Strange playback in IE 6

I have a presentation made up of a number of projects
published as Flash (SWF). The projects link to one another using a
buttons set to "Open URL or file". This all works fine when played
in IE 6.... except when you are using IE in Full Screen view.
When you press a button, the screen jiggles around a bit
before opening the next SWF.
I'd like to be able to use Full Screen view so that the
presentation is as big as possible when using a projector. (The
projector is roof mounted so I can't move it back from the wall to
get a bigger picture).
Anyone noticed this behaviour and know how to stop it?
Cheers,
Kerry

Hi there Kerry
I think it may be the middle of the night where Andrew lives,
so I'll offer something.
You asked:
I'm not sure I understand you on the first point. Pointing to a
.cp file will just open it in captivate won't it?
And that's a logical thought. What you may have missed was
that he first said to use the "Open other project" option. When you
use this option, indeed you do point at the project file (.CP file)
of the other project. But internally, Captivate knows how to sort
things so that when you produce the output it looks for the output
file and not the source.
Note that if you are using .EXE output, each one must play
individually. So you may see a pause as the one playing closes and
the next is opened. It's not quite as seamless as some would like.
Cheers... Rick

  • Strange playback trouble with some avi files

I downloaded a whole season of a tv show in avi format (mpeg layer 3, 48khz, 29.97 fps). Most of the files play fine, but several of them seem corrupt in a way I've never seen before.
They don't generate an error message ... but they stop playing for several seconds at a time, the audio goes off or out of sync, and the entire picture comes and goes, in a way that I can only describe as a mix of pixelation, jpeg-like edge artifacts, and acid trip-like traces and afterimages. Needless to say, it's hard to watch.
I tried exporting the movies from QT pro. No help. And of course I restarted quicktime several times. Other movies continue to play fine.
Any thoughts? Is it possible to fix these files or are they gone?

The format of file you gave is just for audio part, you didn't give us what kind of codec the .avi file have?
And it's nothing to do with QuickTime Pro I cam assume you that.
It probably has broken inside the .avi file somewhere.

  • Strange playback issue when GPU accel on.

Premiere CC - all latest updates. Nvidia diver - latest 337.88
not had problems before. Video exports fine. Just weird when playing from timeline.
Here's the sequence how it looks when paused:
Here's what it looks like as soon as I hit play:
I had changed the origins of each of the 4 video tracks to 0,0 and then positioned them, it almost appears like using CUDA it ignores the origins of the 4 tracks....  if I turn off GPU acceleration, plays fine.
    Any ideas?

i have both shot, captured, and log and transferred footage with this camera before today - never had this issue
footage plays fine in log and transfer window - when ingested, video plays back as seemingly slo-mo in viewer/canvas windows, with audio being correct sounding but truncated.
i've read where there is a firmware issue, but nothing has changed since the last time i did the very same process with no errors.

  • Strange Playback Problem

My podcasts play fine on my iPod Touch, but no songs will play back. If I go to play a song in an album, it does not play, quickly cycles through the rest of the songs without playing them. If I try to a Shuffle, it will just quickly cycle through songs without playing them. Any thoughts as to what might be causing this/how to fix it?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

  • OSMF self start playback after system sleep

    Hi,
We've found an issue with OSMF player: in case you load a page with video, then send system to sleep - after system wakeup playback starts itself. This is valid if you are using f4m file or rtmp stream. Those issues are visible on OSMF demos: here http://www.osmf.org/dev/1.6gm/StrobeMediaPlayback.html there are no issues, but here http://www.osmf.org/dev/1.6gm/debug.html video starts itself after system wakeup. Changing source to flv allows to get rid of the issue.
Also, if you load page, than start it and pause it - the issue will not reproduce as well.
Control bar behaves also very strange: playback time and scrollbar are updated according to actual playback, but play button (not pause) is presented. on case i push play - video restarts.
Systems: MacOS (10.7.5, build 11G63), Firefox 20, Chrome 26, Flash (11.7.700.169); Windows 7: Firefox 17, Flash (11.6.602.180); our cluents also mentioned they have same issues on Win8 under Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome.

This problem was resolved for me using suggestions in another discussion thread.

