Strange Pixeling

Hi All,
I have an interesting problem. I recently acquired a used iMac G4 1 Ghz 17". It had a broken screen so I replaced the entire top portion of the iMac with one from another machine with a bad motherboard and PSU. Everything seemed to be fine until, about halfway through the 10.4 install a bunch of pixels appeared on the screen with the wrong colors. They run in almost straight lines about 0.5" apart. Their color changes based on the background being displayed. They do not appear as the machine is booting or as the machine is shutting down. They, also do not appear when I boot from cd into Disk Warrior v4.??. I ran xBench and when the graphics portion is running, none of the pixels appear incorrect in the test window. I disassembled the machine and made sure all contacts were clean and cable were properly seated. I also took the broken screen and hooked it up and where the image was able to be displayed, the same problem appeared. I used the original cables for both units, so I don't think it is the video cable or monitor. I also tested the hardware with TechTool Pro v5 and all hardware tested fine. It seems to me to be a driver issue, but cannot find any drivers for the GeForce4 MX 32Mb integrated graphics chip. I am assuming, since there was not an updated driver release from apple it is a problem only I am having. Anybody have any ideas?

But, when user auth is ok with Novell Client (against eDir), but is not attached with DLU via ZEN and appear Windows Workstation login screen and user cancel this dialog and return to Novell Client login screen, then before mentioned bundle is triggered, in some unknown for me reason. Because there is no ZEN login, not speaking about logout. I have similar bundle set to trigger at user login ... it does not run same way. Also, don't see same behavior when bundle is set to run at user logout.
Any ideas?
Btw. this kind of cancelling login is seems to related to getting a'lot of Bundle.ItemCreationError's described in http://forums.novell.com/novell-prod...ionerrors.html.
More thanks, Alar.
Hi Alar,
Do you have any update on you problem because I have the same issue and I am wondering if you found any way to bypass it??
I found another thread but no solution:

Thank you in advance for your answer,

PS: Zen version is 11.1

  • Strange pixeles in RAW image

    Hello.
I've been comparing Aperture with other programs in order to take the decision to buy it.
But last week I fund this particular issue.
I was editing this RAW file:
    http://homepage.mac.com/joakod/DSC_0022.NEF (5.2 MB)
And noticed some strange pixels and changed colors on the top of the cat's eye, this is a screenshot of it:
    http://homepage.mac.com/joakod/defecto.png
If I open the same file on Lightroom the pixels are not there:
    http://homepage.mac.com/joakod/sindefecto.png
This is without any modification to the RAW file.
What is the problem here? Is it an issue with Aperture? I don't think its an issue with the camera because the photo looks good in any other program.
My computer is a MacBook Pro with all the patches applied and I shoot with a Nikon D50.
    Thank you very much.

David, I think he is referring to this effect (at least, this is what is happening to me). Look at this two screen captures.
    http://amrosario.com/eyelash_aperture.jpg
    http://amrosario.com/eyelash_lightroom.jpg
The Lightroom version has been sharpened to see if I could duplicate the effect that is happening in the Aperture version, which is why it looks a little over-sharpened. The Aperture version is completely messing up the eyelashes in this image, and I find that it does that a lot with hair and other high frequency patterns, where Lightroom (and ACR and Nikon Capture) don't show this effect at all. It's almost impossible to fix in PS without a lot of retouching.
Aperture is creating all sorts of random pixels as well as colorizing bright highlights on hair and other fine details. Apple really needs to work on their RAW processing engine.

  • MBP Stalling/ Freezing/ Strange Pixelation

As of two nights ago, my Macbook Pro has been behaving very strangely and is currently out of commission. I had been having intermittent battery issues, which I thought were unrelated, but now I don't what to think.
    Here is the situation:
    1. The battery is bad, cycling at 44, won't hold full charge, local store had no parts available.
    2. The night before going to local Apple retailer, dead pixels started appearing and disappearing randomly all over the screen. First it's just a dot here and there, but that soon turned into weird patterns everywhere, as though my display is having an epileptic attack. MBP froze upon start-up and remained that way despite several attempts to restart. Ran disk utility: NO software or hardware problems found.
I finally shut down my laptop and left it alone for several hours. I turned it back in the morning and it seemed fine, a few lightning bolt flashes of dead pixels aside. Apple Store didn't run a diagnostic for whatever reason, went back home, and it got worse.
I keep starting it up only for it to either freeze at the Apple logo, or allow me to log in and have the desktop freeze. I ran another full check via Disc 1 (installer) and still no problems detected.
I was in the middle of backing up my data when my laptop froze again last night. The pixelation comes and goes and my computer stalls at variable points in start up.
Does anyone know what is causing this? (I've unplugged all peripherals, et cetera, removed the battery, and pressed the power putton for fifteen seconds ad nauseam; it's just not doing the trick.) Does anyone know if Apple can back up the remainder of my files if I bring in my external hard drive?
I'd be grateful for any advice on the matter.
    Thanks.

