Strange Mousing Problems

My iBook is normally used in the following manner: a LaCie External HD, Kensington Mouse & Apple Keyboard connected through my Kensington Notebook Extension Dock with Stand. Well yesterday I removed my peripherals and the dock stand so I could use my iBook in the other room.
Later when I placed my iBook back into the stand the mouse stopped double clicking. I can't double click on anything and this includes single words to edit them.
And suddenly my DVD/CD drive wont reboot with DiskWarrior in it. I can see DiskWarrior on my desk top but I can't get the darn computer to start with DiskWarrior.
So now I can't do any disk repair. Although I do have Onyx so I used it to optimize and rebuild my HD.
I tried resetting the PMU and that didn't work. I also replaced my mouse with a different one and that didn't change things. My keyboard appears to be working fine.
I have recently done a complete wipe of my HD, August 12, 2006, and a clean install of Tiger and then the installed my other software. The DVD/CD drive worked just fine during my reinstall and afterwards when I defragged and then optimized my HD.

This is the report I received after running DiskWarrior:
Disk: "The HD"
Repaired the Total File Count of the Volume Information
Repaired the Available Disk Space of the Volume Information
Location: "Desktop"
File: "1f5_data"
Detected Overlapping Contents, this file will be relocated AFTER replacing the directory

File: "cf#hYlvB"
Detected Overlapping Contents, this file will be relocated AFTER replacing the directory
Location: "The HD/Users/RKROSSI/Library/Preferences/"
Explanations:
Overlapping Contents: Overlapping files are files that occupy portions of the disk already occupied by another file. These files will be relocated after replacing the directory. You must inspect these files to determine which of them had been overwritten and damaged. Be aware that opening damaged files can cause the computer to crash.
Volume Information: Every disk has information that describes its contents. Repairs prevent problems such as wasted disk space and applications not functioning properly.
Would these overlapping problems be caused by blessing a HD?
After running DiskWarrior the mousing problems still exist.
I tried taking the mouse and keyboard off the Kensington Dock Stand and plugging it directly into the computer but the problem still exists. I can right click without problems though.
I wonder if this could be something with the trackpad preferences? I did change them when I removed the devices to use the iBook. Is there some way to discard those preferences?

  • Having a strange mouse problem

This started last night. When I move my mouse, it gets jerky and keeps jumping backwards...I may have it at the left edge and move it away and it moves an inch or two and then jumps back to where it was repeatedly. At first I thought it was a Magic Mouse issue but I've plugged in my wired Apple mouse and it's doing the same thing. I need to do some work in Adobe Illustrator and I need a steady mouse for that. I've not installed anything in the past two days. I've rebooted and the situation has not changed.
Any ideas on what would cause my mice to do this?

The OSX really needs to improve mouse, tracking and acceleration with external mouse..
The inbuilt trackpad on MBP are very very good no complaints.. but with external mouse theres lots of problems sadly.

  • Mouse problems with v10.7 Lion and VMWare Fusion 3.1.3; reboot of Lion temporarily fixes it

Since installing Lion, my VMWare Fusion 3.1.3 Windows 7 and XP virtual machines have very strange mouse problems.  I thought it might have been caused by 3rd party software on my iMac (Mouse Zoom), because it seemed to work after removing the software, but I have now discovered that it is actually the reboot of OS X v10.7 (and now v10.7.1) that temporarity removes the problem.  However, after a while the problem comes back, requiring another reboot of Lion.
The problem is strange behavior of mouse button clicks inside the virtual machine, e.g. unable to double click on a folder or program in Windows because it jumps back to the higher folder tree, as if I had hit the ESC key.  In addition to my USB and BlueTooth mice, the Mac touchpad also has the problem.  I have confirmed that the problem is probably in how VMWare maps the iMac human interface devices (HIDs) to the virtual mouse inside the VM, because I am able to get correct mouse function by attaching one of my mice directly to the Virtual Machine (there is an edit to the VMX file that enables HID devices).
I have deleted and reinstalled VMWare Fusion 3.1.3 per suggestions on the VMWare support site and/or various forums, but that did not help.

