Strange Netweaver release : 7.01

Hello fellow admins,
Since a few weeks, I have seen more and more OSS notes relating to Netweaver release 7.01.
If I'm not mistaken, such a 7.01 release does not exist.
I know only Netweaver releases 2004, 7.0 and 7.1.
So I've come to the conclusion that when OSS notes speak about Netweaver 7.01, we are supposed to understand Netweaver 7.0 EHP1.
Do you agree with my conclusion ?
This creates a problem because some notes are said in the text to be applicable to 7.0, 7.01 and 7.1 but the correction is only valid for 7.01 and so SNOTE refuses to apply the correction in 7.0....
Regards,
Olivier

hi.
i agree with you  - 7.01 is 7.00 with ehp 1. it is in ramp-up at the moment...
best regards,
Martin

  • Is their roadmap for the next major release of Netweaver stack?

In the ERP area, I found this link that mentions a roadmap for mySAP ERP2005 and beyond.
Is there a corresponding "beyond NW04s" roadmap? Or is the next major release of Netweaver targeted for 2010 as is the next major mySAP ERP release mentioned in the above mentioned roadmap?
    <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/5bd723c2-0d01-0010-97a5-cb14fe7f2810">mySAP ERP2005 roadmap and beyond</a>

Tobi,  I can't go too far into it, but I can assure you that the next major release of Netweaver will not be in 2010.  The idea is that you will be able to upgrade your Netweaver layer without upgrading the core(ECC).  That means that you can stay current with technology while your business stays the same.  So there will be Netweaver releases every so often before 2010.

    Hi,
How to import Support Package 13 for SAP NetWeaver 2004s BI (BI Patch 13 or SAPKW70013)
Note no for that is : 1019055.
    Thanks in Adavance,
    Dushyant.

    Hi,
RTC for BI 7.0 SAP_BW SP 13 is scheduled in CW 21, that is coming week, after that you should be able to download it from service market place.
@others: Dont get confused about SPS release with SP release. BI has intermediate release which is SP release, SPS is SP-Stack release (which is NetWeaver release).
SP 12 correspond to SPS 12 which is sceduled CW 21.
    Hope this helps.

  • Release date for new TREX features (esp. guided nav, thesauri/topic maps

In a SAP presentation on TREX, the outlook for future improvements listed the following items :
    - combine QBT and EBT
    - Thesauri and XML Topic Maps ***
    - Taxonomy Import
    - Guided Navigation ***
    - Additional languages
    - Additional Formats
I am especially interested in the items annotated with ***
Is there any information available when these feature will become available.
Will they be part of one of the next Netweaver 2004 stack levels or are these features planned only for the next Netweaver release (2005 or later)
In addition there has been the announcement of TREX Enterprise Search which should allow searching across both structured and unstructured data sources. Any news on that ?
Thanks in advance for your information

