Strange noise after cold b

The problem occurs randomly after a cold boot.
When I get into windows and use the sound-card with anything. Playing a movie or just listen to some music doesn?t make a difference.
There comes some sort of strange sound. It?s really hard to describe. It?s Very high frequensy. You can't hear what?s acually ment to be played.
But when I change mode. It fixes the problem.
This first happend to me with the newest drivers.
2.07.0004
before that this never occured. I then used the lates availible at the time beeing.
When I have the computer running this phenomenon never happends. It?s just after a cold boot. I really never restarts my machine so I can't be certain to that.
Hope you can help me. No other problems has occured.
My machine is the following
Abit IC7-G with the latest bios
No conflicts in windows
everything working perfectly

Funny, I just bought a new powerbook a little while ago and hear a strange squeaking sound (like a power spike coming from the battery or something)when I type. It only happens when the computer is 'thinking' and the keys themselves don't make any noise. I thought it was the powerbook, not the OS.

    Hello Wendy
Please don't understand me wrong but it is not easy to understand issue described in your posting.
I have the same notebook model and everything works well. I hear music daily on Windows media player (mp3s) or listening online radio using Winamp player.
At the same time I can use flash cards.
What to say about strange noises? Who knows what do you mean exactly and how should we understand this?
Please be so nice and explain us exactly what do you do and what kind of noises you can hear.

  • HP Pavilion dv6500 strange fan noise after boot up

    Hi everyone,
I've got problem...when I boot up, I can hear strange noise which comes out from the laptop fan. It sounds like a loud buzz or something like that and appears only after boot up and lasts approximately for 2 minutes, then disappears.
I've already tried to clean the fan with air compressed can, but with no luck. Then I completely disassembled the laptop, unscrewed the fan and heat sink from the motherboard, cleaned it  and replaced the thermal grease on the CPU and GPU. Despite of that, the noise appears again.
I know that this model is five years old, but if there is any other option than replacing the whole fan with new one, I'll really appreciate it. Thanks for your advices.
    HP Pavilion dv6500 (dv6680ec)
    Ubuntu 11.04 32bit / Windows 7 32bit
    Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 (1,5GHz)
    GeForce 8400M GS
    2GB RAM
    160GB HDD
    15,4'' Screen

    What should you do?
Whatever you want, I personally sold the laptop for 700€ and bought the cheapest new Asus 15” dual core laptop I could get for 300€ and you know what... it s working great for a year and a half now and most important ... QUIET so much that I didn’t hear it even once for now even when watching HD movies or doing a 3D games, and I really mean it NO SOUND AT ALL! …
Happy forever, but it was a great lesion for me with HP Pavilion "quality" products.
P.S. One another thing, build quality is even much better at laptop for 300€ not to mention the Pavilion for 700€ where all the so called chrome decorations almost fallen off,the DVD tray or slot had strange alignment to the whole laptop (little bit cranny) and so on…. Bottom line it’s too much fragile.
HP is for me forgotten story, period.
    Have a nice day.

  • Strange noise emitted from iphone a few seconds after I hang up.

Since the most recent iphone update, my phone emits a strange sound after I hang up from a phone call. It usually happens a couple of seconds after I hang up. Basically it sounds like the speaker phone clicks on and then off, emitting gibberish for about half a second.
Has anyone else had this problem?

this is the absolute first time I have seen this... things I would try is this...
first I would try rebooting the phone by holding the sleep/wakeswitch and home button until you see the white apple logo appear
second I would try restoring from a backup
and if that doesn't work i would try restoring as new
if all that fails take it back to the apple store..

  • External iSight makes noises after connecting

After connecting my external iSight to my ibook g4, the camera makes a strange noise, probably coming out of its mic or the lens which is like trying to focus..or I don´t know. It´s a short buzzing sound which sometimes appears while the camera operates. I hope somebody has got an explanation for this..

    Welcome to Apple Discussions, Artjom
In my relatively quiet location, I can occasionally hear External iSight's auto-focus mechanism make what I can best describe as a quite "chhhh" sound. It makes the noise for me when I plug iSight in, and also when I change my position or hold something up between me and the camera during a chat. Your description sounds to me as if you are describing the auto-focus mechanism's sound.
You can test your iSight to ensure it is functional. The second part of the test page deals with testing External iSight's auto-focus. Use bright light while you are testing to rule out problems of insufficient illumination. Best quality video requires more light than what I consider normal room lighting. Listen for your sound when you change the distance in the focus test. If you want to be thorough, try testing again with your iSight on a different Mac. If the sound you hear during the test is what you have been hearing, you are, indeed, hearing iSight focusing, and you have nothing to worry about.
However, if the auto-focus "chhhh" is not the sound you are posting about, your iSight may need service. Did your iSight only recently begin to make this sound, or is the sound growing louder, growing longer in duration, or occurring more frequently? If so, you might want to take your iSight and your iBook to your Apple-Authorized Service Provider for a professional check. There are no user serviceable parts inside iSight.

