Strange marks on images

Has anyone ever noticed a thin, sometimes rainbow colored line at the borders (mine are at the bottom) of their images? The only way to get rid of it seems to be to crop it out of the image. I'm wondering if the images got corrupted somehow, or what? When I export the Master and open it in Preview, the marks are not there. Before making a huge effort to do something, I'd like to get some feedback on what it is and what to do.
Thanks,
Mac

Frank,
Actually, they were all similar enough to be able to crop, lift and stamp, so the viewable versions are all in working order. Problem solved. At this point, I'm just seeing if there are any other answers as far as fixing the Masters? I do not have any known backups of the originals before they were corrupted. The only thing that comes to my mind is to export all of the cropped versions and then to reimport them as Masters, but I really don't know what I would be doing. I mean, I know how to do that, but don't know if doing it somehow diminishes the image quality. The strange thing is, when I export the version, it is almost 4 times the size in MB of the Master (after exporting the Master). I don't fully understand image size as it relates to image quality, but I was always under the impression that the larger the file size, the more data stored and the higher the quality of the image. Therefore, a 5MB JPEG is of higher quality than a 2.3MB JPEG for example. Since the originals were JPEGS, I would assume that by exporting versions of the Master, I would be compressing an already compressed image? I don't really know, so I am not going to do anything about this unless someone can shed some clear light on what it all means, and what the ramifications of these types of actions would be.

  • Strange marks in page list

This is my list of pages in a book of over 150 pages. In the pages list I have these strange marks indicated by arrows. Anyone know what they are and how did I get them?

Sorry to keep going on about this but I would like to find out more. I have checked other Indesign files with section breaks but they do show these marks. Also the file that shows the marks in the pages list has a square bracket around pp xii-1. Hope the image will show you this.

Everything looks correct, the device is answering, but during reading a feedback message i receive a strange marks(attached jpg). I wrote adequate software in c# to have sure the external equipment is available, it works. So i checked if in my .vi are any bytes in the received buffer of Rs232, yes they are...So the problem is in LABView. Does anyone have had the same situation?
I am wondering if there is no any problem with fonts or something?

You should only be configuring your port once.  That should be done before this loop.  By configuring the port inside of the loop, you are reinitializing that port with every call.  That could cause weird things while the configuring is happening.
You should probably have a wait sometime between your write and your read to allow your device to respond.
Is your device sending an End Of Line character at the end of each message?  If so, get rid of the "Bytes At Port" propery node.  Just tell the read to read something really large.  It will automatically stop reading when that End of Line character is found.  If it isn't sending that character, you should disable that with the Configure Serial Port (that you should have BEFORE that loop).

  • Strange marks on Curve 8900 screen

    Hi folks,
I hope someone can help me out. I have a new blackberry 8900 javelin (have like 4 months of use) and some strange marks appeared on the screen. They are small marks, but they don't disappear. I had the same problem with my last curve 8900 (I had 3 8900 models) but last time, the marks disappeared in a few days. Those on mine are not disappearing. I know it's not a liquid crystal leak, it's a malfunction or something, because the mark had a different shape in a few days ago. Here are some pictures i took to show the problem.
hope someone can help me out!
    thanks guys!

    Hey eduardopfm,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
Those marks are definitely hardware/lcd screen related.  I would suggest contacting your network service provider or point of sale for repair options as this is not software related.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • How to mark (psd) Images with the Circle Symbol without duplicating them

I would like to import my layered images in Aperture.
The problem is i would like to further adjust them in photoshop cs3 without creating a duplicate.
Is there a possibility to mark this images with the Circle Symbol (for edited with external editor) or do I really have to open each image than close again, delete the master and then the remaining image with the circle can be opened and further enhanced in Photoshop without duplicating the image.
    Another example:
I like to open a psd file within aperture with: edit with Adobe Photoshop CS3.
The Image should open without being duplicated. Then I could drag the layer into another PSD document and close it again.
Right now I would end up with a Master Duplicate which I have to delete afterwards.
I know I could use referenced files and say show in finder but I like managed better,
    also:
Show in finder does show you only one image (I like to do that to 5 or 10 images at once).
    bc

Like I said if you want to get into the programming business you can modify the aperture database directly but I don't know of an easier way with managed masters. You can always just do your workaround to files that you are actually working on and you only need to do it once.
Sorry there is no answer to easier answer to deal with all of them at the same time. At least none I can think of off the top of my head.
    RB
Ps. Lightroom can just open your PSD files but that is an apples and oranges thing. Lightroom is not trying to manage your masters for you in a managed library an ensure that nothing modifies them, if you are ok with that method than referenced files should be ok with you as well, you can always use referenced for your legacy PSDs and use a managed methodology for your new images going forward starting with the source image.

  • I think I am having shutter issues with my 5D mark iii. image is vignetting on top of frame.

I think I am having shutter issues with my 5D mark iii. image is vignetting on top of frame. ( left side when shooting portrait).
does not happen all the time. shoot 20 frames, not a problem then will happen 4 or 5 in a row or every other shot for a few shots.
Studio situation with 4 lights but it is not a light issue. subject is dark also. all lights fire at full.  happens weather at 1/100 or down to 1/20. these 4 examples were shot at 1/50  f 10 iso 100. raw converted to jpeg. shooting teathered but I dont think that matters. has anyone else had shutter issues? can any one from canon give me any info or help??

It may be that the flash is firing as the shutter is opening... but if you're having an issue with a sticking shutter, the shutter isn't completely open when the flash fires.
If this is the case then it wouldn't matter how long the shutter is open because the flash doesn't provide light continuously when the shutter is open... it only gives a burst.  That momentary burst is normally fired at the moment the shutter finishes opening up completely (but if the shutter is sticky and isn't completely finished opening when the flash fires... you'd have a dark edge.)
If you used 2nd curtain shutter so that it doesn't fire until the moment before the shutter is intended to close, you shouldn't see vignetting even if the shutter is sticking.
But this makes me wonder what the shutter count is on your body and if it needs service.