Message was edited by: Theo Paesen

    Hi Theo,
in general, the features you list are TREX features and have hopefully been presented as such. Features of TREX are not necessarily fetaures of KM. Many SAP solutions use TREX in quite a few different ways. Some for document search (such as KM, PLM DMS and more) some for accelerated table data scans (such as BI, CRM and more).
Thus, you do not find all TREX features being used at the same time in the same solutiuon. And, to anticipate that question, sorry, the direct TREX APIs are still not public.
    <b>Point by point:</b>
    <b>- combine QBT and EBT</b>
    Available in TREX engine
    Planned for KM (no date)
<b>- Thesauri and XML Topic Maps</b>
XTM available through TREX Python Extensions
    No plan for KM
    More info under:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/documents/a1-8-4/how to enable semantic search or search for synonyms in trex.pdf
    <b>- Taxonomy Import</b>
    Preliminary workaround available in KM
Full-featured with KM Transport in SPS15
    <b>- Guided Navigation</b>
    Available in TREX engine
(very simple example at http://help.sap.com "narrow by info class")
Different plans in different solutions, KM not before 2006
    <b>- Additional languages</b>
    Happening constantly, coming up:
    Slovakian, Slovenian, Catalan, Croatian
(That is for TREX engine linguistics. Not necessarily all UIs translated.)
    <b>- Additional Formats</b>
    Happening constantly, coming up:
    HWP2 Hangul 2002 (text only)
ICH new support for Ichitaro 13 and 2004
JBG2 new support for JBIG2 files embedded in PDF files
    MIME Mime encoded mail messages
MPP new support for Project 2003 (text only)
PDF new support for JBIG2 files,
PP97 new support for PowerPoint 2004 and v.X for Mac
QP9 new support for Quattro Pro version 12
SHW3 new support for Presentations version 12
SO6 new support for paragraph- and character-level attributes
    VCRD new support for vCalendar
VISO new support for Visio 2003
W97 new support for Word 2004 and v.X for Mac
WP6 new support for Word Perfect version 12
XL5 new support for Excel 2004 and v.X for Mac
    <b>Enterprise Search...</b>
...is not a TREX feature, technically speaking.
    ...is a meta search framework.
...will connect to any solution providing a search functionality.
...will connect to as well TREX-using is completely non-SAP solutions.
...will use e.g. KM, BI and MDM as some of its default sources.
    ...will ship in 2006.
    Hope that clarifies,

  • Netweaver, Objectlist in ABAP Workbench empty

    Hi,
In ABAP Workbench/Object Navigator I (BCUSER) don't see the dropdown control (object list). The slot containing the objects is empty and diabled.
The system state is after new installation of the Trial version without any problems or errors, no changes have been made.
    Any help is appreciated.
    regards

    Hi Michael,
I'm afraid you've posted in the wrong forum, I don't think we can help you with your issue.
If not already done, please try to find a more suited forum, possibly a forum which is more directly involved with your Netweaver release version.

  • SAP NetWeaver component naming (and numbering)

I have noticed this week (10-Oct-2005) that a number of the NetWeaver components have been renamed. For example, Enterprise Portal now seems to be called NetWeaver Portal, etc.
What is the next 'evolution' of SAP NetWeaver component naming (and version numbering)?

    Hi,
Just to add to my colleagues response. The SAP NetWeaver components are actually going away (they still exist for historic reasons). The new approach will start with SAP NetWeaver 2004s.
Because of the growth of SAP NetWeaver technology and the reuse of features from one component in another and in new capabilities there is little sense in retaining the components naming.
Is BI still BI if new functionality means you always access it through a portal for admin and query execution?
So as the portal needs J2EE, BI will requires ABAP, J2EE, Portals, kmc, and BI from SAP NetWeaver. Is this the same old BI? We don't think so.
This simply stops making sense to have pigeon holing component names on an ongoing basis especially when you start really blurring the lines between 'components'. They do not work!
So SAP is now delivering SAP NetWeaver features and functions as IT Practices and IT Scenarios. These replace the component based rollout of SAP NetWeaver. For more information see the SAP service marketplace (http://service.sap.com/netweaver)
You will still see the SAP NetWeaver 'fridge' slide as this is showing capabilities of SAP NetWeaver (example: BPM and Integration broker). Their will be more and more capabilities added as we add more meaningful groupings of technologies (example of recent ones: SAP NetWeaver MDM and Visual Composer).
So, in short the component names are going away and being replaced by IT Practices/IT Scenarios.
    I hope this helps,
    Mike.
P.S. Release numbers also history for SAP as we don't have components - so you will only see SAP NetWeaver release names like 2004s.

