Strange problem with network drive

i can see my network drive but i cant see the files and folders inside .Please help me...

When you say, you "can't see," do you mean they are not visible at all, or that you can't access certain folders due to permissions issues?

  • FCPX 10.1.3 problem with network drive

I just upgraded to FCPX 10.1.3 (and OS X Mavericks 10.9.5). I'm trying to update my old projects/events but FCPX does not recognise the drive as a valid drive.
If I go to File > Update..., then Locate... and try to navigate to the Time Capsule, I get the message 'Choose a SAN location or folder containing Final Cut Projects and Events to update into a new library.' It also states that 'The current selection is not valid. Choose another SAN location or folder.'
I use a Time Capsule drive, with no Time Machine files, no DCIM and no AVCHD files. The 'Final Cut Events' and 'Final Cut Projects' folders are at the root level. The Time Capsule is connected via ethernet cable to a Thunderbolt screen which is connected via thunderbolt cable to the laptop. I can see Time Capsule on the desktop and have no problem access files on it.
    Please help!
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks Tom, I'll try that.
And is there no way that it would work with a network drive?

  • Problem with network drives since upgrading

Anyone else having issues with mapped network drives in Mavericks?
I've bene using a Windows 2012 server for ages and not had any problems with the various drive mappings, but since upgrading to Mavericks I'm constantly getting an error -51 when copying files, only a reboot fixes it, and then only for a short while. Nothing has changed on the server.
Other non Maverick machines are working fine.

Yes, same problem here and there are more reports in this forum. A patch from Apple is required, I think.

  • Time Machine restore problem with network drive

Hi, I switched from PC to Mac. I bought a Lacie Network Space 2 (network hd) in an apple store (turns out it's NOT an apple store, it's an apple premium reseller according to the 90 days free telephone support guy, and apple's policy is then: you should have bought a 'time capsule' then.) That doesn't help me now. So I'm hoping some of you might have had this or similar trouble before. The Lacie drive is able to back up my macbook through time machine. It recognizes the drive and it does my backups on a time machine enable share on the hard drive. So I thought it worked like a charm. Until i wanted to go back to a previous date and restore all my data. I read you gotta start from the mac os install dvd and choose the restore option in utility. It recognizes the lacie harddrive. But when i want to connect to it it will say connection failed! I tried this over wifi (the hard drive connect to my linksys router with ethernet cable) and i tried this with the hard drive directly connected to the macbook with ethernet cable. It always finds the harddrive but when i want to connect to it to choose a previous date to restore, i can't even get there because it will say the connection failed. I'd really appreciate some help, because I tried to go on support pages and look up an answer, called apple, but can't really figure out what's wrong. So it can backup, it can restore single or multiple files in time machine, but it can't restore the whole OS when used with the install disc? Also made a dmg file with disk utility, but this one doesn't recognize the network drive. Finder does however. Any tips? Any at all, please?

I had to mark a 'time machine' checkbox in the Lacie UI for it to be able to work as a time machine drive. So the backups work fine without special terminal commands. It's just weird that it won't restore the full OS back when started up with the install DVD.
Whatever the +LaCie UI+ is, that's probably why you can't do the full restore. That may be doing the equivalent of the Terminal command, to "fool" Time Machine into thinking it's backing-up to a supported destination. But you can't do that when booted from your SL Install disc, so Time Machine can't find the network drive.
I tried the option during Setup Assistant to transfer data earlier, but it won't recognize the drive at that time.
Yes, that's likely for the same reason.
BUT I didn't know about *migration manager*. So the option of installing mac osx again and then creating another user and using the migration assistant, that DOES recognize the time machine backups, will surely work.
Never say "surely" until you know
It would be nice to skip the extra step of having to install the OS first, but this will definitely be a valid option to restore. So for now i'll mark this item solved.
Let us know how it turns out.
If anyone has even a speedier, better option to backup and restore a total disc image (or time machine backup), please let me know.
The time involved is probably about the same; it's just in two steps instead of one.
And there's only one step if you use a "supported" destination: Disks that can be used with Time Machine.

  • Strange problem with hard drive

My system has been up and running perfectly since i built it and ive not had any problems untill now.
I often take my hard drive out and take it round to a friends house so I dont have to burn any cds/dvds. This time ive plugged it all back into my machine has normal gone to boot up, and I get the nvidia boot agent giving me crap and it does not detect any of my hard drives ( i have 2 ) I dont use any special sata or raid just the normal set to master and slave as always.
I've unplugged everything and started with the basics 1 hard drive, 1 stick of ram and graphics card, still doesnt detect it, tried the other hard drive on its own and still doesnt detect it, I've also swapped the ide cable with a spare ive got and still the same.I've also cleared cmos.
I dont know what to do now can anyone offer any advice ?