  • Mark several images at once with one or more stars

    howdy,
using aperture 3 and am mostly happy with it (except a nasty import bug). however, a question about marking images with * to *** stars:
if I select several images at once within the aperture browser, is there a way to mark those images with a * star rating alltogether?
maybe I am to dumb, but if I select a couple of images, this is not possible. I have to move to every image with the cursor key, mark it with * star and then to the next.
    did I oversee something?
    thx

There are many reasons that "Primary only" is an option. Often you want to have multiple photos selected, but apply changes to only one of them.
A read of the documentation or a good tutorial book would elicit some helpful workflow advice for Aperture, if you'd care to invest the time

  • Strange marks/dents on 2010 Unibody MacBook Pro

    Hey everyone,
Had my MacBook Pro 15" from new in late 2010, and it's been great so far.
More recently, I've been noticing these very strange marks on the casing, on the bottom right corner, near to the IR port (next to the flashing white light). There's a mark on the front, which looks as if it's "coming out" of the IR slot, and then another mark on top of the casing, in the same location (this one can't really be seen in the attached photos). They don't seem to be stains as such, but more depression marks that you'd get if you compressed soft metal. They're like white-coloured creases in the metal - very weird!
I've tred rubbing/cleaning, but they won't go away. Thinking about it, I'm right handed, and the marks are right under where I rest my arm/wrist when typing. There is also a faint line starting to appear to the right of the trackpad, which I have noticed over the last few days. But I would have thought that the Unibody would be able to take more than just the weight of my forearm! I don't lean on the MacBook, just lightly rest my wrist whilst typing. There're not sweat stains, either, because I lean on my shirt sleeve, as opposed to my bare skin touching the MacBook.
Anyway - does anyone know what they are, or has anyone else had them before? Should I be worried about them? I've attached some pictures to help. Sorry about the lighting - but it's the only way they would show up on camera!
    Many thanks,
    number1golfer

  • Strange marks on screen

I have a 20 in flat screen that is about 3 years old. The other day I noticed strange lines/marks on the bottom of the screen. On a light page the marks are blue and on a dark screen the marks are red. The marks remind me of smears, like if you go to the store and the register tape is running out and it puts those funky marks on your receipt. It gets worse when I scroll up like it is smearing on the page. Very strange. I just hope this isn't going to be an expensive fix. Any help to my problem would be greatly appreciated.

I am having the same issue as well - I hope I'm still under the extended apple care..

  • Crop mark on image when exporting to PDF

When I export my INDD file to PDF, crop marks appear on one of the images (an EPS file) in the converted document. The crop marks do not appear in the INDD file, nor are they part of the original EPS file. Any idea what's happening and how to get rid of it?

Screen shots would help here, but the first thing I would try is replace the EPS file with a native file format, either .al for vector or .psd for raster, or PDF for mixed content.

  • Strange, red, pixelated images

    Hi,
I recently purchased Lightroom 5 and I've been really enjoying it so far.
One issue I've found however is that occasionally Lightroom creates a weird, red pixelated effect on edited images in library module.  I've posted a develop view, and library (loupe) view example below.  It tends to occur on under exposed images that I've used noise reduction on.  Sometimes, this persists in develop module too.
    Develop module: http://i.imgur.com/G7hROKv.jpg
    Library module: http://i.imgur.com/nSmp72T.png
Any ideas about what is causing this or how to fix it?
    FYI, it exports fine.
    Thanks!

  • Strange behavior printing  image

I'm printing an jpg of a piece of sculpture, and if I look at the image in Photoshop all of the highlights are completely blown out. However, when I place the image into InDesign, the highlights have detail, and the image becomes much too dark overall (actually it matches the jpg's icon view in the Finder). And when I print the file, the image has the same dark tones as the InDesign preview (doesn't matter whether I use typical or high quality display).
But if I go into Photoshop and adjust the curves just slightly, the InDesign screen and printed image look just like the original blown-out Photoshop view.
There aren't any adjustment layers in the image.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you
    (InDesign 7.0.2, os x 10.6.7)
    Chris

Yeah, that might be important. Do you still have the original unadulterated version of that file? Does Bridge say it has an embedded profile?
    Chris Vogel25 wrote:
I checked the separation preview, and for the orginal super-contrast jpg, I'm seeing values in the 30% range for all process colors.
That's a sort of medium gray color. Are you looking at the highlights, midtones, or what? The numbers you see in the panel are reflective of the pixel under the cursor position.
It still seems strange to see the huge shift between the original jpg and InDesign preview, no matter was the interpolation, downsampling, profile mismatch was.
If you are dealing with an image that was captured in a wide-gamut space such as ProPhoto and that has no emebedded profile, there's a pretty good chance that the color would darken if ID or shift quite a bit when you bring it into an ID doc whose working space is something more normal like Adobe RGB or sRGB. Even an embedded profile would probably see a shift if the colormanagement policy is set to do anything other than preserve the embedded profile on mismatch. Do you see a big color shift when switching from regular view to overprint preview (which happens when you turn on separations)? A lot of the colors you can capture in wide-gamut color spaces fall outside the gamuts of printing devices.

  • Getting blue question mark for images in Safari

    Hi guys
I have MBP 15", early 2011, 250 GB SSD, 16 GB RAM, 10.10 Yosemite OSx and I am facing problem recently is that some images in Safari 8 browser won't open and instead blue question mark will arise . I have friend of mine using ipad2 and I asked her about this issue but the images opened with her smoothly. any suggestion. Thanks

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.