Need clarification for these names, R/3, WAS, NetWeaver
    Thanks again for any input

    Hi Xueqing,
First of all, sorry for any confusion that we have caused you. I hope I can give you an answer that will clear up the confusion. Sorry, but it is a long explanation of the development of two application solution but history tends to be very long winded!
It is <b>not</b> true SAP R/3 Enterprise equals SAP Web AS, and I'll hopefully explain why:
In the beginning (at least in the client server world) SAP only ship SAP R/3. The technology layer under SAP R/3 was called SAP Basis. There was only SAP Basis under SAP R/3.
SAP then started to deliver other software solutions that were not included in or built on the SAP R/3 software. These included SAP Business Information Warehouse, SAP APO, SAP SEM, SAP CRM, and the list goes on.
These solutions needed to run on technology layer (like SAP R/3 did). SAP Basis was the obvious choice for this because of the common technology layer providing DB/OS abstraction and a coding environment.
    <b>~2001:</b>
Later there came the need to have SAP Basis support the web and its web standards and other programming languages. This radically changed what SAP Basis was and we decided to rename the new technology layer to SAP Web Application Server (SAP Web AS). So the SAP Basis name was retired and SAP Basis 4.6D was the last release called SAP Basis.
The new release and the "technology change" means that all the applications mentioned above now ran on SAP Web AS. The first release of SAP Web AS was 6.10.
    <b>~2002:</b>
SAP Web AS was first used in SAP R/3 Enterprise release .
The important fact is that SAP R/3 Enterprise runs on SAP Web AS. SAP R/3 Enterprise = SAP R/3 business applications + new business functions + SAP Web AS.
    <b>~2003:</b>
I hope the above explanation is clear, because technology takes another major change. It was realized that SAP now had a collection of business solutions/applications (SAP R/3, mySAP CRM, mySAP SCM, etc) and a collection of technology solutions (SAP Web AS, SAP BW, SAP EP, etc). The technology requirements for the business solutions did not end at SAP Web AS, they needed portal, data warehouse, knowledge management capabilities, etc to develop business solutions on.
To address this SAP made the decision to combine all the technology solutions and tools into one single platform. This made complete sense for developers (SAP, Partners and customers). This single platform is called SAP NetWeaver. It includes all the old individual components of SAP Web AS, SAP BW, SAP KM, SAP EP, etc).
    <b>~2004:</b>
I think you can guess what the next step is. Yes, the new release of SAP R/3. Since the release of SAP R/3 Enterprise and the release of SAP NetWeaver, SAP R/3's name changes. It is now called mySAP ERP as it includes a lot of applications that were previously sold separately (like SAP SEM, MSS, ESS, etc).
So now mySAP ERP runs on SAP NetWeaver (yes everything that was in SAP Basis and then in SAP Web AS is still there but SAP NetWeaver has so much more now).
Also with the release of SAP NetWeaver, SAP starts to stop using the old technology component names - you will not hear us talk about SAP Web AS, SAP BW, etc anymore, just SAP NetWeaver releases.
In addition all the other SAP business applications also run on SAP NetWeaver, so the latest version of mySAP CRM, mySAP SRM, and mySAP SCM all run on SAP NetWeaver.
So to simplify the explanation, it would be :
    <b>Evolution of SAP R/3:</b>
    SAP R/3 (up to release 4.6c) -> SAP R/3 Enterprise (releases 1.00 through 2.00 -> mySAP ERP (2004 onward)
    <b>Evolution of Basis:</b>
SAP Basis (up to release 4.6d) -> SAP Web AS (up to release 6.40 which was included in SAP NetWeaver '04) -> SAP NetWeaver (2004 onward)
SAP NetWeaver and mySAP ERP have <u>their own release cycles</u>. mySAP ERP always has an underlying technology release that it is built on (this is a SAP NetWeaver release)
    I hope this helps,
    Mike.