According to: http://roaringapps.com/app:61 Version 3.1.3 has issues with Lion.  There is a 2011 beta that works better.

My macbook pro is running very slow with some strange mouse and window movements. The trackpad is very unresponsive and when responding the cursor moves on its own and/or very erratically. When on safari the window suddenly zooms in or highlights words and looks them up via dictionary. I currently have a wireless mouse connected and I am still having the same problems.
I fee like I may have a virus or my laptop is perhaps being accessed remotely. All of the sharing options are unchecked.
    HELP PLEASE
    Very worried!!

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).
    4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).

  • My PS/2 mouse problem :(

for some time now i boot up the computer and every other time the mouse works, i now use a usb keyboard and before when i had a ps2 keyboard it was that that wouldnt work, sometimes the mouse wouldnt work and when i restarted with pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete twice and tabbed to the shutdown in the box that came up when it was time for windows to let me log in my keyboard wouldnt work and i had to use the mouse to restart, eventually the mouse and keyboard would work together after a few restarts using this method.
well now i have a usb keyboard and it works all the time so the mouse now works every other boot or reboot, i am guessing maybe i should of gotten a usb mouse along with the keyboard but the keyboards that came with mice together were kind of ugly and small so i got the Gigaware usb keyboard, plus four of the five usb slots in the back of my computer are currently being used(one for this keyboard, one for my gigaware headphones, one for my webcam, and one for my printer) the only one empty is the one connected to the D-link Bracket thing that has the four lights that light up a certain pattern to tell you if any problems, i had my ipod shuffle hooked up to it once recently and when i opened or restarted my computer nothing would load up, really not sure why so i dont leave the ipod shuffle connected to my computer, just that time to test it because i just got it not too long ago, been trying to resolve my computer issues so no time to do anything with it lol
so back to the main issue....my mouse works but every time i restart it doesnt or if i start up my computer it doesnt work and then when i restart it then it works. I have searched for the passed month with google looking for similar issues with this mouse problem and i have seen a few people with the same problem but no solution, i personally will be getting in more detail than any of these people have been in those forums i have visited.
so i have tried a few different things to try and correct this problem and none have worked so far. I have looked in the BIOS for any setting related to the mouse and have found nothing, i have uninstalled the mouse in Device Manager and restarted my computer still with the mouse being detected and sometimes not until reboot
the last thing i did was most interesting to me, i had my computer shut down and thought to try and see what happens if i have no mouse physically installed so i unplugged it and turned on my computer and when the screen came up for me to log into windows there was the pointer in the middle of the screen just the same as the times my mouse would be frozen and i need to restart to make it work.
now further into my observatory skills hehe i happened to eventually get really curious at the boot up screen after the detecting of my drives and before the microsoft windows logo and i got more near to what i think is causing this mouse issue yet i dont know how to correct it, i pressed Pause/Break to read what was there because it was to fast to read in the first place and i finally notice it is PCI listing devices and there is a list of devices and IRQs that each one is using, before all that though i noticed in my readings that the mouse IRQ was 12 always and this part of the screen that i saw really confused me was that after many tests i noticed that each time the mouse didnt work i had seen when i froze the screen to read that IRQ 12 was being used by SMBus Cntrlr and also Multimedia device and when i restarted then those two were using IRQ 11 and my mouse worked
this was really strange and i do believe that this is part of the source of my mouse not working, i am stuck and have been for some time now on this and i dont know what i need to do from here, i was also thinking maybe i need a new power supply because sometimes when i first start up my computer i can tell my processor fan struggles to spin a little even after it is clean and i do clean out dust on a regular basis, but i dont know about the power supply thing, its just a guess because i think it may be pushing out as much juice as it can to power up all four of my usb connections, my processor, my fan, my video card, and my mouse which has that frozen in the middle of the screen problem when i boot up my computer before i can log into my windows account
also i am more moving away from my power supply hypothesis because i can leave my computer open for a long period of time and my mouse never freezes up, i really need some help with this, thank you for the time spent in reading all this and any help i may be offered to correcting this issue, i have a couple more questions but they are not related to this issue so i will submit this one and send my other questions in a different message, thank you again

