Strange non-fatal message when Firefox 6.02 starts in Win XP Pro x64
Since updating to version 6.02, a non-fatal message appears when starting Firefox. Message is: "Using registry key: Software\AppDataLow\1fd1c56". Clicking "OK" results in Firefox loading. Frequent page redirects to random sites. No change after backing up profile with Mozbackup 1.51, uninstalling/reinstalling Firefox, then restoring profile from Mozbackup. Modest improvement after regedit deletion of registry key, but it reappears. Malwarebytes found and removed Win32:Adrotator, but problem persists.
On Firefox 7.0.1 on Windows XP, I found a mysterious "z 4.6.7.6" addon that was causing the problem. The "z 4.6.7.6 add-on" doesn't have an Uninstall feature, so I typed "about:support" in the address bar and looked up the extension ID. I then deleted the folder "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Extensions\<Extension ID>" and restarted Firefox. The add-on was gone and so was the problem!

Personas which have been working for a long time suddenly quit working on Win 7 and Linux. I tried changing to a different persona to change the background for the top border of the window and it just goes to some odd color and the personas just don't show up. This has been with Firefox 30, 31, 32. The personas still work with Win XP Pro run as a virtual machine on Win 7 host or Win 8 host. I thought it was a Windows thing until I saw the same problem with Linux. Everything else seems normal so this isn't a real bad problem. It's just odd.
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Never remember history).

If this is an evaluation lab, then it's time to rebuild it.
If this is a production system, then you'll need to contact product support, show proof of ownership, and get their tool that will convert the management group to a licensed version.
Generally, when building a system for production, you should do it with a full product key. there is no supported method to add the license key later except through product support's special tools. -
After upgrading to version 11.0.4.4 I get a "Itunes has stopped working" message when I try to start a movie on my PC. I have updated Quick time and previous version of Itunes worked great.
One thing is for sure, and that is if the only page i visit is the Google homepage (not logged in) or this site (mozilla forum), the problem does not occur, ever. I can't make it happen.
If i visit yahoo.com (not logged in) (or ighome.com, logged in), as examples, it happens every time. -

I'm using Adobe media encoder and it outputs the file as f4v formate and when inserted into the adobe captivate 8 project, I found that I'm still getting the same error message after publishing the project. I'd appreciate if you have any useful suggestions.

Problem messages when Firefox downloads update
Over the last couple of weeks I get the following sequence of events every few dats:
# A message from Norton Internet Security that updater. exe is safe
# A message that an unknown publisher updater. exe. is attempting to access my computer. I click on allow the program
# A message from Firefox that I should apply the updates as soon as possible. I click on more information
* A software update window that shows "connecting to update server" But it never connects, even if I leave the window open for hours.
# Firefox opens but there is no message saying updates were successfully installed.
If I go to About Firefox:
* It checks for and downloads updates . The Apply button appears
# I click on apply and the same sequence of events as above occur
According to About Firefox I currently have Firefox 4,0, Yahoo edition 1.8. I have Windows Vista.If Firefox gave you the following error message:

This error message may be caused when Firefox is set disallow third party cookies.
To accept the third party cookies:
go to Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> tick 'Accept third party cookies'. -
How do I resolve the "Mozilla cannot find runtime" error message when I try to start Firefox?
Mozilla Firefox updated to version 36.0. When I click on the Firefox icon to open it I receive the message: "Mozilla cannot find runtime" I receive the same message if I try to open Firefox by selecting "firefox.exe" from within the Program Files. I subsequently uninstall Mozilla Firefox and reinstall it. It will open and run normally right after the re-installation. Then if I close the program and try to re-open it again, I get the same "Mozilla cannot find runtime" error message.

