Strange Menu Content and Display Graphic

I have a MacBook 13" (newer version) running OS-X 10.5.7. There are two users on the device. Whenever I log in, I get a black box around the desktop icon that happens to be selected. I also have an issue with the menu pulldowns. With the apple menu, I get two "Shut Down", "Restart, and "Log Out", and in the Finder menu, I get two "Empty Trash" and two "Secure Empty Trash". Not sure how this happened, but the other user does not see this on her account.

It's actually an audiovisual indicator for the vision-impaired. You should also hear (if your speakers are on) the menu items spoken aloud as you mouse over them. For some reason it gets turned on accidentally a lot more than you'd think. (The keyboard shortcut is cmd-fn-F5.)

Hello,
I recently upgraded my MacBook Pro to Lion a few months back. About 3 weeks ago, on one of the three user acccounts, the menu bar and dashboard got messed up. See images below. I was looking to find a solution, but could not find any. As I mentioned only one user account has been affected.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Problem with "PL/SQL Dynamic Content" and displaying rows

hi,
im new to APEX, and pl/sql [but not web dev or sql].
ive found the bit in APEX that lets you add data from your DB using the 'CREATE' > 'PL/SQL Dynamic Content'.
maybe there's a better option for people who dont know pl/sql? i dont know?
however, i think i can getting working with a little bit of help but im stumbling around in the dark a bit here.
ok so this is the pl/sql ive come up with to show three example values on page 23 of my aplplication:

The easiest (and best) way to "display rows" is using a report. Dynamic PL/SQL regions are more complex and are required much less frequently.

Create URL for image content and display in new window

When i give the link of external site like http://www.google.com, it works fine. It does not work when i give as www.google.com.

Hi Shanti,
The URLs that are external to the server, you should always have http://, your image URL is has http:// prefix? Other wise system will always look for the same inside the current BSP application. For Example your BSP application is ZBSP and if you are accessing www.google.com the URL in the browser will be
*******/bsp/ZBSP/www.google.com which will not be existing, hence causing the problem.
If not try adding http:// to the URL by concatenation and try.

Command Line/Console Mode Menu's and ASCII-Graphics

Pardon me if this has been asked. I have used the search function but have been unable to find useful information.
I am developing a series of programs to parse servers logs and compute certain statistics. There will also be a real-time monitor of active connections. This would be an extrodinarily simple task with swing and awt, but i am limited to the console mode only. In my quest for neatness (i do not want a continious screen scroll of active connets/disconnects with System.out), i am looking for a way to create simple ASCII-like graphics, not much unlike the TSR's from the old DOS days.
Obviously, System.out.println() does not give me the power i need. I would like to be able to print text/characters at a certain x,y coordinate. Is it even possible with Java? Where can i look for tutorials or get more information?

There is no standard package in Java for console graphics but a number of third party packages exist. For example the ncurses library has been ported to Java, do a web search on "java curses." IIRC it's open source but I've never used it..

Two possible way come to mind.
1. ADF DI (desktop integration): sorry, don't know enough about it to give a how to :-(
2. POI (http://poi.apache.org/) : open source project to read and write excel file with java. Using POI you can open the .xsl file, read it's contents and display it as af:table. For this you need to read the xsl into a data structure (this can be a temporary db table or a list of POJOs) and build a data control out of it. This you can drop on a page as table.

How do I stop the notification pop-up that 'Only secure content is displayed' that comes up nearly every time when I move to a new web page?

This notification pop-up appears almost every time I navigate to a new page which is really annoying when I am trying to study my university subjects online.

Firefox used to have a warning somewhat like that, but now a mix of secure and insecure content is indicated by a "globe" icon instead of a padlock icon next to the URL. The insecure content is not actually blocked.

It is possible you have an extension that blocks insecure content and displays that message? You could check the following tab, and use the Options button to see whether you can change the behavior:

Parsing large xml file and display using swing

Hi all,
I want to read a large xml file and display graphically in swing as a tree structure.
I implemented it and works fine for files of 5MB size after increasing the jvm heap size (-Xmx). If the file size is larger than 5MB it throws out of memory error. I'm creating a custom datastructure from the xml and I'm using sax parsing.
After displaying the datastructure, the user could do some operation on this, like search etc.
Can any of you suggest a method, to support larger files ? What I'm looking for is create the datastructure in file system, rather than in memory.
Any other tips for memory management would be greatly appreciated