I've ended up formatting my hard drive and reinstalling windows and it works now, but my second hard drive the one I use for storage and no essential files.
c: is for windows and program files only
d: is my pictures/music/films and all the crap
but now when I try to click on my second hard drive I can see all my files what were there before but when I click say on a picture it says no image can be displayed and sometimes when I click on a folder it says this drive is not formatted wish to format it now.
Is there anything I can do to stop it saying that ? or actually be able to retrieve what was on the other hard drive. Also I have the jumpers set like this in this picture
    http://www.maxtor.com/_files/maxtor/en_us/documentation/jumper_settings/style_a1.htm
It is the model and everything for my hard drive and I've got it set like Slave with CLJ, that is the one I have my storage crap on. Is it safe for me to set it to normal slave will that help ? it's a 60gb drive.
    Thanks in advance

  • Problem mounting network drive after upgrading router firmware

    Hi guys,
It's been a while since I last posted a question of my own here, but I'm at my wits end. As I may have mentioned, I live in France, and my ISP is Free (no, not free, Free...). I've got what they call a "box" here, i.e. a sort of super-modem that will let you connect to the Internet via xDSL (and soon VDSL2), receive hundreds of TV channels, read BluRay discs, store files (videos, music, photos, what have you) on a integrated NAS, place and receive phone calls, whether via a landline (DECT) or, since recently, through a femtocell.
All in all, the package is impressive and works flawlessly. But...
(Of course, there had to be a "but)
... Yesterday, I let my "box" (it's called a Freebox Revolution, or Freebox V6--for Version 6--by the way) upgrade its firmware, reboot as it always does in such circumstances, and  since that,  the NAS won't mount in the Finder the way it used to under the Shared left pane.
Now, every time I reboot my Mac, I have to open a browser windows and type "smb://mafreebox.freebox.fr" in order mount the NAS in the Finder. I've saved the credentials (login, no password) in the keychain, hoping it would help, but it doesn't. I've got a PC running Windows 8.1 Preview at the moment, and created a shortcut to the NAS on the Desktop. Guess what? I double-click on the shortcut, and sure enough, I can access the content of the NAS from Windows, but not from the Mac.
I must add that I haven't changed anything on the Mac since, or before, upgrading the "box" firmware.
    Any ideas?

OK, you must think I'm going bananas, but my issue is gone... For now...
Seriously, what do you guys think about this problem with network drives mounting or not, depending on, I don't know, the weather, maybe?

  • Strange Problems With Display and Permissions Since 10.5.1 update.

Since I've done the 10.5.1 update I have been having a strange problem with my desktop and dock displays. On my desktop I have these strange lines that appear any time I log in or open any application, the lines never go away and change locations on the screen once I open an application or move a window. My dock has the reflective shelf for about half of it, the rest is a dull grey. I've also had problems with verifying and repairing my permissions. I can never actually complete either permissions task. I've used some third party apps, they always fail as well. The only time I can actually repair my permissions is by booting in to single user mode and doing a fsck -f command. When I boot back in to Leopard and try to use the Disk Utility to repair, it continues to fail.
I'm not sure if the video problem I am having stems from a permissions issue or possibly a corrupt video driver. Either way, I've done a lot research and haven't found anyone with the same problems I have been having so I thought I would give these forums a shot.
    I am using a PowerMac G4 Quicksilver with dual 800Mhz, 1.5gb RAM, and a GeForce4 Ti 4600 128mb video card.
Here is a screen shot of the line and dock problem.

  • Strange problem with Superdrive in 1.8 GHz iMac G5 (rev. A)

The superdrive in my 1.8 GHz iMac G5 (rev. A) has recently developed a strange problem but only when dealing with CDs. If the computer has been on for a short time the drive won't accept any CDs be they audio, data or blank. It never has problems with DVDs but try and put a CD in and it just spits it back out; it doesn't even try to read the disc, it just goes in and one second later it ejects. Now if I turn off the computer or put it in sleep mode for a while and try again it'll work, you can leave the disc in as long as you want and use it without problems but the second you eject it you can't use CDs again. If you turn the computer on and don't use the CD drive until say ten minutes later it'll not work either. I reset the NVRAM and PRAM and re-installed the OS but it still won't work. I've already had problems with the drive before, infact this one is a replacement drive because the original was scratching my discs.
I only have 34 days left on my warranty so I need to do something quick (if I don't want to pay) but I'm not sure what to do. The iMac Assistant in Support doesn't really cover it; do I need to make an appointment to take it into an Apple Store or can I just take it in and ask them to look at it?
    iMac G5 1.8 GHz (rev. A)   Mac OS X (10.3.5)

You should report it to Apple tech support. It could be that the drive is failing. My revision "A" superdrive, a Pioneer K04F, failed after six months and it did so over a period of time (I think) as a few of the disks I burned toward the end of its life would only partially play back. If the drive is not failing, Apple support may have some thoughts on how to set it right.

