Strange micro stuttering in games with new keyboard

I recently upgraded my keyboard to one with mechanical switches and a much higher polling rate at 1000 Hz /1 ms.
After switching over to this keyboard, I'm getting strange fps microstutters in games. Not sure how to diagnose and fix this issue.
I've done some simple A/B tests with the same game and my old Logitech K120 USB membrane keyboard and the new keyboard also changing USB 2.0 ports even trying on 3.0 and PS/2 via a USB to PS/2 adapter, although the keyboard wont work via PS/2 (PS/2 hook is enabled via mkinitcpio and a regular PS/2 keyboard works).
With the old keyboard everything is buttery smooth with a high frame rate, the new keyboard causes strange stuttering in almost all games, although I have the same frame rates.
The new keyboard is a CM Storm Quickfire TK, which I'm assuming is putting out a hardware based 1000hz polling rate over USB?
Would there be anyway to lower the polling rate of the keyboard to test if that is the cause of the issue? Can only seem to find info on changing mouse polling rate.
The only other hardware connected to USB is a Razer Deathadder mouse running at 450 DPI & 500Hz, using the razercfg drivers from AUR.
I've tried lowering the polling rate of the mouse to 125Hz and also disabling razerd.service but the issue still stands.
Currently running Arch on a FX 6350 CPU, GA-970-DS3 Gigabyte board and a Nvidia GT 660.
Any suggestions?

Since no one else has any idea, just a shot in the dark from me: you could try the linux-ck kernel from the AUR and see if it helps… It hugely increased the framerate of Serious Sam 3 for me, and also removed some stuttering in Bit.Trip Runner 2. However I have no idea what polling rate my keyboard has; most probably it’s just the usual rate because it’s not a gaming keyboard.

  • Zen Micro Photo not working with new XP SP2 install

Okay so my Zen Micro Photo stopped being recognised on my computer about ten months ago when I upgraded to WMP (for BBC iPlayer - it's compulsory to have it). Anyway I li'ved with this and have now got thoroughly sick of the same songs and nothing new so I have done a fresh install (on a brand new hard dri've) of Windows XP SP2 WMP9 with the sole intention of using this install/hard dri've?for the player. I used the original installation disk and it prompted me to upgrade to WMP0 as I installed everything. There were no errors during the install and I rebooted when prompted to.
When I attach the player it is recognised by the machine (task bar icon and correctly labelled in System > Hardware > Device Manager which reports it to be?working okay) but the Creative media software says "player not attached" when it is. It is not visible on My Computer as a dri've so I STILL have no access to the player. Player screen reports "docked" with a logo and is flashes a charging icon. Driver v5.2.0.0. The player plays fine but hasn't had new music on in almost a year
There is nothing else on the XP install (IE6 and everything - argh!) I did the registry permission tweak thing mentioned?here:?http://support.creative.com/kb/showa....aspx?sid=9287?but it didn't do anything.
    Any help greatfully received!

  • Lenovo N500 keyboard/ numbers instead of letters/with new keyboard installed/Resolved!!

I thought I would share my recent adventure with a 3000 N500 I have. The laptop was special ordered with Xp Pro on it. I uninstalled and installed Ubuntu, worked great. At some point my wife spilled some soda onto the page up and down keys, resutling in those keys not working. Recently I purchased her another latop and decided to reinstall Windows Xp Pro on the N500 for use with some camera software I have.
I decided to go ahead and order another keyboard from Amazon, for 21 bucks. I wiped the drive and used an OEM Xp Pro to reinstall windows. I was having some issues with sound and modem drivers and decided to go ahead and install SP3 on it to help out with the high def install of drivers. That worked great, but when I recieved the new keyboard Tuesday and install it, I noticed that some dual number letter keys were inputting numbers. I googled and was brought here where a number of posters stated several programs might be the cause. I searched and these programs WERE'NT installed on this, due to a clean install of OEM windows. This took me back to suare one, why. I'm very proficiant in PC's having built many custom machines and assisted others in repair. I decided to test the keyboard by using an flash drive with Linux on it. The keyboard worked like a champ, so that narrowed the issue to windows pr software inside it.
Booting back to windows I started thinking that possibly an update inside SP3. I removed SP3 and rebooted and the keyboard worked great, no errors. Sooo at this point, I installed SP2 to get more up to date on the system. Keyboard still works great at this point, but now the modem and the audio are complaining about driver packs. That was resoved with the install of the high def pack from Microsoft without installing SP3.
I'm posting this to let everyone know, there may be a possibility of an update in SP3 that may be causing keyboard errors. I haven't taken the time to narrow which update, since mine is now working fine, but be aware this conflict may exist.  This SP3 issue may be something that Lenovo needs to explore to head off issues as SP3 is forced onto users to get the high def update for audio.
The short story is, if you removed IDvault or GuardID and are still have issues, you might try removing SP3 thru add/remove programs. Reboot and see if the key board starts to funtion properly.
    >>BE AWARE!!<< removing SP3 may remove needed drivers causing devices to stop working. So good luck, hope this helps others.