  • New IBM JDK 1.4.2 for SAP NetWeaver 2004 and 2004s

In May 2006 IBM System p brand and SAP announced the direction to enhance the IBM AIX 5L JDK 1.4.2 for SAP NetWeaver 2004 and SAP NetWeaver 2004s based applications. The new IBM JDK 1.4.2 for SAP NetWeaver applications on AIX 5L is 100% upward compatible for all SAP business applications and, compared to the classical AIX JDK, provides a more consistent runtime behavior, enhances memory management, and improves debugging capabilities.
<b>General Availability (GA) of the new IBM JDK 1.4.2 for SAP NetWeaver 2004 and 2004s on AIX 5L</b>
As part of a staged release process aligned between IBM and SAP a customer pilot program was started in August 2006 followed by a Controlled Availability (CA) program. Based on positive customer feedback resulting from real production usage and the very encouraging internal test results, the new IBM JDK on AIX 5L is/will be generally available
    •     for SAP NetWeaver 2004 SP14 and above starting at 5th of February 2007
                    and
    •     for SAP NetWeaver 2004s SP06 and above starting at 30th of March 2007.
This means systems running above SAP NetWeaver releases in an AIX 5L environment are allowed to use the new IBM JDK without restrictions.
This announcement does not affect the use and support of the classical AIX JDK outside SAP environments.
<b>Transition Plan to the new IBM JDK 1.4.2 on AIX 5L</b>
SAP will support the classical and the new JDK in parallel for a limited number of NetWeaver support packages. Afterwards only the new IBM JDK will be supported:
    •     for SAP NetWeaver 2004 the first support package only supporting the new JDK will be SP21 (planned date for SP21 see http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700001130682005E),
    •     for SAP NetWeaver 2004s it will be SP14 (planned date for SP14 see http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700004584092005E).
So please plan a transition to the new JDK prior to the upgrade to these support packages.
SAP and IBM strongly believe that the switch to the new JDK will improve your experience with JAVA based SAP applications on AIX 5L. Both companies recommend upgrading to the new IBM JDK 1.4.2 for SAP applications running on AIX 5L as soon as it matches your company’s maintenance plans.

You can download the JDK directly from the sun java website...
    http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/1.4.2_12/index.html
I don't think Ubuntu is supported...

  • SAP Netweaver Certification

    Hi friends
I am planning to appear for SAP NetWeaver Examination( SAP BASIS).  I have couple of queries.
    1.     Could you please confirm the latest version of TADM10,TADM12 & TADM51 documents. I have all these documents with 2005 quarter 4 version. Are these sufficient to clear the latest SAP NETWEAVER 7 BASIS examination. If not, then what is the latest version.
    2.     Also, could you tell me how long is the validity for  C_TADM51_04 paper.
    Many Thanks for your help

    Hi,
1.These TADM10,TADM12 & TADM51 books are not for sale, hence not sure about the latest version. Check out with SAP authorized training centers. These documents are sufficeinet for certification.
    2. There is no validity mentioned on SAP certification. You can always write Delta certification if any new version of Netweaver released.

  • ST02 shows multiple servers after heterogenous system copy

We're facing a strange behaviour in ST02 after a system copy using MaxDB backup/restore with SWPM (backup was from our production system). When we click on history, no data is shown:
We have to click on "-> Server", then the data is shown:
Does anyone know how to make history work?

    Hello Alwina,
    Thanks for the help.
Mine is EHP7 NW 7.4, standard system, cent serv instance(Mes Serv & Enqueue server), primary app server (Dia Bg Up Spo) runs on the single host along with Oracle DB 11.2.0.4.
In my rest of the systems also I have the same notations, server name its in upper case and hostname is in lower case (ofcourse they are of other netweaver release) for SM51.
    niping results
    Hostname/Nodeaddr verification:
    ===============================
Hostname of local computer: EUSAPADHR01                      (NiMyHostName)
FQHN of local computer: EUSAPADHR01.dfs                      (NiGetOwnFQDN)
    Lookup of hostname: EUSAPADHR01                              (NiHostToAddr)

    Lookup of IP-Addr.: 10.170.83.88                             (NiAddrToHost)

Yes initially it gives 8 characters in the text.
But in the actual values it is like eusapadh_HRP_40..
    Hope you understand my case.
Ok so implementing the note would fix this ST02 history issue - confirm?