  • Strange problem with ACLs

    Hi,
I have just migrated an oracle database from 11.1.0.7 on Win Server 2003 to 11.2 on Linux 64 bit. I am having a strange problem with ACLs - I can create the ACL but when I perform either of the following two commands:
    SELECT * FROM DBA_NETWORK_ACLS

  • CS 5 Bridge Downloader crashes with network drive

For the first time with CS5 I have tried "getting photos" from my camera. If I specify the destination on my local drive there is no problem. If, I specify a mapped network drive the downloader stalls, and eventually I have to kill the program in task manager.
I didn't have this problem with CS4. Has anyone tried using this workflow with a network drive with success?
Any ideas what the problem might be?
There is plenty of free space on the network drive.
    Thanks.

Adobe always answers that they can't guarantee anything working with networked drives because they can't know every network configuration out there.
Hence, always save to a local drive initially.

  • Strange problem with connection to Integrator Server

    Hi,
I have a strange problem with making a connection to my Integrator Server.
I have one workspace folder that I share between Integrator version 2.4 and 3.0 (I have several versions installed for testing purposes)
When I try to create a new Integrator Server Project in Integrator Designer I get this nice 'Connect to CloverETL Server' panel.
By default: the connection URL is http://localhost:8080/clover. So by default Integrator Designer wants to connect to my 2.4 Integrator Server.
When I change this to http://localhost:8301/clover by using the drop-down box and fill in my credentials everything is looking fine. I click Next.
The problem now is that every time I switch to the next or previous configuration windows the connection is reset to the default http://localhost:8080/clover.
So it seems like Integrator Designer resets the CloverETL Server URL each time I switch to a different configuration window by using NEXT or BACK.
The problem occurs in both versions of Integrator Designer.
Does anybody know that the problem is? Can I change the default URL to my 3.0 Integrator Server?
    Greetings,
    Marcow

I'm using iPlanet App server as well and experiencing similar problem. I load my SQL Server driver by Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver"), then use DriverManager.getDriver() to obtain the Driver.
However, the Driver returned is not the SQLServerDriver as expected. The Driver returned is com.netscape.server.jdbc.Driver! And then when I do Driver.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://MyServer"), it throws an SQLException saying that it doesn't accept a jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver subprotocol. Well, of course it doesn't, it's not a microsoft Driver at all.
I suspect the problem is that the netscape Driver's acceptsURL() method ALWAYS returns true in iPlanet app server, thus when you getDriver(), the netscape Driver is always returned (and always returned as the first one since it's default?). Thus even though the same piece of code works fine as a standalone application, it just doesn't work on iPlanet app server.
    My work around is:
    Class.forName("my.Driver");
    Enumeration enu = DriverManager.getDrivers();
    Driver useThis = null;
    while (enu.hasMoreElements()) {
    Driver d = (Driver)enu.nextElement();
    if (d.getClass().toString().indexOf("my.Driver") > -1) {
    useThis = d;
Mind that my above code does not have an performance issue. If you look into the source code of how DriverManager get a Driver for a particular URL, it also loads the whole set of available Drivers, then call acceptsURL() method on each of them to find the first "suitable" one. Thus time complexity is the same.
I know this is not a very elegant solution and it defeats the purpose of having a DriverManager. Does any one else has a better way to solve this problem, like a way to specify the priority of each Driver so that SQLServerDriver is returned before the netscape Driver?
    Thanks a lot.

  • Strange problem with HD

I'm having a strange problem with my titanium 15" Powerbook G4 (I believe it's 867Mhz). When I start it up, I get a flashing question mark/folder, and I can't boot into safe mode or make it start up past that question mark.
Here's the really weird part-- the hard drive is completely fine. I booted it in target mode, was able to access all files on it, transfer files to and from it, and when I ran disk utility, everything was fine.
I heard disk utility doesn't catch everything, so I ran fsck 3 or 4 times with both the -f and -r options (to rebuild the file catalog), and it came up with 0 errors.
I think it's just not recognizing the hard drive as the boot volume, but when I press option on startup to select it, it doesn't pop up in the list-- so there's no way to select it.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Tim

I reinstalled Leopard on it using the target disk method (because the DVD drive is broken on the computer). It installed fine, and I can see all system files on it, but I can't boot off of it-- same problem. Thanks for the suggestion... any others?

