Strange login occurence

Has anyone else seen this? I let my computer go to sleep. When I came back to it later I hit the space bar or return key to wake it up. The login window came up but it only had one login name, "The Other..". I looked at it and thought "What the heck, is my computer crashing?". Then it flashed off and the login window with my login, my wife's and my son's came on and everything was normal.
Does anyone have a clue as to what happened. There is no such account on my computer as far as I know and I am behind a firewall ( my router).

Just to help be certain there isn't a problem, I think you should get Applejack...
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, Reboot holding down CMD+s, then when the prompt shows, type in...
applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least if it doesn't fix it, it'll eliminate a few questions.
Besides, once you really, really need it... you can't install it!

  • Sourcing 7.0 - Strange Login Behaviour for enterprise user

    Hello
We have installed SAP Sourcing 7.0 and created one tenant and after that everything was running fine. I have now created another tenant. After this there is a strange login behaviour for enterprise user
When I go to the ...../fsbuyer/portal URL, it given me a login screen. When I try to login with enterprise user and password as specified in the context, it does not let me login even with a correct password. The error is "User Authentication Failed"
I just happened to try NW CE Administrator Login, after this the error changed to "Entry does not exist". Here I gave enterprise user and password and it logged into the system. So I now have to login two times once with NW UME User and other with enterprise user to access the setup page.
However this is the problem only for enteprise user and not for other user accounts that I created. I checked in NW UME, the enterprise user does not exist there. However I can see that other users that I created using "Internal User Accounts" are also created in NW UME.
    Anyone faced this behaviour earlier?
This also brings out a very interesting point. In Multi-Tenant Setup when using NW UME does this mean that two tenants cannot share the same user account. Is that so?

    Shubham

    Hi Vikram,
Thanks a ton for your reponse.
I would like to understand your solution regarding creating another cluster.
Does this mean I need to install another CE Instance and install sourcing on the same.
    OR
I have to create an Add-In instance for the current CE Server and define the Host Name of Add-In Instance in the new cluster
Also in this cluster, which context should I select, System Context or Existing Tenant Context or New Tenant Context.

  • Strange Login Message

After the latest update to office and safari, I have been getting a strange login message. It's a drop-down box that says:
To view this page, you must log in to this area... and then states an area. The latest one says:
"To view this page, you must log in to this area on view.atdmt.com:80:
    TIPS2 PROD Cache Layer
Your password will be sent encrypted."
Then there is a place to login, and has a box to save the information in my keychain. Anytime I try to put in any kind of login information, it tells me my password was incorrect. Safari also did this to me and right after the update. For a while it did this every time I went to facebook and it wouldn't let me log in. So I shut everything down and restarted and haven't had as much trouble with safari. I can't seem to find any way to get rid of this and it seems to happen randomly. I've seen other forums about this, but not for entourage which is where I am having the most trouble. Thanks in advance for your input!

    Yellowelephant
This is what I did in Safari.
Click on Safari and select Preferences
    Choose the Security option
Select Allow Plug-ins, then click on Manage Website Settings
Click on the Java item, select an option (Ask, Allow or Allow Always) from the pulldown list When visiting other websites
Click Done, then close the Safari Preferences window
And what if you do this, and these options are already selected...?

  • Strange login window when searching forums

I was searching the iPad discussion forum for information about overseas SIM cards. When I input the search string "UK sim card carriers" a sheet slid down from the window title bar asking me to login to domain "idisk.me.com:80" at realm "me.com." I've never seen this before. I tried my normal mac login and it did not work.
Now it gets stranger. If I delete the word "carriers" the search goes through without this login sheet. If I add any other word in place of "carriers" (or "carrier") there is no problem. If I delete "UK", no problem. The only thing I have found to trigger this login request is the combination of search terms "UK" "sim" and "carrier(s)."
What's going on here? Is this some forbidden search string or some strange malware? A screen shot of the thing is at:
    http://files.me.com/markmillermusic/ksn9ek

The fifteenth post on the search result page contains a defective link intended to point to Alancito's signature, which is an image on idisk.me.com. The working link doesn't request a password.
Eric, it's this one, but won't trigger the message when viewed directly.