I also have experienced this during several upgrades, not just the latest. (I am using Windows XP and Norton Security Suite.) Norton identifies c:\program files\mozilla firefox\updated\xul.dll with the Suspicious.Cloud.9.B virus and removes the file. I can set the Norton installation to accept xul.dll but it would make more sense for a Mozilla expert to contact Norton and work out a permanent solution, for all who are facing this problem. -
Getting error message when Firefox starts
I am getting the following message when I start Firefox ever since I upgraded to the newest version (4.0.1). This is what it says:

Firefox doesn’t load until I click the OK button in the message. What is causing this?Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Error message when firefox opens
I was unable to load firefox. It gave a message that firefox was running and that i needed to restart my computer. I did that several times and it still did not work. When I restarted the computer it recommended I restore due to issues, I did so and then Firefox would not loaded. So then I uninstalled firefox and reinstalled it. After uninstalling, I get the message above, but after i click ok, it does allow me to use firefox, but i have concerns.

Rename secmod.db (secmod.db.old) in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] in case there is a problem with the file.<br />
You may have to rename cert8.db (cert8.db.old) as well.<br />
Firefox will create new files.
The file cert8.db stores user certificates and intermediate certificates send by websites, so if you have certificates that you want to keep then you may want to export them now and import them after having removed cert8.db.

If that works then you can delete the renamed files or undo the changes if you want to revert the process. -
Getting "fatal-" message when typing in my password
I keep trying to type in my password to update some apps..well first time i changed password and went back and it did it again. So i redid this 4 times..and it keeps giving me same message..now i was able to get onto this board but not sure how...i go to Itunes bc i wanted to buy song...Will not let me sign in. i have updated my password 4 or 5 times. has anyone got Fatal message before?

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

None of the solutions I have found online will work because they all require the ability to be able to start Firefox (for example: starting Firefox in Safe Mode).
Is there a way to remove / disable an addon BEFORE starting Firefox ?To start Firefox in Safe mode, simply hold down the Shift Key when starting Firefox, then remove the add-on

Windows Easy transfer , ERROR message when trying to copy settings to Win 8 PC
I have a new hp-TouchSmart Envy 23. It has 2TB drive.
I want to use Windows Easy Transfer to move all my settings and data from the Windows 7 machine to the new hp-TouchSmart (my older PC is hp desktop is model # m9177c and has Win 7 OS) .
I have used easy transfer many times and I am reasonably experienced user .
I just cannot transfer my settings and data to my new PC. I have therefore copies all my data to the hp-TouchSmart . However I need to use Windows easy transfer to move all my settings. I have a very large number of settings , macros and much else that would take a very large amount of time to re-type.
I get an ERROR message when I want to transfer my settings. It says I don’t have enough disk space. The file I want to transfer is only 10.5 GB (after I removed all my data). The new machine has 2TB and yet I keep getting this error.
I have tried every possible way of transferring the settings , including : external drive; flash drive; direct wire ; easy transfer cable etc. I keep getting the same ERR message .
I am sure Easy transfer must allow transfer from Win 7 to Win 8. BUT HOW?

Windows Easy Transfer will transfer from one drive to the other to mirror the original drive. What I suspect is happening is that the program is grabbing the D drive (recovery partition on most systems) and trying to transfer it to the new system which should also have a D drive. If that is happening,t hen that error will be thrown.
Try using the advanced options and view the report to see what exactly is happening and triggering the message.
Let me know what happens.

Error message when iTunes tries to start.
Whenever I try to start iTunes I get a send error report message. iTunes was working fine until I had to do a system restore, and then this problem started cropping up. I've tried reinstalling several times, and it doesn't seem to work.

the first thing that i check for when people report getting that message when they try to launch their itunes is a broken QuickTime.
try to open your QuickTime. does it launch properly, or do you get an error message?
if you get an error message, the first thing we'll try is a careful standalone QT 7.1 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.

Since I installed Nero 2014 I get an error message when I start iTunes that registry settings for importing and burning cds/dvds have changed probably due to other burning software installed please reinstall iTunes, which I've done using 'repair' option, but the problem persists. I have been able to import cds to iTunes since I installed Nero, but it won't anymore. Does anyone recognize this problem and have a solution? Thanks for any help. Using Windows 7.