I just did a clean install of WinXP SP2 on a 3000 N100 from the original restore CD. Everything appeared fine after installing SP3.
I went on to install several system drivers and support applications.
Then as soon as I installed the Lenovo Hotkey driver, I noticed some of the letter keys return digits , e.g. "R" > "6".
I tried uninstalling it using add/remove programs, but that didn't help.
An external USB keyboard works OK.
How can I back out of this problem?

    Hi
Why do you think that the motherboard is ok?
Maybe its a keyboard controller issue
Did you check if the cable was connected properly?
In my opinion if you are 100% sure that the keyboard is ok then the issue must be related to the motherboard because there is no other part which is placed between the keyboard and mobo.

  • F12 and Dreamweaver with new keyboard

    Greetings and salutations.
Just got the new Apple keyboard (which I really like, by the way) and, besides the F3 F4 bug (which I have) my problem is that everytime I go to hit opt+f12 in Dreamweaver to preview a site in Safari (I have tried Fn+f12) I get an audio preference pane. How can I get this thing in Dreamweaver to recognize "preview in browser." You can't change the preview keyboard shortcut in Dreamweaver itself (I have tried).
    Thanks
    Mike

    Hi,
Same here. Really wicked things happen with this keyboard. When I've opened Dreamweaver (v.8) – which shares the same keyboard shortcut with Finder - the sound volume control went crazy, it acted like someone hitting the increase volume key forever! I've tried disconnect the keyboard, then it stops, after connecting it again same things happen - sound control goes nuts. I have to restart, and just after restart for no reason the dvd tray opens...
I would also would like to now how to fix this. I've got the latest keyboard driver but it doesn't help at all.

Hi, i need to put a new keyboard into my laptop because some of the keys on my current one arent working. I know how to get the laptop open and replace keyboard, but what i am not sure about is if i will be able to use new keybaord straight away or if it will need some sort of installing once laptop on? ..... because my prob at moment is that i cannot get onto the laptop as need to insert my password at turn on, but two of the letters i need arent working!!
so in short, can i put in new keyboard and it work straight away so that i cen enter password and back onto laptop.
    thanks for any help Jen

While I cannot answer your question from personal experience, I suspect the answer to your question is that there is no need for any set up.
However, you should be able to attach any USB keyboard (no setup needed) and use IT to log on to your computer.
    Good luck!

  • Keyboard settings are lost with new keyboard

My apple wireless broke and I wanted a bigger keyboard so I replaced the wireless with a standard keyboard that you plug in. HOWEVER:
All my shortcuts are mismatched. Its as if the computer is thinking I am still using a wireless keyboard. How do I reset it to use the new BIGGER keyboard?
The most important thing I need to do is adjusting the brightness contrast with the shortcuts. How do I fix this? I have tried changing the shortcuts on the display settings and its not working!!!
    PLEASE HELP!

I just purchased a new wired keyboard for imac and brightness and volume control keys not working . i have tried adjusting keyboard settings. I have software version 10.5.8. Do I need to upgrade software. Thank you for any help.

Do you have "Automatically Adjust Brightness" check box ticked in System Preferences > Displays > Display ? If so, you can't manually adjust brightness.

  • Problem working midi with new keyboard

I am using a Mac G5 Power PC 10.4.1 operating system. I recently had the Yamaha P200 keyboard and I now have the Yamaha YDP140. I use the Uno 2.0 midi interface. I know that the midi cables are set up correctly because there is no clicking sound which you usually occurs if they set up improperly and also the actual interface has the green blinking light and the green fading in and out light. When I play notes the flashing green light lights up in rhythm to the notes I am playing so I know that midi is being sent. In the applications under midi utility I have the keyboard set up as Yamaha YDP2006 because there is no model for the YDP140. I don't think it makes a difference but the P200 model is listed under Yamaha as one of the models to choose from. YDP2006 is the only model listed that is even close to the YDP140. IWhen I test the midi in the midi utility by clicking on the keyboard icon no sound plays so I know it is not registering. Midi is not registering through Loci Pro 7 or garage band and everything was working just fine with my P200 keyboard so this is obviously a confirguration issue. Please help! Thank you.