  • Strange login problem with Open Directory

    Hi,
I created a web tool that calls dscl to create users in Open Directory from a bound web server.
Most of the accounts work fine. A couple do not. The particular account in question could login to machines in one computer group, but not on others, using the login window. But it could login on the command-line via su.
Now here's the kicker. I deleted the user completely and re-created the user account with the same login name, and assigned it to the same groups as other new accounts that work fine. The problem persists.
The only thing I've found that indicates a problem is the following from the ldap log:
Sep 17 10:36:14 poseidon slapd[61]: Entry (uid=<username changed>,cn=users,dc=<redacted>,dc=<redacted>,dc=<redacted>): object class 'posixAccount' requires attribute 'homeDirectory'
(note the redactions and username were put in by me...paranoia etc)
I used 'Inspector' in Workgroup Manager and verified that the account does in fact have the required homeDirectory attribute, and the account is not unlike other accounts that work fine, save the username and unique ID.
I hope this provides enough info for someone to give some guidance...this is certainly a strange problem.
    Thanks ahead of time!

  • Apex 4.1 - strange login redirect problem in Google Chrome?

    Hi,
just wondering if anyone else is seeing this too...
Just upgraded to Apex 4.1 and latest Apex listener. Now whenever I navigate the Application Builder in Google Chrome (latest version 15.0.874.102 m), I keep getting redirected to the Apex login page. E.g. when running a page from the builder, then clicking the "Edit page" button at the bottom, I get redirected to the login page and have to log in to the builder again. It might also happen when trying to open the "Utilities | Page Events" in the Application Builder. Anywhere in the builder really, not just one or 2 specific functions. On the second go, I'm usually lucky and are able to open the desired page/function.
Switching to latest version of Firefox has so far fixed the problem.
Just kinda strange.... might be how the browsers handles session state...??!?
    Regards,
    -Haakon-

I have same problem in Chrome, IE7
When i Click "Edit Page" on Developer panel, when app is running, apex redirects me to the APEX login page! And there is no matter, app is public or not, page is public or not. Every run, when clicked developer panel button, it redirects me to the APEX login page.
    Help please!!!

  • Strange Login in my history- IMEI/MEID

    Hey guys,
I logged into the support community site earlier today to post a Logic X question.  Anyhow, to make a long story short, when I went the page in my history to check the status of my question.
I am not hanhfromho chi minh.  How did this become my login?
    thanks!
    <Personal Information Edited By Host>

The screenshot you have was a question in the Using iPad Forum an hour or two ago. It has since been deleted. I can only guess you signed in at the same time and ended up with his ID. Sort of like the lines getting crossed.

  • Very strange login problem - won't accept known good password

I have brought an old powerbook G4 back to life, mostly to run old apps that dont run on the current system.
I did a clean install of Tiger (10.4). It worked fine, but did nto support some security protocols for secure web pages and email access, so i decided to upgrade to 10.5 (Leopard). It did so successfully. so i thought.
Got to login screen. Correct machine network name.  Correct user ID (me). Put in password.  Long delay, screen "shakes head". This occured many times. Caps lock is not on. Password is correct.
So, you say" it probably wasnt".  OK, i put in the original 10.5 DVD and rest the password. Tried again. No go, same problem.
Called Apple. They have no clue.  said re-install 10.5, something in login corrupted.  So i did.  Booted up - c'est le meme chose.
Can anyone think of what's up?  and in fact, since it was set ( in tiger) automatically boot, why its even asking for login credentials?  I suspect the two may be linked.
    TIA,
    Grant

OK, update ( sometimes people being late is ok).
    That worked, mostly.
I ran the filesystem check, looked ok.
Next command i do not understand, btu it did the trick.
removed .applesetupdone and checked it was gone.
    rebooted
    made new admin account
    logged in
old admin account was GONE, but home directory was there
recreated and linked to home directory.
    reboot
    seems ok
ran software update - claimed i dont have privileges to save the file - -seems to be updating anyway, we shall see.  More oddity.
Will reboot next week. Gotta go.
Many thanks, btu this is a work-in-progress
OOOPS!!! Kernel panic while updating. Leaving dodge. Speak next week.