ok first of all i would like to thank all those who have read and given input and helped me with everything, thank you all so much
second is the story i have left out from the start of my blue screen of death problem and what it may have to do with the RAM.......
two days ago i started to put together my motherboard in my new case and new RAM and power supply, first i started with the motherboard transfer, i unscrewed it all fine and put inside the new case, but before i had it laying on my bed while i prepared the screws inside the new case, i put in my cd drive and hard drive, then i installed the power supply and connected everything, when it got to the RAM i took out the one 512 and the 256 and left the other 512 as it was and if you know about the K7N2-L motherboard then you know that two RAM slots are side by side and one is a little further off, well the one that was a little further off had the 512 so i put the 2x1Gb Patriots in the slots that were together
then i started installing more of the power connectors from the power supply and i noticed on my bed one little piece and had no idea where it came from, i started looking and thinking where have i seen a similar piece before and then saw that it was a RAM clip  and how it came of the slot eludes me even to this moment, i didnt think it a big deal so i took the 512 out of the slot it was in and put the 1gb in its place and the 512 in the middle of the two 1gb chips, so one 1gb and the 512 were in the slots side by side and the other 1gb chip was in the slot further away from the other two and that was the one with the broken clip, yet it ran through the memory tests and even showed up in Sandra but i am thinking now that maybe it is the reason why i have gotten 26 blue screens of death since yesterday when i first started up my system
so now i removed the 512 and put in its place the 1gb from the broken clip slot and i started it all up and went in bios and see the timing are automatically set at 2.0-3-2-5 and so i also set the frequency voltage at 2.7V just as a test and so far since i have been typing this message i see no blue screen
the broken clip slot is broken at the clip but i had it in there and when the chips was installed i tugged a little to make sure it was being held in there and the fact the memory showed up on my system lets me know that it registered but i think that because they are two different types of RAM they may not have been compatible so i was getting the blue screens, the patriots are stock timed at 2.0-3-2-5 @ 2.7V and the Corsair is 2.5-3-3-8 @ 2.5V but then i think again it is because of the broken clip slot now because before when my system had the two 512 and the one 256 chips and no broken slot clips and i had the voltage set at 2.6 and also 2.7 with no BSOD issues............
so now here i am Single Channel Ram with timings of 2.0-3-2-5 at 2.7V and no blue screen so far but that extra 512 would have been nice but oh well i guess, maybe 750 mb more RAM than i had before is not so bad.......but i am power hungry just as are the rest of you when it comes to the computer system
i wish i had one more 1bg patriot chip to test my theory  but then again if it didnt work i will have an extra chip to look at which will make me go
well i guess that is it for now, it is just a time issue now to see how this 2gb works out for me, but i want 2.5 gb
my next project is new motherboard and new processor and new ddr2 or ddr3 RAM but by the time i need that upgrade ddr5 or 6 may be in use  i hope in that time the prices are good and for some reason AMD gets my attention more than intel, i dont know why
well ok i have been typing this for quite some time now and no blue screen so this is good news, i guess the question now is do you think the problem was due to the broken RAM slot clip or because the Corsair RAM was timed to run at 2.5-3-3-8 at 2.5V and the Patriots' are timed at 2.0-3-2-5 at 2.7V and together they are just not compatible?
    thanks again for everything

  • Strange shutdown problem

    Hi,
Last night, I had a strange shutdown problem on my iMac G5 (revB, 20", 2.0 Gig), with 1 Gig RAM, running 10.4.4 with all updates. I had had the computer on most of the day, using it off and on. I shut it down, and left the room. When I came back about an hour later, the fans were running (not rapidly, just at the normal speed they run when the computer is running), but the screen was blank, and the "sleep" light was not on. The computer wouldn't respond to any moving the mouse or to keyboard input. I finally shut it down by holding the power button until the fans shut down. Upon restart, everything was normal, and after using it for a few minutes, I was able to shut it down normally. Has anyone else seen this sort of behavior, and is it normal ? Or am I about to have more problems.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dave Fritzinger
    Honolulu, HI