  • Itunes store purchased tracks terminate playback early

Since updating to 10.x I have a strange playback problem.
I have purchased several albums and random tracks (but always the same ones) will stop playback early. For example "Rise" by Samantha James is 4:24 long, the track ends and skips at about 3:41 on to the next track, (in mid word).
I first thought it was a corruption of the track, but I've had this on nearly all albums purchased since 10.x came out. 10.0.1 hasn't solved the problem.
    Any suggestions ?

I deleted my itunes library and reimported all items, the problem went away. Very strange.

  • Experiencing Strange Distortion or Artifacts in Audition CS6 Playback

    Hello,
I am on the 30 day trial for Audition CS6.  I immediately noticed something strange while working with the program.  I do occasional stock sound effects and typically work in Audion CS3 with no problems at all.
Here is an example of what I am expeeriencing.
I loaded a WAV file of a human heartbeat into edit view and when it plays back, there is some distortion, almost similar to the sound of high level compression in the higher frequencies of the playback, or perhaps similar to what a phaser might do, but without the sweeping.  It will do this in both edit and multitrack views.
Interestingly, when playing back the WAV file on the original recording device, Audition CS3 or even just Windows Media Player, this distortion is not there.  It is only when played back in Audition CS6 that I can clearly hear this.  Additionally, when the audio is exported from CS6 as a WAV, Mp3, etc the distortion is not present.
I have a fairly typical higher-end PC. Windows 7 64bit, 12 GB ram, Intel corei7 3.4 ghz.  Integrated Realtek 5.1 souund with updated drivers.  Audio Hardware settings in Autiion set to MME, inputs and outputs set to the sound card appropriately.
I've thumbed through all of the prefs and can't seem to locate the cause of this problem. I guess the most interesting aspect of this is it seems to be isolated to Audition CS6, as I can not reproduce the issue in any other sound application. Any tips would be appreciated.  Really want to upgrade, but would like to see if there is a fix for this.
    Thanks!

This sounds remarkably like the symptoms of the Microsoft-acknowledged resampling problem in W7. You need to make sure that your sound device sample rate is set to the same sample rate that Audition is using, otherwise the OS will resample the output. Since it's M$ resampling, it's absolute crap, and adds all sorts of artefacts. There's nothing wrong with Audition CS6's output at all - that's been thoroughly tested - unlike W7, it would seem. Why just CS6? I think that this relates to the relationship between the software and the sound device, and what gets reset or not, although somebody with more direct experience of the problem could probably comment more authoritatively about that. I don't know, because I don't use any version of W7.

  • Strange Green Playback Issues in Premiere Pro CC?

Hi, I'm having problems with some footage shot yesterday on a Canon C300. Was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.
I backed-up the footage, imported it into Premiere and made a few rough cuts. I then left it for the day and came into work today to carry on (so I thought). When I opened premiere I was getting this weird green problem anytime I try to play the sequence. I created new sequences & new projects and tried the footage again and still same issue. I then tried some other footage we had, that was shot on a C300 (.MXF). Same issue. I can open the footage in VLC and Resolve with no problems.
A video of the problem can be seen on vimeo:
    https://vimeo.com/92148775 (password: ppcc)
    My setup is:
    Mac Pro 5,1 / 2 x 2.66 GHz 6-Core / 32 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 memory
    PCI Cards (Internal)
Slot 1 ATI Radeon HD 5870
Slot 2 MiniSAS connection to external Cubix expansion chassis
Slot 3 Blackmagic Design Decklink 4K Extreme
Slot 4 SmallTree dual port 10GbE adapter
PCI Cards (External - Cubix Xpander Desktop Elite)
    Slot 1 NVidia GTX 680 4GB
    Slot 2 NVidia GTX 680 4GB
    Slot 3 NVidia GTX 680 4GB
    Slot 4 RedRocket
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am really struggling (I'm not the most technical of editors).
Anything else you need to know, just ask!
    Thanks

    1. What card do you have?
    2. Which drivers version are you using for the BMD card?
    3. Mac OSX or Windows?
    4. When the playback stops, do you see a small red icon down right in Pr's user interface and if yes, what does it say when you double click on it?
If i remeber correctly the Turn Off Dropped Frame Warning is a per timeline setting. I am not at the editing station now, so i can't check.
I assumed that 1280p50 was a typo in your first post and that you actually mean 720p50. Am i correct?
    Four questions, four answers please!