Oh, I see... because the right-side Shift Key and the small Up Arrow key are next to each other on the compact keyboard. I was wondering how someone could hit those two keys together by mistake, but I was looking at my full-size keyboard.
I tried a few things, like assigning Shift-UpArrow to something harmless in System Preferences Keyboard pane +Keyboard Shortcuts+ tab, but that did not change the Shift + arrow key functionality. Note: The Shift key + arrow key is actually doing a select in the direction of the arrow.
If she types a lot, she may want to get a wired Apple keyboard with numeric keypad. She can buy it separately, or it may even be possible to do an exchange of the current wireless keyboard with the full-size wired keyboard; the purchase was recent and this problem unexpected. You can contact Apple to see if that is possible, given her situation and issue with the design of the keyboard plus that particular pre-assigned of keyboard shortcut. She can also use a third-party USB keyboard, if she knows of one that is comfortable. On a regular-size keyboard, even Apple's, the arrow keys are spaced apart from the Shift key, so there is no way to hit both at the same time with one finger.
I'll try some other things, to see if there is a way to disable that default keyboard shortcut.

  • Big lagging when i open a flash game with new firefox 8.0 version

Since i updated my Firefox to 8.0, i am experiencing big lagging when i open a flash game; it takes longer than usual and when i finally get to play the game, within 3-4 minutes it shows error in the flash application and i have to reload my page again. Before this there was no problem. Please advise.

The answer did not resolve my issue. As I said, I am using version8.0.1 and getting the message (''''Some important features may not work in this version of your browser, so you have been redirected to the Basic HTML version. Upgrade to a modern browser, such as Google Chrome. Try standard version anyway'''').
In any case, I re-installed the latest version with no change in the usability or appearance of Gmail. Any other suggestions

  • Strange thing with new imac's @ portugal

    Hi,
I bought the new imac in Portugal, where it does not exist official representation of apple, only one bad
    deliverer, interlog.
These gentlemen are selling the new imacs with the old keyboard with the same price. In the page store.apple.com, portuguese version they inform that the new is keyboard is accessory, very strange.
Is there any place where I can officially complain next to apple?

New imac, 20''. But that's not the point, the issue is they are selling the new imacs with the old keyboard and that could be "illegal". They give to you the box with the imac without the new keyboard inside and put on top the old keyboard, just like that.
I think that one apple product sell in us must be exactly the same around the world, am I right?

  • Startup keys with new Apple Keyboard and MacBook Pro

Upon powering up my Rev. A MBP, I hold down the OPTION key on the new Apple Keyboard to select my startup disk. Strangely, the startup went straight into the default startup disk that I have chosen previously. I didn't get to selection stage.
I tried with the old/white Apple Keyboard and my MBP keyboard and startup disk selector is A-Okay.
I hooked up the new keyboard to my new Mac mini and did the same thing and no problem.
Haven't tried with the rest of the startup keys like C or X yet with the MBP. Wonder is this a software bug between the MBP and keyboard.
    Anyone with similar experience?

Actually, startup keys sequences do work with the Apple Wireless Keyboard (the old white one). I know because I have been using it that way with my Macs, PPC and Intel ones.
I tried Command-V, Command-S, Option, T, C and Shift on the new keyboard with my Rev. A MBP and it goes go straight into the Apple logo.
Swapped back to the old Apple Keyboard with my MBP and tried the keys above and no problems whatever so.
Hooked up the new Apple Keyboard to my new Mac mini and did the same keys without problems.
So, my conclusion is there something between the new keyboard and Rev. A MBP. Maybe someone with similar setup should try wha I did and see if they face the same issues.

  • Use non-HP keyboard with new Envy 23?

My new Envy 23 is darn nice, but I knew before ordering that I probably wouldn't be happy with the keyboard (it feels junky and noisy).  I want a wireless, backlit, quiet keyboard.
Is there any reason I cannot purchase the bluetooth keyboard of my choice?  Will I need to get a bluetooth USB dongle, or will a non-HP keyboard communicate well with the Envy's onboard bluetooth?
While I'm asking questions, I have identfied the Logitech K800 keyboard as one that might fit my needs.  Anyone ever use it with an HP desktop system?

Is it safe to presume that when I do so, that my HP-supplied wireless mouse will continue to operate normally?
I, too, thought that it was strange that there is no mention of USB ports.  However, I still don't see any in the specs.
There should be no reason that the wireless mouse won't work with a Bluetooth keyboard.

If you have records that show that you've taken your MacBook Pro in for a year to fix the machine, I would escalate the problem to Apple Customer Relations - unfortunately I don't have a number for Spain.
It would only seem logical to me that if you've been trying to have the machine repaired during the time that the 'recall' was in effect that you should be eligible for a new logic board. But only customer relations will be able to make that call.
Good luck - take the issue as high up the food chain as you can and see what happens.