    Hi Dave,
By the sound of it your computer has "hung" during the shutdown process, but at a point in the process where the system's temperature control mechanisms were still operating (otherwise the fans would be running flat out). My guess in this case is that it was probably actually a finder crash.
Various things can prevent proper shutdown. Often USB or FW devices are to blame. USB adsl modems , some scanners and hubs and the occasional printer driver seem to be common causes. Software can be responsible too, though - background virus or drive checkers are probably the most common, but far from the only possible causes ( I seem to remember "SpringCleaning" causing this problem when people moved to Tiger 10.4.2 for example) .
New software or hardware are therefore the first things to look for.
If you haven't installed anything completely new then one possibility may be that something you are using is not compatible with the latest OS update, and needs an upgrade to a driver. Its also possible that this is a "one off" glitch caused by a temporary problem , but if it happens again I'd be taking careful note of anything that you were using in the previous session.
You might also want to use the Console (in Utilities folder) to look at your system and crash logs.
    Cheers

  • Very Strange Focus problem

I've encountered a very strange focus problem that I hope someone can help me
with. In my frame, I have a toolbar and some JTextFields. When I press one of
the toolbar buttons, I do whatever and at the very end I use requestFocusInWindow()
to set the focus to one of the JTextFields. Now here's the strange part. If I don't
touch the keyboard or the mouse, I can see the caret in the JTextField as expected.
As soon as I move the mouse or touch any key, the focus changes to the next
toolbar button. Makes no sense to me. By the way, I'm running 1.4 on Windows NT.

Create a new class ToolbarButton extends JButton where you have the following method:
         * Identifies whether or not this component can receive the focus.
         * A disabled button, for example, would return false.
         * @return true if this component can receive the focus
        public boolean isFocusTraversable() {
           return false;
}This prevents the buttons from getting keyboard focus, this makes only sense for toolbar buttons.
    Cheers,

  • Very Strange Bluetooth Problem

    Hi There
My mac seems to have developed a very strange bluetooth problem. When i try to connect my mighty mouse, it 'connects' then a couple seconds later disconnects, then connects and disconnects etc. during the time that it is apparently connected, the LED on the bottom of the mouse keeps flashing in the way it does when it's searching for a connection, which tells me it ain't connected at all.
Thinking this was just a mighty mouse problem i try connect my iPhone, same problem. This time I do it with the bluetooth preferences open i notice that the status of the iPhone connection has gone funny (like it has not connected on top of the word connected in the status, one atop the other) this weirdness happens irrespective of what you connect, and only to the iPhone status, even if it's bluetooth is off.
This weird status thing has happened before, when i was messing about with bluetooth tethering on my iPhone. So, naturally, i assume the iPhone's buggered up the system somehow. I remove it from the list of paired things and try the mouse again, no luck. I try to re add the mouse, but the pairing process doesn't complete itself before the mouse drops signal again. I can't re-pair my iPhone either for the same reason.
    how can i fix this?
    Cheers, Joe

    Hey there,
Navigate to HD > Users > Your Account > Library > Preferences.
Locate, and move to the Trash, this file com.apple.Bluetooth.plist.
If still no luck, try zapping the PRAM to see if that helps. Instructions on how to do that can be found [HERE|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379].

  • MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR, Mouse problem & Video off problem solved!!!

