Strange MacJanitor (chron) reports

Hi, and Happy Holidays. (This is also posted on the Tiger discussion page, but no one there had any ideas.) Recently ran MacJanitor, and got this:
Rebuilding locate database:
Rebuilding whatis database:
find: /usr/local/man: No such file or directory
makewhatis: /usr/share/man/man1/c++.1: No such file or directory
makewhatis: /usr/share/man/man1/cc.1: No such file or directory
makewhatis: /usr/share/man/man1/cpp.1: No such file or directory
makewhatis: /usr/share/man/man1/g++.1: No such file or directory
makewhatis: /usr/share/man/man1/gcc.1: No such file or directory
makewhatis: /usr/share/man/man1/gcov.1: No such file or directory
Rotating log files: ftp.log lpr.log mail.log netinfo.log ipfw.log secure.log
Don't recall ever seeing this report before. I then ran the install disc, had Disc Utility repair the volume (no errors found), ran permissions from start-up disc (also fine), and cleaned with OnyX. A second run of MacJanitor gave me the same message. Anyone know what this means, and if I should be concerned? Running an iMac G5 17" PPC iSight 160gb w/1gb of memory, last model before the Intels came out. Machine is running well, no strange behaviors. Haven't thrown out any OS files or changed anything (been using X since 10.0.3, know better!), or even added new apps recently. Did update w/newest Security patch, added the MS Office 2004 update (the one that was recalled) and updated Aperture in the last week. Thanks for the help.

Since MacJanitor is the only utililty finding any errors, suggest that you cross-post over at the manufacturer's support site forum.
Hopefully, a knowledgeable user and/or Brian Hill himself will be able to explain what that error means.
Good luck!

    Hi Hussien,
I tried thart solution but it not worked. i put some debug statement in Before Parameter form, after Parameter form, before report triggers. When i am running that report i am getting the debug statement of Before and After Parameter triggers but it is failing somewhere in Before Report Trigger.
I removed everything from Before Report Trigger and still the result is same "Invalid Body Size".
Please Hussien give me a some pointer which stage is processed between After Parameter Form trigger and Before Report Trigger.

I don't know MacJanitor, but I suspect those entries are associated with it running the weekly maintenance task. You're getting those messages because those items don't exist. At least, there's no man directory in my /usr/local/ directory and none of the files listed for /usr/share/man/man1/ are on my machine, My perusal of the weekly.out log only shows the first entry.
Launch the Terminal.app in /Applications/Utilities, enter this command, hit the return key, enter your admin password (carefully, since it doesn't show up on the screen), and hit the return key:
    sudo periodic weekly
wait until you get the prompt back and then enter this command and hit the return key:
    cat /var/log/weekly.out[b>
The file that displays should have those same entries.

  • Strange discrepancy in report painter

    Hi everyone,
I've designed a report painter with all the respective columns & formulas intact but at the Grand Total col (summation of all the sub-totals), the figure doesn't tally with all the sub-totals. All sub-totals have been added correctly but when they are added up to the Grand Total, the fig doesn't tie.
Any clues? Have I missed out something?

    Hi Andrew,
I've checked the sub-totals and apparently, when i double click on a sub-total to drill down to line item lvl, the fig doesn't seem to tie in with what I see in the report painter report. It's real strange that the correct fig appears upon drilling down to line item level but at a higher level, the fig isn't right. It's short of a fig which is in relation to another column.
I've double checked the formula at the sub-total col and all the cols in the formula are present. This is the bizarre thing which I've been trying to resolve for the past few days.
    Best Regards,
    Ethan

  • Strange case! Report ran report runtime gave different result from reoprt builder

    Hi all,
I have a report which was developed with developer/2000 R1.6. I used it for generating monthly report to user for more than a year.
Recently, I converted it to R2.1 and used it. However, strange thing happened, It gave correct result in report builder, but when I generated the rep file, and ran it in runtime, it gave wrong result. The report figures were wrong, and it had more pages than the correct one.
I also converted others reports, but they are ok, only this one that I cannot run it runtime because of this.
I don't think anyone would have experienced the same case before, so I think that I am helpless. I just want to my strange experience to you all.
    Vanessa

I suspect you have a stronger path somewhere else to the wrong report. Check your registry and search all your accesible drives for filenames that are called the same name.

Hello fellow. I am using Oracle Report 6i and when I want to print a character mode report me strange symbols appear at the end of the lines, as you can see in the picture:

Según esta revisado, sería problema de espacio, pero ya le di mayor margen al reporte, he hecho la letra mas pequeña y nada ha resuelto el problema. ¿Alguna sugerencia? De antemano, gracias.