as Tjk said, check what is your graphic card...
    my 2 cents:
it didn't seem to came from it, but I will check temperature and try to experiment cooling more the mac, with smcfancontrol :
as your mbp was better after a night without power, may be it could come from that.
if you're a smoker and use it in a dusty environment , your mac cooling system may be obstructed by dust.
smcfancontrol is a cool way to check what temperature have the mbp.
for your battery !!! : dead at 44 cycles ???
    this is not normal...
are you using a rev A MBP with battery update 1.3 ???
at 44 cycles, you should have a battery with at least 60 % of it's capacity : you should phone to Apple in your country for that, may be they could do something

  • Strange pixel things happening!

When I use a still photograph taken on a 8 MP digital camera and use them in FCE I apply a zoom to the picture over a set length of time. Even though I have used photoshop to change the pixel dimensions and aspect ratio when I view the final movie either on a screen or tv the image has some strange dot crawl going on. I looks like certain areas of the image flicker.
    How do I resolve this?
    Thanks
    Lee

    Hi
As Tom say's it is .
but I would also test instead to apply a slight gaussian blurr in PhotoShop
my thumb of role is to use photos with about 125-150% of needed pixles
using exact pixel amount to PAL or NTSC gives me flicker if nobody else.

  • Strange Pixel Design on Replacement LCD Screen

I just received, from a well-known Apple internet shop, a replacement LCD screen for my wife's Late 2008 MacBook Unibody. The screen was advertised and sold as new.
I installed the screen only to discover an obviously intentional pixel pattern had somehow been embedded into the screen's lower left corner. You can see pictures here: <http://www.animedix.com/clinical/screen/strangepixelpattern.jpg>
I'll request another screen as soon as the replacement parts retailer opens on Monday (it's currently Saturday evening), but I'm wondering if anyone has seen anything like this, and what could have caused that strange L-shaped pixel pattern?
BTW, I'm refraining from mentioning the name of the retailer at this time, assuming they'll promptly correct the problem.
    Thanks,
    JC

I have the exact same problem,
ordered a replacement panel from a certain website
when it arrived i noticed an identical pattern in the lower left corner of the LCD panel. it is slightly rotated compared to yours so I would hope I didn't just receive the panel which you have returned
it was (barely) visible even when the panel wasn't installed in the computer so it would appear as if it is indeed printed or even drawn on the panel itself (or on one of the layers within). mine too had greasy blotches on it. i'll be emailing the company soon for a replacement and hopefully an explanation -__-

Hello Everybody, first I'm French so excuse me for my severals mistakes in English
I need some help on a very serius problem

I've already try a reinstallation, they still here.
Help me please, I really need a solution.
I have a Youtube Channel and I really don't want to stop in this way.

  • GIF comes out strangely pixelated with noise, never seen this before!

Everytime I export my animated GIF in flash it comes out in this weird pixelated way. Instead of everything being normally pixelated where they are just not as sharp, they come out with what looks like noise speckles all over them. The kind of noise that is not monochromatic. I have no Idea what this is or how to fix it and I have a client waiting for his web banner. I thought at first it was because I was using imported PNG's to make the GIF, but then I tried just making it in flash and it is still happening. I have played with every publish setting offered and I cannot make it clear, please help me!

Why do you want to change it to a png for placement? Just place it as the original .ai eps file you got. You never want to use a jpg, png or gif in a document that's going to be printed. The minute you change it to a png or jpg you're going to lose resolution. That's why it's pixelated

  • Strange pixels from slice behavior

    Hello,
I created a Fireworks PNG to swap images with rollovers in a three-section navigation.  There are no problems with any of the image swaps, but when I click the first link, "About", there's a red pixel that shows up to the upper left of the word that changes to blue upon releasing the mouse button.  This is obviously an "onclick" behavior, but I didn't think that there was a way to affect this in Fireworks.  There is a slight overlap of the slices for "About" and "Blog"; I suppose that could be an issue but the overlap doesn't occur where the pixel shows up.  If anyone has any ideas on what I can do to remedy this, I'd really appreciate it.  Thanks!

    Hi
To tell the truth it's a bit hard to figure out what the exact problem is. I have some ideas of how to use slices though, hope they help you.
-First, a slice can't be overlapped by a slice. You can achive that by using a slice and a hotspot but not a slice and a slice. So be careful not to draw slices together , one on another, cause this will not work.
-Also check the image you want to swap, it must have the same size with the slice you use to swap. If it doesn't, the result is paramorphosis. You won't see the image as is because it is going to be resized to fit the slice size.
-Go to your behaviors panel (if you use CS4) and check your slice behaviors. There is a restore on mouseout option which you may wanna change.

  • How to get rid of strange pixelation on exported videos?