I find the following information that I collected very interesting at the very least...
    Here goes...
The video off problem that I was having was directly linked to the mouse. Here, let me explain the video off problem. In the BIOS Have the Standby mode set to S3. The problem occurred when I started windows, then went into standby, then started back up, then restarted the computer, the monitor would act as if it were in sleep mode, or rather there was no signal being sent to the monitor. Well the odd way I fixed that is by plugging in a standard 2 button PS/2 mouse. Also this fixed the issue with the mouse sometimes not working in windows.
    Here is how I tested.
    Logitech MX700 Cordless Optical Mouse, PS/2 & USB= failed.
Logitech iFeel Optical Mouse, USB= failed.
Microsoft Cordless Ball Mouse, PS/2= failed.
Standard Artec (Cheapy brand) Ball Mouse (With no wheel), PS/2= All issues fixed, and passed.
When I said failed I do not mean they didn't work, I mean they sometimes didn't work and also caused the Video off problem after restarting the computer.
Obviously it isn't the ports (PS/2 or USB) that are the problem, it is more like the mouse itself, and the amount of buttons in particular. As you can see above the only mouse that works correctly is the one that only has 2 buttons, the rest has 3 or more buttons along with a Wheel. The MX700 has 8 buttons + wheel, WOW!
Anyways I figure out it was the mouse, and not the memory.
Obviously MSI needs to make a patch for this mouse problem.
I'm still having a hard time believing that the mouse caused the video not to work, but it is true! I spend well over 5 hours testing this crap. Every time with the mice with more then 3 buttons it messed up, and every time with the 2 button old fashion mouse it worked flawlessly!
MSI, get to work on a new BIOS to fix this mess!!!  :]

LOL, that isn't what I'm talking about.
There seems to be a problem with my motherboard accepting mice with more then 2 buttons. It works the first time, but if you restart the computer, the video goes off. If you have both installed, it still messed up.

  • Strange wifi problem on a brand-new MacBook Pro

Hey there, I'm new here. Desperation has got the better of me, and I hope I can get some advice.
So, last sunday I bought a brand new 13" MacBookPro with 2.8g i7 processor and 10.7.2 OS (I can't update to 10.7.4 because System Update tells me the download has been tampered with or corrupted after I waited 2 hours for it to finish, but I'm trying a direct download from the website). Here's the exact product: http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MacBook-MD314LL-13-3-Inch-VERSION/dp/B005CWIZ4O/ref= sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1340301247&sr=8-5&keywords=macbook+pro+13
Everything is all perfect except for a strange wifi problem. Note that the wifi does not turn-on or off, it doesn't disconnect after 'sleep', it doesn't get less speed, it doesn't constantly leave a preferred connection (once I chose my home wifi it always connects to it no problem). The wifi bar is always full. What is wrong is that the internet is kinda 'glitchy'. The best metaphor I can think of is that it's like a car that has to be pushed down the road before the engine can start. Please, bear with me because this is kinda hard to explain and I'm not good at tech lingos.
One of the symptoms is browsing can get really slow and inconsistent, almost as if the wifi gets turned off in the middle of browsing. For example: if I look something up on Google and then open 5 new tabs, probably only 2 or 3 of those tabs will eventually load while the other two will not get past the long 'http:.......google.....etc etc' address and will eventually show one of those 'error loading page because there's no Internet connection' notice. This happens a lot. Sometimes I have to refresh/retry loading a page a couple of times before it finally loads, then usually everything will get back to normal and I will be able to open multiple tabs with no problem, but in a couple of minutes I would try to open another site and the problem will start again.
So I tried to see how it does with downloading using iGetter. Fortunately I also have a Macbook (white-plastic casing one) and my brother has an old 2006 MacbookPro so I can compare. With those two older Apples iGetter starts receiving data in less than 8 seconds after I click Start, while my brand-new Macbook Pro can take up to 15-20 seconds, sometimes it doesn't even start at all and I have to re-click the start button. But once the download actually starts (on my new MacBook Pro), it downloads like normal, it doesn't stop and the speed is also as good as I can get. Strange huh? Hence, like a car that has to be pushed before the engine starts.
I also tried 'speed testing' from a website with all 3 laptops. On my old MacBook and my brother's MacBook pro, once I click 'begin test' it takes only a couple of seconds of 'ping' before the download/upload speed measurements start, but with my new MacBook Pro (just like with iGetter) it takes up to almost a minute before the measurements start, sometimes it won't start at all and I have to re-start the test.
Well, thanks for reading. And hope you can help me shed some light into this. Because it is really preventing me from really enjoying my new MacBook Pro. And if this is most likely a hardware problem, I'd better get back to the store and try to get it replace or something while it's only been 5 days. *cheers*