Under this revised, would be space problem, but it gave greater scope to the report, I made the smallest point and nothing has solved the problem. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

    Hi Pat
The answer is no, not in Reports 6i.
Reports 9i, however, includes rich PDF enhancements such as Type1 font embedding and Type3 font subsetting that can be used to display Chinese characters.

  • Strange characters on report from field overrun

We have a report, created with Cystal Reports 10, that is now giving us an issue. It is displayed via web browser.
When displayed using Crystal Enterprise 10, it looks fine. But when displayed with CR XI r2 JRC, we get strange characters after the field when the field on the report is overrun. The field on the report is not formatted wide enough for all data but this has not been an issue in the past, the overrun just displayed fine.
The display we are getting looks like:
    For short data we get:
    *TEST
For longer data (overrun) we get:
    *TEST1瀲瀀猀
    That should have displayed *TEST12.
I think I can get around this by formatting the field wider (I have not tried it yet) but we wanted to know if this was a known issue with a root cause / fix.

    - The report is only generated and viewed via the web browser. A web screen takes criteria for the report data, does an SQL call to pull the data into a report table, and then calls the CR report viewer to display the data.
    - JRC is the java Runtime Component. In CR XI, a package is supplied to install as part of the web server for doing the web report viewing withut having to install CR Enterprise.
    - The original .rpt file, the report template, does not have the characters in it nor do they show up in Crystal Reports in any way that I have found to try to test.
    - With using the JRC, there is no CE10 database. As noted above, CR Enterprise is not installed. As for the database that contains the report data table, it is MS SQL Server 200 with all appropriate patches applied.
I just tested extending the display field to well longer than the data but it did not help. The strange characters are still being displayed.

    thanks

I created it with the follow tool:

    These are the field characteristics:
    type: alphanumeric

  • Strange characters in report .csv export

    Hello,
When I enable .csv export in my report, a name like Chiràc Jaqués apears as Chirèc Jaqués in the csv.
I understand it has to do with charactersets but I don't know how to solve it.
    Cheers

    Jacob,
    go to:

  • RAXINV - Strange problem in Report Builder

I'm having a very wierd problem in Report builder 6.0.8.27.0. I'm simply trying to add two additional columns to the AR Invoice report (RAXINV) so that they get included in the XML output. This report has a main query called Q_INVOICE which is basically a dummy query to set the column aliases and at the end of the query it does a UNION with the user parameter &common_query.
So, what I have done is gone into the common_query parameter and added the two extra dummy columns before the FROM statement (I've tried adding at different places but always the same result). Once that is done I've then gone into the Q_INVOICE query and added the same two columns. When I hit the OK button to update the query is when my problems start.
There is a group in the report called G_ORDER_BY that has the field ORDER_BY in it. After clicking ok to update the query the G_ORDER_BY now has a field called BILL_CUST_NAME1, but the XML tag is still saying ORDER_BY. This happens to many fields in the report (the names are changed/corrupted) and as such the report is now useless as it won't compile.
I have no idea why this would happen and I've never seen anything like this before.
Can anyone provide any help on this ? I've logged an SR on this too but wanted to try here also incase someone had already crossed this problem.

    Dave,
Not sure if its relevant or not, but I just fixed this issue, you need to change your query in three places, common_query parameter, build_query program unit and the main query itself in report editor.
    Cheers,
    Zeeshan

  • Finder / Pathfinder - strange file permissions reported

I think I have several issues relating files on my Netgear ReadyNAS.  I think this is caused by permissions issues but I need some advice as to how OS X handles permissions.
As part of my troubleshooting I have checked files using Finder and using Pathfinder.  If I check permissions of a file on my NAS using Finder I see: Owner - (unknown), Group - staff and Everyone. If I check the same file using Pathfinder I see: Owner - markwagstaff (501), staff (20) and Everyone appears in the permissions table. Permissions are the same despite the Owner being unknown using Finder.
If I then copy the file to the desktop and check permissions again Finder and Pathfinder are identical; Finder identifies Owner as markwagstaff (me).
I use the same username to log into the NAS and the Mac (markwagstaff).
Is this behaviour expected? Why is Finder unable to identify the correct Owner name for files on the NAS? What are do the codes reported for owner and group (501) and (20) mean?
    Thanks in advance.

    More info...
If I check "ignore ownership" on the volume, I can share folders on the volume.  However the permissions set in the sharing control panel are ignored.  Any user can modify (R/W) the shared folder.
If I uncheck "ignore ownership" on the volume, and set the permissions, and "apply to enclosed items", I can no longer share the folder, regardless of the permissions defined in either the sharing control panel, or the folder's get info.
My internal (root) drive has permissions, and sharing works on that volume.  I checked the other USB volume, and it looks like ownership is ignored.
Is this a known issue, that you can't share from a USB drive unless "ignore ownership" is selected?