  • Strange Login problem

    Hello.
I was wondering if anybody had any idea of what is wrong with my Macbook.
I shut it down yesterday and came back to it later to turn it on, it loaded up as far as the login page, I inputted my password, it accepted and then sort of hung on the wallpaper for a few seconds, then it hung on a blue screen for even longer, then just took me back to the login page.
My password was Definitely inputted correctly.
I have also tried the 'fsck -f' thing when booting up. It said there was nothing wrong to report.
I did notice something when I tried running Disk Utility from my install disc. I chose my HD and clicked on Repair. As it was running through it's process it said there was an error in 'header' or something, which it then fixed. I don't know the relevance of this because i'm not that technically minded.
I also ran Verify just in case.
I restarted and nothing had changed. Login still hung at that blue screen for a few seconds, then took me back to login page.
One of the major problems is I have a whole terms worth of work on it that I'm worried I'm going to lose. I have Time Machine Running but I don;t know if i have to restore my HD and install leopard again, would it continue to hold all the files that are already backed up or would I have to set it all up again?
I know this is two problems but I am worried about losing ALL my work and figured if the login issue could be resolved, I could save my work.
    Thanks

Have you tried running Disk Utility while booted from the Install DVD? Try that if you haven't. Time machine won't give you a 'bootable' backup, but if you have to reinstall, you can use it to 'restore' from ...so your data that is there will be brought back into the system.
An SMS and Pram reset might clear things up as well...

  • Strange login name appears on start up

Today a new profile appeared in the drop down menu when I start up Skype and want to choose which profile to log on with. The profile name is aneeq.patel. Has anyone experienced this? My computer has not left my apartment, so where did the profile come from?

everytime a new account login in Skype using your computer, the corresponding username will be added in the dropdown selection list in the login window.  So that may mean someone who have access to your computer within your apartment has login to their Skype account using your computer (?).  I also checked the username in question and the registered country is Denmark.

  • Strange problems on Macbook Pro over past year...

I'm about to do an erase and install after having numerous strange problems on my mid 2009 17" Macbook Pro (Leopard) over the past year, some of which I have opened threads for on these forums.
They are listed bellow to see if anyone wants to give their final two cents as to what is causing them. They may or might not be related.
    1) I recently found the "Unknown" user classifications at second from top in the user priveleges for the main Macintosh HD folder and "Local Work" – which is my main folder for work.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2741617&tstart=0
    2) Last Summer I had some very strange login problems which were well documented in this very long winding thread here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2485199&tstart=0
    3) Can't access iTunes store due to this error code -54. Thread opened here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2653733&tstart=0
    4) Some proceses I've seen in the activity monitor that are possibly a little sketchy are as follows:
    - "netsessionmac1" ... Akamai playing about?
    - "TaskManagerDaemo" ... with "Root" user, ... sounds a bit vague and possible malware according to google?
    5) In Skype I get constant warnings of other computers trying to connect from Little Snitch and Virus Barrier. I get so many of them one after they other pausing skype that I can only use Skype with Little Snitch off. I can only use it late at night also as there seems to be more attempts being blocked in virus barrier during the day that I can't even get past the login:
    Some examples in screen grabs:

    http://oi55.tinypic.com/2v2w941.jpg
And other examples of the hundreds of different IP addresses I've had asking to access computer on some obscure 4 digit port:

    http://whatismyipaddress.com/ip/85.15.190.49
    ... etc
    6) I have to constantly open and close Mail after it hangs on sending. Says there is a connection problem on port 110 or whatever, but words fine as soon as I open again. This problem happens particularly when I want to send from my 2nd or 3rd POP or IMAP other than my normal one.
    7) Slow Safari/Firefox and internet.
    8) I got this strange warning about my IP changing recently when downloading a file:
    http://oi53.tinypic.com/2z4b77o.jpg
    9) My internet cuts out for large periods of time while the other PC desktop in my house works perfectly fine.
Well, any last suggestions much appreciated. Many thanks.