Hey guys.. Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, I bought the MacBook in Indonesia where there are no such thing as an AppleCare. The only option is to leave the Apple product to one of the 'Authorized Apple care centre' and have whoever do whatever to it without guarantee of success. As for returning it and getting a brand new one, I also don't know if there is such a deal here, but that's actually a good idea, will try to go to the store tomorrow. Although, I'm worried that the problem might be with OSX Lion or something and getting a new one won't help.
mark75090, I've tried resetting the router when I first noticed te problem, didn't work though. I've checked my new MacBook's wi-fi (option+click wifi bar) and it says 'PHY Mode: 802.11g', so does my MacBook and the old MacBook Pro. I don't know what those mean though, and I don't know whether or not my router is an N., can you tell me more please.. I have tried with the other two turned off, and only the new MacBook using the wi-fi but the problem persists. I have also tried connecting directly to the router, but as I described, the problem is too subtle for me to notice the difference.
Also, if I create a brand new Wi-Fi connection in network preferences and connect to my router through the new Wi-Fi profile, the problem seems to be gone for an hour or so, then it always comes back though. I have also just finally installed 10.7.4, but it doesn't help either.

  • Mouse Problems Since 10.6.8 Update

Since I applied the OS X 10.6.8 update to my MacBook, I have started to have very annoying mouse problems.  Sometimes the mouse gets stuck on a window or icon as if I am dragging it.  More often, the left mouse button stops doing anything and the right mouse button starts acting like the left mouse button.  At the same time, the mouse is often incapable of clicking on a highlighted button.  Safari often seems to be open when this happens.
I have tried two different wireless mice and, most recently, a basic corded mouse.  I have also tried both USB ports with the corded mouse.
Has anyone else seen this and figured out how to fix the problem?

Same problem here with a macbook pro.  I desactivate teleport to see if the problem is related.

  • Very Strange Internet Problems

I own a MacBook Pro 15.4 Inch that I purchased about a year and a half ago. I recently upgraded to Leopard and have all the latest updates. I am from the US, and when I am home my internet works fine. However, I am on travel to Seoul, South Korea right now and am having a very strange internet problem.
As far as I can tell, the URLs that I type in to my browser are, sparodially, not translated correctly into the webpages that they are supposed to represent. This problem is probably effective 75% of the time, and the rest of the time my internet works roughly correctly. For instance, when I enter http://www.google.com, instead of being taken to the Google homepage, I am taking to the homepage of Jammin Beats DJ Service, an obscure website about a company in northern Pennsylvania. The actual URL of this website is http://www.jamminbeats.com, but when my internet is malfunctioning, 'jamminbeats' is for all intensive purposes replaced by 'google' (that is, it applies not only to the main page, but to sub pages, so "http://www.google.com/weddings" takes you to "http://www.jamminbeats.com/weddings" and etc). For most other webpages, one of two things happens. Either I am taken to the correct page but it is displayed without any images or frames (just the html text and links), or I am taken to a blank page with the header "Under Construction", which I assume is the default for a page that doesn't exist. This is why it seems as though the URLs are simply being interpretted erroneously.
This problem occurs when connecting both to the wireless and the wired internet at my hotel, and it occurs on both Safari and Firefox, so it is not a connection-specific or browser-specific problem. It may be a problem with the hotel's internet, and as of yet I have not had a chance to test the computer at another location. However, a colleague using an IBM computer has had no problems, and I am currently on a Samsung machine in the business center of the hotel and it is working correctly as well. I have searched extensively online for a similar problem but have come up empty handed, and more than anything, I am confused about what might be causing this problem. The strangest thing is that a fraction of the time, the internet functions normally, but it is usually roughly 15 minutes out of every hour, and eventually I am inevitably taken back to Jammin Beats.
I am a computer science graduate but I still have no idea what would cause this problem. At first I thought it might be a hacker, but if it is, he or she has been at it consistently for 3 days now, and only seems to be targeting my computer. Any ideas or solutions would be greatly appreciated, as I have been forced to resort to the hotel's business center for checking email, doing work, etc. Thanks in advance.

