc monitor

    Hey Guys,
I am working on a project that has alot of office forms that appear on screen. The horizontal lines of the forms wiggle like crazy on the ntsc monitor. Is there any filters that can stop the jitters?
    I am using FCP studio
    Thanks
    Ymir

    Hi:
You can try with the standard Flicker Filter and adding a very small Blur. You must find the exact recipe for your footage.
    Hope that helps !

  • Missing images in web gallery- strange lines??

When I make a web gallery and publish to .mac a couple of images appear to be missing or are cropped.. its really odd.. everything looks fine in the preview. Also I sometimes get these really strange thin lines through my images.. I usually dont notice them until I get my prints done.. Has either of these happened to anyone? Thanks.

    nikinoo --
In the past I've experienced the same problem with some web galleries. The problem went away after I quit Aperture & then opened it up again. I then went and republished the problem gallery without a hitch.
I too have experienced lines running through my images, but it's been quite some time -- The upgrades that Apple has released appear to have corrected the problems. It might be helpful for you to list what printing settings you are using, there are tons of people here who should be able to help.
