Strange problem with unflatten from string

Hi all,
Attached are the VIs that make me crazy.
The problem is simple, Creat fake signal creats datas and uses a strict type def control (cluster) then this cluster is flatten to a string and written into a text file.
Test read opens one of that file and unflatten the datas with the same stric type def. There is the problem it does not work!
If I wire a cst arry into the data terminal of the bundle by name, then there is no problem. By if I wire other array it does not work always... It seems random.....
I hope that somebody can help me. Even people reproducing the error are welcome, to know if it comes from my computer.

I changed the write to binary sting file with write to binary file and it seemed to fix the problem. I had to change it in your gen fake data file too.

Strange problem with procedure calling from Java!!!

I am using Oracle 8.1.7 Database, Oracle 8i Application server and WInNT platform.
I am facing a strange problem while inserting a String from Java to Oracle database through Procedure. When i am passing the String containing single quotes(e.g "test' and ' and ' end") and without including any escape charactes for the single quotes I am passing the String by the setString() method then the procedure is inserting the single quotes without any problem.
Of course when I am independently executing the procedure thru backend and passing the same String containing single quotes then the error message comes as " quoted string not properly terminated" which is justified,
I have even printed the String in a file through sql on the runtime of the procedure when it is called by Java and then also the String contatins single quotes that is passed through java without any escape characters. This means that procedure is inserting the String into the column without any hassles!!!!!
Can anyone tell me what may be the reason for the peculiar behaviour of Database?

in order to know which procedure is getting first i added a dbms statement in both the functions and called the function from the main block.

Whats happening internally within the unflatten from string function?

I am getting unflatten from string error intermitently in my program. I can't post the program to get help but essentially I am storing a GOOP object reference as a string. The reference is flattened to a string and stored upon creation, at a latter time the string is then unflatterned to retrieve the reference and then the data. This works most of the time but occansionaly the unflatterned from string function fails. Prior to passing the string to the function I am checking that the string isn't null. I am assuming something else is corrupting the string prior to passing to this fucntion and would like to know what would trigger the error in the function as it may help me realise what is happening
prior.

Hi,
It really seems strange this problem, but one thing that might be the cause is how you store the flatten string. You do not mention that. I have once had problems when storing GOOP references as a sting and passing them between test VIs in TestStand using a string parameters in TestStand. A flatten string might have special chars that not all applications (such as TestStand parameters) can handle that and just trunkate the string when such a char is present, mistakenly inteprets that as end of string. Have you tried to check that string length is the same?
However to make sure you get rid of all problems with string termination, you really should cast your GOOP reference into something else. I would instead cast the reference to an U32, or
if you want, to solve the string problem for other types than GOOP reference, then flatten the type into string and then convert the string to an array of U8 before storing it. This would by sure solve your problem.

CRIO: Unflatten from string into lvclass not working in deployment

Hello,
I am working on a problem for some hours now and I need some help.
I am using a cRIO-9022. I need to do some tasks, and I created a couple of classes which contain the parameters and the methods. They contain using dynamic dispatch VIs. I have an array of these classes (all derived from a parent class) which is my "configuration". I am using "flatten to string" and saving those file on disk. "Unflatten from string" is working fine. These file is created on a LV WIndows Application.
I need to use this file on my cRIO: Unflatten from string, and then work with the array of my classes. When running the cRIO Main VI it's working fine. But when building the application and deploying it as startup, it's not working. I am getting:
Error 1403 occurred at Unflatten From String in Gantry CommEngine.vi->RT Main.vi
Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW: Attempted to read flattened data of a LabVIEW class. The data is corrupt. LabVIEW could not interpret the data as any valid flattened LabVIEW class.
What I tried so far:
- Added the whole lvlib containing the classes and also every single class to "Source files / always included".
- Created constants of the array (containing the classes) to the VI (forcing LV to include the classes?)
- Loaded the file from cRIOs flash and also by shared variable
What else can I do?

I tried to reproduce the matter, but couldn't.
I attached my example to the post.
What it does:
It creates a class with only a string a bool and a number. This class oblect is saved to C:/somename.xml. The number is a random number.
In the second case the same file is read and the number broadcasted to a variable.
It worked quite fine building it as a startupexe.
Nothing else was necessary. Does it work for you?

Unflatten from string takes long time to execute in x64

Hi All,
I am running into an issue where "Unflatten from String" is taking enormous amout of memory n time in LV 2012 SP1 x64 to execute. I pass in a NOT flattened string to this function and it consumes ~5 Gigs of memory and takes more than 10 minutes to execute it. On x86, it executes almost instantly.
It only happens if the input is not a flattened string.
Is this a known bug?
I have attached the vi here for you to see the problem. If you run it on x64, it might take more than 10 mins to execute and your system will be in a hung state.

