Strange mozilla and safari issue

I have been having this issue lately where i click info on certain web pages instead of changing the current page it will open another tab. When i go to click the next tab it just closes? It happens quite often when i tried to ask this question it opened up two or three tabs and then they disappear when i click the tab. This also happens in safari which i never use? Also my trackpad single click keeps bringing up the scroll circle which never used to come up. does anyone know what is going on

It is hard to say. Any kind of burp or glitch could have caused it. The Pram reset usually helps as it did on yours. If you look at all the Pram controls you will notice some of the commands for the trackpad are there. Glad I could help. Have a good rest of holiday.

  • Strange MAIL and SAFARI issue

I've never encountered this before, but my iMac can't seem to "remember" that my specified default mail client is "Mail" and my default web browser is "Safari". Even after I set them up in the Preference window, when I relaunch "Mail" the default mail client selection reads: "No applications found." and the default browser that shows up is "Opera" (which I have loaded on, but I hardly use it!
I'm running an iMac G4 FP and Mac OSX 10.4.8
Anyone have any thoughts on how I can fix this?
    Thanks!

Sounds like your LaunchServices are all messed up. I believe that OnyX has a rebuild LaunchServices function. Did you try it? There are also cache files that can be removed:
    "/Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices-0140.csstore"
    "/Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices-014501.csstore"
plus your personal over-rides in this plist file:
    "/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.LaunchServices.plist"
If you remove the above files and restart you should be taken back to the default state of the system. If you aren't and you may need to rebuild the LaunchServices database from the command line:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20031215144430486
But if you have Onyx that should do the same thing.

  • System Preferences and Safari issues

Hi I have a very concerning issue with system preferences and a smaller issue with Safari (7.0).  When I open system preferences and navigate to the "internet accounts" page and try to remove an account or click the "Advanced" button, nothing happens.  I see a faint flicker of the system prefs window but nothing changes.  Another example is when I click on the "networks" page and try and open the "Advanced" window, nothing happens. I also can't sign out of iCloud or view my iCloud account information the buttons seem to do nothing.  I've already tried installing mavericks again, deleting appropriate plists, resetting PRAM/NVRAM, repairing the disk and repairing disk permissions to no avail and I really need to find a solution.  If this helps, the guest account does not have any issues described above.  The safari issue is minor but when Safari opens, there is a gray box around the page title in the top bar of safari no matter what webpage im on.  I have tried resetting safari, deleting caches and extensions but nothing works.  I really appreciate any help with these issues.
Here is an example of the Safari issue.

Do you have the installer DVD? If you do:
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the OS X Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.

  • .Mac and Safari issue (no other browser)

I am running Safari 3.1 on Mac OS X 10.5.2 and the issue I am having is Safari related, and is not the fault of .Mac. The problem does not exist in Firefox.
The problem is viewing synced .mac bookmarks. System Preferences is set to automatically synchronize my .mac bookmark data, but when I use Safari and log into www.mac.com, and click on the bookmark link on the top, I click "Open Bookmarks" and Safari redirects to the .mac homepage instead of showing my list of bookmarks. It has happened sometime after the 3.1 update, but I cannot say exactly when.
I have removed the Safari folder inside the User Library, and also the Preferences file, both to no effect.
But I have made a new user, logged into my account and Safari has worked properly.
Does anyone know what might be causing this problem, or what I can remove to fix it.

I am having a similar issue. Have you found a solution for this?

  • Youtube and Safari Issues on iPad/Apple devices.

For the last few days I have had a problem with all my apple devices. For some reason Youtube videos will not play, I keep getting the message "This video is currently unavailable" when I try to play any video. This only happens on Youtube through Safari, the app on my 3gs works fine but the app is not for iPad. Another problem that I get only on my iPad is that Safari is acting all weird. When I try to click on a link nothing happens and when I press the back button it goes back 2 or more pages instead of the previous page like its supposed to. Steps I've tried to resolve the problem:
    Force close the apps.
Force restart the iPad/All apple devices.
    Reset all settings.
    Restore iPad through iTunes.
None of the above steps have worked for me and I just don't know what to do. This only happens through wifi but I am certain their is nothing wrong with my wifi as my android devices and my laptop/desktop computer work fine when trying to view youtube videos. As I mentioned this is happening on all Apple devices which include:
    iPad 2
    iPhone 3gs
    iPhone 5
    iPod touch 4th gen.
The weird safari issue is only occurring on my iPad.
Any help resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

  • Dept of Worforce Website and Safari issues

I was using the website, most everything works, but I get this on hyperlinks:
    Error 404: SRVE0190E: File not found: /CSSWebHelp/CSS_Field_Level_Help/CSS_401K_MonthlyDistribution.htm>>cap=Field Level Help>>pan=1
    any ideas?