Background displaying between main content and footer

Hi guys, I have a bit of a strange one to ask, with a discrepancy between what I am seeing on my website (online), compared to viewing my pages in Dreamweaver. OK, here goes.. online, the footer shows up fine, being directly underneath the main content (with nothing displaying between the footer and the main content) - however when I look at the same pages in Dreamweaver (CC), it shows a very large amount of the purplish background situated directly between the main content and the footer, and taking up an area around 4 times the height of the main content of the page (which basically makes the page 4 times bigger than it needs to be, in Dreamweaver). I hope that description makes sense - so basically (as I scroll down the page in Dreamweaver), firstly I have the main content (taking up 20% of the total height of the page), then below that, the mystical blank area of background color (taking up maybe around 79% of the total height), and then below that, right at the bottom, the footer (say, 1% of the total height). Yet when I view the web pages online, the footer is sitting snugly below the main content, exactly where it is meant to be - which I guess is the important thing, but I am worried that Google will see the issue as some kind of page error, so I would prefer to fix it if I can. Here is a typical page where the issue exists - http://www.mindtraining.net/dreamweaver/motivational-info/index.php I have a feeling it might have something to do with the vertical blue strip I have on the right hand side of each page, as the only page where the issue doesn't exist is the homepage at http://www.mindtraining.net/dreamweaver - which doesn't have the blue strip. Google robots don't see CSS or JavaScript. They index sites based on your HTML content.
Unfortunately, you do have a significant number of code validation errors which need attention to avoid x-browser rendering problems.

Do not use spaces in folder & file names. On the web it creates problems b/c spaces are converted to %20. Use underscores or hyphens but no spaces or special characters.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

How can I get the cursor's position in a opened file and display a menu?

Hello,
I want to make a program by which I will be able to display a panel/pops up menu at the corsor's current position, (In any text/doc file or in the desktop, we can display a menu by right click of the mouse.) Now I want my program to do the same task.
More clearly-
1. First I would save some words or sentences in a file(aa.txt).
2. Then I would open another text file/ a word/ excel/ or any other editor( bb.txt / cc.doc / dd.xls / ee.html ).
3. While editing or writing something in the opened file, if I click the right mouse button/ press a key (ctrl+space), a menu will appear containing the sentences I saved in the file(aa.txt) previously.
My program will tell me the cursor's position in bb.txt / cc.doc / dd.xls / ee.html that i opened. And display a menu. my problem is not reading / writing in a file.
My problem is how can I get the cursor's position in a opened file display a menu at that position by a mouse/key action*.
Would you please help me on this regard.

Upload unicode file and display content in a textarea

I am trying to do the following;
1. upload a unicode file (file with some non-english characters)
2. after uploading, read the uploaded file and show the content in a textarea in a jsp page.
I use struts in my project. I use class org.apache.struts.upload.FormFile for uploading the file. The upload works fine. I do the upload with help of FormFile's getInputStream method. When i read and display the content in the textarea, the content is displayed junk. But i tried to open the uploaded file, its fine. I mean it is just as my source file. Please help me out for reading the uploaded unicode and displayed in a textarea.

Reading Contents of File and displaying output

I'm trying to read the contents of a file, then loop through the contents, perform some formatting, and display the output. Should I read the file into an array? What is the best approach? Thanks in advance.

Depends. Is it a text file? Can you format each line independent of others? If so, you can just read one line at a time (BufferedReader) and pass it to wherever the display is. If you need to work on the file as a whole, then you need read it all at once.

Check the location setting for the iTunes Store is correct.
You might also try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router.
If you are still having problems try a restore.

How to Generate and Display SVG Graphics in ABAP

Hi everybody,
I tried to complete the Tutorial "How to Generate and Display SVG Graphics in ABAP, Part 1" by Siarhei Ulasenka (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/ad83a990-0201-0010-d680-a189f8bc20fa).
Unfortunately when I tried the example to display an SVG Drawing in an ABAP Report I get the error message "Es ist ein Laufzeitfehler aufgetreten, ungültiges Zeichen" (english should be something like "Runtime Error, unkown character"). But it works when I open the svgfile in a new IE Window (parameter in_place from cl_gui_html_viewer->show_url). Also when I open a svg file from the local disc it works fine.

Hello Alex,
The Corel SVG viewer has problems loading and displaying the examples (see the list of limitations at their site). Try to use the Adobe viewer instead.