Be careful with that terminology, it only applies to the Windows Operating System with respect to 32-bit and 64-bit processors. There is no such thing as LabVIEW x64, or LabVIEW x86. Strange problem with jpcap library.

When i start this simple code it isn't working correctly. On the output i have only "no devices". JpcapCaptor doesn't see any mine network interfaces. On windows this code works correctly.
Anyone has any idea what is wrong?

I also have a similar problem but in Windows. I've been using a W2008 Server for a short time. For what I've seen and have been told, it works like a Vista. I've wrote a program which uses jpcap and winpcap and, first of all, gets the device list.
Well, if I boot my computer and log on with my usual account, which in theory is an administrator, gets 0 devices when I run the program.
Then, if I log on with the actual Administrator account i works perfectly.
And, if after logging and running the program with the Administrator account (NOT just logging on) I log on with my usual account, it works too.
It's like the Adm account has some kind of "top" permission that doesn't go away at logoff. I tried that because I had some other problems accessing the DVD-ROM for writing from my usual account.
I think that I doesn't happen in WXP, but I haven't tested that last problem, yet.
Any ideas??

Instead of guessing what the problem is, how about we go to [the source|http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jls/third_edition/html/expressions.html#15.25] and see what's actually happening.
Our line is
expr ? <int> : (expr ? <int> : <null>)Let's look at the inner conditional first. By JLS 5.1.8, we have two different types, neither of which is a reference type. The null is convertible to int, so we have two types convertible to numerics and we apply unboxing to the null, which is where your error is coming from.
Your fix works because Object is not convertible to int, so we fall through to the last case and use boxing on the ints instead of unboxing on the null.
Another way to fix this is to use Integers instead of ints. Since Integer is a reference type, we hit the third case and never try to unbox.

Strange Problems With Display and Permissions Since 10.5.1 update.

Since I've done the 10.5.1 update I have been having a strange problem with my desktop and dock displays. On my desktop I have these strange lines that appear any time I log in or open any application, the lines never go away and change locations on the screen once I open an application or move a window. My dock has the reflective shelf for about half of it, the rest is a dull grey. I've also had problems with verifying and repairing my permissions. I can never actually complete either permissions task. I've used some third party apps, they always fail as well. The only time I can actually repair my permissions is by booting in to single user mode and doing a fsck -f command. When I boot back in to Leopard and try to use the Disk Utility to repair, it continues to fail.
I'm not sure if the video problem I am having stems from a permissions issue or possibly a corrupt video driver. Either way, I've done a lot research and haven't found anyone with the same problems I have been having so I thought I would give these forums a shot.
I am using a PowerMac G4 Quicksilver with dual 800Mhz, 1.5gb RAM, and a GeForce4 Ti 4600 128mb video card.

Strange problem with Adobe Acrobat X (crash without a trace)

Hi,
I have a strange problem with Adobe Acrobat. It happens totally randomly, it leaves no signs in system logs.
What is happening: during my work Adobe Acrobat sudennly crashes. After a crash I cannot run it again - system seems to do something for a second, but then nothing happends. When i look into taks manager - there are no processes of Acrobat.exe. It just doesn't want to run. What I need to do is to reinstall whole Adobe Acrobat - which requires restart.
I've already tried to restart system after crash, it doesn't help - reinstall is required.
Sometimes everyting is fine for a 3 months, sometimes crash happens a week after the previous one. It also happens in very different situations (somtimes while opening a file, sometimes when doing something simple, sometimes in more complex tasks).
Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

Strange problem with Subviews on 1.0 Beta

I'm having a strange problem with SubViews on 1.0 Beta. I'm not sure If I'm being stupid and have done something wrong, or if there's a problem here.
My application is directly based on one of the examples, so the structure etc is almost identical. I've simplified the files below to avoid confusing the issue.
The default landing page (greeting.jsp) looks like this:

<Other HTML content from greeting.jsp>When I look at the HTML source code being generated, it is genuinly being generated as above, that is, all the form tags first, and then the rest of the content. Interestinly, I tried adding a ${SystemStatus.system2Available} into the body text, and it was rendered as literal text (i.e. not evaluated as EL), which is very curious -- makes me wonder if the included file is included as text, rather than JSP, although the custom taglibs and <f:form> tags etc are not in the generated HTML.
If I lift all the content between the <h:form> tags (inclusive) out of sysstatus.jsp and put it in greeting.jsp in place of the <jsp:include> tag, all is well.
Any ideas? All help gratefully recieved!