No, 404 errors happen all the time, usually with the redesign of a web site, pages that were previously there are taken out or given a new home and people might still have the old page bookmarked, or the site designers didn't update the site navigation to redirect requests for the old page to the new one. It's definitely not a Safari issue; you'd get the same result with Firefox or any other browser.

  • IPhoto and Safari issue

Hi I have a weird issue that has been causing me some frustration for the past few months. Say I have Safari open already and a few tabs. If/When I add pictures or make changes to my iPhoto library, they are not visible in my library when accessed through Safari. For example, when adding pictures to a craigslist ad, it opens up a finder style window where I choose "PHOTOS" from the left sidebar and it populates my iphoto library/events/etc. Well it shows the state of iPhoto whenever that Safari session was launched, not realtime. So any pictures I have added or changes that have been made to the library since that Safari session was started are not visible to me. If I quit Safari and restart they are there, but it is kind of irritating. Does anyone have a solution to this?
    Thank you.

    Hi there!
Yes, same problem too; I've already sent an email to apple support and just received a very vague and unpractical response with "call apple support in your country" as main advice. I've obviously emailed back stating that I need a clearer response and I don not have any intention to spend money calling for support when updates is a free tool. I do also believe this is a probem generated on Apple's end, I just wish they learned to say "sorry, it's us;  working on it!"

  • OSX Mavericks and Safari Issues

Just a few notes on my rather unpleasant experience upgrading to Mavericks. Normally I don't upgrade immediately but had some time on my hands.
I upgraded a 15" MB Pro that I use for a spare out of office computer. The system came with 10.8 installed and I had very few applications or data on the machine. Immediately after upgrading to 10.9 Safari opened, but would not load any page I typed into the address bar. It would load a page I clicked from bookmarks, but anything I typed did nothing. Then, it mysteriousy worked, then the SGOD took over. After I was able to reset Safari it repeated the same behavior.
Against my better judgement I decided to upgrade Safari on my Mac Pro to see if I could replicate the issue. On neither system do I run anything other than a flash plug in. No extensions, no fluff. The Sr. Advisor verified all plugins were removed from the respective libraries and the MB Pro would still work intermittently, the Mac Pro would freeze the instant I opened Safari. Thank goodness for Time Machine! After demonstrating worse performance on 10.8 I rolled back the upgrade to my most recent backup just a few hours earlier.
I created a brand new user account on the MB Pro to see if it would behave normally. Initially it seemed fine, but then it started to behave erratically again. After fiddling more over the evening I decided it wasn't worth the effort. I copied the minimal data I wanted to save from the MB Pro and booted to Recovery, erased the primary partition and installed a clean version of Mavericks. Everything seems to be working fine now. One major benefit however, is that after I reinstalled my iLife '11 and iWork '09 from DVD (yes, some people still have them) I ran Software Update and every one of those apps was upgraded to the current versions! So Microsoft can take their $200 O/S's and $300 Office Suites and shove them in a very dark, smelly place!
If anyone's had similar issues please feel to add to the thread!

Bless you, Steve.Knepp.  Mazybe you wonder, "Why, BobNovy?  Because ...
In the past, I feel Hot to-Trot about Upgrades, no-matter the cost.  [I know that Mavericks itself is free, but I feel Suspicious about that, too.  :-( ]
After reading the discussions here about Mavericks, I feel like Waiting Awhile.

  • Mail and safari issues

Mail quits unexpectedly when trying to attatch a file, Safari quits upon opening. Firefox seems unefected. software update is trying to get me to update with (JAVA for mac os x 10.5 update 4 1.0) it fails to install after repeated attempts. I have a macpro 2.16 with 10.5.7 These are al new problems in last couple of days. I did a n update for safari and something else the other night but did not pay close attention as it downloaded and installed while I went to bed.
    Help please.

When you purchase DiskWarrior they will send you the disk and all the instructions. It's not hard to do. You will be booting from the DiskWarrior disk, so you don't have to worry about getting your Mac running before you receive DW.
Just my 2 cents... DW has saved my PBookG4 and my iBookG4 both without having to take them in for service.

  • Strange iPhone and HDTV Issue

This is probably the strangest iPhone issue I've encountered to date (even more weird than the "stop the image rotation half way" bug).
For those who either don't know or don't care, the Major League Baseball playoffs are going on right now. For the most part, the division series and championship series for both American and National leagues are being broadcast on TBS and TBS HD. When my Westinghouse 32" LCD HDTV is on TBS HD and I get a phone call, the TV begins to freak out and come to a screeching halt. Occasionally when the phone switches from EDGE to Wi-Fi, the same thing occurs. It's the most bizarre thing I've seen in a while. My guess is that the signal is interfering with the HDTV's built-in HD tuner, even though I'm using my cable box to watch TBS HD. However, no other channel does this (including other HD channels that are "over the air" HD); only TBS HD.
I know there isn't much I can do about it (it's kind of like dealing with GSM noise), but I was just wondering if anyone else has encountered this weird issue. It's also probably not iPhone-specific, but alas, I don't have another mobile phone to test this with.
At least I know when someone is calling me before the phone rings :P

I'm guessing its a Westinghouse thing. First off I thought they only made washers and dryers.
Anyway, I've had my phone around numerous manufactures HD TVs and have never seen this happen before. I'm guess that Westinghouse TV has some serious shielding issues that makes it very sensitive to RF.
    Thats my guess.