  • My ipod touch makes a strange noise when makes the synchronization with itunes

At first my ipod touch began doing strange noise in differents situations. Yesterday I try to solved it doing this: I connected it to itunes a made a restore. I thought it was solved, but today the noise came back.  I could identify when it happens. If the ipod is off and I plug the usb cable, itunes starts and the ipod turn on, then the first thing it do is connected to the wifi network, then syncronizations began and the strange noise is heard.
    Some idea?
Do you think it would be neccesary to visit an apple store to solve it. My ipod is even covered by warranty.
    Thank you very much.

  • Dropped calls...kind of (strange noises and cannot continue talking)

    Hello,
I was wondering if someone has this problem: when 3G is on, when I talk to someone on the phone after some time (40secs - 2min) I suddenly hear very strange noises, the other person hears those noises too and I must hang up because the we cannot hear each other. The call is not dropped but it is not usable either. It is like some alien signal or so, or like someone talking under water...I don't know how to describe it. When I turn off 3G there are no problems.
After installing update 2.0.2 it seems that this problem does not happen so often anymore but it still happens alot. I basically cannot do 3G calls because I am afraid that in the middle of the call the noises will appear and I cannot continue talking.
    Anyone has this problem ?

    Jim,
If you are in a poor service area for Verizon, shop for another carrier that covers it well.  Ask around, don't count on coverage maps.    Consider carriers than will help with ETFs.   Your cell contract does warn you the carrier is not responsible if you are in an area of poor service.  If others in your area have good Verizon service, then it may be your phone that is bad.

  • MacBook Pro makes strange noises

My MacBook Pro recently started to make strange noises like an elecyticity cable was sparkling. Today I closed the screen to move it and started to make a greater sound like an old ventilator when I opened back then it went into sleeping, can somebody tell me what is happening?
    Thanks

I think I had the same problem as you on a 13" MBP. After the grinding noise, did your laptop suddenly make a really fast whooshing sound? If that's what you're experiencing, there might be a broken ball bearing in your fan. In that case, you have to take it to an Apple Store and get that replaced.

  • N97, strange noise inside the phone

    Hei,
today I noticed a strange noise when waving the phone. It was heard behind the camera.
The noise was  heard after taking the battery, sim & SD card away, but not when the key pad was opened.
It sounds like something were lose inside the phone.
So went to Nokia service point. There we noticed that the other two 97's, that they had there,  had the same noise although not so loud as in mine.
The service guy had not noticed the same before and told me to wait until he gets more information.
Has some of you the same problem?
    N900, N95

I hear a strange noise in my phone too. After a bit of testing I realised that something is moving slightly only when the phone's keyboard is closed. When you open the keyboard and shake the phone, nothing is heard. I suppose the plastic hinges thingy mechanism that holds the keyboard makes the noise and when the keybord is close its a bit loose and makes the sound. I also think that this is the reason why on some phone the vibtation sound weird- cause this plastic thing rattles about when the phone is vibrating.
    Can someone confirm this?

  • Noise after adding visual effects or tranisition

    Hi there!
I recently edited a movie with iMovie. After adding some effects or transitions I noticed a strange noise (some kind of crackling).
    Here are my questions:
How can I restore the original clips? I saved and closed that project before I noticed that crackling.
How can I avoid that noise when adding effects or transitions?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hello,
After adding some effects or transitions I noticed a strange noise (some kind of crackling). How can I avoid that noise when adding effects or transitions?
Unfotunately, that is a known problem with iMovie sometimes. See this:http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107945
How can I restore the original clips?
Remove any transitions on either side of the clip you wish to restore. Click on the clip. Under 'Advanced' you should see the option to 'restore original clip.' Just select that and the entire clip from which that part came will replace it.

  • Weird noise after locking

My phone is making this strange noise when I lock it, it starts off slowly and then speeds to a fluid buzzing, and it sounds very close to the noise a cicada makes. It is VERY loud.
It only started doing it today, and only when I lock my phone. Turning the lock tone off also turns off the buzzing, but I'm worried that something is still wrong with my phone! I don't have very many applications, I recently updated Facebook but that's it.
If anyone else has this problem, PLEASE let me know!

I got my new iPhone 4 on the day of the release here in Canada (July 30, 2010). I knew about the antenna problem but I was willing to put on a bumper case to resolve that issue. Anyway, several days after I got the phone, I experienced this very loud weird noise coming out of the speaker every time I either unlocked the phone or locked the phone. Yesterday I experienced the same issue, but this time I decided to record this noise on the Voice Memos application and guess what; as soon as I pressed the record button or the stop button, that same noise was being emitted.
The problems seem to be piling up and that could explain the shortage of phones here in Canada; perhaps they are resolving manufacture issues. I am ready to take this phone back because it seems like an unfinished product.