  • Strange problem with motherboard H67MA-E45(B3) =( please help

Hi, I have a strange problem with my motherboard . I have a H67MA-E45 (B3) (MSI-7678) , when i try to update it ( http://www.pcbrain.it/images/stories/msi/H67MA-E45/bios/14.JPG ) , i choose the fourth option "Select one file to update bios" , but the bios did not recognize the update file (E7678IMS.1C0) into the Usb flash drive , but if i choose the second option (select one file to boot) the file is recognized. First I made a backup of the bios, and into the USB flash drive has been created a file called "E7678ICX.162" (my current update). Why the extension is IXC ?!? it should have been IMS ! . I tried changing the file extension "E7678IMS.1C0" (the new update) into "E7678ICX.1C0" and when i select the fourth option , the file is recognized! . Obviously I have not started the update , but if I proceed with the update, changed the name of the extension, is it safe? Or do damage?..please help me  :(
P.S. Sorry for my bad bad and very poor english , i'm italian =)

Still think there is a batch conflict or possibly a bad stick in the new sticks. Might test each new stick individually for a bad one. Again, the other solution for an 8BG kit may be the new Kingston HyperX PnP's. Could you post a screenshot of CPUID's CPU-Z Memory & SPD Tab for one of the new sticks?
Added: Actually, screenshots of the old sticks Memory & SPD Tab may be of help too. It may be tRAS or tRFC differences between the two kits. Just speculation at this point though.
All the batchs works perfectly...this is the screen http://imageshack.us/f/163/ramkk.jpg/ ...save and zoom
EDIT: The old stick are SLOT #1 and SLOT #2 ...the new 3 and 4

  • Itunes problem with hard drive filling up?

Recently, I plugged my 8gb Nano into my computer and as soon as I looked at my library, many songs had exclamation points and no longer would play on my ipod. For a few of the songs with the !, I just deleted them, and went and dragged and dropped it again form my computer's hard drive, and it synced/played with no problem??? I have probably 200 or so songs with the !, so I was looking for a more efficient way to fix the problem other than deleting each one individually and dragging and dropping them again from the hard drive of my computer. Thanks in advance!
Also, I have a second problem. When I plug in my nano to my computer, my ipod's hard drive begins to immediatley fill up for no reason, and I'm not adding any files to Itunes. I then looked at my ipod under windows as an external drive and under the "music" folder it is adding folders with artist's names as the titles of these folders within the "music" folder of the ipod when I open it in windows? Anyone ever had this problem??

plausibly, you're getting some less-standard symptoms of a Windows drive letter confusion here. if that's what is afoot, the following document may be of some assistance:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • Strange Problem With Extra Spaces

    Hello,
My development staff is experiencing a very strange problem with our JSP pages which display the values from a JDBC result set. We have two environments here: development and production. We have been creating pages in development which work out fine in our development environment. But when we move the page into production, each value which results from the ResultSet getString() method is having multiple blank spaces appended to the end of the value. So, for example, a 5 digit zip code field is really showing up with a length of 8 or 9 because there are extra spaces added to the end of the value.
We are able to work around this problem by using the trim() method, but this is getting quite tedious to do to every single page in the site. It is very annoying because the problem does not exist in the development environment.
So you figure there must be a difference in our development and production environments. But there really isn't. Here is the details for both environments:
    OS: Windows NT 4.0
Web Server: Apache with Tomcat setup as a plugin
    Database: Sybase ASA 6.0.3
    JDK: 1.3
Apache and Tomcat were installed from the same download on both servers. Sybase was installed from the same CD on both servers - and the JDBC Driver (SybDriver) was copied from one server to the next.
Sorry for the long explanation - but does anyone have any idea what could be occurring? Why are the extra spaces being appended to the production pages and not the development pages?
As always, thanks in advance for any suggestions!
    -- Chris

    Hello Paul,
Thank you for taking the time to analyze this case.
The data in the system comes from two different sources. The first source is a nightly feed from a legacy system. The second source is user input via the JSP application. The records that were inserted from the nightly feed have an accurate length() value (meaning there is no untrimmed spaces trailing along.) But the values coming in from the application have extra spaces appended to them. In the development environment, however, both sources provide properly trimmed data.
If I enter an 8 character last name into the web form in the production app, the value which ends up in the database upon submission will have 2 to 3 extra spaces. I know that this sounds strange - and believe me, it is boggling everyone here. I suspect this problem has to do with the Tomcat installation - even though it was installed identically in each server.
I think we are just going to have live with using the trim() for every database submission. As always, thank you for the help, and all ideas are always welcome.