  • IOS 7.1, iPad 2 and Safari issue

Since updating my iPad 2 to 7.1, every time in use safari I have to type in my passwords and location details. These were all stored before. What's happened ?

    Hi guys,
Thanks for the response however I had already checked this  and it was turned on. What I have done since I posted the question is go into all the saved names & passwords and removed them. Maybe clearing this out might help. If not , then not sure what's going on.

  • Netscape (Mozilla) and Safari Crashes

Ever since I upgraded from my old G4 (which was running on OS 10.3.9) to my current iMac (dual Intel processors, running on OS 10.4.8), I've had problems with many, many web pages. Some web pages -- notably Yahoo.com -- don't load as quickly as they obviously should, and require me to click multiple times to load up. Worse, other web pages -- gap.com, for example -- simply cause crashes when I try to load them or work within them -- for example, to "load up" a shopping cart. Is this a problem that I need to resolve by taking my Apple back to the Apple Store, or is it something I can troubleshoot here at home?

I imagine that many of your old OS 9 files can be run on your Intel using newer applications, such as iPhoto. And, of course, something like Appleworks still works fine.
I'd try both disk repair procedures, first, then call Apple. Before they'll do any repairs, they'll probably ask you to reinstall the OS. That is how the possibility of a software issue is eliminated, leaving only hardware as the source. The Apple Hardware Test is nice to have, but running it without an error doesn't eliminate the possibility of a hardware issue.
If it was this difficult when new, and hasn't really gotten worse, then logically, either there was already a fault somewhere (such as bad RAM, bad HD, or flawed OS install) or else the problem started with (or during) the migration process. Either way, no one else has to put up with it, and you shouldn't either.
Be sure to backup all your important data before you hand it over to Apple. Also safest to do so before you try to reinstall the OS, if you should try doing that. Best of luck:)
    edit-
Have you added any third party software that might not be Intel compatible? Also, any virus protection? Widgets? Reinstalling the OS will eliminate those as possibilities, and give you the chance to see if your iMac works ok prior to loading it up. If you can first think of something that might be a possible cause, most everything is easy to delete from OS X, compared to OS 9's many spread-out files and extensions. It would save you from the reinstall hassle if you could figure out what it might be, and delete it first, or save to a DVD.

  • Strange noises and booting issues

    Hi,
My MacBook froze up this afternoon and started making strange clicking noises that sounded like someone typing on a computer. Because all my applications were completely frozen, I went to reboot, but now it is stuck on the loading screen. Is this because I have a CD in the CD drive and it is trying to boot from that? If so how do I get it out?

Sounds like your hard drive may have failed. Try booting from the Mac OS X installation DVD that came with your system (hold down keyboard "c" key during startup), then run Disk Utility from the Utilities menu before actually beginning the OS X install process.
If you have a non-startup DVD stuck in the optical drive, just hold down the keyboard eject button during startup to eject it.

  • Mozilla and IE issues with Flash Player

OK.  I have 2 machines.  1 would crash trying to play some videos on finance.yahoo.com in either the IE6 or latest Firefox with the latest version of Flash Player.
Machine #2 was able to play these videos in IE8 and latest Firefox.  The one difference between the machines is that machine #2 has IE8.
I updated machine #1 wih IE8 and now the IE8 AND the Firefox can now play the videos.  I can explain away IE6 vs. IE8 as websites are quickly shutting down support for the former, but I cannot explain why Firefox would only succeed if IE6 was replaced by IE8.
I am hoping someone has an idea.
In addition these are PC's in an enterprise so group Policy is in effect for both and both had the same patch level on XP.

  • Wi-fi and safari issues with a specific site

My iPad wouldn't connect  to my banks website or my banking app via my home wi-fi today.  It works when I change to mobile data though.  I'm able to browse other websites with ease via the same wi-fi connection though.  Yet when I use the same wi-fi connection on my home PC, I'm able to connect to the bank website. I took my iPad into an iStore today, and I could connect via their wi-fi.  So it appears to be a compatibility issue between my home wi-fi and my iPad.  Please let me know if you can help, as I'm stumped!

Your understanding of the problem seems correct to me. There's no way to fix it except to replace the logic board.
