That's your handsfree bluetooth device icon, it shows up when you are connected to the device, the white color shows the battery status.

This may be the TTY symbol. Go to Settings > Phone and disable TTY.

This is simply he rotation lock icon showing up. It means that your iPad 2 running iOS 5.5.1 is "locked" in either portrait or landscape mode. This restricts the screen from rotating when you tilt it. This feature can be very useful in certain cases. To disable this feature, simply double tap on the home button to access the multitasking menu. From there, swipe to the right and tap the icon that looks like a lock with a circle around it. Depending on the settings on your iPad, you may have to turn off rotation lock by flipping the switch directly above the volume switch into the opposite position as it is in now. Hope this helped! Actually, there seems to be a bit of a bug. Encountered this with a couple of files my wife made. The files were set to "open with" the new Keynote, but clicking the file brought up this error. Right-clicking and selecting "open with..." worked correctly. I can only assume the OS was attempting to open the file with Keynote '09 despite the file property setting.
Probably requires a Launch Services DB reset (although I haven't actually tried it on my wife's MBA yet...since she's still "working on stuff". So I can't confirm if it will solve the problem).

That icon indicates your iPhone is rotation locked.
To remove it, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open Control Center. Tap the similar looking icon there to turn it off.

That is from the Apple site. If all your friends have an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad you cang share with your friends, with is exactly like BlackBerry Messenger (BBM only works on BBs).

It's the screen orientation lock. It prevents the screen from switching between portrait and landscape views when you turn the iPod.
To engage or disengage this feature, double click the home button. This will bring up the multitasking tray. Swipe all the way to the left until you see the iPod controls, then tap the gray icon with the lock on it. This will toggle the feature on and off.

Screen orientation lock. Double click the home button to bring up the recent app bar. Then finger swipe left-to-right to bring up the iPod controls. The icon on the far left (circle with lock in it) is the orientation lock button - press it, and the lock will go away.

If you are using automatic syncing to load the iPod, all songs on the iPod are in your iTunes music library. So, you won't need to transfer anything from the old nano. Just sync the new iPod from your iTunes library the same way.
If you use the Manually manage music setting, AND there are songs on the iPod that are not in your iTunes music library, you will need to off-load songs to your computer first. You cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store). However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer. If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer" you should get some links.

E51 : a strange new icon appears and more ...

few days back i had updated my one year old almost perfect E51. Prior to the update the only problem i would face was auto restart during long EGPRS data sessions(no 3G in India yet). After the update i observe that the auto restarts have reduced, the phone bootup time is prologned almost doubly and to it seems the voice call quality has gone a little down on both ends.
Also after several new application downloads i have suddenly noticed a new ICON permanently appearing just below the Battery level indicator on the Home Screen. The new Icon shape is a TRAY (horizontally laid square bracket of keyboard) with a vertical upwards pointing ARROW in the middle of the TRAY.
any idea what this icon stands for.