I did consider that, as I was in Beijing last week and there are a number of censored sites. However, in Korea I have had problems with very basic sites like facebook, wall street journal, google, yahoo, Korean google, my hotel's webpage, etc. Further, I have successfully gotten all of these sites to load seemingly at random, and can access them without problems on other computers. The only disconnect seems to be between my MBP and the internet, not between Korean internet and the web. I have toyed around with the network settings, and although sometimes after switching from "Automatic" to a fixed connection I get some sites to work, it usually only lasts a short time and eventually the same sites stop working. I reset my cache regularly to make sure I'm not getting sent to cached sites, but this also doesn't help. Further, my Apple Mail, Skype and AIM accounts jump between being connected and disconnected randomly as well. Again, this is isolated to my own computer, which is why I'm so confused.

Strange email problem; it started only loading unread emails, but from 3 months ago. It is now loading new emails too, but no emails in the past month, read or unread. It's gmail, set up through the phone, I've restarted restored and updated firmware, deleted the account, anything I could think of, but it's just not accurately downloading the most recent emails.

The answer is very simple: You were not the original owner of the phone. Target sold you a phone that had been returned. You can verify the date of the original sale here: Apple - Support - Check Your Service and Support Coverage. I suspect you will find that the warranty expiration date is not one year from the date that you bought it.

  • Major mouse problems in Virtualbox 3.0.2

I'm running an Arch Linux VM running on VB version 3.0.2 running under an Arch Linux host (both x86_64 if that matters).  As you x86_64 guys know, one must use thotypous's package in the AUR for VB on x86_64.  Anyway, the VM boots up just fine and is fully functional, except that the mouse in the VM simply stops working after a while.  It seems to be stuck and invisible trapped in the lower right of the screen; my only option is to restart the VM.
Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I ended-up nuking my VM and hdd file, rebuilding it from scratch and am experiencing exactly the same issue w/ the mouse.  Everything is fine in my XP VM, it's just my Arch x86_64 VM that has this damn mouse problem!

  • Nightmare Mouse Problem

OK, this one is baffling me and has become a nightmare.
Since this past weekend I have had a mouse problem that I cannot resolve on my own and no matter what I've tried, nothing has resolved the issue.
When using the mouse, it is not responding to mouse clicks. Moving a window takes repeated tries and does not move to where I want it to go. Most times, trying to move a window minimizes it to the dock. Clicking on items takes multiple attempts to select them or highlight them. Highlighting text is near impossible to do accurately, as is relocating the cursor. Selecting items on the desktop is hit or miss and sometimes the items will launch without double-clicking them.
I also have a Wacom tablet and this device works perfectly, although I have dual displays and it only is mapped to one display.
    Things I've tried:
Since I am on a dual-bootable (2 drives/2 OS's) Mac and have dual user accounts on each drive, I've tried using each user account on each startup disk. The mouse behaves exactly the same way on all of them.
    Tried using a different mouse.
Removed the tablet from its powered USB port on the rear of the Mac and tried the mouse in that port. This improved the ability to select an item on the desktop but in doing so, the item launches with one click.
Checked System Preferences/mouse settings and they have not changed.
Verified and repaired permissions using the OS 10.4 installer CD.
Scoured the Net for info as to why no mouse is working but a Wacom Tablet would be in the same port.
The mouse was originally connected to the right side of my keyboard. Tried the left side port, as well as the powered USB port on the back of the Mac where the tablet was connected as mentioned above - and I also tried the other powered USB port.
I'm at a loss now as to what to do.
    Can somebody please help?
    THANKS