Personally, I think it is a bug in the rendering model of JSF itself because if you include any non-JSF tags, they don't get rendered according to my understanding of the what the spec says (in the location the tags are written).
The only workaround that I could come up with is to use straight JSF tags in all of your layers. Things are then rendered the way that they "should" be rendered.
You could try wrapping all of your HTML tags in <f:verbatim> tags and see if that helps.

Strange problem with ACLs

Hi,
I have just migrated an oracle database from 11.1.0.7 on Win Server 2003 to 11.2 on Linux 64 bit. I am having a strange problem with ACLs - I can create the ACL but when I perform either of the following two commands:
SELECT * FROM DBA_NETWORK_ACLS
or
SELECT * FROM NET$_ACL
I get no rows returned. The ACL exists somehow because if I try and create it again I get the error that it exists. Has anyone got any advice here? Something is out of sync and I need to know how to fix it up.

I would try in order:
- Reset the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore the iPod from backu via iTunes.
- Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.

Strange Problem with ARD 2.2 *Please Help*

Strange Problem with ARD 2.2 (2 problems)
We have a classroom lab with 14 G5 PPC's running 10.4.11 with ARD 2.2 clients installed.
We controlled all the G5's from a PPC Mac Mini running 10.4.11 with ARD 2.2, this was our Admin machine in our server room.
We then added a teachers machine in the lab, an iMac PPC running 10.4.11 and ARD 2.2 also with admin status.
Everything was working fine!
We then upgraded the iMac PPC to an iMac Intel with 10.4.11. We installed ARD 2.2 admin and did the intel intergration.
Everything worked fine.
The iMac PPC was moved to another location, ARD was removed following instructions on the Apple website telling us to delete the application then run some terminal commands to remove pref's.
Then our Intel iMac screen broke, we had the "lines" problem so bad only half the screen was visible. Long story short Apple wanted to charge us almost half the cost of the machine (no Applecare as it was a donated machine) to repair the screen!
So we moved the PPC iMac back into the lab, re-install ARD 2.2.
Now here is the problem, I can control, observe and run almost any command but cannot share with any computer!
2nd,the Mac Mini Tech computer is running fine but cannot control or observe the PPC iMac teacher machine (we were able to do this before) I can even share the Mac Mini with the iMac but cannot observe or control!!
Any ideas?

I'm not sure I understand, do you mean in System Pref's under sharing? Or is there somewhere else I need to enable to control?
Seems like a hassle to reinstall the entire OS just to fix this problem, I am able to do everything else, except observe from one admin to another, and control from 1 admin to clients.

Strange is that if I try to rebuild and deploy locally, no errors occurs and I can normally deploy and run application manually!
Does anyone have experience with this problem?

I have faced this problem earlier BUT ultimately I have to create the DC from scratch.
But you can check these things:
1.Have you copy/pasted Dictionary type from other location (check the path of the dictionary types ) --> If yes then deleted that and create again(do not use copy/paste)
2.This also happens if your "Used DC" has some problems in the JDI --> Remove the used DC and add it again.
3.Make sure the NWDI infastructure is perfect- this may be a cause.
4. Check Context mappings --> delete all mappings > save metadata > Create again.
5. Delete the model and recreate it again.
6.If you have done reimporting model make sure to restart J2EE instance.

How does "Unflatten From String" take a type and return a value of that type?

How exactly does the "type" argument for "Unflatten From String" work? I need to create a VI that takes a type, passes it as an argument to several calls of the "Unflatten From String" function, and returns an array containing elements of the type originally passed. The "Unflatten From String" function seems to do some magic though, because the type of the "value" that it outputs changes depending on the type it is passed as input. How do I do the same magic in my VI?
Ultimately, what I need to accomplish is an unflatten-list operation. Given a type T and a byte string of length L (which contains a concatenation of T elements that are flattened to their bytes), create a VI that unflattens all the types in the string and return an array of length (L / sizeof(T)) that contains each type.
Note: performing the unflatten-list operation is trivial, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do it in a VI that takes a type and returns an array of the appropriate type. By the way, my data is being given to me from another source, so please don't bother suggesting that I should be flattening an array using LabVIEW's "Flatten To String" function in the first place. Take a look at this example: You can see that the flattened string contains several bytes. The first four bytes contain the length of array (number of elements). Since the data type is U32, the next 32 bits (4 bytes) contains the value of the first element, and so on. Could you possibly use this scheme to do what you want to do? Other data types present different outputs. You would have to experiment with them.