  • Strange thin line of 'noise' across all video playback

Hey, another problem I'm currently having... for no reason my mac has started displaying a flashing line of what I can only describe as 'noise', it's very thin only a few pixels high but as wide as the video playback. This happens in FCP on my viewer window and also in quicktime, not all the time but most of the time.. it also displays on other video playback software.
Any ideas? I can take a screen shot if that helps...
    Thanks!

There are many people using iMacs including myself who've developed random lines of random pixels, usually confined to the current window.
The machines have also become prone to hangs/freezes when these lines appear.
It is suspected that the problem is related to overheating in some way, as it can be improved by ramping up fans speeds using smcFanControl.
Most attribute it to overheating/faulty garphics cards but logic boards might also be implicated. It's been seen on the iMacs with ATI and nVidia cards, and on Leopard/Tiger.
It seemed to appear for me after a software update (early 2008 security update I think), and while that may be coincidence, I do wonder if a bug has been introduced somewhere.

  • Strange drastic video playback lag. Help!

I will keep this short and to the point.
I can open and play video just fine be it a image sequence to a hand drawn frame animation with hundreds of complex layers animating at once but as soon as sound is included I have a 20+ second wait before normal playback. For example even adding a couple seconds OS sound file on a default Photoshop file it scrubs fast but gives you 20+ seconds of the loading cursor each time you press play before ruining smoothly and happens regardless to if you mute it or not.
Reinstalling and resting preferences doesn't help and I can't find anyone else with this.

  • Itunes freezes - strange error message - Determining gapless playback info

I recently tried to suscribe to a new podcast and the accidently stopped the downlaod before it was finished. Itunes then locked up and i could not get out of the podcast listing.
I closed itunes using ctrl-alt-del and started started again. this time it still went directly to the podcast page and the window on top had the following message: Determining Gapless Playback Information. Analysing XX of YY. As it was counting, the computer froze again. I notice that the CPU usage was up to 100%. Everytime I go on to itunes it does the same.
I removed itunes, cleaned out the temp directory, etc. and reinstalled again - same problem.
Has anyone seen this and can you help me?

Ok - no one seems to be able to help with my problem - is there a way I can go back to an older version of itunes. I have 6.5.0 on a CD, but when I remove version 7.0.2 and install 6.5.0, I get a message that says my library was created with a new version of itunes.

  • Strange volume swells in DLSMusicDevice, general midi playback, since Lion upgrade

    Hi all,
Like many people, I upgraded to Lion when it first came out, and overall, everything's been working great. I'm a composer though, so I make frequent use of Sibelius. My problem isn't specific to Sibelius, so don't worry if you don't have experience with it. My problem seems to be with the OS-bundled DLSMusicDevice that, together with the Quicktime Music Synthesizer, is used to playback general midi. Ever since upgrading, playback volume seems to swell randomly, from low to high, making playback of my compositions extremely irritating since it won't play at a constant, consistent volume. Is there anyone else experiencing this? If the DLSMusicDevice is the problem, is there any way to reinstall it without reinstalling the OS? I'm trying my luck with this issue both here and on the Sibelius forums, just in case. Thanks for your help!

    Hello,
My problem is similar of yours.
That is unusually small sound by attached plug-in of DLS music device,
on sequence softwares, and playback SMF file with Quick time and finder.
I tried MacOSX ver. 7.0 to 7.2 with installed to external USB hard disk,
    but there aren't improvement.
And It heard for me peculiar limiter effect sound, by listening carefully.
I've been searched that some one encountered status like my problem, with posted in japanese Apple communities, from July.
But, no body replied to now.
So, I searched english sites with my poor english abilities, and I found your contents.
    My environment is :
    Macbook pro (late 2008, 2.4GHz Core2Duo, 8GB RAM)
Logic Express 9 and Metro (is music sequencer)
I expect fixed this problem in near days, by update OSX version, or i'll find any other answer for it.
If I leave this distress, I will announce about it.
Thank you reading my unskillful sentence.