I suppose your expanding battery problem could have caused some or all of these problems, but most of them sound like software issues.
If I were you I'd try a few things:
    1. boot from your snow leopard install disk and repair your startup disk with disk utility.
    2. repeat the repairs until no repairs are reported (the toilet paper principle).
    3. repair permissions again.
    4. if the problems persist, trash the preferences files for the misbehaving apps.
    5. if the problems persist, delete the misbehaving apps and reinstall them.
    6. it the shutoffs persist, try a PMU reset.
    7. a PRAM reset would probably be a good idea too.
    8. if none of that works, archive and reinstall.
there is a freeware utility called applejack that will also do most of this.
Details on all of these will be readily available with a google search.

  • Unwanted Login at startup

When I first setup my system I had it set to automatically log in at startup but somehow I've done something (have no idea what) and now every time I start up it shows what looks like the OS 9 desktop image and asks for my password which after inserting it everything starts up to my 10.4.11 desktop normally.
How do I get it to startup without the strange login procedure.
And yes I'm fairly new to Mac only had it for about 6 months.
    Thank you in advance.

I feel so stupid, I thought I had done the select apple> accounts> password> login options thing but apparently I was asleep at the wheel.
Really did think I'd chose the automatically login option, DUUUUUUUUUUUUH!
The next question I would have if I had one would be, Why did I think this was going to be hard?
    It's a Mac after all.
Thank you very much Limnos, have a wonderful day.

  • Network crashes on startup

    The Problem:
Currently, my Open Directory master server seems to not be able to startup networking while booting from a restart. Network becomes at least partially available once the server has finished booting, but some services, such as login authorization for my 90 lab workstations, won't work until I send a HUP command to lookupd on the server.
    Problem History:
The problem started Friday morning, when I was informed that no one could log in to the classroom Macs. Investigating the server's log file, I found that the network connection had dropped around 7am (all servers showed a dropped network around the same time), but this particular server didn't handle it very well. Here's the log for that time:

Mar 30 09:28:34 Brady DirectoryService[41]: GSSAPI Error: Miscellaneous failure (Server not found in Kerberos database)
This was all on OS X Server 10.4.3. After logging in, I had full access to the Internet, and could run lookups on ntp.indiana.edu (which it couldn't find on startup) and browse the web. Strangely, logins for our file sharing server (which is a replica of the OD master server) worked fine as long as the OD master was on. Here's what wasn't working (that I know of):
OD authorization for the lab workstation (bound via LDAPv3)
    OD replication to file server
    Retrospect network registration
Sending a "kill -HUP" command to the lookupd process fixed all the OD-related problems (until I restart, and have to do it again), but I'd like to know what's going on at startup. Any ideas?
Also, the server is now at 10.4.5, for Indiana's new switch to Daylight Saving Time. That didn't fix the problem.
    Thanks,
    Ryan

This is still happening. I actually completely rebuilt the server, upgraded it to Server 10.4.6, and imported my users, groups, and computer lists.
I also have two OD replica servers, which I am going to rebuild and take off of replication duties.

  • Song titles are getting cut off for some reason

I never had this problem before but for some reason the last few songs I have imported and encoded into AAC have the titles cut off after (I guess) a certain amount of characters. This has never been a problem before. Is there a preference that I need to change? I'm running 7.0.1.8 for Windows.
I have many other songs with longer titles than the latest I have uploaded. This is a strange new occurence.
    Thanks in advance

  • Kdcmond restarting every 10 seconds

I am getting the following console message repeatedly:
    6/12/08 8:08:41 AM com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.kdcmond) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
    6/12/08 8:08:51 AM com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.kdcmond[573]) Exited with exit code: 2
Strangely, logins are working, and, besides not being able to join an existing Active Directory, the server appears to be running with any issues.
Throughout the day, I'm getting thousands of these messages. I have Leopard Server, 10.5.3, all the latest patches and a reboot does not help.
    Any ideas? Thanks.