I'm trying to export a video (with Final Cut Express 4), and it seems as if no matter what settings I use, I keep getting this nasty pixelation on the screen.

Someone's gotta have a solution to this....It's driving me crazy!

Wait, what a .dat file? From a video CD?
Those things are all horrible and crusty to begin with. Converting it to anything else will make it even worse than the thing already is.
So, you have edited some bits out. What do you want to do with this file? Final Cut Pro works with industry standard production formats -look in the Easy Setup menu. Those are what FCP expects.
I realize that this video probably has some value to you but FCP is not going to help you here.
Lets work on what you want to do wth it and find a solution.

I attached Screenshots-on the mission control screenshot, look at the Chrome and Finder Icons, and on the Chrome one, look at the left tab at the top; While I have seen the issue in other places ie other graphics in Finder, as well as icons in Chrome and Safari, I couldn't obtain screenshots of these; the basic issue, however, is that various graphics all appear like the ones in the mission control screenshot.  I am unsure if this is a software problem, or more likely a hardware/driver problem.  Has anyone else experienced this issue and/or know of a fix for it?  Thank you.
Update- I have noticed a similar issue with the same model that other people have had, but my particular pixelation appears to look somewhat different.

    IamAndrewWilson,
I have the same model MacBook Pro that you do. Have you tried booting from your Mac OS X Install DVD, to see if you can use the keyboard at that point?

  • What are these strange pixels?

This is happening more and more to my iMac 27".  There is a pattern of dead pixels (or something) as seen in this image.
That is a screenshot of a white background Photoshop CS5 document zoom level 33% at 300DPI, RGB color mode.
    Zoomed in:
    Over an image:
This is extremely annoying and started happening a couple weeks ago.  I've deleted my Preferences file and it still happens.  Anyone have any idea what this is?  It only happens at certain zoom levels.  If I zoom in a lot or stay very zoomed out, it is not there.  This pattern is the same across multiple documents and it's driving me crazy!  It looks like confetti over my documents and it is making image editing very difficult.

This appears to be graphic corruption. Let's do this test:
    1. Go to Photoshop>Preferences>Performance.
    2. Uncheck "Enable OpenGL Drawing", click OK.
    3. Reopen the image.
If the behavior goes away, it is time to uninstall and reinstall the video driver for your video card.

  • LED monitor strange pixel problem

So I got an LED monitor for Christmas. Today I noticed on some websites, some pixels are flashing different colours on some images. It's not those specific pixels though, if I scroll so that location is on another pixel, that pixel does it as well.
Is this a stuck pixel issue? Is there software I can run to help sort the issue out?

  • Strange Pixelated Display Issue

I recently began having a display problem with my 17" Macbook Pro (2007), running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. It's easier to show photos of the problem than to describe how it looks. See the below links.
This happens within the first few minutes of booting my system up. It isn't always so immediate. It always gets worse by itself over time. Eventually, I get the beach ball and my system completely locks up.
You'll see in the 3rd photo that it's happening at the login screen and that it doesn't happen around our user names and icons. On the 4th image, this is what happened when my system went to sleep by itself. I awoke it using the spacebar and the distortion was in a totally different pattern.

I'm really hoping the problelm is software based and not hardware. Any direction that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

So, after creating a bootable Lion USB drive and booting up with it, I still saw the distortion, telling me it's not OS X on my system drive.
Tafftech, your gut feeling is my worst gut feeling as well. Considering this thing isn't covered under an AppleCare plan any longer, I'm considering buying a used logic board from Ebay and using the walkthrough tutorial on ifixit.com to replace it myself. I found some at around $250. Not super happy about having to do that, but it's by far the cheapest route to hopefully solving this problem.
Before I started a career in design and animation, I was an IT guy, so I'm not afriad to get my hands dirty. Although this will be a bigger challange that I usually take on.
Anyone think this is a really bad idea for any reason? I appreciate other's more informed opinions on this stuff.
    Thanks

  • Strange pixels or static

    Hey,
When my Imac goes to a black screen such as loading a game or say a black screensaver like computer name. It appears that ther is static or interference like you would see on tv when you use particular electronic thing such as a paper shredder. The static is isolated to my middle to right side on my screen. The longer the screen is left black the less noticeable it gets . Anyone know what's wrong

If the above is of no help then you will need to do the following:
    System Preferences>Display>Display
Check the Colors & Brightness settings.
My Color setting is set to Millions which I believe is the default setting.
Now click on the Color button.
    Check Display Profile
Is Show profiles for this display only enabled or disabled?
If necessary click on the Calibrate button & do the necessary.
Now in the bottom right corner, click on the purple button w/the black ? mark in the middle. This will bring up the help window.
Midway down, click on the Colorsync Utility link.
The next window should be Profile First Aid.
Read & follow the instructions/details of About Profile First Aid: & do the necessary to Verify & Repair.
