Strange numbers appearing in my iPhone 4 contacts
Earlier today I was scrolling through my contacts list trying to find my friend's number, when I noticed a lot of names I don't recognize. Most of them were from my area code (256), but a lot of them were from as far away as Michigan, Washington DC, New York and Florida. None of the names were people I recognized. I let some people borrow my phone, but it was always within sight of me and I was watching them play with it before handing it back to me untouched. I haven't downloaded any unofficial apps, my phone isn't jailbroken, and it's running iOS 5.1. Does anyone know what might be up? Should I be concerned?
Are you paying for a tethering plan? This has to be activated by your carrier and is generally NOT free.

Strange image appears on my iPhone image gallery, then disappears!
I was thumbing through my image gallery on my iPhone 3GS (iOS 4.3) the other day, when I thumbed to this weird image of a 3D emoticon with large fangy teeth. I paged back to it a couple of times, then it disappeared.
I've never seen this before, my first concern was that my phone is hacked or one of the apps did something. I've Google'd around and read some other similar stories, but nobody seems to know what's going on.
Anyone familiar with this oddity? Should I be concerned....
For the record, I've not jailbroken the phone or done anything strange.If you have not jail broken there is no way your phone can be "hacked" or compromised. It is very odd that this happened and I do not know exactly what you have been doing that might have caused this, but I don't think it's cause for concern. Perhaps you used an app that added something to your Camera Roll temporarily.

Strange Photos appearing in the iPhone camera roll
This has happened twice. Four pictures of hand drawn games like Hangman and Tic Tac Toe show up on the camera roll on the iPhone. And not right after a sync. Don't think I can post one here but I can send them to anyone who asks. Is this a virus?
Do you have an app that provides for hand drawn pictures on your iPhone? Do you use MMS?
There are no viruses in iOS4, but 4.0 and 4.0.1 have a "PDF exploit" that theoretically make it vulnerable to malware. (Do you understand the difference between malware and viruses?) So far, the only example of this is a jailbreaking technique. The exploit was patched with 4.0.2 (and 4.1)
OTOH, if your phone is jailbroken, it not only has the PDF hole, but is vulnerable to other attacks, and who knows what's in your phone. -
Strange icon appeared on iPhone4 bar
strange icon appeared on muy Iphone 4 bar, near the battery icon. it looks like a old telephone hand with buttons underneath. i wonder what it means and how it came there.
My iphone is not functioning properly and i cannot download the software update, wonder if it is related.

Thank you for your question. iTunes 11.1 is required to update to and sync with iOS 7. If you are still running iTunes 10.6.3, I recommend trying to obtain the update by going to the iTunes menu and selecting Check for Updates.

How come when I look at my text messages, my contacts' phone numbers appear instead of their contact names?
If you're with Verizon, here's what I found on the boards:
Dial *228, press 1 when the nice lady answers and wait until she tells you your phone has been successfully programmed.
Then hang up, and press the home key twice rapidly and delete the open/running apps that appear there - delete from that second screen, NOT from the Dock at the bottom of your home screen! You don't want to delete the programs, you just want to close the open/running apps.
Wait 5 minutes or so, then voila! Mine was fixed! -

i added 3 contacts and saved on my iphone 5, but do not appear on my list of contacts. the names appear when they text or call me. I have to go search for their messages when i need to call them?
Try to restore your iphone via iTunes or update to ios6.1.2.
If itunes gives an error with restoring (DFU/Recovery or just normal)
try this:
open your computer and search on windows; C://windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts
open up the hosts file in note pad you will see IP adresses and more add another line and put in this:
#74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
this is a by-pass to the cydia/saurik restore server, it has nothing to do with jailbreaking over voiding apple's warranty

after updating iphone 4s to ios7 , it restart and asking me to connect itunes , i connect it to the pc wz cable, the message appear that itunes couldn't contact iphone sofware update server coz there is no internet , i try other one and it works normally

That makes it difficult. My new (working) phone is a 4S and the SIM card does not fit. The old SIM card is in the 3GS but as far as I know it was was deactivated.
But it seems that with other updates over the last couple of years this was not necessary and my partner went through the same update with her 3GS with no problems.
Should I go to my AT&T dealer and purchase a new SIM card? Is there still a new one available? -
On my iphone a strange message appears

press and hold the home and power button at the same time wait for the apple sign then release the buttons phone will turn off and on
go to settings>general>reset>rest all settings phone will turn off and turn on by itself

A few things to try, in order...
Pop your SIM out, clean it and reinsert.
Reset your network settings.
Contact AT&T and make sure your account is provisioned properly.
Get a new SIM.
Restore from your backup.
Restore as new, i.e. without your backup.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue. Take it to Apple for a warranty replacement. -

I am writing in this forum because something strange occurs with my iPhone 3GS, not always. Suddenly, when I have the iPhone locked, a strange screen appears.

Anybody knows what does it means? It goes by as the same quickness than it appears.This is known as "flash" or "class 0" sms ot text. The message appears directly on the screen and isn't saved in the sms message log. It is utilized by some network administrators and sometimes by others if they know the right codes. Not all cell networks support them and iPhones sometimes don't handle them properly.

Some of the contacts entered in my mac addressbook (ios7.5) aren't appearing on my iphone 5. Calendar entries appear so the problem isn't that i cloud isn't set up properly. Any solutions?
What I finally did was to log into my icloud account online. I saw that all my contacts were properly synced from my MacBook Pro - so I unchecked "contacts" under iCloud preferences on my phone. Then I rechecked it and asked it to sync again. All the contacts from my MacBook Pro are now on my phone. Thanks for your help!

My boyfriend and I have each an IPhone with two different Apple IDs. Since the recent software his contacts appears in my Iphone. How can I switch that off? I have be looking at both Iphones and Iclouds.
All apps and purchases are linked to your apple ID, so you can't share them across 2 devices that are using different apple id's, it won't work. the purchases that are on your mac at the moment will only work with the apple id they were brought with.
the only thing thats possible to share is purchased music. you have to first covert it to mp3 within itunes, then your bf can import it into his own itunes library and sync with his phone. -
why is an address i added to my macbookpro not appearing in my iphone and ipad?
Did you add it to iCloud contacts or Local contacts. Check and see what lists you have in Addresses Book. Is it showing On My Mac contacts and iCloud? When you select all contacts, does it show duplicates?
